- Witness a Belgian F-16 pilot redefine the boundaries of physics in this extraordinary video! The "Dream Viper", as the Belgian F-16 is called, performs an unbelievable air show in Salon-de-Provence, France.
Vrieske, the Belgian F-16 pilot, executes maneuvers that seem to defy the laws of physics. With unparalleled expertise, he pushes the limits of what the F-16 can do. Get ready to have your perception of what's possible challenged as you witness this unbelievable display by the Belgian F-16 pilot.
In my opinion one of the most beautiful airframes ever made! Shear artistry in the air❤
It's beautiful but definitely debatable .... F14 & F15 and Mig 29 & Su 33 on the other side are also majestic.. but the F16 is different, starting with the single engine, and it's placement, then the bubble canopy... amazing timeless aircraft.
@@canconservative8976 if you told me that plane could stop in midair, and start again, I would believe you!
Best F-16 demonstration I've seen. He can handle the negative Gs like a boss. Pretty unique maneuvers, way more rudder than I expected.
Think if he got a MIG 29 then what he can do ! Amazing things
Best and most dangerous, and difficult display of air airmanship I have ever witnessed.
HANDS DOWN THE BEST F16 DEMO IVE EVER SEEN. THOSE NEGATIVE G MANEUVERS ARE JUST INSANE 🙏🏼
In my opinion Vrieske stands alone in the worldwide air display circuit as the reigning F-16 demonstration pilot.
Many a US- built airframe got mastered by European pilots.
Legend has it Vrieske calls home his Viper cockpit.
As for great Aero enthusiast for nearly 50 years I can tell here for sure that I have never seen such a skillful pilot as Mr. Steven De Vries.
He is the best of the best, better than anyone!
I have seen test pilots do better at Farnborough airshow decades ago.
OK, mate, put it away. 😄
@@deang5622 This thing that British and Americans have it longest of all, has got a little tired. Can't you just admit that people with pyramid shaped balls exist all over the world?
@@TClaudio70 I don't know anyone with pyramid shape balls, so I am afraid I can't help you.
Perhaps if you made a non silly post I might be able to.
As for great Aero enthusiast for nearly 50 years I can tell here for sure that I have never seen such a skillful pilot as Mr. Steven De Vries.
He is the best of the best, better than anyone!
Like a Dolphin in the Water.. perfect Show and great Camera movement. really impressive.❤
Absolutely superb display because of its masterful airmanship, inventiveness, and wonderful artistry. A very welcome change from the usual precise 'runs on rails' F16 displays that haven't really changed in the decades I've been watching them. Only small criticism was that the second roll at 3:25 was not needed at that height! Many thanks.
Yeah, that second roll was pushing it !
The USA doesn’t allow many things in demonstrations
I've seen him performing live and compared to the other f-16s performances that day this pilot really knows the limits. I've only seen stuff like this in sim.
Belgium has some VERY talented pilots, they know the F-16 just as intimately as US pilots and its quite obvious in this video. Great flying!
Well said!
He is one of the Belgian pilots, who got their F35 training done. Seems he got some inspiration from it, we are very proud of our tactical wings, they also had missions in the Middle East, with NATO. 🇧🇪 💪
One hell of a show displaying exceptional airmanship in an aircraft which has excelled in every way possible, and still does.
This is so beautiful and so surreal. I've never seen anything like that. This pilot is dansing with his jet. It looks like he deliberately destabilizes the aircraft and then takes it completely under his control defeating the onboard computer. I didn't even know that F16 is capable of such moves.
That said, it is skin-freezing to think what these machines are made for and I wish one day the only purpose of these fighter jets will be airshow and demonstrations of pilot's and fight's capabilities which will never be used for making war and killing people.
"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one"'

I think that what all those rudder inputs and crossed up controls was to demonstrate 1) this guys absolute mastery of keeping this aircraft from departure to uncontrolled flight or 2) block ?? software and IMU upgrade that allows this old airframe to operate point and shoot. I know just enough about this not to be able to really tell the difference, but if you watch all the new aircraft the controls are all mixed to get the aircraft to go where they want it to, and its counterintuitive to normal inputs. Gen 5 fighters are like this, maybe they taught an old dog new tricks... it would save on pilot training...
It truly is like he defeated the computer enhanced stability and provided it himself…with a lot more imagination that any computer programmer ever.
Totally agree. We need to remove all weapons capabilities on these and strictly use them for demo teams and solo displays. From Fighter Jets to Freedom Flyers
Super
He’s got the idea. Fly just above stall to avoid stress on the airframe and those maneuvers become magic.
