You’ve got to restore it. I had a 123 restored and kept it for 15 years changed it for a 124 also restored but personal issues forced me to give it up. These old classics deserve a new life. They were built at the end of a golden era because current mercs are not built to the same standard. Pleased to see you in a dedicated unit too. I know it wouldn’t be very economically viable to do so, but what I will tell you as a 20 year old who’s dream car is is practically exactly one of those. An old Mercedes with the AMG body kit and wheels with a hearty engine. I would never let one of those go and in your specific case that car has christened your new workshop. Naturally welding and cutting that whole car to get it back to a good standard would be expensive but I think that would be my dream for it. I looked up the cars/engine on the german wiki, which stated "the ADAC statistics did not view this engine (M103) favorably, due to unreliable fuel pump CU and ignition system". :P The 3.2L M103 iirc was only in the AMG 190E. For spare parts, there are also some models with M103 engines but M104 Parts numbers, because Mercedes shipped the old engines rebadged, i.E. in the W124 4Matic. However, one thing that's very well possible: the engine could have a larger bore. During that period (and keeping in mind the AMG Bodykit) it was very common to tune engines by giving them a larger bore. One thing I'd recommend as a "best practise" is checking compression before ordering parts, so you don't end up throwing money at a dead engine.
Hi Mike, the m103 was also available in the 124 variant as well. The 3.2 litre m103 AMG engine is known as a “baby hammer” In the 190e. I currently own a Ron Stratton AMG built s124 with the m103 3.2 AMG engine. It’s also possible any 80’s and early 90s car could have an m103 AMG as it’s a premerger car they were all built to the customers spec.
@@ruairidh2575 I think we have to differentiate between AMG's Engine for the 190 and tuned engines. AFAIK the 190 AMGs engine had different camshafts for more stroke and a larger bore (with pistons, obviously). So you could have tuned a M103 to that spec with those parts without it being a AMG engine (with badge and stuff). I assume AMG would have sold parts or conversion prior to the release of the 190 AMG. That said, it's also possible for Nino's car to have a 3.2L by other means, as AMG isn't (wasn't) the only one offering such parts. My point in general was, that he shouldn't rule out having a 3.2L engine, just because it doesn't look like the 3.2 AMG from the outside.
This is painfully close to what I went through with my -69 w108 280SE, but I tried on and off for 3 years to get it running, until an expert showed up to look at it, poked his head under the bonnet and said "your linkages are out of alignment". He could just see that, and it had been done such long time ago that the threads were sort of rusted/corroded back the way they were so you couldn't tell otherwise. He fiddled for a sec to get it adjusted and it fired up and ran immediately, I had done EVERYTHING from changing pumps and everything in the ignition, read hundreds of forums and no one knew what to do, even several skilled mechanics. I even gave up and redid all the brakes instead. But then I could get it inspected and road legal for the first time in 20 years. What a car those old Mercs are! Imagine my relief once it fired, I almost cried 😅
@@vercingetorige400 The throttle linkage to the fuel pump was adjusted for more fuel and the linkage to the intake was adjusted for less air, probably to compensate for some poor running in the past, but once I fixed everything else, it wouldn't run at all. Also the reason the old owner sold it.

Nice video, someone should save this old Merc! The cap and rotor arm should be the first thing to check on any Merc with these M103 engines. They are notoriously weak and the parts aren't the cheapest. One thing to check is the dizzy cap cover. The cover cracks causing the metal inserts to collapse and so when you tighten down the cap it gets pulled out of alignment which causes all sorts of misfires and rough running issues. I binned the cover and spaced the cap bolts out with a couple of washers on my W124 260E with an M103, worked great after. Nice to see you have a new cover, Don't over tighten it when you put it on!
You’re either a big barge kind of guy or your not. Fortunately for me I am so the pleasure I get from seeing, hearing, driving or somebody else doing the same in these sort of cars is immense. Horses for courses. It would be a boring world if we were all the same!
I'd love to see you try your hand at body repair. i know you've said you hate that stuff in the past, but you've got nothing to lose on this car, it couldn't get much worse. Take it as practice
Yes! This is such exciting news. I've been watching you the last 3 years and I've been praying for this moment. I am so happy for you and the family! Keep up the great work Neno! Seeing you get that Mercedes up and running again makes me want to work on my 88 Jetta, which also has the K Jetronic fuel system.
