Check out the Taurus TS9 that passed a 20,000 round torture test and has been adopted by multiple international police, military, and special forces. Recent limited release in the US. I bought one and highly recommend it. Bubits low tilt barrel for reliable feeding and tallest extractor claw I have ever seen for reliable controlled feeding extraction and ejection. Takes TH9 17rd mags.
Nice video. I've always been a fan of DASA and DAO semiautos. I picked up a TH9c a few years ago that I was not happy with and sold within a week. Since the management change, I've been really impressed with the improved quality of their guns and have the full size TH9 on my list to try.
Absolutely love mine!! EDC is the TH9C and the TH9 goes along for a ride in my truck. Only thing that would make this the perfect arm is being able to rack the slide w/safety on. I carry hammer down safety on, in my mind it’s like having on a double safety. Just picked up the TH45 to carry when I’m pig hunting.
This is a good pistol after a thorough cleaning by a gunsmith including the bitty parts between transfer bar and sear.. Racking open is the lightest! I asked and the factory acknowledged they do not perform a final cleaning. The trigger had a gritty feel before cleaning.
I just purchased the Taurus, TH 45 ACP that has 13 round capacity. I paid $475 for it and this is the first Taurus, I have ever owned and a lot of people were telling me not to purchase Taurus, because it had a lot of problems, and I wanted to experience Taurus, for myself, and they were right. I have only been able to cycle, one complete magazine through it. We have torn apart and oiled it up and we are still having trouble with it. I am dealing with Taurus, right now trying to get a new one because it is only a few weeks old but they are going to try to fix it I think and get back with me. I am also upset because they are wanting me to pay Shipping and that’s going to get costly so I am not having any luck with my Taurus, TH 45 ACP at the moment. Wish me luck thank you.
That is unfortunate. I have the TH9 and the G2C. I love both of mine. I've put hundreds of rounds through both with one malfunction in the G2C. I believe it was from running cheap aluminum case rounds and it only stove piped. Maybe it's the .45 doing it. Maybe it's too powerful. Sorry to hear, but I guarantee if you tried the 9mm, you'd love it. Good to know.
You could be having problems with the magazine, not the actual pistol itself. You can ask Taurus to Send you new magazines and explain the failure to feed/extract issues you’ve had and that should handle that
I have two pt840 one compact one full size. Don't care for compact version because of accuracy but still a good up close very dependable gun. Ive been wanting a pt809 and found a th9 on an auction. If this gun is as reliable and good shooting as my pt840 full size its extremely hard to beat especially for the price. I held and shot some really nice more expensive pistols and havent found many that fit my hands better. As far as reliability. I've shot 12 pails of range ammo through it and never had a jam and two rounds i had to second strike. I carry this gun and have a range on the way to my house and shoot quite often at least a couple times a week and has never given me issues. Only thing that somewhat annoys me is rattle of the clip in the gun. Which in the scheme of things doesn't matter just a pet peeve. If these are supposed to be an upgrade mechanism im anxious to see how. From the video all mechanisms and controls seem exactly the same.
i just got a th9, have not shot it yet, slightjy used, real low round count, paid $250 for it. from what i read and watch on youtube it looks like a decent gun.
Thanks for the review, this is the first of your videos I've seen. I'm currently researching hand guns to purchase my first one for home defense purposes, so I've seen many of these types of videos on UA-cam. I have comments and questions: 1. If you are doing a gun review, why wouldn't you have already read the specs, or at least have them with you to refer to when describing the gun. It was mentioned he didn't know the actual length of the gun, but he stated what he thought the length and height were. 2. It was also mentioned this gun has ambidextrous sights. What does ambidextrous sights mean for a hand gun? 3. When discussing the trigger pull in lbs, the double action was estimated, but nothing was mentioned for the single action. And is a 10 or 11lb trigger pull a little high? Overall, I liked the review and the enthusiasm shown towards this gun. Thank you again.
Besides what I wrote below. It looks like a CZ clone type. I used to have a tanfoglio witness before they sold out to that other company. Reminds me of those a bit. Big, fun for shooting, not really a good size for conceal carry.
Sounds like an excellent gun,I don’t know why some people love to give Taurus so much crap. They have came a long ways, and have made some great affordable guns in recent years.I think them having a bad run scared them, and I feel some people will never let that go,and what I can say about that, sucks for them lol. They are missing out in my opinion, and I’m sure many would agree that own Taurus pistols like this.
You know people. They like feeling good from saying something they read or heard from somewhere to make it seem like they know what they're talking about. The situation may change, but whatever started being said years ago has been said so much, that it's stuck now.
Just got a TH9 full size. I don’t think it comes with cleaner rod and backstraps anymore or I got ripped off. I sent them a message asking. Hopefully I hear back. Other than that, I’m super surprised at the quality. I’ve heard a lot of negativity with sights, mine are great. I only have one negative. The ambidextrous clip release rubs my finger causing it to get sore. I’m going to have to pad my finger. I can’t believe how easy it is to rack it. My G2C is easily 3x more harder to pull back than this is. Trigger on th9 is soooo much better too. I have xl hands and a compact kinda sucks to hold. The TH9 feels great. Minus the one negative, it’s a great gun!
I totally agree with you I'm not a gun snob I own ones in all different price ranges. I believe you should teach with all different qualities of handguns you don't teach with a $1,300 sig for a first time shooter.
Needs the Zombiemax Ammo. Seriously, I like the hammer options which is rare having cock and lock and decocker modes together. Maybe sig did that. I am more of a b retta fan.
since the G2s, Taurus has done a LOT to mop up the previous, legitimate QC issues they had. I had several of their mid to late 90s pistols and no issue,s but the 00s were not kind. To a lot of brands, in fairness. But as a person who prefers DA/SA I find the idea of the TH9c to be a viable option for appendix carry, where I just don't find striker fired pistols to be a great idea. This is on my short list along with the Beretta 80x. But also half the price of the Beretta. Also like the CZ P-07 NATO, but it's a bit chonkier.
I wonder if its just me but bought one a few months ago and noticed the mag shakes not not he bullets. but the magwell it doesnt set right. Is this normal have never held a gun that does that? spring is kinda loose too moves around when seated. Sounds like it from your video
Several years ago I bought the gun that this TH9 replaced, the PT809. At that time Taurus guns were looked down on. This being my first gun I was in no position to get some high priced big name firearm. I liked the way the PT809 felt in my hand, and the site picture I get. Not sure what the differences are between these two guns other than the grips. Other than that they look the same.
Hey there! 👍 I don't know the details but it appears that they made some modifications to the internal mechanism of the "PT" design making them safer and making the TH line more reliable during shooting.
I just picked up a TH9 this week and haven't made it to the range just yet but I was hoping @CitizenCarry or someone else could confirm something for me. I've noticed my loaded round indicator isn't spring-loaded and even when empty, if I lean the gun to the right, the indicator will fall out and give the appearance of a round in the chamber when there's not. I don't know if this is simply a quirk of a cheaper gun, or if my indicator is defective. I suppose a false positive isn't as bad as a false negative, and if that's just how it is, I'm not bothered by it. But I'd just like to know from someone else who owns this gun if this is normal or not. Thanks!
I don't know if I missed it but i didn't see what distance you were shooting at it would give a little more perspective on the accuracy... if you're shooting at 10yds not bad if you're shooting at 10ft not great either way enjoyed the video and I'm also a sar fan so I will check out some of your outher stuff since you mentioned them to see what ya got
What about the decocker , if you have a round in it and you hit the decocker it will fire . I dam near blew my foot off with that crap . What is the point of having that if its gona fire ?

