Interesting factoid, since the avionics and engines are new and the upgraded 15's can now do all this high-alpha stuff, when they developed this routine, they spent a lot of time proofing it in sims. It's called aerodynamic braking. I worked on F-106s, which had used aerobraking forever. The1st TAC 15 guys picked up on the 6s doing it, and started doing it as well. At least that was the story going around the squadron.
@@Virginia91genuinely didn’t know that. Cheers
@@capitolabill1921this is common in military lol
I’m pretty sure you witnessed (and thankfully, shared) the best display I’ve ever seen
Beautiful. Excellent camera work, well done.
Thank you very much!
Best display of the F15QA I have seen hands down!!
This pilot was NOT a cowboy! Smooooth as glass on every move. Amazing control.
Phenomenal skillset.
Yes, greta job! How much experience and training does this SINGULAR DUDE have??? 7-10 years???
I’m still amazed that a jet can carry enough fuel to even get off the runway without using it all up in 20sec
🤠
Lol, none of them are cowboys.
That new F-15 is unreal. Great debut. Never thought I'd see f-15's do stuff like that. Nose dive into alpha pass lol. Howling like a Vulcan. Super impressed
That FBW and those GE-129 engines really opened up the envelope for the F-15 by the looks of that display.
Agree. Kudos to the team that figured out the FBW and control surface actuators. Quite an achievement considering the age of the platform. The original's control laws were established over 50years ago! Remarkable.
Seemed a bit sooty
@@CheaperEngineerControl Law work for the YF-15A began in the 1960s. Airframe construction began in 1971. Original wings had bigger wingtips and original H-stabs didn't have the dogtooth.
Original speed brake was smaller and didn't extend out as high.
@@LRRPFco52 Thank you, appreciate these details.
@@Cwomack07 The one computer-controlled feature in the legacy F-15 is the variable inlet angle that schedules based on Mach and AOA. It optimizes intake angle to keep the engines fed their optimum mass airflow to generate the required thrust across a wide range of altitude, speed, and attitude conditions. Unique to the F-15.
Amazing thrust. To be able to take off in such a short distance, gives me goosebumps and I love watching mach loop videos as well!! ❤❤
Thanks a ton! 👌
Superb Video-photography work as always Elwyn👏
We were there today as well....a truly gobsmacking performance. Thanks for posting this. It really is an amazing transformation with this new version.
You Sir, deserve a 👍, for use of the word gobsmacking. It was indeed!
Never occurred to me before how much the Eagle reminds me of a raptor without the stealth.
They did a lot of things from the Raptor demo, probably on purpose.
Considering the Eagle is 30 years older, the Raptor reminds me of a stealth F-15.
@@nick21614 Yeah, pretty much on purpose, to show off what it can do with the upgrades. And maneuvers from other aircraft as well. Source: I know the pilot. Interesting factoid, since the avionics and engines are new and the upgraded 15's can now do all this high-alpha stuff, when they developed this routine, they spent a lot of time proofing it in sims. Like, "in this particular maneuver, if I lose an engine, or a horizontal stabilizer, what happens? Can I figure out a way to recover safely? Can I replicate that recovery consistently?" Since I work in software testing/QA, I thought that was neat.
The Raptor is the successor to the Eagle. It took the Eagle as its baseline inspiration and sought to improve it and add stealth. So it's not surprising that the Raptor seems similar.
...Or thrust vectoring. But I agree
It makes sense they would send an F-15QA to a show... so that it's ready to answer questions for the crowd.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good one.
Well it's a Boeing so you know it doesn't stand for Quality Assurance 😮
@@FaustoTheBoozehoundUnfortunately for Boeing, the NTSB is the QA.
Can't do the sukhoi stall turn😮
@@FaustoTheBoozehound That's funny!
OMG The Power!!! Never seen an Eagle do that!!! That take off roll!!!!!
Right word for this: stunning.
We can only imagine how much more stunning it can be with the F-15EX.
Such a beautiful design.
The QA is the Qatari export version of the EX. Basically the same jet.
That's so impressive.... pilots still amaze me with their skill and situational awareness.
It was a great display (I was there), and great camera work. I think the cloud layer really made the day at RIAT today, providing that three dimensional backdrop through and around which the top fighter solos plied their craft 🙂 And the F-15QA was the best of a very good bunch
This might be the best airshow footage I've ever seen.
My local ANG base just got it's first two F-15EX Eagle IIs. Such a beautiful aircraft.
This demo makes me wish the f15 active was still around.
The flight is marvellous but your filming is top notch as well. You are one of my favourite channels for this type of content, no music, just the closest possible to it could have been to witness this in person. Thank you Sir!
Many thanks 👌
I’ve seen many F-15 performances in my time and never witnessed a demonstration quite like this
very impressive 👏
Amazing camera work as per usual! I was there today as well! My first time at Fairford or any major airshow like this for that matter. The vibration in your chest as the thing rockets past you with burners on was incredible.
As an F-4 technician back in the day and a naval scientist that worked on AV-8B, F18, and F35 the F15 is on of the best looking aircraft ever
Nice touch in the end, amazing display of the plane and the skill of the pilot.
50 years old and it can still outfight just about anything in the air. Simply an amazing machine and genius engineering on the airframe. Literally leapt into the air.
I could watch this all day 😍
Cracking camera work and tracking mate 👌
Thanks 👍
That’s one hell of a pilot in one hell of a airplane, stunning in every sense of the word ….WOW ❤❤❤
Still king of the skies! - Great video Elwyn.
Thanks again! 👌
I would have said Queen of The Skies.