Mercs of that era looked so much nicer than today's models. The 300 CE was awesome looking. Great to see you've gone full time on UA-cam. It's always a pleasure to see someone make it in life through their own hard work. Well done mate. 😊
I’m surprised you take a chance keeping petrol in a shed that tidy. It’s probably tidier than my garage😂. Love your videos. Great educational learning on just how to get on and do stuff. Brilliant keep up the great work
This whole video has been a win. Can genuinely say I've never been so happy for someone getting a workshop on the youtube verse. Having gone from a workshop back to british weather myself I can appreciate how much it's affected you. Having space and everything to hand will make such a huge difference and you fully deserve it. As far as the Merc goes I think it deserves a full refresh to go along with your new workshop being its the first car in it. It's also a very cool car to own so may as well make it pristine. Wishing you the best my good man 🙌🙏
Have to say that I'm very happy about you! Love your content, humor sensor and your approach to save these cars. God bless you, your family and this channel. Regards from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I have a locked large metal box in the garden with petrols containers, propane gas bottle and mini bottles for my gas welder. Better than being in the garage that is attached to the house.
Restore it, make it look the way it would have looked when it rolled off the showroom floor. Classic mercs look so good that way. Sure, you can make a few tasteful modifications to it. New to the channel, this is the third or fourth video I have watched and I was hooked to the insanely detailed troubleshooting and commitment in all of them. Keep up the good work!
OMG I'm so happy for you! Finally a real workshop. As someone working outside all the time I really feel you! If you want to get a lift I can recommend TwinBusch. They have cheap but high quality lifts and they're based in Germany. For the car I would think that if you sell it as a whole barely anyone would rescue that body. So either sell all the parts or get another in tact chassis and replace everything. Third option would be to try bodywork. You now have the workshop to try something like that. 😂
Man, its so wholesome watching your videos! Literally gives me the same feeling as M539, you are a natural at this UA-cam thing! I can only wish to be able to fix cars with someone like you. Anyway, since the kit is not original to the car, just flog it, sounds like a no brainer when you can get such money for it all! Then bam, like you say free car, quality content, definitely cant allow this beauty to die!
Firstly congratulations on new workshop. Secondly spark was weak when spark tester was used and I'm glad you have figured it out eventually. Thirdly sell the car as is, that will give it a chance to be restored, hopefully. Once you strip it for parts it will be gone for ever. Good luck in new chapter.👍👍👍👍👍
Get it done. This era mercedes/amg and related bits and bobs is on the rise. It will go up in value. Especialy with your nice channel. Like your stile, honesty and humor 😂 please keep going🎉
Just came across you after many years spent watching vice grip and a few revivals off my own and many hour on my drive in the uk weather, just wanted to say great job nothing more satisfying than bringing a dead car back to life maybe one day I’ll do a video too
My W124 failed to start. It would run on EZ Start - so no fuel...The fuel pump relay was the culprit - the output pins had cracked solder joints visible with a loupe. I removed all the old solder, used flux and re-soldered the pins and the problem was solved. It had been intermittent up to the point of failure and I would pray it would start. The dry joints were the problem. Great to see you get it going.
Not sure what you should do with the merc, but love the process of elimination to getting it started. You've definitely got a good mechanical and electrical understanding. 👍👍👍👍
You my friend has grafted your go**** off to get where you are. And I'm so looking forward too the future too come. I think I've been watching after a month or so of you starting Nemo. Changing engines in a community car park. Audi first Merc. It's your character that I enjoy watching. Congratulations with your growing family.
Excellent troubleshooting process, thoroughly enjoyed it! 40:35 Meowchanic assistant! 43:00 Alan Shearer goal celebration And congratulations for getting your new very cool place; your workshop! Also independence from the British weather. Your wish came true! My suggestion for the car is to use it as your daily driver because you look like the boss driving it!
I absolutely love watching your content, it’s so brutally honest and informative as well as the odd cackle of laughter with the shed scenes and dropping of spark plug sensor. We have all endured moments like that! I agree with others about selling wheels and AMG kit, get a lift and produce more content.
Well done pal, be proud of what you've achieved! I would Strip the parts, the engine and what looks like a decent interior... Scrap the rest and you've just fully equipped your unit! It would be nice to have a round up video of what cars you now have and the plans!
