Kevin you are my favorite plant influencer. You are so bubbly, concise in info and just a treasure to watch. I tell my mom we are friends, even though you don’t know me :) It’s like watching my bestie do plant stuff. Thanks for all your help in all your videos & helping me decide on what and how to do hydroponics as I am transitioning my first plant. Also damn you for making all those Hoya videos and making me want all your plants! ❤😊 I have some hot wish list plants I’ve purchased from watching you. Just wanted you to know you are so appreciated and adored. ❤
Stay out of your head! This is the best hydroponic video I've watched! You are easy to listen to and thorough without making the viewer anxious about transitioning to this process! You are very relatable and realistic. And it doesn't hurt that you have a great personality! Keep shining! ♥️ Now I'm off to to get my supplies to get started!
If you let tap water sit in large containers, I use plastic gallon containers, with the Caps off, the chlorine will evaporate in a few days. I have been using this with no problem. I also have one of those large watering pitchers with the spout in which I add the liquid fertilizer to.
Omg Kevin you are an absolute gift. Thanks for this, I've only done soils and regular hydro before, and when I found out about pon and leca semi-hydro, I had to try it. Thanks for not splitting this all into 50 videos, I got to chill and listen to someone talk about my favorite subject
THIS has to be THE BEST semi hydroponics video I've watched!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this, and learnt a lot! I'm about to try my hand at this and have been looking at so many videos! This was great! Thankyou so much for sharing!
You know, a person's plants are a reflection of themselves. Not just their tastes and design ability but I mean their very nature. A person who is kind and giving and pays attention to detail and the needs of others will have plants that thrive. Because they need love too. You, my friend are just adorable. Hugs from California.
Hi Kevin! I’ve been doing passive hydro for a year now and I found this video and added Rapid start and diamond nectar to my routine and followed your recommendations to the t. And I couldn’t believe how my plants have grown so much, healthy and very lush! Thank you, thank you for this video!😘
I personally wouldn't recommend using the recommended dosage on the bottle because this might burn the plant depending on the size of it. Start with half the dosage maybe and ramp up as the plants grow bigger.
Thanks for an in-depth intro to semi-hydro. My newly acquired silver dragon is a spider-mite magnet! I'm so encouraged by the results of your own silver dragon that I will be starting semi-hydro in pots for the first time today.
I just started using leca and I am a COMPLETE beginner. This video gave me life!! I loved listening to you and there is so much good information that gives me confidence. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Orange juice is an acid! Just because a liquid is an acid doesn't make it dangerous 😊 what makes an acid or base dangerous is if they're on the extreme end of the pH spectrum ❤️ thanks for the video!! It was super helpful.
Hey, great video! I just want to clarify one thing for everyone that uses pH down or up. A base solution is JUST AS harmful as an acid one. They both burn or irritate your skin because they are both solutions of reactive ions. So please be careful with both
A more natural way would be to use baking soda to bring pH up and lemon juice to bring the pH down. I've done this with plants in water and it works great and doesn't harm the plant roots as long as you use the right amounts.
I just got my first bag if leca today and wasn't really sure what steps to take and how difficult it would be, but you really explained it well. I saved this video so I can refer to it later. Thank you.
