This gun is the best da/as gun on the market in its price class. It has all of the features as my $1200 sig 229 legion but a quarter of the price. And it has a manual safety allowing you to carry it cocked and locked which my Sig doesn’t have. Great gun. I’ve had mine for a few months and Zero malfunctions. Highly recommended.
I like my th9c. I have 3 caniks and really wanted a hammer fired 9mm and my wife bought this for me and I have no complaint I got a decent iwb kydex holster and it carry’s pretty nicely
I recently bought the th9 because I really wanted a da/sa 9mm and I have to say after 500 rounds fired I’ve had no problems with it at all and it broke in very nicely. You’re right about the trigger though it does take some getting used to but once you get the reset down you don’t even notice it anymore! Do not regret it at all!
After just over 600 round through my Taurus th9c I found it easy to shoot and after getting used to the trigger no issues. For me the fact this is a gun I purchased new for under $300. If I had paid $1200 I might be a little more critical but for me it’s a great $300 gun. Thanks Taurus.
That's a point missed by so many. Trigger issues are all overcome with practice. When S&W comes out with a Shield Plus with a hammer and de-cocker(they won't), it will be several hundred dollars more. Wasted cash.
I'm starting to see a lot of videos where Taurus is being compared to Glock. I'm not saying that they're in the same level, but Taurus is closing the gap.
I picked up a very slightly used TH9C, in the box with all accessories, last year for $200 at my LGS. My opinion is that even at the price you pay for a new one, it's a decent gun. Yes, the trigger isn't great, and neither are the sights. The trigger I got used to. As others have said, if I need this gun for self defense, I'm not worried about the trigger pull or reset. My issue with the sights was more that the white dots were small and not as bright as other guns I own. But that was easily solved with a toothpick and a small bottle of florescent orange and florescent yellow rust-oleum craft paint. I covered each white dot (after cleaning them with alcohol on a q-tip) with orange on the rear sight and yellow in the front. A huge improvement. Another positive for me was the easy to rack slide. I have arthritis and I have no problems racking it. For the money, I don't think you can go wrong with the TH9C.
I own several Taurus handguns and I am very happy with all of them. I've been carrying the TH9c for several months now as my every day carry weapon. I'm extremely happy with it. As far as I'm concerned Taurus is building what I classify as "Affordable Quality" weapons. You can't beat the quaility that you get for the price you pay. By the way, I also have a PT-92 that I paid $425 for brand new right out of the box that I will put up against any gun on the market today. Those who know what a PT-92 is will know exactly what I mean.
I purchased this gun by chance a long time ago. I always thought it was packed with features and it remains one of my favorite guns. Taurus put quite a bit of thought into it.
As a middle aged guy this is the first handgun I have purchased. I love it. In 6 months I have shot near 1000 rounds through it and not a single failure, nothing. It just shoots all the time every time. And that is with Walmart ammo. Very accurate and for the price with 2 mags and a case, come on. I would purchase it again in a heartbeat. I clean it after every range day and put it away till next time.
The trigger improves greatly with a good cleaning and repetitive cycling. I blocked off the hammer from hitting the firing pin with a cotton ball and pulled the double action trigger 1000-2000 times. ......oiling the parts every 500 pulls. Now, it's nice and smooth!
OMG You youngsters. LEARN THE TIGGER. Dam. I have the TH9 and I love it. It is old school. makes me feel good. But hell I am just an old 63 year old MARINE.

Before you are overly critical of gun owners that distrust Taurus you’re going to have to go back in time and put yourself in the place of people that purchased their products and got turds. That wasn’t bad enough so Taurus gave them the world’s worst customer service to compliment the crappy product. People aren’t just going to forgive and forget after an experience like that regardless of whether the company has turned over a new leaf or not. These days, you get one shot at impressing a consumer because there are so many other choices that they can make. Obviously Taurus will be fine because they are selling a very inexpensive product and they may very well have improved QC. I just don’t care. My experience with them was bad enough that I don’t have any interest in trying them again.
I bought a TH9C a couple weeks ago on sale for a very good price; I finally got a chance to shoot it. Not only is it accurate, but it is very reliable. I fired over 100 rounds and had no malfunctions at all. I shot a mix of FMJ's, hollow point +P, as well as cast round nose hand loads and all ran flawlessly. Being left handed, I only with it had an ambi. safety.
@OhioMike: The FN FNX-9 is a high capacity hammer fired pistol which is completely ambidextrous! The safety lever is also a decocker. Greetings from Switzerland.