Go zero G and the thing will flip anywhere you want it to go
Well done to the pilot! Bloody good show Mister. 😎👍
I think the f16 was such an awesome jet that it helped sell f35’s to the world.
......and if both helped to take the whole humanity inside a bloody and destructive global war as it has never been before......
It still is a brilliant plane.
The Dancing 16!! Absolutely Beautiful!!
Very Daring at such a low altitude. Awsome flying skills. Enjoyed this spectacular flight. Thanks for posting.
I would like to see someone re-create this show in DCS.
Uitstekend prestaties; geweldig voorstelling. Echt tof!
I have never seen a falling leaf maneuver being performed in a jet fighter. Its actually a very old aerobatic maneuver that is rarely seen nowadays. Great to see it performed in a jet which requires great flying skill to get it right. Well done to the pilot who makes it look effortless.
Best F-16 display i have seen in my life. Loads of negative G's there...Well done to the pilot...
Not a pilot myself, so I was wondering if the overcast sky makes this sort of flying even more challenging. Regardless, it brings back fond memories of Belgium and its very underrated quisine and sense of humor. 🙋 from U.S.
The overcast isn't a problem so long as it doesn't obscure obstacles the pilot needs to avoid, or from the crowd's perspective their ability to see the plane doing it's thing of course.
@@avi8r66 Interesting. Thank you!
That driver is throwing that plane all over the place for all its worth. Awesome display
I have seen better with a Typhoon. And a Typhoon in the hands of a test pilot, even better.
Great display and perfectly captured on camera !
F-16's have been doing this for over 40+ years !!! 👍
Best viper demo I’ve ever seen 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I had the pleasure of serving my military duty as a bartender at the now cancelled 23rd Devils squadron at Kleine Brogel Belgian Airforce base from '92 to '93. It was a nice experience following the daily activities of the pilots of our squadron.
He is surely in for an award during RIAT 2023.
Indeed interesting slow speed, negative G, rudder based manoeuvres change from purely kinectic / vectorised engine based ones.
What the heck?! You can’t do that with an airplane. Well maybe that pilot can:-). Fantastic solo display - the best i’ve ever seen.
This is the most unique and interesting air-show routine I might have ever seen. The F-16 has always been a favourite of mine and in fact, when Canada chose the F/A-18 I felt that they should have ordered a bunch of F-16's too because of their unique capabilities. Heck, I wish Canada would still consider buying a bunch of A-10's or better yet get permission to build them here in Canada.
But I digress. >>
This routine was very cool and did well to show off the F-16's high maneuverability as well as it's low-speed, high angle of attack flight as well. Several things this pilot did are reminiscent of more modern aircraft that have Thrust Vectoring.
Excellent Video. It's a keeper. :)
Although, as good as the F16 is. If you want a small, relatively low-cost airframe. You can't do better than a Grippen. It surpasses the F16 in every category.
Agreed. Canada needs a batch of warthogs, F-16s, and a flock of Gripens for good measure.
i think this is the best f16 solo display ive ever seen.
This is exactly how i've always envisioned myself flying around in one of those. 😮
Virtuoso skills, let him teach these skills!!
"Vrieske" is indeed among the best out there!
thank you very much for this magnificent spectacle of the Belgian F16. I hope to see him one day for real
🤞🤞
That's a really aggressive demo! Love it
Finally! A real-world example of the 24-7 vortices in DCS.
This is just a crazy fly 👏👏👏👏to this pilot i'm proud of him🙏💪🥰🇧🇪
Great flying, and excellent photography!
That was some spectacular display my hat's of to the pilot
wow that's great.. full 360 thrust vectoring... o wait... wrong plane...
I Saw him for the 70 years' patrouille de France anniversaire, it was incredible, more than the F18 and the rafale.
This is the very show from Saturday 😄👌
It's "Top Gun" skill level and beyond.
Enough has been said about the fighting Falcon.
Outstanding camera work. Good choice of music.
Ich kann mir nicht helfen , aber ich liebe die F-14 , F-16 , F-18 , und F-35A/B ❤❤
How does he do that without thrust vectoring??? If the F16 ever got one, this plane could probably outmaneuver a sparrow!!!
Vrieske took off in an F-16 and flew the display in an F-18.
Could you ever have asked for more?.
He could be seen in Motril Intern'l Air Show yesterday, a sunny Sunday morning, btw.
It's the best kept secret. Belgian fighter pilots are the best in the world. Humble and super trained.
Absolute amazing display.
