One of my old good friends used to walk backwards when he set the hook and was fighting a fish like you do, one day we were fishing on a dock and he thought he was walking backwards down it but he went at a angle and fell in the water lol. I've watched him back up and trip over rocks, fall in mud holes, hit his head on tree limbs and all kinds of stuff haha. He still does it though 20 years later

He would take a can of alpo dog food punch holes in the can soak it in cherry jello tie a rope to the can toss it out 15 feet or so from the bank and set his fishing pole up near the can and catch every big catfish in the lake

That's how it always happens. The second you stop staring at your poles the drag starts ripping. Ive lost 2 poles this summer, talk about heartbreaking. Just knowing you had something big on there and now your pole is history too.
need some rod holders that are solid so you can keep your line tight so when the fish bite the circle hooks it hooks them better, either that or the bait is too big and the hook isnt in a good position when you lose those two that seemed to be running. but ya i dont like fishing slack for any fish really i would rather have my pole set up where even if a big fish hit it the rod isnt going in water so can keep the line tight.

Bank fishing is awesome, you just have to right the right spots. Don't go to the same fishing spots as everybody else. Be willing to walk and you can find some amazing untapped fishing for ALL species from the bank.

It's all about location and bait and the willingness to move around until you find the fish. I usually just let everything go. I do fish for crappie and walleye in the winter if I'm wanting to eat some fish.
What part of Tennessee are you in to fish. I live right near the Tenn GA line in GA. We tend to have to fish in rough bottom water but get to land some good fish.
@@EastTennesseeWhiskers I fish nottley and blue ridge as well as Carter's. I live about 4 miles from caters and caught the first large stripe bass out of caters that was about 41 pounds. I've caught catfish out of ponds as well as the lakes that went into the 40+ pound range. I got the biggest channel catfish out of a large holding pond that is used for a plant nursery, it was a 44 pound fish that I had to shoot 3 times before I could dress it out to eat. It was one of the cleanest tasting catfish I've ever had. Most really big catfish does not taste as clean as a smaller fish I like to get the 10-20 pound fish to eat.
Great video, just got a couple of questions. Here in Illinois we are limited to using only two rods at a time. How many rods can you use at once? It seems like at least 6 in this video. The way you have your rods leaned up over the cooler, don't the lines tangle with each other when you start to reel one in? Thanks
We have no rod limit here. Sometimes they will get tangled up but it's just the risk we take using so many rods. They are all casted in different directions.

@@slaisebam no, I'm not intentionally smacking the actual fish. I'm trying to smack the eye of the hook to pop it out. It's a lot better than taking plyers and creating a bigger hole in the fish's mouth by ripping the hook out.

@@phflhs I partially agree but most of these things aren't talked about when it comes to bank fishing. The frustrations are higher when fishing from the bank. If you're in a boat, you have endless opportunities to move around and avoid these struggles.

I've owned a lot of boats and some of the biggest dick heads I've ever seen ran across my line's bank fishing or boat fishing. They all think they're in the bass master classic.
My camera that I film with does not have a wide-angle lens, so I have to stay further back to turn the camera on. I'm actually getting a new camera today so hopefully I can be closer to my rods.

I prefer a 9/0 or a 10/0 circle hook and I think 25lb Monofilament is enough to get the job done but too each their own.

i have the same blue wagon. i really like mine it carries all my stuff and makes a great rod holder.
It does a great job.

Bro why do you back paddle when setting your hook? Personally I believe you could lose more than you catch.
Putting more bend in the rod to secure a solid hookset with the circle hooks.
Yea remaining flat foot seems more secure to me as well. But I think people feel things differently and adjust accordingly
Maybe learned it from Catfish Dave. He used to run a hundred yard dash setting a hookup.

😂😂 I'm smacking the hook eye to pop the hook out instead of yanking it out with plyers. It's actually a very common practice.
