i played this game when is was 17
knowing that a lot of people on Platinum were former employees of Capcom, I can't help but think that this is what inspired Astral Chain. Even the behaviour of the Legions and their attachment to the protagonist's arm is really similar

I got this game right after its release in 2003, I was 9 years old at the time. I played this non stop. It didnt take me long to beat the entire game. Seeing this gameplay for the first time in over 15 years is truly nostalgic and gives me chills. This game along with Legacy of Kain : Defiance, Resident Evil 4, Dantes Inferno and God Of War 1 were amongst my favorite games.

@@GameinMemoria for what reason this game is awful because of scenaro, because of level design and because of not interesting main hero (as well as others). This game is forgotten and deserve it. Capcom wanted to get more money and because of their greed, they're created a trash intead of good game, using a dmc hype as well. BUT, the story, character and monster design all of it has a great potential. And if someone will decide to create a remake, I want they to create a good game. People must love their work, and not supposed to be greedy.

Hey Astral Chain fans! Ever since Astral Chain was announced it reminded me of Chaos Legion
I'm glad I experienced this game because it makes me appreciate Astral Chain even more as a spiritual successor

@@Uzumakimenma1234If I remember it correctly, you can only change them in the beginning of each stage. You have to stick with them for that stage until you progress though.
This game made me fall in love with the idea of summons and pets. Ender Lillies took a lot from this formula and applied it to a Metroidvania style.
Did You try Astral Chain? It have same battle mechanism :D
@@GameinMemoria I have not and currently my Switch is in storage until Metroid Prime 4 releases. I have seen some gameplay and it looks a bit too "noisy" or "messy" for me. Still doing research though.

The blasphemy kick is my favorite
Very easy to see where Platinum was inspired by this game when making Astral Chain's combat system. Though it's also neat to see how similar yet different the implementation of Legion summons are between the games.

@@GameinMemoria Probably my preference, but I so prefer Adult form Thanatos, mostly because it looks so similar to a Dragon, its roar is unbelievably menacing, attacking animation is a powerful sweeping swing of the hand and that permanent eerie grin it has on its face...
@@morphayangze2737 Hmm... Actually Perfect Thanatos has cool appearance, while Adult Thanatos looks superior resemble a Dragon. During Battle Perfect Thanatos is invincible, it can dash & teleport anywhere. And you're right about Adult Thanatos, its sweeping & roar really amazing ^_^

@@GameinMemoria YES! I fully agree, it just needs a touch up on graphics, maybe fine tune a few bits of the combat. Mainly around the legions themselves. And maybe have the story reworked, honestly I don't remember the story of the game being that fun or interesting.
1:30 that's disappointing, this ability was a counterattack so you should have cast it right before the enemy strikes.

*Shield legions* , when summoned on defense mod(or normal) they can block all normal projectiles and physical attacks and transform it into charging power(on thier back the tattoo change its color as it charge) to release it with the attack order.

My fave has to be the underrated shield legion, they can store enemy hits then unleash it on boss for an insta kill

WHAAAAT!? But you missed the best part of the hatred legion. The big muscle arm looking guys. They do a special attack if you counter attack or something.
They will grab smaller enemies and throw them around 4 or 5 times depending on your upgrades.

I'm always used Guilt and Malice) Thanks to them i succesfully clear normal difficulty, but then hard mode was unlocked, and i drop this excellent game for ages ))
I love to write fan fictions and sometimes I write them just for myself. I wrote an entire sequel to this game just because I wanted the story to keep going.

I wish Astral Chain was cannon to Chaos Legion lol. Clearly the ideas are the same in terms of Legions! Just from a much different generation. But at least Astral Chain truly delivered no matter what! They nailed it to its core and gave us a modern Chaos Legion we been wanting in a sense.

You forgot to show that Hatred's "special Action" is a counter move which can affect bosses. And that Flawed are shield bearers in defense state.

He's just show casing the summons. In practice you're fighting along side them. This rivaled dmc back then. They really nailed this concept and dmc 5s V fell very short.

U can't upgarde Player Stat, his stat & ability based on Legion Stat. Just Level Up Legion's Ability :D

Many reviewers said that, Chaos Legion is a good game, but DMC is better. May be Capcom have a plan to make a sequel, but they don't have something new to make Chaos Legion break the wall ^_^
Devil May Cry was a commercial success and the precursor to pretty much the whole "Stylish Action Genre"
Capcom have a huge catalogue of underrated games like this, but they won't resurrect them unless they see some potential for profit.

Yes, you can. Just upgrade Enchant to max level. You can use ability without equipt the legion 😀

I dunno how think everyone, but, when i replayed this game in PS2, i've use only Guilt & Malice in entire basic, 'cuz i think others (but Thanatos) are sucks, and because I wanted collect all Thanatos Crests, I've use other crosses only in those locations where they needed to get 1 of 9 part of crests.
Because the rest of legion is suck
Especially if you play on USA version where normal is actually hard+ in japan
Japanese hard mode doesn't have as many enemy, lower defense & higher ATP as USA normal
USA hard is borderline unplayable, its like playing dark souls NG+7 at lv1 if you don't grind