@@realamputeephil9471 I recently went to my local store and had to check the new TH series out and they are truly a nice addition to anyone's collection. The only reason why I mentioned the warranty is the fact that it covers the firearm and the magazine's which can become faulty over time (I had to send one in for repair). I have the 809, 809c, and the 840 and since the 840c has been long discontinued I have followed this launch in hopes to buy the TH40c. I hope that no one would ever have to use their warranty but the piece of mind knowing that my firearms are covered for life is worth more than the gun itself.
@@edbattle4919 I misspoke on my earlier comment. I meant to say the TH9c is a G2c with a de-cock lever. I wasn't even thinking about the full size gun. It does seem bizarre that the TH9 series only has a year warranty. When I made my first G2c purchase in February, it was only a 1 year warranty. Right after I purchased the second one, they changed the warranty to lifetime. Hopefully neither of us will ever need the warranty, or the need to use the gun for self defense.
The TH9 line in Brazil comes with Novak night sights, same design as the 3 dot sold in the US, but with Tritium. My TH9 single action trigger is aroun 4 pounds. Make sure you lub all trigger parts that move, I use WD40 for cleaning and Militec for lub. The 2 clicks for reset is normal unfortunately, but that doesnt make it a bad trigger.
I have the full-size version of this pistol and I absolutely love it. It’s my go to home gun. I haven’t had a single hiccup using any ammo, and it’s got several hundred rounds through it to date.
@@garageguy879 I have both of these guns, and the TH9C is a little large to carry in my Jeans pocket, so The CSX works a little better for that. S&W really missed the boat by not making the CSX both SA and DA in my opinion, but it's a great little gun to carry just the same and shoots great too. My TH9C was purchased first, and I really do like the way it handles and shoots, but I gotta tell you it is really fussy about reloads with certain bullet types and seating depth. I don't seem to have this problem with any other of my 9mm guns, but that's an issue that I know about and It doesn't worry me too much now that I'm aware of it. Taurus does do a good job with the TH9C and I'm glad I own one...👍👍
Thanks for the review. I've had striker spring failures in both Springfield and Glock. So I'm at the point where I don't trust striker fired guns and the picking is rather slim for DA/SA
Recently went to DA/SA with a CZ 75 PCR, and very satisfied with it . So nice to see another option , especially in the sub- compact size. Was glad to hear that the safety doubles as a de-cocker. I think this would be a good option for warmer weather CCW. Maybe my next gun. Nice price.
KSGunguy..... Please do not change your professionalism in reviewing guns. As a PROUD owner of a Taurus G2c and a Canik TP9SF Elite s, I get tired of hearing negative comments about them. I don't mind hearing someones cons, on the weapon in itself. It is the negative ones based on politics. There is one channel who I won't mention the name of that is just a "jerk" in their presentations. So thank you for being informative, and polite.
A lot of people switch out to genuine Novak sights I think it's excellent that they added those to this budget pistol with the grip the sights and the ammo capacity it's hard to beat this budget pistol and with the trigger ride that short reset for better accurate shots
I've owned 3 pt111 g2c and g2s and the only ammo I've had an issue with is the RIP rounds. I literally had to rack the entire 40 round box through my weapons just to get them at the point of clambering smoothly. Not an ideal ammo for these guns. No issues with any others though. Besides that I love these guns and will probably invest in the th 9c as my next side arm
@@KSGunGuy01 For a $350 hammer fired compact pistol it seems like its not that bad. You shot really good groups with it. Hammer fired pistols will cost a little more than strikers. I have the G2c also. Great pistol but I do like hammer fired pistols better more for safety than anything else. The long DA first shot pull and I can see what the hammer is doing at all times. I have no visual indicator of what a striker is doing like on a bolt rifle so I carry without one in the chamber and rack the slide on the way up from draw when I am ready to shoot. I can recall back when there were no strikers at all until Glock showed up in about 1981. It was that plastic gun that tried to get passed airport security. Haha. I agree though about the TH9c. The trigger could be better and the short rails could be longer but its a $350 hammer. I opted for a Bersa TPR9c for my carry. Way better than the Taurus pistols in every way. Full rails and the outstanding trigger make it a soft/flat shooting pistol. The G2c is just my back up. Both are accurate and reliable. I am looking for a summer pistol with minimal print so a pocket size pistol more than a .380 and high capacity. That pretty much leaves only one option on the market right now. A Sig P365. The TH9C is a sweet compact gun, but I went with the full size TH9, I did get to shoot both. I personally enjoyed the full size more, it felt easier to shoot, the longer barrel and two 17 round mags and full ambidextrous options seemed like a better deal to me. Also I agree the trigger seems a little heavy for single action, but for the money and everything else about the gun I think it's a great buy. Great video I enjoyed hearing you views.
I currently own 9 Taurus guns, have owned a few more, and shot plenty of them as well. I've only ever encountered a problem with a first gen early model PT111 and PT145 handgun respectively. Both of which were not mine, which may have something to do with it, but out of the 13 Taurus guns I've owned in total, the 9 I currently own and keep, and the the at least 20+ I've shot, I cant say much bad about them. I've heard people say stuff like their guns are utter crap, and sure I've seen videos of some major malfunctions but I've also seen videos of Glock's blowing up but let's face it... that's not the norm. And for me, Taurus guns malfunctioning on the regular is not my experience. As I said, a PT111 and PT145 first gen models, early production had some issues. Friend of mine traded a cheap 1911 for the PT145, and while firing the mag would auto eject itself under stress of recoil after maybe 3 rounds. Made sure we werent accidentally pressing the release ourselves and etc. Now the PT111 had failures to feed, eject, and extract sometimes and did so frequently enough that it wasnt reliable. Now, during this time... Taurus was stepping up their semi auto game, but I was sticking to their revolvers and it wasnt until maybe 2011 that I gave the semi autos a second look. I bought a PT140 G2, and it's still kicking and running well whenever I take it out. I also bought a PT25 that also runs quite well unless I buy real bad ammo for it and that seems to be an issue with all .25 ACP guns I own and have shot though. And I was convinced they were finally where they needed to be. Since then I've gotten an old PT132 Pro, and have shot original PT809 and PT840 handguns that I found to be very reliable, much like their 1911's and PT92's. Every Taurus I own has had at least 2,500 rounds or more through them with exception to 2 and that's that PT25 and an old Taurus revolver I got from the 80's that I just dont shoot that often. Now, I've had ammo related malfunctions be it bad primers, improperly seated bullets, and cases expanding too much and getting stuck in the chamber. All of those issues I've experienced with other firearms at some point, often with the same ammo too to a point that I know it's not a "This gun is crap" thing. That being said, my main gripe with the TH9C is that it's filling the same role as the G2C, and the G2C is cheaper, but also a tad bit smaller. Now I suppose if you have a TH9 and like it and want more compact that's a great way to go for familiarity reasons. Or if you have an old PT809 gun and mags laying around. But otherwise, I dont see much point in making it the first choice of a compact gun from Taurus. Another point to the TH9C is it's DA/SA, the G2C isnt, but does have second strike capability as well. So I suppose it's a to each their own.... I honestly think it's a good gun and Taurus is a reliable company. They're making real headway in both the semi auto market and some of their new revolvers look great. That being said, the budget world has plenty of competition but right now Taurus is killing it hard.

But generally the consensus is that Taurus revolvers from the 70's and 80's were "crap" if only because they had real heavy triggers and etc and their early semi autos were utter trash minus the PT1911 and and PT92's. Taurus revolvers now are scoffed at by S&W and Ruger fanboys, but plenty of videos showing them run side by side and they are evenly matched in more ways than one. As for semi autos, I think people are oversold on brand name alone. It's like H&K... they're nice guns but not for the price tag they ask for at times. Same goes with a lot of pistols out there... Most the time when I hear about Taurus guns failing it's either the older models, which I'll admit had problems. Even Taurus admitted they had problems, recalled them, gave us Gen 2 guns and have actively been working to improve them since. But I also know that due to their price points on guns, Taurus sells a lot more than some of their competition too and as a result, more guns made means a higher chance to see lemons. It reminds me of Kimber 1911's. Kimber sells more 1911's than any other major 1911 manufacturing company, so it's no surprise you see more lemons in the batch or hear a lot of complaints about how bad Kimbers are. My experience with Kimber has truly been a hit or miss... seen real nice Kimber's and real bad ones, but often than not I see good clean examples that work. Like I said, it's a to each their own situation. Time has shown me Taurus is a company that is reliable. If that changes you can best believe I will be first in line to speak about how horrid they've become or whichever. But right now... they make some of the best revolvers on the market and at a great price, they are killing the budget semi auto category right now, and they're continuing to improve on their products as a whole. I dont believe Taurus is perfect or anything... too many tales of Taurus guns breaking down and etc to say they're all false but I do believe a fair number is just internet bias and brand elitism and not actual issues. My opinion isnt that Taurus is the end all be all, it's just that they are worth the time if you've ever considered them.