I myself would love to see it restored. It has a very cool presence to it. Congrats on the new workshop too. Its going to be a real game changer for you !
Respect for so openly embracing your child like wonder when you're recognising youv leveled up in life with the workshop and full time youtubing, youre normally very humble this really made me smile! really enjoy your videos looking forward to watching them for many years to come :)

Great to see things working out and you going full time on UA-cam. We like you, your humour and seeing the journey. With that in mind and the stacks of time and money a restoration would take, im saying sell it. You could even fix the basics like brakes, cracked light and water leak. Then sell it for profit and move onto the next one on your list.
You are amazing. You are a better mechanic/technician than most that work on my cars. Like you I am an amateur mechanic, however, when I need to work underneath my cars, I don't have the stamina you have demonstrated, and I have to have an independent shop do the work. I have owned and loved 7 Mercedes Benz models during my motoring life. Best built cars in the world. I say put together an estimate of how much money it would take to restore this baby - not to showroom condition, but to allow it to reach 300,000 miles as a daily runner which it will do. You should get 135,000 miles of good comfortable, inexpensive and reliable motoring. (If you like the car!). $15,000 restoration or less it would be worth it, depends on how much of the work you are willing to do.
Nino!!!!! You are the man! Congrats on full time, congrats on the shop. Well done!!! I say Refurbish the wheels and kit and sell them. Get the car in okay working order and sell it as well. Then on to the next one! Congrats again man. So pumped for you.
Congratulations on the new workshop. Next time you get an old car like this get a can of brake cleaner. Spray in intake and that will tell you straight away what you’re missing. If she runs-no fuel. If she doesn’t-no spark or impulse for injectors on slightly newer cars. That would have saved you tonnes of time. Looking forward to many more videos on this old beauty.
Sir, I am so happy for you, this is one of my favorite channels, you are a real hoot, the content is very interesting, & I love the humble beginning, it's a veritable rags to workshop story, as a 63 year old ex pat Brit, I love watching for the scenery as much as the content, cheers big ears
Another great vid! Congrats on the shop! I think we need a full restoration! Too many channels on UA-cam don't bother going the whole way - some tease it by getting quotes but never follow through.
Greetings from ex brit in Canada love the content, great work I would Sell the wheels & Body Kit put it to a shop lift, at 61 and watching your videos I feel all the previous pains and struggles of doing things on the ground so a mirror reflection. Back to the Merc add stock wheels and sell as is running.
Congrats Mate For the workshop !! Bring this classic back to life and then either use it as a daily driver or sell it to get some other project. Keep it up
What makes this channel a treat to watch is how relatable you are! Keep it like this, and good luck going ahead! Concerning the Merc'... If I should decide on it, I'd get the wheels and body kit off of it and sell them, put something in their place just to make it look somewhat nice. If the underbody is worth anything I'd fix up the car to a certain extent, and make some content on it in the meantime and when it is in a sellable state I'd sell it to someone who will take care of it and restore it.
Man I got goosebumps when you showed the workshop. So happy for you man. I’m new to the channel. I followed all the Mini R53 series and I love your content. Best wishes from Honduras.

I binned the cover and spaced the cap bolts out with a couple of washers on my W124 260E with an M103, worked great after. Nice to see you have a new cover, Don't over tighten it when you put it on!
Congratulations on the Merc and the workshop.
You really scored with this car - definitely worth restoring and bringing it back to its former glory. Congrats on your new work shop!
You’re either a big barge kind of guy or your not. Fortunately for me I am so the pleasure I get from seeing, hearing, driving or somebody else doing the same in these sort of cars is immense. Horses for courses. It would be a boring world if we were all the same!
So glad you found the bonnet service position, I was shouting at the screen 😂
I was afraid it was gonna fell off on his head 😂
Congratulations mate! I'm super happy for you to have your own space! Now all you need is a lift!!!
LEGEND - MY MAN! OLD SKOOL MERC IN THE HOUSE
I'm so proud of you, Nino, like watching a son grow old. Keep up the good work, my friend!
Nice garage! Congratulations and success!
This car deserves to be restored. The way it is now is really painful to see.
I dont know a distributor cap from a petrol cap but love watching these videos. Hoping to get involved with tinkering with cars when i retire...
Amazing way to spend the evening - absolutely love these vids!
Glad you enjoy them!
I cannot tell you how much I want that car. I love it. Truly love it.
