Im so happy to find your video! You are informative; thank you! I was given one of these as a sweet gift from someone in California. It's adorable but started getting yellow leaves near the top. It is dry here in Minnesota during the winter. After watching this, I put it in a terrarium that has a hole in the side. It should hold moisture in. I misted the insides of the glass and placed it bu the grow light. Fingers crossed! I will use fertilizer on the next watering.
I live in SoCal and I’ve moved most of my Hoya and Dischidia from inside to an outside south facing area. What a difference in growth and pinkish red blushing. Good tips. Thanks!
Hi. Thanks for your video. So you have just confirmed what I was suspecting as for dischidia watermelon's blooms. I have mine for several months now, it's growing very nicely, it has a bit of sunstress on some leaves. It also has some of those bloom clusters, that look like tiny tulips coming from one tiny stem. But.. it's been quite a long time and I really start to think, that they will never open up. I hardly see any movement there, it's even difficult to see if there is any colour to it. They look greenish/brownish, similar to the leaves. So I'm wondering if I'd be lucky enough to see them open. I have it under a grow light together with my hoyas. I try to keep the humidity a bit increased, since I live in Canada, where aside of some weeks in the summer when humidity is very high, but then the airconditioning is removing it drastically), the every day indoor air is dry. Thanks, I find your video very helpful. Take care.😊
Dischidia are actually quite closely related to Hoyas, they have similar care needs in general but due to the variability of Dischidia and Hoyas care can differ quite a lot between species. They are not related to peperomia, although the plant you may be thinking of, referred to as a watermelon peperomia is Peperomia Argyreia and the watermelon dischidia is Dischidia Ovata, theyre completely different plants but share similar common names. Hope this helps :} !
Wow Erika has been on a posting splurge lately, and we are really enjoying them. 😁
Your posts make me so happy, and seeing u talk about your plants with that big smile 💚

I almost bought one today. First time I’ve seen one in person here in MI. I love Hoyas so this is up my alley!

Look at you, 50k subs!!!??????💋
How do you propagate it?
What's a cloash
A glass dome
Yes a little dome to put over & trap the humidity
I was wondering the same thing.

Are dischidia different from peperomias? I thought this plant was called a watermelon peperomia or is dischidia another name for it?
A watermelon Peperomia is a very different plant, but they both kind of look like watermelons 🍉
