Good review, but I must disagree with you on your statement about the value of warranties. Depends on the manufacturer. I've had excellent warranty service from Ruger in particular. They replaced my mk iv at no charge to me because the firing pin broke and peened the chamber wall. I've also had good luck with smith and Wesson and tristar. I wouldn't overlook a gun because of the warranty, but it's nice to know the manufacturer will stand behind their product if it fails to perform
I respect your opinion on warranties. But just as a guy who has handled RMA's and repairs before I just know how the operation works. I'm not saying that any manufacturer is looking to screw people and not honor a warranty when the manufacturer is genuinely at fault for whatever reason - but it comes down to a simple game of numbers - whose gonna pay, and can we charge them to fix it on a technicality. That's just how it is.
Often it seems everyone looks at guns thru the lens of it being a competition gun. This is why this gun cannot compare to others. This is not in that market. This is an inexpensive, reliable, self defense & range gun for shooting fun. The trigger is well designed for this. I suspect some polishing of the trigger components will do wonders for them feel.
I agree 100%. Never mentioned I thought this would be a competition gun, and the trigger on it is fine since it can be left in single action. I'm not a fan of the double action and never will be, but there still something to be said about the heavy double action being an additional layer of safety.
I'm planning on buying my TH9 soon. Big plus for me is the ambidextrous features. I'm teaching my 13 yr old daughter to shoot and we are both lefties. It seems to be a great gun for the price! Good overall review of the pistol. I does look, to me, that when you are measuring the trigger pull weight, you might be pulling from a bit to high on the trigger.
I probably was, having looked at the video - it didn't help that I was having to do all that standing behind a tripod without bumping into it. The bottom line is the single action is a lot cleaner. The nice thing about the DA however, is you really have to mean it to pull the trigger, so I consider that a safety feature of sorts - I don't carry it that way, but it's a good option if one hates thumb safeties.

I agree about warranties. They are not worth the paper they are written on. Take it to a licensed gunsmith if it has a problem you cannot fix. I have heard "One year warranty. I will never buy a Taurus." Then don't buy a Glock either.
The vast majority of people who do not complain about warranties of any kind (guns or otherwise) are also the ones that take care of whatever it is they bought. They aren't doing things like not cleaning the weapon or using ammo with the wrong pressure rating, etc.

$245 at Bud's last week... Put some gun oil on that mag release from both side a couple outings in a row... DUH.... Mags availabe at Cheaper than Dirt... Bought 2 17 rounders this week.... Mags for the TH9 Compact too...!
Great review Sui 778! I'm eyeing on this TH9 as a back gun for competition ( Production division). I will still have to check the mags availability if it can be had + the holster from the same gun store. Is there any 5 inch barrel available for this gun? Thanks again for sharing!
There are no barrel length variations that I know of - pretty much with the full size you're locked into the 4.27 inch length. While I think highly of this pistol I don't think I could recommend it as a competition gun, even if only as a backup - it just doesn't have the precision accuracy competition shooters are looking for. In the self defensive world it is plenty adequate, however. Mag availability is always questionable with Taurus autoloaders regardless of model. The bottom line is - if you see the mags you need for a Taurus pistol - get them right there and then.
my g3 slide is like that as well, you can rack it with just the thumb and index finger. My m&p pistols take a considerable effort in comparison. I guess the slightly heavier slide is a good thing.
There is good and bad in a slide that's easy to rack - obviously good in the sense that it's very easy chamber a round, but on the flipside it wouldn't take a whole lot for an assailant to grab your slide and push it back. But then again if you're in a defensive situation and that happens - well - you waited too long to shoot anyway.
I want to hear what you have to say about the 1. Canik tp9sf elite compact 2. Taurus th9 3. Taurus th9c compact 4. M&P M 2.0 compact 5. Glock 17 Gen 4 6. Taurus g2c 7. Beretta apx 8. Taurus 24/7 G2 40mm I'm looking at these guns to see which one I'm going to buy first but I'm going to buy the Taurus g2c for 300 first
You can find the g2c for way less than $300. $215-245 range easily. I went with a Hp22a($125) as my first. Learn to shoot first, and what feels good in “your” hands. Then choose the gun that fits “your” needs.I would look into the G2s. Just my opinion.
Any advice on how to adjust the sights? Mine are pretty bad off right out of the box. I have human Silhouette paper targets and to hit center mass on the chest I have to aim just over the shoulder on my right. There are not many videos other than basic reviews on this pistol and word really like some advice. Thanks
Not using that kind of grip anymore. Using the old military left thumb over tendon grip instead. Just works best for me - and my thumbs are too short for tacticool on a fullsize.
It is sticky and mushy in it's original state 4 safety/liability reasons, when you pull the slide back the gun is empty,it is not a liability issue, the marbles up stairs,"R" missing!
If you want a warranty that is worth the paper it's printed on then buy a Hi-point. If you want a gun that works every time you pull the trigger then get a TH9, M&P, Sig 226,227,229, Glock, Beretta, Canick, ECT, ECT...... Personally o have never had a issue with my Hi-Point. I have had issue with my 24//7 G2C. There are some ammo that takes 2 or 3 tomes before it will fire. Make a a nice range toy and trap line gun bun not a EDC weapon. Any other pistol or revolver in my collection has proven reliability. Including my C9 Hi Point. Might add this to my collection.
When you pull the slide back to eject a round from the chamber does the round eject out of the side or does it fall down through the grip and fall out the bottom of the grip? Most of the time on mine it just falls through the inside of the grip and falls out the bottom….every once in awhile the round will eject out the side but most times not. I thought my gun was broken when I first got it but it shoots just fine.
Mine doesn't do that - neither my TH9 or TH40 do that for that matter. When I pull the slide back to empty the chamber, both always will spit the round out of the ejection port, which is what is supposed to happen. If I were you I'd contact Taurus about that - something's not right.
@@Sui778 yeah I thought that wasn’t right. The weird thing is….it shoots just fine….the empty cases eject out of the ejection port when it fires….but for some reason if I pull the slide to eject an unfired round about 95% of the time it just falls down through and out of the bottom of the grip handle.
The TH9c was my first and will be my last Taurus I buy. I clean my guns thoroughly after each range visit. My Taurus is prone to failure to eject after about 50 rounds. That is the minor issue. After abot the first hundred rounds on the new gun i was getting fail to fires. When I got home I went to disassemble the gun and had to beat the slide off. The fail to fire was because the slide was not returning to the full forward position. This was caused by a ridge that developed on the forward part of the ejection port causing the slide to rise up on barrel block and jam against the rails. All I've ever used is Winchester standard found nose loads. Very dissapointed.
I don't have an opinion on the 24/7 - I've never shot or held one. As far as the size comparison goes - the 24/7 G2, TH9 and TH9C are all larger pistols than the G2C.
@@cnottagejr Yep TH9C is about 3/5 of an inch longer than the G2C. As far as whether you should buy them or not, I would go look at them and shoot them if you can before you buy if at all possible.