You should see his Raptor Demo video. One of the best I've seen!
@@DreadWing7777 no that's the A380.
King of the skies, Hmm if we discount Russian junk that has to be F22 followed closely by RAF FGR4 Typhoon. YMMD
should get to see the Raptor again later this year
These pilots are so friggin professional, totally fearless and indeed Top Gun. Seeing one of these badass jets going vertical to slow down rapidly nose up is beyond words. One word: REMARKABLE! I love our military and am so very proud of every man and women putting their country first. You have my most grateful thank you for your service! You ARE the best.👍👍🙏🙏🙏❤️💪🫵🏻
Dude, you use the camera amazingly !! Tracking the plane is great !! Such a beautiful recording !!
Thanks a lot! 👌
That was awesome,..coming in floating by so slowly on a slight upward tilt then came back at full power ,…it’s a graceful dance to use the air float like that .
I'm an Aerospace engineer for Boeing in St. Louis MO and currently working on the F15/18 platforms atm. Was apart of the Legacy program and the Super Hornet program and also helped on the Raptor program. The QA is just code and will eventually be something along the lines of the "EX". Big things are coming for the aging airframe as well as new and improved retrofitting for it also.
Love to hear that there is no plan to discontinue such a bird .
Cool 👌
The QA is for Qatar, the EX is the US version. They're not entirely dissimilar but there've been about 48 QAs produced. I was on the USAF purchasing team.
I’m a Sr. Engineering Technician for SCI Technologies, Project F15. Thanks for the video.
You might know my brother. He worked on this program as an avionics tech before he passed.
I'm so glad we started buying the f15ex variant I love f-15 nice to see this aircraft getting modernization
Buy has been reduced already. 😕😕😕
Эти парни отлично знают свое дело !
❤
That full stall fly by would have sounded epic in person !!
It was 👌
Superb aircraft, wonderful routine and excellent camera work. Very enjoyable 7 minutes of my day. Thank-you.
Many thanks!
What an amazing powerhouse! The Eagle still has some tricks up its sleeves by the look of it too. The move at 0:58 looked like a half cobra of sorts. Great video!
Wow! Fantastic control and skill!
The old girl still got it! Love the F-15, such a beautiful aircraft. Edit: Woah that was a stunning shot you got there Elwyn @ 3:56 when it punched through the cloud and sped past! Nice shot!!!
What can I say? My jaw is still on the floor from the RIAT weekend. display Just amazing 😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩
Excellent camera work displaying a reinvigorated KING!
Thank you kindly
Who said the Eagle can’t do the Cobra maneuver and dance on its tail!! Love this video!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks ☺️
It couldn't before the upgrades. But it just goes to show what an awesome airframe it is and that it was well ahead of its time.
The first cobra was done by the swedish Drakken, a 50s or 60s 2nd gen jet fighter. Any semi-competent fighter jet can do a cobra; maybe with the exception of a Mig-31 or so.
There was no cobra in this display, or did I miss something?
@@mattischlese5385
About 1:06. It wasn’t an F-22 cobra but an F-15 cobra.
Riding the wheelie on landing. Chefs kiss.
Great video Elwyn!
Thanks ☺️
Absolutely love F15 planes! Great power and agility!
Couldn't agree more!
Fantastic video! That is an unbelievable display of tech and human interacting!
Couldn't agree more!
What angle of attack would you like?
Yes.
This pilot wears that F-15 like a second skin. I love it!
The remarkable cobra maneuver and tail slide...wow!
Lol what?
There was no cobra here
@@creativeearthian1702 From 2.08 till 2.30 that's almost Cobra maneuver, or at least a tail-slide.
@@creativeearthian1702 you maybe right at around 0:58 there is a maneuver that comes close to a cobra
@dmh54321 almost close. Key words being almost and close
Great work with very steady hands and perfect zoom all the way through this display. I was there and fully appreciated the display, but seeing it again recorded like this makes me realise why everyone stopped to watch this.I was walking the exhibitions at the time and most people were looking up.
Excellent pilot, excellent cameraman. Perfect tracking and focus.
Thanks a lot!
Dang! That thing turning like it has vectored nozzles!
Insane the first f-15 is from 1972 , that's some lasting power right there.
The level of control on display here was incredible.
Excellent footage. Thank you.
Wow the pilot pushes the envelope and beyond, Amazing performance by pilot and cameraman!!
Nicely flown! I've never seen an F-15 do a tail-slide before... 👀👍🔥
This is the coolest jet fighter plane ever made. No other fighter jet is nearly as cool looking.
Very much a matter of opinion, but it certainly is a nice looking aircraft.
The single seater is prettier for my tastes
I'm a diehard Typhoon fan but this display blew me away...
Yeh its sick how enduring the F15 is as an aircraft. Amazing craft.
Outstanding piloting skills and camera work... THANK YOU for this thrilling display!!!
Thank you very much!
That was an amazing performance. Pilot knows his stuff, and what the plane is capable of.
Thanks for sharing.
This is not your Grandpa's F-15.
That's what I was thinking!
Sure goes as slow 🤣👍
Around since 1972, 1976 in service but scarcely used in real combat exception IAF.
F-15 will still be around for another 5 years as experiencing reduced procurement of the " wonder jets" F-35 & F-22 ... 🤔
Not much in common with the F-15s I worked on, other than the name.
@@phmwu7368The F-15Es will be around another 25 years. The F-15EXs are just getting here.

Don't think that the beautiful maneuvers made me overlook how nicely this was recorded. Very good work! I'm subscribing.
Coming up on 4 years building the F-15QA, never saw it do anything like that until I went to the air show!