Taurus got rid of the lifetime warranty for a reason...gee I wonder what that reason could be? Are you stupid enough to think it was because they were not getting guns sent back for repair in mass? The warranty costs were killing profits...simple as that. Ruger doesn't have an unconditional lifetime warranty, but I have yet to see anyone charged for a repair on a gun that was sent back, and Ruger prices are about the same as Taurus. D. What moron would pay $250/$299 for a Taurus when for $299 you can get a used police trade Glock that will still go another 100,000 rounds, which is about 99,800 more than you will get of that crap Taurus new. Even the S&W shield sells for $249 at PSA. E. There are people who know the price of everything and the value of NOTHING. You can spot them with their Taurus, KelTec, imported 1911 copies, and other off brand guns. They actually cost MORE to own than a top line name brand that can be purchased used from police departments. I am talking SIG, Glock, H&K for $275-$450. F. A SUCKER born every minute....easy to spot by the gun they carry. Carry a Taurus and you are flagged. Simple as that!
The plus here is Taurus will hopefully get even better with time. It seems like they are headed in the right direction. If they can only keep the price down their market share will increase.
That's an excellent firearm Jerry, Romans 6two3 might also like the H&K P2000SK. I almost bought one but bought the CZ P07 which is not subcompact but I'm 5'7" and it hides very well in my IWB holster. But holding 18 in the mag (with the 16 round magazine and a +2 baseplate along with 1 in the tube), it is heavy, so I remedied the problem with NOVX 65 gr Extreme self defense rounds, makes the magazine very very light for all day carry. Carrying 1 magazine in the pistol and 2 extras in my pockets gives me almost a whole box of ammo capacity. I agree, that Taurus used to make guns that weren't reliable, does that mean that they will never be reliable ? That's a blanket statement that could start many arguments. That's kind of like buying a Rolex that has a problem, so automatically all Rolex's are junk. So just for shirts and gurgles I just bought the Taurus TH9 compact and have spent 2 months looking for spare magazines. Have yet to be to the range to see how many rounds I can put through it. I know that Taurus warranty is down to 1 year. But it sure seems like Taurus is selling so many, they can't keep up with demand.
I bought the TH9 Compact, it came with a 12 round and a 17 round magazine. I can find the 17 round but so far all I've been able to find is a 10 round magazine. Where can I get a 12 round Mec gar magazine ? I contacted Mec Gar, they are under contract with Taurus and can't sell to the public.
I had a chance to buy an 809c once and passed. This seems like an enhanced 809c to me. I like DA/SA and I like the look of this gun. I especially like the functionality of the stippling. Yet, one thing I remember about the 809c was the fantastic reset -- short, tactile, audible with no hitch.
Great review!!! Taurus has come a long way. I do have to admit that I still cringe a little bit when using a decocker. I know the gun won't go off but it's just the thought of the hammer slamming home with a live round in the chamber😕.
@@jaybiggs7021 they completely revamped the company brought in new management and invested a shitload in training for their employees and reached out to actual professionals and sellers asking what people wanted and it all started because of the lawsuit with one of their older guns and that is why we now have the g2 series and now the remade TH series and now a g3!!! All because of a firing pin block failure and a woman got shot by her own gun and they figured out they have to step it up if they were going to survive and they've worked hard to get where they are now!!!
I don’t know why Taurus gets such a nose up attitude from shooters. In my long career since the USMC I have owned and shot Colts, S&W , H&K, Sigs, Brownings Etc. The Taurus handguns I own work, are accurate, and are budget friendly (cheap)! I just picked up a TH9 and at the range it didn’t disappoint. The grip is a little more aggressive than I’m used to, but that is the sign of the times. Sights were right on out of the box. No failures! Even my Colt gold cup can’t say that.
They used to have terrible customer service and sometimes questionable quality. They have improved greatly over recent years and their quality, I think, is very good. I’ve enjoyed mine. (Check out the PT-92, it’s made in a former Beretta plant that made the Beretta 92.). I’m shopping for a 1911 between the Taurus 1911 and Rock Island 1911...
I've shot my friend's Taurus PT809c a couple of times, the 809c is practically the same pistol as the TH9c (just the older version with different grip texturing). I can relate with struggling to get a comfortable grip on the pistol, for me it felt like I can't get a high enough purchase on the grip and getting it up there feels awkward. I myself also have a complaint with the double action mode of the trigger and I could only conclude that it is due to the fact that the trigger is made out of polymer and the flex on double action makes it what it is. Other than that the Taurus isn't such a budget pistol in the country I live in as they pretty much cost as much as a CZ P07, in the USA this is definitely a good choice for those who have a limited budget that desires a reliable modern day pistol . Great review as usual and really appreciate your practical approach to FA's with relevant data you bring to the table.
My carry gun is a Millenium G2. I have not had any problems with it, after about 2 years. I like it, and almost replaced it with the TH9C, just to go back to the traditional double action. But I decided that since the G2 shot so well, I would just stay with it, and I bought a Ruger Mark IV 22/45. I got it last week, and have not gotten to the range yet, but I plan on trying to get there this weekend. Taurus has had their problems of course, but so has many other gun companies like Kimber, Smith and Wesson, and Colt, Remington, and well pretty much everyone. They are doing much better, as evidenced by the fact that they are staying in business. By the way, I simply hate the street price on guns as opposed to the prices of MSRP. The Ruger I just bought had a MSRP of 409$. I got it for 278$ delivered to my FFL. That was including the shipping. I had to pay my FFL dealer 20$ for the paperwork, I would have had to give him ten bucks more if I did not have a CCW, as he would have had to run a check on me. The actual selling price of the gun from the internet dealer was 269$ plus a touch for shipping. I actually apologized to my local FFL dealer for not buying from him, but told him that I just could not afford to pay the price that he would have to charge for this gun. He told me that he could not even buy the gun for what I got it for from his supplier. I have a son who has a CZ 2075 Rami, which I fell in love with. And perhaps one day, I will buy one of them as a carry gun, because you can really tell the difference in quality between that and the Taurus. The same thing with the SigSauer guns. They are just a well built gun. But for now, the Taurus is suited for the needs that I have, and have not given me any reason to consider replacing it.

Im always curios about new products from Taurus. 6 years ago, when I first started buying firearms I considered TAURUS products, Value guns, however, over time I changed my mind and got rid of all my taurus firearms. In my opinion , I now consider Ruger value guns, where reliability, quality and cost are much better that other low cost guns. However, If you can save a little bit more money, buy Smith & Wesson products.
I have this Taurus th9c and I also have the full size th9. They’re quality pistols I saved a lot of money. The th9c is my edc with my carry permit. Nice review.
Just recieved my Taurus G2S, Living in Upstate N.Y 10 rounds is max for mags. I'll say for a 7 +1 cancealed Carry Taurus did a great job. I'll do a review soon. As far a this clunker, doesn't interest me at all. I hate crappy triggers. The rest I could live with but not a poor trigger. Another excellent review as usual... I find it interesting that Taurus is renaming several of their firearms like this one... First we had the PT111g2 which they turned into the G2c... Then they took the PT709 slim and turned it into the G2s... Now this one used to be the PT809c and also this one's larger brother the TH9 used to be a PT809... The only thing I see they did with these TH models is gave them the same grip texture as the PT111 and g2c where these used to be much smoother so this is a Improvement... I currently own a PT111 G2 and the PT809 and PT845 which have all been excellent firearms over the years... I used to own a PT809c but sold it for some reason I can't remember so I am considering buying one of these as I really do prefer the double action hammer fired mechanism over striker-fired...

propdoctor21564 - it may have to do with their warranty policy change. New guns no longer have “lifetime warranty “, it’s now 1 year. Your opinion might be different, but to me it says they are not very confident in their products.

Taurus seems to be turning out better firearms since they moved to the states. I had a Millennium G2 that I bought used and it was superbly accurate. I am going to be buying 3 G2C pistols soon and am now, taking a good look at this one. Take care!
The Taurus spokesperson at the Shot Show says that besides releasing new guns they are going through all of their current guns and tightning up the specs. The 1911 has already gone through this process and was released last month. There is no doubt in my mind that Taurus is on the move. Prior to this year I never paid them much attention but today I am very interested in what they are doing. The G2C was the turning point for me. I didn't look at it untiil after buying a Smth & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm. Once I fooled with the G2C I sold the S&W. I replaced it with the Walther CCP M2 but the G2C is deffintely going to get purchased this year. When the Taurus TX22 hits the street that gun, maybe more than anything else they've done recently, should give a good expample of where the modern Taurus gun company is at and where they are going.

I bought one a couple months ago and never had a feed issue or a issue hitting my target its a great gun (also my first gun ive ever owned) but ive shot plenty of guns and had a lot of experience
I've got a regular G2 that I bought a few years ago. So far I had no issues with it. My only complaint is that first pull on the trigger is a bit long, but the reset and second fire is extremely crisp for a very budget gun. I think I paid $270 for mine. Too bad the trigger is not great on this one and is heavy.
I own three Glocks 17, 19, and 21, my 17 is a first gen I bought back in 1987, still carry it often. I bought a pt111 G2 18 months ago and it has become my back up carry as I rarely carry just one. I have fired over 1,000 rounds and the only malfunction was a failure to feed using a pro-mag extended magazine with Hornady critical defense rounds. I plan on having the ramp modified to allow for the more conical shape critical defense rounds to feed better, other than that, I have no reason to not be confident in this firearm as my backup, or even my primary carry pistol on hot summer shorts days in my pocket holster. The pt111 G2 is very accurate and consistent, I love the feel and have grown to love the trigger pull and the action. I may have only spent $199.00 plus tax, but it looks, shoots, and feels like a much more expensive fanboy gun. People will always have opinions, but it is my trust and confidence that I listen to, and so far I love my Taurus so much that I have decided to buy my first .40 cal pistol and I just spent $289.99 plus tax on a TH40 based on my experience with my pt111 and shooting my sons PT809 which I really like as well. The G2S is a accurate gun. First 100 I didn't have any jams or misfire. I hit the target where I wanted. I shot brass fmj and p+ jhp without issue. She ate what I put in and frankly I'm more accurate with this gun than my glock 22. It's very concealable and you can +1 the mag maybe +2 also very light. The one thing I will say as a negative they way over lube the internals affecting the trigger. The trigger feels awkward but smooths out. I found this from a glob of lube as a cause. Also has good saftey features for something always in your pocket. It handles recoil very well for its size compared to others of its size to. I noticed that immediately. Best buy I think its value is definitely beyond what they charge.
I’ve owned about 7 Taurus guns since the early 90s and I have never had a problem with any of them! I now own the G2C, M66, and M85! I love my Taurus guns. You can’t beat them for their price point.

