Kieth, a really fun video...loved how some CF experts flip flop their answers (from what they said at the CF Conference). In watching you on the phone, I think you really enjoyed tightening down and setting the hook on them! It was a chuckle vid. Really appreciate you brother.
Great video. It was nice seeing those other fishermen too. I've been using blue gill for the most part. You have an awesome funny side. Thanks for showing man.
Onetime me and my brother inlaw went catfishing from shore at night . I was tearing the butter ball catfish up my brother inlaw walked down to me and said what bait are you using i`m not catching them like you are . I told him I was using some Freezer Burn Steak . I said look we are in a well to do neighborhood this fish eat good . Keep them coming
Hmmm....I've always used Salt Pork or Bacon in moving water. I like to use a bit of Salt Pork on the hook 1st then Live Worms after it in Lakes. On Trot Lines Salt Pork is hands down the best I've found since it holds on the hook well enough for several cats before having to replace it. I've been using these for over 50 years now down here in Florida and it was taught to me by my Grandfather who used this all of his life down here.

In Manitoba Canada we have more success with real frogs then anything else. Bank fishing on the Red River. It's been a real good year for frogs and the fishing has been great even in the heat. Cast your pickerel rig in with a frog on top hook and a frog leg from said frog above. Most of the time they go for the leg on the lower hook but the leg less body attracts them off course . We pull the top hook completely through the body after first going through the head and then the back and pull hook through. You're welcome

At 70 I've fished a lot of places and caught a lot of catfish. I've found that no one bait works best. A lot depends on the water, type of cats, what they are feeding on, temperature, time of day and lots more. For gently flowing water blood baits work very well. For pond fishing worms or liver work great. For lake fishing it's live bait or fresh shrimp. I've caught catfish in rivers with cut shad or shad gizzards. I still find shrimp the easiest, cleanest bait that catches a wide selection of sizes and types of catfish. Dump some aged milo over the side before fishing the area for cats.
Gizzard shad always works, (no substitute for a cast net) TBH though, cherry jello chicken breast works awesome and gets almost as many bites in my side by side tests, plus it's always available.
When I used to fish in Virginia, I bought Eels and caught a lot of catfish. Eel stays on the hook, forever. Hard to cut the big ones in chunks, need a good dry rag to hold onto them. The smaller ones about as big around as a finger put on whole and let the swim around like a giant worm.
We call them "Bony Bream" over here in Australia. I never tried using them as a bait, I will give it a go. Fresh water my number 1 bait has always been live shrimp, but our catfish don't grow anywhere near as big as yours. But the hotdog man may be onto something, I have caught them on the kids leftover cooked beef sausage before lol
