- After weeks of practice and a failed attempt, here are the highlights to the world's first ever blindfolded Super Mario Odyssey run! The entire run took just over 12 hours, but I did my best to cut it down into something more watchable!

This is actually one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. I would have imagined that the first recorded blindfolded run would have been like twice this amount, what with all the crazy platforming and things you'd have to remember, and especially since at the time an hour was about the record for a non-blindfolded run.
My favorite part of the video is when Smant was humming along with snow kingdom and then mario bonked perfectly in time

that was funny, but I'm pretty sure there's a bunch of blindfolded runs for other games, so as far as "rules for a blindfold run" go, he can't really make them up. Of course, I see nothing wrong with taking a break in the menu ;)

What is allowed in some games is not allowed in others.
For instance in most games it is required to play on a completely untouched save, but some games have things that are really cool and save a ton of time on the 2nd play through, so they just do that instead (or stupid RNG that can be fixed).
As someone above said, as long as people agree with it, it's ok.

That's so impressive! Its so amazing how many hours of practising and paying attention to audio cues has lead to this, it seems so natural (well...90% of the time). Some of the tricks you pull off are hard enough without a blindfold on! I'm so happy you managed to beat it after so many hours poured into the game. Bravo!

This is probably faster than my first time playing oddysey
t face value this is beyond incredible. Somehow it gets more unbelievable the deeper one analyzes what you've done here. During your run you perform hundreds upon hundreds of orientation movements, spacial placement maneuvers, and intricately exercise fine granular camera control based on whatever your current task requires. This is what I find to be the most impressive part of this achievement! All it would take is a small deviation from your planned route to become disoriented and potentially lose time or force a restart... But even when there was one of your very, very few minor missteps in this run, you immediately had a contingency in place and were able to reorient yourself to your desired spacial placement and direction.
This is beyond Super Mario Odyssey. This is a vehicle on which you display a skill set that is something entirely difficult to comprehend from an outside perspective. I know I sure don't have the ability to commit to rote memory the kind of detail required to never miss a single step in something so insanely complex. On top of processing your exact coordinates and plane of view at nearly the rate of a computer, you still have to physically control the character and deal with the game mechanics...
This is amazing, and I congratulate you on your new personal best and of course the world record. Looking forward to more content sometime. You've set the bar really high, but I have no doubt you have the determination to succeed in something even more unbelievable.

Indeed I did. It feels like a lot of moments similar to that are on purpose. In the escape sequence, he jumps with the rhythm of the music. It might have to do with the strategy for doing it.

@@Julian-rr3vw well the runners that run the game everyday could probably do each Kingdom with a blindfold on just as fast as they could if they had their eyes open. I'm fairly decent at speed running and I can do all of cascade, cap and sand just as fast as normal with a blindfold on