I like my Th9c. Sorta funny, but the grip is what I like most. I have a Bersa thunder UC pro. Very similar in size. Fantastic trigger on that gun. But The Th9c has balance or something that is just perfect for my hand. Nice video BTW 👍
I like Taurus and have been happy with mine but if you get a bad one you're screwed. Getting replacement parts or sending it in can be a real pain. Don't be surprised if it takes over 6 months to get it fixed

CK check into a G2c. I own one and can verify that mine has been 100% tried and true. 0 failures. 0 issues. And I even ran the dreaded Winchester white box through it for 200 rounds of the 900-something that are in it at this point. I've been trying my honest day's work to break it. I've used steel case ammo, +p loads, reloads, jhp defense rounds of all sorts, and it Just Runs like a sewing machine. Also I purposely didnt clean it after the initial unboxing cleanup, for about 500-550 rounds. Still nothing. Cleaned it up and it made no difference. Trigger was a little more smoothed out but that could be from the rounds I put through it. I've been scared of Taurus since the old PT145 (I believe was the model) in .45acp that I bought from a friend. Catastrophic failures and cracking in the frame/components. I said never again. But I took a gamble on the G2c to step outside of my glock box I've been living in. And I have to admit, hands down the G2c is absolutely rock solid from what I can tell. It's now my EDC, as it's so comfortable to carry and I have better point of aim results and double tap results over my old g19. Best $212 I've ever spent on a firearm.
@@robl884 yup i have the old model in the pt140 and i took right from the box to the range and ran 300 rounds through it. got it back in 2010 never knew you were supposed to clean them first. i just checked it out really well and loaded it up never an issue from it. still havent cleaned it as of yet with about 550 through it so i must got a good 1, its just been living in its box tho as i got a px4 storm and did it the same way no cleaning of it and got around 800 rounds in it but that was on the paper in the box with it say get it really dirty before first clean so i am but think its about time to clean it up may go for 1000 first just to see if it can lol glad your happy with the new one you got
Thank you for mentioning its ambi features, so many reviewers do not, yet 10 to 12 % of the population is left-handed. A question for Taurus though -Why didn't they make the safety ambi when it's the one that really matters? It's ambi on the full-sized TH9.
The trigger is heavy for safety even in single action, that hand gun is designed for defense and offence shooting NOT for competition. In short it is NOT competition gun to have light and short trigger.
Good job on the video. I do appreciate it. I would have loved to seen it side-by-side with the G2c. I have had a G2c as my carry for a little over a year now. I have over 1,500 rounds through it, and never once had any failures or issues with it. But I have also been intrigued by the CZ p 01. This Taurus caught my eye because of its similarities.
Thing about a carry gun, sights don’t matter much in an emergency situation, DA is BY FAR safer!! Having accidentally shot myself, I’d say I’m experienced in that regard!! Long trigger don’t matter, hard trigger don’t matter, it’s a carry gun to SAVE YOUR ASS!! If you want nice triggers and sights buy that in your range toys!! Safety and reliability is #1 concerns for carry!! Not meaning to pick on this particular youtuber and he does overall do a great review BUT folks need to quit worrying about the “perfect” carry gun as much as they do the SAFEST carry gun that’s reliable!! I now carry DA only and my “toys” have the nice triggers and best of everything else!!

I purchased the Th9c a few weeks ago. I have 500 rounds through the firearm. Barrel scratches are many and.i was surprised to see that much wear already. I like the initial trigger pull, but the second pull is too much. Other than that, this is a great firearm and I will be carry the Th9c frequently.
Really wish I could get my hands on a bunch of the shoot n see silhouette targets. Those are so good for indoor range shooting. I like you think Taurus needs a little credit for putting out some good reasonably priced handguns lately. It’s hard to overcome a reputation for some questionable guns and really poor CS. I picked one up at a gun show for 200 bucks because the vendor claimed nobody wanted to buy it from them. So far its been amazing. Really high quality for the price.
I have seen many good reviews of this pistol. I do wish they still made the Beretta clone in 40 cal though. But overall they have a good lineup of products.

My wife and I both have the PT111, and I also have the PT99. My PT111 has had 500+ rounds put through it, and my PT99 at 1,000+. All 3 operate flawlessly, and haven't had a single issue. Looks like I may have found my next budget buy.

I have a PT 809 4.25 inch barrel and love it it fits perfect into my big hands and I trust it with my life it has never failed me. The THC is a sloppy gun but it sends the rounds down path just fine while saving your wallet$$. @7.19 you mention wear; it's basically fudging up the mirror finish and putting striations on the metal. All cosmetic only. I never cared for keeping my gun LNIB condition. I like it if it has battle scars! Again, thanks for posting this video, great review!
Looks pretty good for right handers only. I carry the Bersa TPR9c which is fully ambidextrous. DA/SA, 3.25" barrel, 13+1, ambidextrous thumb safety/decocker and slide release. Awesome trigger, both DA and SA. The Bersa list price is ~$450 but if you shop you can even beat $350 + ffl fees. Instead of being an "entry level" gun, the Bersa TPRs are duty quality guns. They have a compact and a full size and a competition version. The TPRs are used by the Argentinian Army and their federal police. Bersas have won multiple IDPA world championships (Both the BP9C and the TPR9 families), definitely not "entry level".
Having had a G17 come unglued on me with full slide failure it has soured me on Glock and striker fire plastic guns. I even got rid of my XD’s. I to am a fan on DA/SA hammer autos. I hope to get some trigger time with the Taurus as I have been impressed with their wheel guns. May just have to check this one out?
The reason the magazine catches are sticky on the Taurus is because the release is cammed away like a wedge instead of a tooth just dropping out of the notch in the magazine which is normal on most pistols.

Yeah I've only owned Their revolvers and a 1911. Never a problem with them but I know several folks that have had problems with their Semi-autos. Older models than he's talking about.
The Grip reminds me of the Glock Hump on the Backstrap section, the beavertail looks like a Sig P320 , the upper part of the Frame are the Slide lock and safety and tabs to remove the Slide reminds me of the Beretta PX-4 Storm . And the Barrel reminds me of a SCCY . Kinda of a mix of all Four . The Slide Em , Maybe an XD . And the Trigger Guard looks Exactly like a Beretta . This gun is the best da/as gun on the market in its price class. It has all of the features as my $1200 sig 229 legion but a quarter of the price. And it has a manual safety allowing you to carry it cocked and locked which my Sig doesn’t have. Great gun. I’ve had mine for a few months and Zero malfunctions. Highly recommended.