Message from F14 n F18 fan........THIS PILOT is NIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCEEEEE....definitely made the 16 look like the nerve system of the term "nightmare" when its on your 6.....as the saying goes...NO ESCAPE!!!!!☝☝👏👏👏👏👏✊✊
Sorry F4 almost forgot about you too 😉😉😌😌 #ogtopgun
Nightmarish is right! His adversary would just surrender seeing this.
Amazingly skilled and physically fit pilot who is dancing with his aircraft. The US F- 16 Demo team can't even come close to this. Why is it that pilots from European nations especially Dutch, Belgium, and Swiss pilots perform better than their US counterparts in US made aircraft? Is it the skill of the pilot and not the aircraft that matters?
the two best russian aerobatic manouvers are:
cobra = stand still for ground forces to hit you easier with a manpad/riffle/piustol
CFIT 🤣
give this guy a F22 to play with !
What does it mean when the contrail (not sure if that's even contrail since the engine isn't located on the wings but you know what i mean) only comes from one wing? Usually i see it coming from both wings.
water on airstream becames visible due to the infuence of the airplane aerodinamics and/or jet blast ... in a curve only one side of the wings creates the necessary vortex/effects since the inside wing is nearer to stall than the outside one thus the contrail/stream on the outside wing in hard turns
on the other hand it could be just a smoke dispenser on that wingtip hardpoint wich seems to be te case ;)
Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Arlington Tejas de los Esclavos Unidos.
The F16 is a nimble little ballerina with fangs and claws.
Merci
European pilots are the best because the have actual home soil skin in the game.
Swan Lake with a 12 metric ton (26,000 lb) prima ballerina.
❤ Alter Schwede 👍👍, was kann dieset Pilot an G- Kräften wegstecken!😊
As Woody said.."That's not flying".. "It's thrust vectoring with style" ;-)
Impressive !
Nice flying, we train our pilots well 🤘
The kind of flying that gets your ass lit up by a manpad nowadays.
Making the F-16 do UFO stuff 😂
Prachtige Belgische F-16 Dream Viper en mooi opnames Sky and Above 🤩🤟🏼. Gr @berryhaddeman 🙋🏼♂
Pilot Steven De Vries is incredible ... Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching and I agree so much!
Exzellente Flugmanöver. Dieser Pilot ist Spitzenklasse!
Not a military way of flying, looks more like a former aerobatic pilot switching to F-16 😄 Great flying, never seen so many negative maneuvers in a F-16 demo, refreshing!
Ace pilot.
Original exponent of the 'knife fight in a phone booth'.
i am getting dizzy just watching him
Thanks for sharing, the best (IMO) is still the amazing French AF Jaguar Demo Team.
Nope.
Without doubt an innovative display, different from the standard, whatever that is, if you know what I mean. His 4 point rolls were a little sloppy though😂
I want to see an inverted approach to landing, rolling at the last safely possible instant.
I have $100 on this pilot being an Aerobatic Pilot. Not just some military pilot... he/she is that too...but ALSO an Aerobatic competitive pilot. Negative push, an F-16 Snap Roll... and max deflect rudder banging... that's an Aerobatic pilot...for sure. Some of you point out...that this is a great display...and some people will notice a lot of the moves are non-standard for what we expect of an F-16 Demo. But those moves are standard for competitive aerobatic pilots. LOL. I have never seen an F-16 snap...but that's is one at 3:20. Kind of a lazy snap... but that what they look like.
It's clear he is one with this machine.
Au top le Belge de Kleine Brogel!!!💪👌
Seems like the russian bots found your video 😂. Nevermind them, they will find out how good the F16 is soon ✌️❤️🇧🇪🇺🇦
AWSOME!🇺🇸
Pretty standard display for an F/A-18. I've never seen an F16 flown so slow and at high angle of attack but there was never an obvious reason why not, other than that all the F16 displays I've seen have been Thunderbirds and they just do formation fly-bys and 10,000 ft barrel rolls. The Blue Angels, and the Aussies, and the Swiss throw around their F18s far more. Maybe the F16 recently got some better flight control software.
Not someone you want a dog fight against LoL
I wish I had seen this person.
This could be an eye opener🤨 but WE think this is an R.C. plane with the sound dubbed in 🤔.......Hollywood at it's best !😁
A small. light, cheap fast. fighter aircraft that can substitute quantity for quality if needed
Mega, ich liebe es 🤙
The Viper is going to be retired while its peaking....
What went wrong?
Aircraft with thrust vectoring came alone and rendered it obsolete.
This Pilot have an Rotation Seat to protect negative G-Force.
