  • Out of the box, the HDMI kit only allows you to mirror while in park. These are the instructions to get mirroring to work while driving, so that you may use your favorite apps such as Google Map!

This is the only video that got it to work for me. Follow his instructions EXACTLY. Turning off the power at the right time is key. Thanks so much!

My most sincere thanks to Channel D. After trying multiple times the sequence in his video, it worked. I have a 2016 Honda CR-V Turing, and connected a Samsung Galaxy S8+ phone wirelessly using MiraCast (MiraScreen dongle into HDMI). I drove upwards of 45 mph with no issues. Colors in the display need to be adjusted. I'm so glad this video was posted, thanks again!

Is there any way to get this setting to stick so you don't have to do this with each restart of the car?

Do hdmi work for android Samsung galaxy phones or do it only for iPhones

So you need to press all these buttons every time?

Does the setting stick? or you have to go through those steps each time you start a car?

    • @stevepetrarca7885

That's my question too. So far it resets back when you turn off the car so you have to do this again each time.

Thanks to Channel D in the video link above... I just went for a spin in my new "2016" touring CRV w/nav playing a music video up on the screen from UA-cam. First try it didn't work cuz I missed the "POWER AUDIO OFF AGAIN" before the last step when turning VDD error back on.
I cant remember if I was in Park or Drive with my foot on the brake when i did the last step when It successfully work though

Thanks for sharing your experience, it adds value to other instructions for the same model (CRV 2015 Touring that uses dual screen for Navi).
But you do not show driving highway speed, or at least faster than 5mph. Did you ever try that? I also have CRV Touring 2015 late model, going to buy a cable and try this out. Can you post your firmware/etc versions (obviously no VIN needed) please?

Yes, these instructions work for me at faster than 5mph and at highway speeds.

Hey, you cared to respond to a comment to a 1,5 years old video, that's very generous of you!
But seriously, would it be a royal pain to share some more details - like version numbers, both on standard and hidden screen? I bought the cable, spent quite some time trying to reproduce your success, no cigar so far. Namely: on that second step that you so brilliantly figured out, when holding the brake in drive mode, and screen mirror active, when I flip this parameter back, the screen is back to "HDMI In" and no changes when start moving. Repeated it a bunch of times with all 4 power on/off variations (power off -> turning on during key press as in your video; power off -> off; on -> on; and on -> off). Same result every time.
So, either some minuscule details (which you may consider irrelevant) are making this difference, or this possibility is unique to your car. I am very interested in getting the trick to work on mine, but thus far you're the only one who I am aware of to succeed with this certain trim/year. In case of any concerns about privacy, I will send you my versions and you can just confirm if this is a 100% match, or any item is newer/older. Let me know plzzzzzz.

Serge Ku As you so passively aggressively point out. The video is old. Do you think firmwares might have changed? I can assure you Honda patched this “bug”

@BostonPilot: Errrg... "so passively aggressively"... you really need to say this? Do you honestly believe it adds value, or maybe makes world a better place?
And yes, I am aware that the video is old and firmware might have changed. But no, you cannot assure me that Honda patched this "bug" in my car's firmware, for just one simple reason - this could be a new bug as well.
I would be happy to receive such assurance from the original video poster stating that the trick no longer works after visit to Honda dealership and firmware upgrade to version ###. Or I could be similarly happy to meet you at some inter-corporate outing, learn that you are Honda software Dev/QA related to the matters, so I would just trust what you say, give a sigh, and won't waste any more time chasing the ghosts.
Without any of above happening, I am quietly hoping (and sometimes searching/asking) if anyone has better information.

Can you elaborate where your experience deviates from the video? Totally possible that there are different versions of firmware on the CRV, but it works 100% of the time for me following the exact sequence I laid out.

    • @nicholaslong3385

I have followed the exact steps at least 6 times to be sure I wasn't missing something but it simply goes back to the black hdmi screen when the vehicle starts moving. I also noticed the my small led light is never illuminated green as I see yours is in the video. I bought my CRV in early 2015, maybe there is a difference in Firmware.

I spent whole evening today trying to reproduce the second part (the one after car starts moving). I bought my Honda CRV 2015 Touring in the end of 2015, I think it cannot be later than that. But there is NO small green LED on the power button, only red blinks when car security is armed, but nothing when car is unlocked.
So, with car in drive, me holding brakes, image reappearing, when I go to the same settings and re-enable "VSP Error = ON" and go back, I get "HDMI in" message back, and if I resume driving, this message stays. If I flip it back to "OFF", I am back to square one. How does this work for you?
I have a subtle feeling that I did see the image reappear once after flipping VSP to OFF with drive paused, and it had something to do with switching gear to neutral or reverse in-between, but I wasn't able to repeat it again.
Channel D, can you re-check on your side if there are any more details you may consider insignificant and not mentioned? For example, I noticed on your video that when you press 3-key combination, the audio actually powers back on at this very moment (the HDMI AUX line appears), though it is possible to avoid that if holding the keys in a different order - is this of any importance?
Also, have anyone else been able to ever reproduce your steps in their Touring?
Can you please post the versions of your firmwares(Application, DBOOT, Software loader, System uCom, Map Data)? These are masked on your video for some reason - send privately if you are concerned of any disclosure.