I like my th9c. I have 3 caniks and really wanted a hammer fired 9mm and my wife bought this for me and I have no complaint I got a decent iwb kydex holster and it carry’s pretty nicely

I recently bought the th9 because I really wanted a da/sa 9mm and I have to say after 500 rounds fired I’ve had no problems with it at all and it broke in very nicely. You’re right about the trigger though it does take some getting used to but once you get the reset down you don’t even notice it anymore! Do not regret it at all!
After just over 600 round through my Taurus th9c I found it easy to shoot and after getting used to the trigger no issues. For me the fact this is a gun I purchased new for under $300. If I had paid $1200 I might be a little more critical but for me it’s a great $300 gun. Thanks Taurus.
That's a point missed by so many. Trigger issues are all overcome with practice. When S&W comes out with a Shield Plus with a hammer and de-cocker(they won't), it will be several hundred dollars more. Wasted cash.
I'm starting to see a lot of videos where Taurus is being compared to Glock. I'm not saying that they're in the same level, but Taurus is closing the gap.

I picked up a very slightly used TH9C, in the box with all accessories, last year for $200 at my LGS. My opinion is that even at the price you pay for a new one, it's a decent gun. Yes, the trigger isn't great, and neither are the sights. The trigger I got used to. As others have said, if I need this gun for self defense, I'm not worried about the trigger pull or reset. My issue with the sights was more that the white dots were small and not as bright as other guns I own. But that was easily solved with a toothpick and a small bottle of florescent orange and florescent yellow rust-oleum craft paint. I covered each white dot (after cleaning them with alcohol on a q-tip) with orange on the rear sight and yellow in the front. A huge improvement. Another positive for me was the easy to rack slide. I have arthritis and I have no problems racking it. For the money, I don't think you can go wrong with the TH9C.
I own several Taurus handguns and I am very happy with all of them. I've been carrying the TH9c for several months now as my every day carry weapon. I'm extremely happy with it. As far as I'm concerned Taurus is building what I classify as "Affordable Quality" weapons. You can't beat the quaility that you get for the price you pay. By the way, I also have a PT-92 that I paid $425 for brand new right out of the box that I will put up against any gun on the market today. Those who know what a PT-92 is will know exactly what I mean.

I purchased this gun by chance a long time ago. I always thought it was packed with features and it remains one of my favorite guns. Taurus put quite a bit of thought into it.
As a middle aged guy this is the first handgun I have purchased. I love it. In 6 months I have shot near 1000 rounds through it and not a single failure, nothing. It just shoots all the time every time. And that is with Walmart ammo. Very accurate and for the price with 2 mags and a case, come on. I would purchase it again in a heartbeat. I clean it after every range day and put it away till next time.

The trigger improves greatly with a good cleaning and repetitive cycling. I blocked off the hammer from hitting the firing pin with a cotton ball and pulled the double action trigger 1000-2000 times. ......oiling the parts every 500 pulls. Now, it's nice and smooth!

Jaun Bigduche Google is your friend. Before you are overly critical of gun owners that distrust Taurus you’re going to have to go back in time and put yourself in the place of people that purchased their products and got turds. That wasn’t bad enough so Taurus gave them the world’s worst customer service to compliment the crappy product.
People aren’t just going to forgive and forget after an experience like that regardless of whether the company has turned over a new leaf or not. These days, you get one shot at impressing a consumer because there are so many other choices that they can make. Obviously Taurus will be fine because they are selling a very inexpensive product and they may very well have improved QC. I just don’t care. My experience with them was bad enough that I don’t have any interest in trying them again.
I love the features of this handgun and I only own single action double action handguns with the ability to decock the hammer.
I bought a TH9C a couple weeks ago on sale for a very good price; I finally got a chance to shoot it. Not only is it accurate, but it is very reliable. I fired over 100 rounds and had no malfunctions at all. I shot a mix of FMJ's, hollow point +P, as well as cast round nose hand loads and all ran flawlessly. Being left handed, I only with it had an ambi. safety.
@OhioMike: The FN FNX-9 is a high capacity hammer fired pistol which is completely ambidextrous! The safety lever is also a decocker. Greetings from Switzerland.

No where near a g2c (updated pt111 g2), its a updated pt809c with new grips and a year warranty compared to a lifetime warranty.

@@realamputeephil9471 I recently went to my local store and had to check the new TH series out and they are truly a nice addition to anyone's collection. The only reason why I mentioned the warranty is the fact that it covers the firearm and the magazine's which can become faulty over time (I had to send one in for repair). I have the 809, 809c, and the 840 and since the 840c has been long discontinued I have followed this launch in hopes to buy the TH40c. I hope that no one would ever have to use their warranty but the piece of mind knowing that my firearms are covered for life is worth more than the gun itself.
@@edbattle4919 I misspoke on my earlier comment. I meant to say the TH9c is a G2c with a de-cock lever. I wasn't even thinking about the full size gun. It does seem bizarre that the TH9 series only has a year warranty. When I made my first G2c purchase in February, it was only a 1 year warranty. Right after I purchased the second one, they changed the warranty to lifetime. Hopefully neither of us will ever need the warranty, or the need to use the gun for self defense.
The TH9 line in Brazil comes with Novak night sights, same design as the 3 dot sold in the US, but with Tritium. My TH9 single action trigger is aroun 4 pounds. Make sure you lub all trigger parts that move, I use WD40 for cleaning and Militec for lub. The 2 clicks for reset is normal unfortunately, but that doesnt make it a bad trigger.
I have the full-size version of this pistol and I absolutely love it. It’s my go to home gun. I haven’t had a single hiccup using any ammo, and it’s got several hundred rounds through it to date.

@@garageguy879 I have both of these guns, and the TH9C is a little large to carry in my Jeans pocket, so The CSX works a little better for that. S&W really missed the boat by not making the CSX both SA and DA in my opinion, but it's a great little gun to carry just the same and shoots great too. My TH9C was purchased first, and I really do like the way it handles and shoots, but I gotta tell you it is really fussy about reloads with certain bullet types and seating depth. I don't seem to have this problem with any other of my 9mm guns, but that's an issue that I know about and It doesn't worry me too much now that I'm aware of it. Taurus does do a good job with the TH9C and I'm glad I own one...👍👍
Thanks for the review. I've had striker spring failures in both Springfield and Glock. So I'm at the point where I don't trust striker fired guns and the picking is rather slim for DA/SA

Recently went to DA/SA with a CZ 75 PCR, and very satisfied with it . So nice to see another option , especially in the sub- compact size. Was glad to hear that the safety doubles as a de-cocker. I think this would be a good option for warmer weather CCW. Maybe my next gun. Nice price.

A lot of people switch out to genuine Novak sights I think it's excellent that they added those to this budget pistol with the grip the sights and the ammo capacity it's hard to beat this budget pistol and with the trigger ride that short reset for better accurate shots
I love my pt11 Taurus it's been very reliable with no problems I have put every ammo though it shoots like a dream
I've owned 3 pt111 g2c and g2s and the only ammo I've had an issue with is the RIP rounds. I literally had to rack the entire 40 round box through my weapons just to get them at the point of clambering smoothly. Not an ideal ammo for these guns. No issues with any others though. Besides that I love these guns and will probably invest in the th 9c as my next side arm

