Was gonna be a dick and call you out for getting hit in the Volvor fight. BUT! It's a no damage run, not no hit, so I had to let it slide. I'm keeping my eye on you, though! Lol

He opted out of using the main gimmick of the game. The titular legions. One of which is an explosive turtle that you can field goal punt into enemies faces. I love GoW and DMC, but I don't think you can do that in either of those games. Lol
Fatty McBaconpants yeah summoning your legion esp when you summon malice they just shoot your enemies to hell or blasphemy exploding everything just feels so epic and thanatos evolving form is also a nice touch.

This game was doing so many advanced gameplay mechanics for that time. It's like it came from the future. It still is a pure gem to this day, at least with combat mechanics, stunlocks, hitboxes, timings, weak spots, bosses, etc. It was so advanced and polished!
At the time this game was released, Devil May Cry already existed, and it wad way superior

Outside of it being called a Devil May Cry clone.
the game is extremely repetitive, which is why not many ppl liked it.
LITERALLY, 90% OF THE TIME, YOU'RE JUST REPEATEDLY MASHING THE SAME ONE SINGLE BUTTON TO ATTACK ENEMIES, OCCASIONALLY USING a legion for specific sections or bosses.
THERE IS NO COMBO SYSTEM.
THERE ARE NO AIR COMBOS.
The game on a technical and gameplay standpoint is extremely anemic compared to what you can do in devil may cry.
This game received a 4 on GameSpot which is a very fair and accurate score.
For years this game has sat in my subconscious memory

this game somehow hold itself well in 2020. in terms of graphics and such. it's astounding.
ohhhhh man ...what a great memories from the golden age of gaming ..Chaos Legion is one of the few and one of the best capcom games that took avery huuuuuuuge part in my childhood. The characters in this game is sooooo memorable and unique in my opinion, the story is deep and hard to understand, also the soundtracks is amazing and it makes you engaged with the game all the time .
like every capcom game, i bought this game at launch back in 2003 on the ps2 and without kidding i still have this game until now in my collection , i remember when i come back from the school complete playing before going to do my homework ..
I repeated it millions of times and leveled up every legion and used all of their abilities in my playthrough ..the game is hard as hell especially when you play it for the first time and you will die alot until you find the best legions that helps you to progress through the missions and to kill the bosses at the end of every mission ,i remember died ahundreds of times when i played it at the first time , really one of hardest games back in its time in my opinion .
Thanatos always will be my favourite legion especially when you leveled him up at maximum level , he is the strongest one in my opinion , but also every legion has its unique ability and power that helps sieg in his battles ..i also love arcia when you played as her in mission 9 .
I remember get stucked for ages on victor delacroix when i fought him at the first time ,he is waaaay stronger and powerful than me when i faced him and easily killed my legion in 10 seconds ..
Really one of the hardest and memorable boss fights in this game.
Now my burning question is : WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED TO THIS GAME ??? WHY THIS GAME IS UNDERRATED AND IGNORED LIKE THIS ?? I DON'T KNOW WHY CAPCOM DOES NOT MAKE A FRANCHISE FROM IT ..I SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET ALOT AND I DID NOT FIND ANY INFORMATION OR ANY ANSWERS ,
I hope capcom to come back to chaos legion and give it another chance and make atrue sequel from it like they did recently in devil may cry 5 ..this game really needs to revive and to be afranchise like devil may cry .it will be a dream that come true for me ..

Playing as V in Devil May Cry 5 brought back memories of this game. I loved playing it.
I rented this game out on PS2 about 4 times in a month when I was younger. But then it just disappeared from the shelves and no one I knew had ever played the game.