Oh my gosh why didnt I see this sooner! Have been using leca for months now and have now been successful but this video could have saved me a lot of trial and errors 😂 still learned a lot, thank you!
I watch all your videos Kevin. I have recently bought all the products you use and have planted a lot of my Hoya in leca and pon. I’m a little nervous about transferring from soil though for my Serpens anyway. I do love your Hoya videos regardless of what you said in one of your videos though.
The nutrients will all work to change the over-all PH, for example, the calcium and magnesium solution is going to be quite alkaline (basic) and will bring the PH of the water down. I used to know how to calculate the change but I’m old and my brain just can’t hold on to that info anymore 😂. The test kit is perfect! I love this video it’s so thorough and informative! 💜 thank you!
I certainly liked your detailed coverage of the topic It will make it complete if u pl answer 1- whether the nutrients water u made has any shelf life ? Needs to be placed in a dark corner ? 2- how do u manage plant care if u r going to be away on a long vacation say a month ? 3- the nutrient water u made is universally good for all sorts of plants or u need to tune it differently for different varieties 4- in terms of care & attention demanded, is leca not more demanding than conventional soil ? Thanks again for a great video dear
Thank u so very much for this video! I've seen quite a few n urs is by far the most detailed along with the visuals! I'm a lady of a certain age 🤣😂 so the visuals helped tremendously. Ur a gem 💎
I've been doing semi-hydroponics for almost a year now and started with Minimalist Cali's series. Since then I've watched a ton of YT videos on semi-hydroponics and yours comes closest to what I do. It's also hands down the most informative video for starters as it answers all the basic questions. The only difference in our process is that I start with a lower ml of the GH series for newly converted plants. I also do not use the Rapid Start or Daimond nectar, but I plan to add Floralicious Plus to my routine this summer instead of those two cuz I have heard it works to flush plants well. 🇨🇦 Love our TO tap water.
This is a great video! The only thing I like to do a bit differently is to have water in the pot while adding the leca. I find that it helps get the leca into all the little spaces as well as hitting the pot to knock it all into place. It’s especially helpful when setting plants with more delicate or intricate root systems into leca since the water helps to spread the roots out as well.
It's so inspiring to see that all of your plants are doing so so well in hydroponics! I've always been a bit confused with how the nutrients and watering works in these setups so thank you so much for being so informative about it 😁
Thank You Thank You Thank You. So very comprehensive but common sense too… brilliant… I feel a bit more like I know what I should be doing now. I am just starting my Leca journey brought about my many attempts to rescue my poor beautiful Alocasias from 2nd attack of spider mite in a short period… I so want to expand my Alocasia collection but holding on until competent with Leca and nutrition application. Thanks again 👍👍👍❤️
Thank you for doing this video, it made Leca less intimidating and this video no doubt will be one of my "go-to" videos when it comes time for me to switch some of my plants to Leca.
Hi Kevin. I had to go back and watch your videos about nutrients needed for hydroponics because (I know I am late to the game) I will soon transition my Hoyas to Pon. Thank for very detailed information.
I am so glad I found this video. You really stand out! Professionally done, informative, and funny. HakunaLaPlanta?! hilarious. Just perfect. Where the hell have you been for my whole plant education? Planterina just moved to 2nd :)
Thank you for all the information and being so detailed and taking us through the process. As I am starting out you certainly have been the most thorough...