@@KSGunGuy01 For a $350 hammer fired compact pistol it seems like its not that bad. You shot really good groups with it. Hammer fired pistols will cost a little more than strikers. I have the G2c also. Great pistol but I do like hammer fired pistols better more for safety than anything else. The long DA first shot pull and I can see what the hammer is doing at all times. I have no visual indicator of what a striker is doing like on a bolt rifle so I carry without one in the chamber and rack the slide on the way up from draw when I am ready to shoot. I can recall back when there were no strikers at all until Glock showed up in about 1981. It was that plastic gun that tried to get passed airport security. Haha. I agree though about the TH9c. The trigger could be better and the short rails could be longer but its a $350 hammer. I opted for a Bersa TPR9c for my carry. Way better than the Taurus pistols in every way. Full rails and the outstanding trigger make it a soft/flat shooting pistol. The G2c is just my back up. Both are accurate and reliable. I am looking for a summer pistol with minimal print so a pocket size pistol more than a .380 and high capacity. That pretty much leaves only one option on the market right now. A Sig P365. The TH9C is a sweet compact gun, but I went with the full size TH9, I did get to shoot both. I personally enjoyed the full size more, it felt easier to shoot, the longer barrel and two 17 round mags and full ambidextrous options seemed like a better deal to me. Also I agree the trigger seems a little heavy for single action, but for the money and everything else about the gun I think it's a great buy. Great video I enjoyed hearing you views.
I currently own 9 Taurus guns, have owned a few more, and shot plenty of them as well. I've only ever encountered a problem with a first gen early model PT111 and PT145 handgun respectively. Both of which were not mine, which may have something to do with it, but out of the 13 Taurus guns I've owned in total, the 9 I currently own and keep, and the the at least 20+ I've shot, I cant say much bad about them. I've heard people say stuff like their guns are utter crap, and sure I've seen videos of some major malfunctions but I've also seen videos of Glock's blowing up but let's face it... that's not the norm. And for me, Taurus guns malfunctioning on the regular is not my experience.
As I said, a PT111 and PT145 first gen models, early production had some issues. Friend of mine traded a cheap 1911 for the PT145, and while firing the mag would auto eject itself under stress of recoil after maybe 3 rounds. Made sure we werent accidentally pressing the release ourselves and etc. Now the PT111 had failures to feed, eject, and extract sometimes and did so frequently enough that it wasnt reliable. Now, during this time... Taurus was stepping up their semi auto game, but I was sticking to their revolvers and it wasnt until maybe 2011 that I gave the semi autos a second look. I bought a PT140 G2, and it's still kicking and running well whenever I take it out. I also bought a PT25 that also runs quite well unless I buy real bad ammo for it and that seems to be an issue with all .25 ACP guns I own and have shot though. And I was convinced they were finally where they needed to be. Since then I've gotten an old PT132 Pro, and have shot original PT809 and PT840 handguns that I found to be very reliable, much like their 1911's and PT92's.
Every Taurus I own has had at least 2,500 rounds or more through them with exception to 2 and that's that PT25 and an old Taurus revolver I got from the 80's that I just dont shoot that often. Now, I've had ammo related malfunctions be it bad primers, improperly seated bullets, and cases expanding too much and getting stuck in the chamber. All of those issues I've experienced with other firearms at some point, often with the same ammo too to a point that I know it's not a "This gun is crap" thing. That being said, my main gripe with the TH9C is that it's filling the same role as the G2C, and the G2C is cheaper, but also a tad bit smaller. Now I suppose if you have a TH9 and like it and want more compact that's a great way to go for familiarity reasons. Or if you have an old PT809 gun and mags laying around. But otherwise, I dont see much point in making it the first choice of a compact gun from Taurus. Another point to the TH9C is it's DA/SA, the G2C isnt, but does have second strike capability as well.
So I suppose it's a to each their own.... I honestly think it's a good gun and Taurus is a reliable company. They're making real headway in both the semi auto market and some of their new revolvers look great. That being said, the budget world has plenty of competition but right now Taurus is killing it hard.

I have actual experience with them. And no, the price of 9 Taurus firearms based on prices I paid would get maybe 3 of some other brand. I'm no more partial to Taurus than I am S&W, Ruger, or whomever. I use what I know works and that I've tested to be reliable. Taurus just simply isnt the company you're making it out to be.

But generally the consensus is that Taurus revolvers from the 70's and 80's were "crap" if only because they had real heavy triggers and etc and their early semi autos were utter trash minus the PT1911 and and PT92's. Taurus revolvers now are scoffed at by S&W and Ruger fanboys, but plenty of videos showing them run side by side and they are evenly matched in more ways than one. As for semi autos, I think people are oversold on brand name alone. It's like H&K... they're nice guns but not for the price tag they ask for at times. Same goes with a lot of pistols out there... Most the time when I hear about Taurus guns failing it's either the older models, which I'll admit had problems. Even Taurus admitted they had problems, recalled them, gave us Gen 2 guns and have actively been working to improve them since.
But I also know that due to their price points on guns, Taurus sells a lot more than some of their competition too and as a result, more guns made means a higher chance to see lemons. It reminds me of Kimber 1911's. Kimber sells more 1911's than any other major 1911 manufacturing company, so it's no surprise you see more lemons in the batch or hear a lot of complaints about how bad Kimbers are. My experience with Kimber has truly been a hit or miss... seen real nice Kimber's and real bad ones, but often than not I see good clean examples that work.
Like I said, it's a to each their own situation. Time has shown me Taurus is a company that is reliable. If that changes you can best believe I will be first in line to speak about how horrid they've become or whichever. But right now... they make some of the best revolvers on the market and at a great price, they are killing the budget semi auto category right now, and they're continuing to improve on their products as a whole. I dont believe Taurus is perfect or anything... too many tales of Taurus guns breaking down and etc to say they're all false but I do believe a fair number is just internet bias and brand elitism and not actual issues. My opinion isnt that Taurus is the end all be all, it's just that they are worth the time if you've ever considered them.

Funny you don't go into detail, another Goober who put a few rounds out of his fanboy gun, and doesn't like bad comments is what I see. Experience my ass. Your comment about Kimber makes me laugh too...Kimbers fail not because of the large amount they make, but because they often use MIM SUBCONTRACTED parts that are not treated properly....as far as MIM parts go the jury is still out--show me a Kimber that went 20,000 rounds. The Taurus plant is a MIM plant by the way--close to 100%. After decades they STILL can't get it right.
B. Your experience? I have "experience" of over 30 years. The range I do rental gun maintenance work on has over 250 in stock--we DO NOT allow any Taurus crap in our rental case, and that goes for KelTec ....too many failures means too many pissed off customers. Will not sell in the store either. We WILL allow them to go to gunsmithing repair where I hand them over for a big repair bill.
C. Taurus got rid of the lifetime warranty for a reason...gee I wonder what that reason could be? Are you stupid enough to think it was because they were not getting guns sent back for repair in mass?
The warranty costs were killing profits...simple as that. Ruger doesn't have an unconditional lifetime warranty, but I have yet to see anyone charged for a repair on a gun that was sent back, and Ruger prices are about the same as Taurus.
D. What moron would pay $250/$299 for a Taurus when for $299 you can get a used police trade Glock that will still go another 100,000 rounds, which is about 99,800 more than you will get of that crap Taurus new. Even the S&W shield sells for $249 at PSA.
E. There are people who know the price of everything and the value of NOTHING. You can spot them with their Taurus, KelTec, imported 1911 copies, and other off brand guns. They actually cost MORE to own than a top line name brand that can be purchased used from police departments. I am talking SIG, Glock, H&K for $275-$450.
F. A SUCKER born every minute....easy to spot by the gun they carry.
Carry a Taurus and you are flagged. Simple as that!
The plus here is Taurus will hopefully get even better with time. It seems like they are headed in the right direction. If they can only keep the price down their market share will increase.

That's an excellent firearm Jerry, Romans 6two3 might also like the H&K P2000SK. I almost bought one but bought the CZ P07 which is not subcompact but I'm 5'7" and it hides very well in my IWB holster. But holding 18 in the mag (with the 16 round magazine and a +2 baseplate along with 1 in the tube), it is heavy, so I remedied the problem with NOVX 65 gr Extreme self defense rounds, makes the magazine very very light for all day carry. Carrying 1 magazine in the pistol and 2 extras in my pockets gives me almost a whole box of ammo capacity. I agree, that Taurus used to make guns that weren't reliable, does that mean that they will never be reliable ? That's a blanket statement that could start many arguments. That's kind of like buying a Rolex that has a problem, so automatically all Rolex's are junk. So just for shirts and gurgles I just bought the Taurus TH9 compact and have spent 2 months looking for spare magazines. Have yet to be to the range to see how many rounds I can put through it. I know that Taurus warranty is down to 1 year. But it sure seems like Taurus is selling so many, they can't keep up with demand.