It's sad that you even have to want people that watching a video on guns is harmless. Is it what's in the food these days? Or perhaps the level of flouride in the water? Or the low attention span under 3 minutes long on average these days? 🙄😌😩 Man serious.... I was raised on guns. I was allowed to go out an empty a whole box of ammo without supervision at the age of eight, because I was taught how to be safe with guns. Do guns kill people? Not really... It's the people holding the guns.
I hate to disappoint you but despite it's rough appearance/finish, no, the barrel is in fact made of steel. I'm sitting here holding a TH9. Rest assured, not aluminum at all.

Taurus makes some really accurate shooting guns. My G3 shoots even accurate than the TH9.
That’s good to know! Because I’m getting a G3 next.
Love my G3!!
I doubt it, I have the G3c & TH9c and the TH performs unbelievably well. Even better than my 3rd gen, G19 🔫
Can it still be drawn from the holster 1/2 cocked and fired without any other movements than squeezing the trigger?

Quick question. Is the trigger metal or plastic? And the hammer too is it plastic or metal?
They are BOTH Polymer!
Metal.
@CitizenCarry , the trigger is a polymer coated metal, hammer is metal also.
Is the pt809 the same as the th9?
Basically, I think the TH9 just has newer features or design
How is the recoil?
It’s not bad! It’s a full-size gun and the grip texturing helps things a lot. Plus it’s about 28 ounces so that makes everything easier too.
The recoil on my full size TH9 is very reasonable. I have small stubby hands with my grip I can run a full mag accurately on a 7yd. target.