The barrel is a quarter inch longer, the grip has the new stippled texture, no serrations in the front of the slide. Also, no more Taurus security system.
Yes, there is a loaded chamber indicator right above the extractor on the right hand side of the slide. I showed this in the original review of this pistol.

I want to hear what you have to say about the
1. Canik tp9sf elite compact
2. Taurus th9
3. Taurus th9c compact
4. M&P M 2.0 compact
5. Glock 17 Gen 4
6. Taurus g2c
7. Beretta apx
8. Taurus 24/7 G2 40mm
I'm looking at these guns to see which one I'm going to buy first but I'm going to buy the Taurus g2c for 300 first
You can find the g2c for way less than $300. $215-245 range easily. I went with a Hp22a($125) as my first. Learn to shoot first, and what feels good in “your” hands. Then choose the gun that fits “your” needs.I would look into the G2s. Just my opinion.
It's a 40 caliber. 40mm is a cannon used by the military.
Any advice on how to adjust the sights? Mine are pretty bad off right out of the box. I have human Silhouette paper targets and to hit center mass on the chest I have to aim just over the shoulder on my right. There are not many videos other than basic reviews on this pistol and word really like some advice. Thanks
Good review.
Just curious are you still gripping the pistol like in the inset or was that just your tactical grip?
Not using that kind of grip anymore. Using the old military left thumb over tendon grip instead. Just works best for me - and my thumbs are too short for tacticool on a fullsize.
I heard a version of the Berreta 92 mags fit this also by mecgar
It is sticky and mushy in it's original state 4 safety/liability reasons, when you pull the slide back the gun is empty,it is not a liability issue, the marbles up stairs,"R" missing!
da/sa with a decocker two 17 round mags.....buy one now.... next I want a th 40 and the th45 own the g2 g3 g3c allready
my local gun store ordered some more mags for me from their supplier
Review request, how about the compact model (TH9c)? Any chance you will review one of these soon?
Probably not. I'm not a big channel nor am I sponsored by anyone. There are already dozens of reviews out on the TH9C as it is - plenty to look at.
@@Sui778 Okay, thanks. I appreciate the response.
One thing I can't find any information on for this pistol about. When the safety is engaged does it lock the slide from moving?
Yes the safety prevents the slide from moving and I demonstrate this in the first review of this pistol.
@@Sui778 Thank you! I'll have to take a look at your first review then.
Yes...it locks the slide. I love this gun and consider it for the price a great get.
Thanks for your time.
How are you pulling back on the slide - are you doing it lightly or are you pulling it back firmly?
@@Sui778 I’ve done it every different way….
@@jamesmoore4003 Call Taurus.
Mags on taurus website. 26.00 each.
Can someone link it? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Yo we go to the same range. What are the odds
Figured it would happen sooner or later - it's a popular range.
Bro i would like too see you clean it I'm sold on it
He broke it down in another video.
DO Not rely on lifetime warranties, like the man says. Would I buy it again...you bet. Would I buy yours if you dont like It....ABSOLUTELY !!!
I own 6 Taurus pistols, have used the warranty once, no problems, great timely service.
i love the Taurus i want your opinion on the Taurus 24/7 g2
Taurus g2c
Taurus th9
Taurus th9c i want to know is that bigger than the g2c?
I don't have an opinion on the 24/7 - I've never shot or held one. As far as the size comparison goes - the 24/7 G2, TH9 and TH9C are all larger pistols than the G2C.
@@Sui778 wow the th9c is bigger than g2c i didn't know that but should i buy the Taurus th9 and the th9c?