I bought the TH9 Compact, it came with a 12 round and a 17 round magazine. I can find the 17 round but so far all I've been able to find is a 10 round magazine. Where can I get a 12 round Mec gar magazine ? I contacted Mec Gar, they are under contract with Taurus and can't sell to the public.

I had a chance to buy an 809c once and passed. This seems like an enhanced 809c to me. I like DA/SA and I like the look of this gun. I especially like the functionality of the stippling. Yet, one thing I remember about the 809c was the fantastic reset -- short, tactile, audible with no hitch.

Great review!!! Taurus has come a long way. I do have to admit that I still cringe a little bit when using a decocker. I know the gun won't go off but it's just the thought of the hammer slamming home with a live round in the chamber😕.

All because of a firing pin block failure and a woman got shot by her own gun and they figured out they have to step it up if they were going to survive and they've worked hard to get where they are now!!!
I don’t know why Taurus gets such a nose up attitude from shooters. In my long career since the USMC I have owned and shot Colts, S&W , H&K, Sigs, Brownings Etc. The Taurus handguns I own work, are accurate, and are budget friendly (cheap)! I just picked up a TH9 and at the range it didn’t disappoint. The grip is a little more aggressive than I’m used to, but that is the sign of the times. Sights were right on out of the box. No failures! Even my Colt gold cup can’t say that.
They used to have terrible customer service and sometimes questionable quality. They have improved greatly over recent years and their quality, I think, is very good. I’ve enjoyed mine. (Check out the PT-92, it’s made in a former Beretta plant that made the Beretta 92.). I’m shopping for a 1911 between the Taurus 1911 and Rock Island 1911...
I've shot my friend's Taurus PT809c a couple of times, the 809c is practically the same pistol as the TH9c (just the older version with different grip texturing). I can relate with struggling to get a comfortable grip on the pistol, for me it felt like I can't get a high enough purchase on the grip and getting it up there feels awkward. I myself also have a complaint with the double action mode of the trigger and I could only conclude that it is due to the fact that the trigger is made out of polymer and the flex on double action makes it what it is. Other than that the Taurus isn't such a budget pistol in the country I live in as they pretty much cost as much as a CZ P07, in the USA this is definitely a good choice for those who have a limited budget that desires a reliable modern day pistol . Great review as usual and really appreciate your practical approach to FA's with relevant data you bring to the table.

Tab up happened to me too! I was so confused at first, until I figured out what it was.
My carry gun is a Millenium G2. I have not had any problems with it, after about 2 years. I like it, and almost replaced it with the TH9C, just to go back to the traditional double action. But I decided that since the G2 shot so well, I would just stay with it, and I bought a Ruger Mark IV 22/45. I got it last week, and have not gotten to the range yet, but I plan on trying to get there this weekend. Taurus has had their problems of course, but so has many other gun companies like Kimber, Smith and Wesson, and Colt, Remington, and well pretty much everyone. They are doing much better, as evidenced by the fact that they are staying in business. By the way, I simply hate the street price on guns as opposed to the prices of MSRP. The Ruger I just bought had a MSRP of 409$. I got it for 278$ delivered to my FFL. That was including the shipping. I had to pay my FFL dealer 20$ for the paperwork, I would have had to give him ten bucks more if I did not have a CCW, as he would have had to run a check on me. The actual selling price of the gun from the internet dealer was 269$ plus a touch for shipping. I actually apologized to my local FFL dealer for not buying from him, but told him that I just could not afford to pay the price that he would have to charge for this gun. He told me that he could not even buy the gun for what I got it for from his supplier.
I have a son who has a CZ 2075 Rami, which I fell in love with. And perhaps one day, I will buy one of them as a carry gun, because you can really tell the difference in quality between that and the Taurus. The same thing with the SigSauer guns. They are just a well built gun. But for now, the Taurus is suited for the needs that I have, and have not given me any reason to consider replacing it.

6 years ago, when I first started buying firearms I considered TAURUS products, Value guns, however, over time I changed my mind and got rid of all my taurus firearms.
In my opinion , I now consider Ruger value guns, where reliability, quality and cost are much better that other low cost guns. However, If you can save a little bit more money, buy Smith & Wesson products.

Just recieved my Taurus G2S, Living in Upstate N.Y 10 rounds is max for mags. I'll say for a 7 +1 cancealed Carry Taurus did a great job. I'll do a review soon. As far a this clunker, doesn't interest me at all. I hate crappy triggers. The rest I could live with but not a poor trigger. Another excellent review as usual... I find it interesting that Taurus is renaming several of their firearms like this one... First we had the PT111g2 which they turned into the G2c... Then they took the PT709 slim and turned it into the G2s... Now this one used to be the PT809c and also this one's larger brother the TH9 used to be a PT809... The only thing I see they did with these TH models is gave them the same grip texture as the PT111 and g2c where these used to be much smoother so this is a Improvement... I currently own a PT111 G2 and the PT809 and PT845 which have all been excellent firearms over the years... I used to own a PT809c but sold it for some reason I can't remember so I am considering buying one of these as I really do prefer the double action hammer fired mechanism over striker-fired...

propdoctor21564 - it may have to do with their warranty policy change. New guns no longer have “lifetime warranty “, it’s now 1 year. Your opinion might be different, but to me it says they are not very confident in their products.
The 809 is completely amdidextrous, unlike this gun.

Taurus seems to be turning out better firearms since they moved to the states. I had a Millennium G2 that I bought used and it was superbly accurate. I am going to be buying 3 G2C pistols soon and am now, taking a good look at this one. Take care!

The Taurus spokesperson at the Shot Show says that besides releasing new guns they are going through all of their current guns and tightning up the specs. The 1911 has already gone through this process and was released last month.
There is no doubt in my mind that Taurus is on the move. Prior to this year I never paid them much attention but today I am very interested in what they are doing. The G2C was the turning point for me. I didn't look at it untiil after buying a Smth & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm. Once I fooled with the G2C I sold the S&W. I replaced it with the Walther CCP M2 but the G2C is deffintely going to get purchased this year.
When the Taurus TX22 hits the street that gun, maybe more than anything else they've done recently, should give a good expample of where the modern Taurus gun company is at and where they are going.

Where? The best I can find is $230 plus $20 shipping, but that price is still not bad.
I've got a regular G2 that I bought a few years ago. So far I had no issues with it. My only complaint is that first pull on the trigger is a bit long, but the reset and second fire is extremely crisp for a very budget gun. I think I paid $270 for mine.
Too bad the trigger is not great on this one and is heavy.

I own three Glocks 17, 19, and 21, my 17 is a first gen I bought back in 1987, still carry it often. I bought a pt111 G2 18 months ago and it has become my back up carry as I rarely carry just one. I have fired over 1,000 rounds and the only malfunction was a failure to feed using a pro-mag extended magazine with Hornady critical defense rounds. I plan on having the ramp modified to allow for the more conical shape critical defense rounds to feed better, other than that, I have no reason to not be confident in this firearm as my backup, or even my primary carry pistol on hot summer shorts days in my pocket holster. The pt111 G2 is very accurate and consistent, I love the feel and have grown to love the trigger pull and the action. I may have only spent $199.00 plus tax, but it looks, shoots, and feels like a much more expensive fanboy gun. People will always have opinions, but it is my trust and confidence that I listen to, and so far I love my Taurus so much that I have decided to buy my first .40 cal pistol and I just spent $289.99 plus tax on a TH40 based on my experience with my pt111 and shooting my sons PT809 which I really like as well. The G2S is a accurate gun. First 100 I didn't have any jams or misfire. I hit the target where I wanted. I shot brass fmj and p+ jhp without issue. She ate what I put in and frankly I'm more accurate with this gun than my glock 22. It's very concealable and you can +1 the mag maybe +2 also very light. The one thing I will say as a negative they way over lube the internals affecting the trigger. The trigger feels awkward but smooths out. I found this from a glob of lube as a cause. Also has good saftey features for something always in your pocket. It handles recoil very well for its size compared to others of its size to. I noticed that immediately. Best buy I think its value is definitely beyond what they charge.

