honestly I dont think musicians go into creating their sound and songs with any intentions of ripping someone off. have you ever been in a band? ive been in many never does anyone sit around saying we should sound like them@@jeffwolfe4058
I serisoulsy listen and seen every band but didn't figure out who Prong was until 7 years ago??? Friends metal friends opening for him looked at my like WTF then haven't stopped and Tommy Victor is the coolest dude walking the earth!!!!! Amazing live!!!! I don't know why it took me that long....and they should be right at the top!!!!
Prong should be huge, they are like the King's X of hardcore thrash. Meaning, everyone loves them but somehow have escaped massive commerical success. Tommy is a riff master.
Just saw Prong with sepultura and testament this weekend. Prong blew me away. I was lucky enough to meet Tommy after the show. Nicest guy ever. Got a picture with him. Will definitely see them again if they come to Orlando
I had the pleasure of hanging out with Tommy, Troy and Ted on this tour at their hotel room in 1992 in Atlanta. Just me and my friend Troy Andersen, Tommy and Troy Gregory just shooting the breeze till dawn. Good times
Me too but it was in Oakland prong opening for Flotzilla, troy was still in Flotz, none the less good time's, especially cause it was a vacation in California, coming from Tucson
The Fathers of groove Metal 🤘🏻 this band and Helmet influenced Pantera and change Metal forever. Prong is a very underrated band, Tommy Victor is a fucking genius!
@@E.C.2 only thing is there are multiple doubled guitar tracks. So it sounds like more than one guitarist on the recordings. It's different live. Their albums sound super thick because of the multilayered guitar tracks all played by 1 man.
Its so great to see so many positive comments about this band. Tommy Victor is Prong - Prong is Tommy Victor! My first band "Terrormony" covered "PrimeCut" when I was in high school. Some 20 years later on the other side of U.S. my band "Envirusment" got to open the show for Prong and Testament. Was a dream never dreamt cause it was to unobtainable to even humor the thought. but it happened and that 16 yr. old kid in me was flipping the fuck out. Tommy was so fucking cool to me. hung out with him for a little bit and still hard to believe. Gave him our cd as he crawled into the back of his van and he gave me a hug and said I love you dude. then I see him at N.A.M.M. event and he saw me and yelled out "Hey Reno" we chatted for a minute and then life pulled in other directions. off I went off he went. Ill never forget meeting one of my musical heroes. Wherever you are Tommy...thank you brother for being so kind.
prong is one of my all time favorites. to me the best of thrash/groove metal examples out there and their sound doesn't sound old at all. timeless classic!
Yea, I got "Prove You Wrong" after I saw a poster on the wall of this little place called The Cannery in Nashville. I remember the moment I first heard the intro. Funny how you lock onto certain memories. Great album.
Man Tommy is the Coolest most down to earth man to walk the earth!!! Couldn't have been luckier to see him live but even meet him....and he sent me a message congratulating me for graduating college!!!! I still can't believe it!!! \m/
I saw Prong in the early 90's at a small club here in Baltimore. Hung out with Tommy in the basemof said club and ate pizza. The drummer walked me and my sister to the car and kissed her hand as we left.
Prong.... f8rst band i saw live... with a very drunk clutch... 30 yrs ago. had a green Tommy vext guitar pick forever. Someone stole it. Ill never forget. It flew towards me and i reached out, closed my eyes and blindly snapped my fingers shut. Left the area in front of the pit and checked. I got it... good times
I'm so glad I found this band about 5 years ago. I'm pretty sure I just stumbled across Snap Your Fingers and I was instantly hooked. Probably the best underground metal band I've heard (Acid Bath is pretty close)
WOW! This seriously takes me back! Beg to differ was the first song and cd that i heard from prong. As a guitar player I immediately picked up on his abundant use of pinch harmonics in rythm parts. Loved the cd and when cleansing came out i was like this Victor guy is the king of guitar tone next to dimebag. Massively influenced me and my bands music at the time and i know many others as well during the 90's
Many many concerts. All your albums. Can't wait to see this amazing band yet again. One of those that have slipped through the cracks of Metal that's still around and prevailant.
Tommy Victor has written so many influential riffs that still inspire me. cant believe I shared a stage with this guy. fried my brains out to this album so many times. one of the most unique dudes in metal. and Wayne static.
I was at a concert of them, INCREDIBLE! It was in 1993, just after listening to some of their albums ... and THEY KICKED ASS ... LIVE!!! One of the best Live Concerts I EVER listened! I´ll never forget ...

Utter carnage, stage diving a plenty and left extremely sweaty and with shirt completely shredded Prong are one of the few metal/hardcore bands I listened to back then who I can still listen to and enjoy
Saw these guys with Helmet a couple years ago in NYC. Absolutely killer show. Got to hang out after with both bands and it was one of the coolest times in my life. All of them down to earth and very friendly. Art Cruz was drummer for Prong but was soon with Lamb of God. He is a beast!
you are absolutely right I agree with you Prong was great I was right in front of Tommy he kicked ass Same for him playing with Steve and Glenn Great show.

Tommy Victor was one of the guys who inspired me to pick up a guitar. He's still the king of dirty harmonics.
My first band was heavily influenced by prong as a unit!!!
And a highly underrated guitar player at that! No wonder why music isn't the same these days ... cause Prong is still underground!!!
There's nothing dirty about those harmonics, they sound beautiful & clean.
@@RasputinPrime75 man Tool really ripped these guys off the instrumentals sound like early Tool

Unbelievable to me that this stuff is 25 years old. Still kicks ass today.

Petition Prong to re-record "Persecution."
1 of the best Crossover instrumentals in history.
"Is this an angry album?"
Tommy: "Definitely. But it celebrates anger. It doesn't bring anybody down."
Prong should be huge, they are like the King's X of hardcore thrash. Meaning, everyone loves them but somehow have escaped massive commerical success. Tommy is a riff master.

I agree. Both bands are too high quality for the masses. Saw Prong a few days ago and met Tommy.@@alexhicks5889

These 3 Guys sound Better Than a Lot of 5 piece Bands🤘🤘🤘
A world class guitarist, bassist and drummer will do that 🤘
Something changed when Mike Kirkland left Prong.
It is easier to be tight when their are only 3 people playing instruments. The more people the more room for error.
Simultaneously,it is more challenging for 3 Men to achieve that big heavy tight chunka chunka sound without second guitarist.
@@E.C.2 only thing is there are multiple doubled guitar tracks. So it sounds like more than one guitarist on the recordings. It's different live. Their albums sound super thick because of the multilayered guitar tracks all played by 1 man.
That tune kicks ass, the groove/ thrash metal era of Prong was so rad
still one of their best song in 2023

This is THE song that introduced me to Prong all those years ago when it released. I was addicted to this song. It's still awesome. Great album too.

Riff and bass line are vicious!

Ted Parsons was a fucking beast on drums. His tenure is when Prong had their best albums, IMO.

Tommy Victor, the king of pinch harmonics...
This footage was far too advanced for humanity at the time.
2021. Still love theses mofos. They let me on there tour bus in 91 when they opened for Ozzy. I was 11 years old then. Crazy. Great memories!