I feel people are missing the fact that this game was not supposed to have "in depth combos and stylistic ways to dispatch enemies" rather it's "do a few button presses with or without your legion to do damage" ( in that sort of sense ) the meat of the game actually is using your legions. Some are useful to some stages, others are not. Each are completely different to one another and helps your main character with not just killing foes, rather when you upgrade them, they give your MC passive abilities like "your sword has extra attacks to it now" or "you can double jump" and upgrade them to the max then all the passive abilities stay with you, with or without your legion at hand.
If you think this game looks easy your way off the goal! This game makes you use the cheapest way to beat it smoothly, if not prepare for a rough ride as your regular enemies can easily MURDER you! Oh and there are 3 difficulties: easy, normal, and hard.
If you still say it looks like a DMC or bayo rip-off then what have you been smoking!? This game is way different than those 2. For one puzzles isn't really a thing ( thank God for this particular game ), 2 as I mentioned earlier, no in-depth combo, and 3: your rewarded greatly for exploring and using different legions in different stages. In fact you can't obtain the ultimate legion without using different legions.
If you still say it don't look good then I suppose it's not your cup of tea :/ not everyone has to like it, I'm just putting all this here as this comment section is filled to the brim of "it looks boring and it also looks like a DMC rip-off" ( also I saw GoW comments which, yet again. Is completely different. Since when have you seen kratos use beings like the MC does? Since when have you seen kratos ever perform use guns? I certainly hadn't ) edit: even in the first TUTORIAL boss fight shadowswerg here limited himself from using the legions which is the main way of dealing damage ( aside crits ofc, then again crits isn't easy to come across )

I remember playing this back in 2004 or 2005, I had a blast with it.
This is a game I want to see come back as a remake or a new project. I loved the mechanics with the legions, the aesthetic was great, the character and enemy design (even with the old graphics) was great, and the OST fits it perfectly.
I hope that Capcom will bring it back after Dragon's Dogma 2, they have an amazing team for action rpgs and open world games, it can be amazing.

I would buy this again easily, I remember trying to do no damage runs just because I liked it so much.
I also once played this gane somewhat unorthodoxly; in my case, after beating stage 9 and unlocked the replay-previous-stages function, I just wemt on to the rest of the game instead of grinding. The final boss is pretty brutal at that situation, dealing just way too much damage.

Had this game on PC and even though camera control was horrible I liked it a lot. The concept of having different legions with active/passive actions is great.

Here I thought I considered myself as quite a decent player of this game (for, among other things, finishing hard mode without backtracking at all and thus no Thanatos, though it took me a couple of tries).Seeing you taking absolutely no damage without using legion, not even Assist, truly impresses me. Well done.

This is play on emulator, that why it look good and sharp. PS2 highest definition 480p using component cable still look good now

To be honest, Chaos Legion bosses tend to have specific patterns, so once you know exactly what the boss is going to do, it's just a matter of positioning yourself and timing your attacks.
Still, the fact that ge didn't even use Assists, and his occasional near misses, are pretty impressive, though I wonder if this is because the PS2 version is more finely tuned and thus has more lenient hitboxes (if I were to do many of the near misses he did, such as with the Zagan bosses, in PC, I'm pretty sure I would take the hit)

Well, yeah. Counters do 1.5x the damage of regular hits, and they get you more EXP.

This game is so weird. It is ther perfect "meh" game. And I mean that in a positive way. I like this game a lot, but there is no denying that it isn't as memorable as DMC1 for example. Or, at least, it shouldn't be, but it still is. I remembered this game as "that one mediocre game I played, back in the good ol' days" and when I bought it again in 2015, I actually liked it quite a lot. The environments look kinda bland, but the artstyle is memorable. The enemies themselves are nothing special, but their design is interesting. (The Legions all look awesome though.) The story is nothing to write home about, but the cutscenes have this weird cinematography thing going on, so they stuck with me. The music is great and the gameplay is enjoyable, even if a little too simplistic.
Tl;dr: The game just has a certain charme to it, that's hard to explain.

this game is not from my CH(Childhood) but I enjoyed it I still owned this game I bought it in 2008(I didn't have a Job at the time when this game came out til 2007)
Funny how you deciding against using Legions showed a side of Siela I did not know... during the first batch of multiple iron golems, she lost her patience with you and started moving on with her assault anyway... something that didn't happen further despite you taking even more time with iron golems.
So I'll let you in on a different secret regarding her. Take bombs to the fight with her and chuck them at the iron golems and at her while she's circling around in black aura. She actually takes damage from Blasphemy. Succeed enough and you'll piss her off - she'll pull out a black whip to whack you and can even summon a bombardment from above like she does from the center of the arena, only from the side, so much easier to dodge since over half of the arena is fair game. It can still catch players off guard though because as we can see from the fight, she's very schematic - blow that schema to hell by damaging her when you shouldn't be able to and she'll retort accordingly.