I'd love to see you try your hand at body repair. i know you've said you hate that stuff in the past, but you've got nothing to lose on this car, it couldn't get much worse. Take it as practice
Happy for this guy. Very glad he is able to go full time on his passion. Like many others who have 'made it', it's very much a full time effort.
Congratulations on the shop! I never understood how you can work on cars in the elements.
I love this channel. I am an industrial engineer, so cars are not my field, but I am learning along with you.
Mercs of that era looked so much nicer than today's models. The 300 CE was awesome looking. Great to see you've gone full time on UA-cam. It's always a pleasure to see someone make it in life through their own hard work. Well done mate. 😊
Thanks mate
Well done on your new workshop!
Wishing you the best my good man 🙌🙏
Cheers on the new shop! and on the great news of full-time YT! Godspeed!
Appreciate that 🤝
Enjoyed watching the channel grow and looking forward now to even more content. Kudos..👍🏻
Have to say that I'm very happy about you! Love your content, humor sensor and your approach to save these cars. God bless you, your family and this channel. Regards from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Love land yachts. My buddies dad had one with the wheels polished up and slammed
Full rebuild please. And congrats on the new workshop, it should be a gamechanger!
I have a locked large metal box in the garden with petrols containers, propane gas bottle and mini bottles for my gas welder. Better than being in the garage that is attached to the house.
I 2nd this as a storage option for petrol containers, Propane bottles.
lookup Fuelsafe or Chemsafe, very good ways to store dangerous substances :)
Definitely don't want a rocket launch in a attached garage 😮😮😮😂😂😂😂
Incredible to see how far you've come since the channel started. Can't wait to see a two-post ramp in there. Congratulations!
excited for this one!
So pleased for you. Been watching you since the Mini Cooper S days. You deserve it! 👏
Now you’re talking. I love the older Mercs.
This needs to be you first restoration car in your new shop, a start to finish project, your channel will fly and deservedly so 🙌
Restore it, make it look the way it would have looked when it rolled off the showroom floor.
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Set the merc in the corner of workshop strip it down and plug in the welder 👍
The unit is an absolute game changer. So happy for you & the fam.
Excellent troubleshooting process, thoroughly enjoyed it!
40:35 Meowchanic assistant!
43:00 Alan Shearer goal celebration
And congratulations for getting your new very cool place; your workshop!
Superb detective work. I miss my old W124s so much and those little black relay boxes brought it all back
Distributor cap .. I have changed my fuse box on my 260 e.. everything works beautifully now..
My first video I watched of yours
The A6 Quattro 2.5 TDI V6
1.2k views
We all have a shed that is a mess tbh
I watched a few more videos , and what a surprise ..
Getting your own workshop
Everyone is chuffed for you .
Well done .
👍👍😁
Congratulations, on the workshop, and on your dancer abilities. The MB deserves to be restored, good luck.
Congratulations bro 😎 I’m so happy for you mate, well deserved Iv been watching you from the start so I’m very happy to see how far you have come.
Spark plug tester repeated escape attempts had me in stitches.
Brilliant vids, subscribed and all the best. 👍🏻
Well done mate, we need a lot more UK motor content so thank you for that. I love your commitment and honest comment that make it a joy to watch
Got here via the Range Rover video yesterday and really glad I can now add another great car UA-cam channel to the mix....SUBSCRIBED!
Finally! Congratulations on going full time content creator. Thoroughly enjoy watching you work. 👍
Congratulations on your New Shop and going full time on utube you are among my favourite people on utube
Oh yesss great result m8 getting it going nothing is beyond fixing on this channel 💯👍🏻
I really thought you would be more excited about the new unit LOL Well done Nino 👍😎
Man I got goosebumps when you showed the workshop. So happy for you man. I’m new to the channel. I followed all the Mini R53 series and I love your content. Best wishes from Honduras.
Congratulations mate. Having a unit will give you so much more opportunities. You need a ramp now at an angle on right as you look from door. Then you can have atleast 2 cars to potentially work on at once. Only way is up and forward now🎉
Keep up the great videos 👍🏻
NEV videos are some of the longest on UA-cam. So good is the content and presentation the time flies. Keep it going!!
Well done! Continue to film when things go wrong. That’s what make your videos interesting and realistic.
Love watching you trying to fix the cars up, brings back memories from the 80s. Love your patience and your videos