I’ve owned about 7 Taurus guns since the early 90s and I have never had a problem with any of them! I now own the G2C, M66, and M85! I love my Taurus guns. You can’t beat them for their price point.

I like my Th9c. Sorta funny, but the grip is what I like most. I have a Bersa thunder UC pro. Very similar in size. Fantastic trigger on that gun. But The Th9c has balance or something that is just perfect for my hand. Nice video BTW 👍
I like Taurus and have been happy with mine but if you get a bad one you're screwed. Getting replacement parts or sending it in can be a real pain. Don't be surprised if it takes over 6 months to get it fixed

CK check into a G2c. I own one and can verify that mine has been 100% tried and true. 0 failures. 0 issues. And I even ran the dreaded Winchester white box through it for 200 rounds of the 900-something that are in it at this point. I've been trying my honest day's work to break it. I've used steel case ammo, +p loads, reloads, jhp defense rounds of all sorts, and it Just Runs like a sewing machine. Also I purposely didnt clean it after the initial unboxing cleanup, for about 500-550 rounds. Still nothing. Cleaned it up and it made no difference. Trigger was a little more smoothed out but that could be from the rounds I put through it. I've been scared of Taurus since the old PT145 (I believe was the model) in .45acp that I bought from a friend. Catastrophic failures and cracking in the frame/components. I said never again. But I took a gamble on the G2c to step outside of my glock box I've been living in. And I have to admit, hands down the G2c is absolutely rock solid from what I can tell. It's now my EDC, as it's so comfortable to carry and I have better point of aim results and double tap results over my old g19. Best $212 I've ever spent on a firearm.

@@robl884 yup i have the old model in the pt140 and i took right from the box to the range and ran 300 rounds through it. got it back in 2010 never knew you were supposed to clean them first. i just checked it out really well and loaded it up never an issue from it. still havent cleaned it as of yet with about 550 through it so i must got a good 1, its just been living in its box tho as i got a px4 storm and did it the same way no cleaning of it and got around 800 rounds in it but that was on the paper in the box with it say get it really dirty before first clean so i am but think its about time to clean it up may go for 1000 first just to see if it can lol glad your happy with the new one you got

Thank you for mentioning its ambi features, so many reviewers do not, yet 10 to 12 % of the population is left-handed. A question for Taurus though -Why didn't they make the safety ambi when it's the one that really matters? It's ambi on the full-sized TH9.
The trigger is heavy for safety even in single action, that hand gun is designed for defense and offence shooting NOT for competition. In short it is NOT competition gun to have light and short trigger.

Good job on the video. I do appreciate it. I would have loved to seen it side-by-side with the G2c. I have had a G2c as my carry for a little over a year now. I have over 1,500 rounds through it, and never once had any failures or issues with it. But I have also been intrigued by the CZ p 01. This Taurus caught my eye because of its similarities.

Thing about a carry gun, sights don’t matter much in an emergency situation, DA is BY FAR safer!! Having accidentally shot myself, I’d say I’m experienced in that regard!! Long trigger don’t matter, hard trigger don’t matter, it’s a carry gun to SAVE YOUR ASS!! If you want nice triggers and sights buy that in your range toys!! Safety and reliability is #1 concerns for carry!! Not meaning to pick on this particular youtuber and he does overall do a great review BUT folks need to quit worrying about the “perfect” carry gun as much as they do the SAFEST carry gun that’s reliable!! I now carry DA only and my “toys” have the nice triggers and best of everything else!!

Thanks for the review. Me and my wife will only use a double action hammer-fired pistol for our concealed carry and sadly this TH9C is not all that compact at 7" long.
If you still need a light, look into the Olight Mini Valkyrie 2.
The ADE green laser is a perfect attachment to the TH9C. I have it and shoots remarkable with the accuracy of the laser being borderline perfect

I purchased the Th9c a few weeks ago. I have 500 rounds through the firearm.
Barrel scratches are many and.i was surprised to see that much wear already.
I like the initial trigger pull, but the second pull is too much.
Other than that, this is a great firearm and I will be carry the Th9c frequently.

I like you think Taurus needs a little credit for putting out some good reasonably priced handguns lately. It’s hard to overcome a reputation for some questionable guns and really poor CS. Go to Amazon/shooting/paper targets. You can get 50 for around 40-45 dollars.
I dig those targets simply because they show up reasonably well on film. Off camera, I use basic paper targets to save money. We said about Taurus and I 100% agree. Thank you and cheers InSight!

I just picked one up tonight brand new for $200.00 😮. Then went over to the Taurus website and bought 2 OEM 17 round TH9C mags. All in pistol and 4 mags $317.00 total delivered. I Already own the full size 40, Knew I had to have this one. By the way very good review.

Unbelievable. I have same set. PT 92 and TH9c. Also TX22. I love all of them.
My wife and I both have the PT111, and I also have the PT99. My PT111 has had 500+ rounds put through it, and my PT99 at 1,000+. All 3 operate flawlessly, and haven't had a single issue. Looks like I may have found my next budget buy.

I have a PT 809 4.25 inch barrel and love it it fits perfect into my big hands and I trust it with my life it has never failed me. The first Taurus I purchased was the 709 slim really liked it except for one thing my hands where just to big that's why I sold it than purchased the 809. I am KNOW going to purchase this gun after your review. Thank you

Great review. Spot on. The THC is a sloppy gun but it sends the rounds down path just fine while saving your wallet$$.
@7.19 you mention wear; it's basically fudging up the mirror finish and putting striations on the metal. All cosmetic only. I never cared for keeping my gun LNIB condition. I like it if it has battle scars!

I carry the Bersa TPR9c which is fully ambidextrous.
DA/SA, 3.25" barrel, 13+1, ambidextrous thumb safety/decocker and slide release. Awesome trigger,
both DA and SA.
The Bersa list price is ~$450 but if you shop you can even beat $350 + ffl fees. Instead of being
an "entry level" gun, the Bersa TPRs are duty quality guns. They have a compact and a full size and
a competition version. The TPRs are used by the Argentinian Army and their federal police.
Bersas have won multiple IDPA world championships (Both the BP9C and the TPR9 families), definitely
not "entry level".

Having had a G17 come unglued on me with full slide failure it has soured me on Glock and striker fire plastic guns. I even got rid of my XD’s. I to am a fan on DA/SA hammer autos. I hope to get some trigger time with the Taurus as I have been impressed with their wheel guns. May just have to check this one out?
The reason the magazine catches are sticky on the Taurus is because the release is cammed away like a wedge instead of a tooth just dropping out of the notch in the magazine which is normal on most pistols.
I wish there were more subcompact DA/SA options
I've sent too many Tauruses back to the factory for me to trust them. But im glad they seem to be doing better a d did well for you.

Yeah I've only owned Their revolvers and a 1911. Never a problem with them but I know several folks that have had problems with their Semi-autos. Older models than he's talking about.

The Grip reminds me of the Glock Hump on the Backstrap section, the beavertail looks like a Sig P320 , the upper part of the Frame are the Slide lock and safety and tabs to remove the Slide reminds me of the Beretta PX-4 Storm . And the Barrel reminds me of a SCCY . Kinda of a mix of all Four . The Slide Em , Maybe an XD . And the Trigger Guard looks Exactly like a Beretta .