@@cnottagejr Yep TH9C is about 3/5 of an inch longer than the G2C. As far as whether you should buy them or not, I would go look at them and shoot them if you can before you buy if at all possible.
@@Sui778 I love how the Taurus th9 feels in my hand and I wanted to shoot it but they didn't have the gun to rent to shoot. But I'm going back to see if they have it to rent now. The Taurus is a good brand and I want to purchase one
@@chiefbubba2581 Kinda hard to go wrong with it, but make sure you're ok with the way the gun breaks way in the back on the trigger.
What's the difference between PT809 and this one?????
The barrel is a quarter inch longer, the grip has the new stippled texture, no serrations in the front of the slide. Also, no more Taurus security system.
Magazine Warehouse has mags for it.
Isn't there a loaded chamber indicator on that slide?
Yes, there is a loaded chamber indicator right above the extractor on the right hand side of the slide. I showed this in the original review of this pistol.
@@Sui778 Why do you think they dropped the Ambi controls on the Compact version?
@@tkarlmann I don't really know. My guess is they were trying to streamline it more for carry in any way possible.
@@Sui778 Do you think that the TH9 is CC-able? I have an FNH FNX-9 -- which has very equivalent ambi controls, also hammer-fired very similarly-sized , but the FNX-9 weight is 21.9oz -- 6.3oz lighter than TH9. However, the FNX9 costs about 2x the price of the TH9. Thoughts?
@@tkarlmann Considering the dimensions of the FNX, the TH9 would be a larger conceal - it is 0.32 inches longer and a half-inch taller. Not quite as thick though - about 1/4 of an inch thinner. I personally don't carry guns this size - I go for smaller - say PT-111 G2 or smaller.
only company to never give me a issue about warranty was ruger
Ruger's customer service is the best. They back what they sell and turnaround time is very quick
Smith and Wesson has been good to me .
Supposedly The XD9 Mags Feed Well..
DO NOT LOCK OPEN ON LAST SHOT.

I Own A C(Compact)
I Don't Know If Xd Mags Work On Full Sized Model
How was accuracy?
Accuracy is fine. I wouldn't call it a competition pistol but for everyday use it's plenty accurate.
buds got em for $284 right now
Cheaper than dirt has for 281
That is a very nice handgun
I like it a lot. Runs like a top.
Sui778
I think that Taurus looks amazing. It reminds me of my Ruger Security 9mm a little bit. I think that Taurus looks better than my Ruger actually..
This or SD9VE???!!! Which one ??!!!
Me personally, I'd take the TH9... more controls, better grip, and a bit heavier. I personally didn't like the way the SD9VE felt in my hand as much either. Not to say it's a bad gun, I just like the TH better overall.
TH9...i love hammer fired
I have both and they are both great pistols, But I prefer guns with a hammer, or single double action guns
What about accuracy?
It's not a competition pistol by any means but the accuracy is reasonable.
Accuracy is heavily based on the shooter...
he is right snart man
No magazines available… 3 years later!!!!! No response on the matter from Taurus
Anybody able to find a holster for their TH?
Holster for the 809 fits great. Got one from Amazon.
my slide will not go back on ☹☹☹
Is the hammer cocked? If it isn't, cock it all the way to the rear and then try putting your slide back on.
You don't need More than 2 magazines, that would kill a gang of Thurs, and 2 , 400 lb, BEARS !
All you would do to a 400 pound bear with a 9mm is piss it off.
Sig 20 round mag 🤠
Excelente PT
Had girding pin replaced. Less than 1000 rounds. 69$$.🥴
Whats the girding pin?
Firing pin I guess 😅

Amigo... Th9c or g2c??????
Both are good. G2C is a little smaller for carry, and a little lighter.
G2c trigger is fantastic in my opinion, go handle one, EVEN da is light to me, BUT I just did a few engine swaps over the past few months so.... no soft hands here