Thank you so much for this video. I am looking to switch to leca. This video was so helpful and answered all questions I had about switching. Thank you!!!

very well done. I was able to follow and now i feel confident to handle the LECA scenario. . nutrients and all. thanks, appreciate the time and effort you put fouth to help educate. . . .im on it!!!
I used what you have suggested. Just the GH 3 basic system and my plants are doing so well already. :-) Thanks to your video . And love love all your plants. They all look crazy amazing
Excellent video. I'm trying out LECA for the first time and, learning from UA-cam. Your video was very good. Looking forward to watching more, as I subscribe. Well done
First time watching you! Very informative, but not overly, lol! Your plants are gorgeous, and you are completely adorable! Thank you for all your helpful knowledge ❤❤
I’ve been growing semi hydro for yearssss in LECA, way before it even became popular in the hobby, but I learned so much from this video. When I first started there was pretty much no info for houseplants so I just learned through trial and error. I really appreciate how detailed you went and definitely got so much out of your recommendations for your ferts!! I’ve been debating going back to full LECA after trying out chunky aroid mix for a few months now and I’m sold. Especially after seeing your gorgeous beauties and how ginormous they are 🤩🌿✨ thank you for inspiring meeeee
@@ReisePiece I would also use some myco like Great White and you can also use some rooting hormone or transplant compound to lessen the chance of shock:)
Honestly best video I've ever seen to start this journey and I can't thank you enough! You make it so easy and informative. Definitely subscribed! ❤️👏👏👏
I am glad I found you here👍 And I appreciate your informations how to plant of using Leca. Absolutely a fantastic video! The best one I've seen so far, and probably the last one for me, because I received ALL the info I needed to move my baby Adenium plants to LECA medium. I have 50 of them, and I was wondering for the need of an individual pot, rather than having them in rows of five, for easier maintenance. Thank you very much for providing so much info. Greatly appreciated. Regards, and happy 2022 from the Tucson Arizona desert, where today, December 28, 2021, the sun is shining and the temp is in the upper 70F degrees.
Great video with lots of good knowledge! I’ve just found out about LECA yesterday, and you have helped me to expand my knowledge. I know what it’s like to get stuck in my head with worry, but everything always has a way of working out.
Thank you for taking the time to be so informative. As soon as my mind was forming a question, you answered it. Amazing job, and so easy to screenshot your details. 💜
A-May-Zing. Never seen a better tutorial for anything in my life. And I love your personality. I’m going to be binge watching all of your videos now lol goodbye sleep we don’t need you anymore
Since I'm about to begin my journey using Leca, I find that your videos are very informative--and I like that you get right to the point. I love your beautiful and bubbly personality, and the backdrop of your videos is pleasing to the eye. Newly subscribed and a 👍! Looking forward to your input.
Hi from Sweden Kevin! 👋🏻 First of all I absolutely LOVE your channel! I stumbled upon your videos while researching how to best care for my first Thai constellation that is on it’s way (fingers crossed I won’t kill it), and I’m obsessed with you after this. You have really been an inspiration, and I’m really eager to try out leca hydroponics! I have a few things that I’m wondering about - is it necessary when using leca to have a gap in the bottom between the outer and the inner pot? Or can the inner pot stand at the bottom of the outer? 🤔 - How do you size up your pots without damaging the roots. For example your thai constellation who’s ALL over the place poking out everywhere? 😅 Do you cut the roots to get it out, or is the no problem just to pull them out? - Also, when do you know that a resizing is needed in leca? Thank you for some great content! Can’t wait for more of your lovely videos! ❤️❤️
Wow!! Great video... very informative... I just found your channel just as aI'm about to embark on my leca journey with my plants. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this. 💝👍👍
I will definitely be recommending your video to all my friends who are needing help understanding leca hydro. Thank you for this clear and detailed informative video!
this is very informative and the details is just right👍🏻 seeing the change of season i think its time for another plant tour Spring edition pretty pls!😍
the best, most thorough leca info video I've seen!!...& I've watched A TON! slow enough to keep up but the pace was perfect! love the summary and time stamps at the beginning so I can save your video & quickly refer back to specific segments when I need. subscribed! 😃
Thank you for making this video! I just found your channel and are going back and watching every video from at least a year back :D I want to try hydroponics for some of my plants, and this video is really informative! Thank you! :D
This was super helpful and easy to understand! I really like how you explained the importance of each step that goes into your routine. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
i use tap water too, but i fill up my jugs and let them open to "breathe" for a day or 2. i read somewhere in internet land that this is supposed to allow some of the nasties to evaporate. wether this is true or not...ill never know, but ive had heathy plants over the years :)

How you you transfer alocasia from soil to semi hydro without causing them to go into shock and fail?

I stumbled upon your videos while researching how to best care for my first Thai constellation that is on it’s way (fingers crossed I won’t kill it), and I’m obsessed with you after this. You have really been an inspiration, and I’m really eager to try out leca hydroponics!
I have a few things that I’m wondering about
- is it necessary when using leca to have a gap in the bottom between the outer and the inner pot? Or can the inner pot stand at the bottom of the outer? 🤔
- How do you size up your pots without damaging the roots.

Gracias!! Eres lo máximo!!! 😊😊😊
This is so useful!!! Question, how often do you add the nutrients?
i use tap water too, but i fill up my jugs and let them open to "breathe" for a day or 2. i read somewhere in internet land that this is supposed to allow some of the nasties to evaporate. wether this is true or not...ill never know, but ive had heathy plants over the years :)
