I think you meant "transmit mode" per FAR 91.225(f). Not "transit mode".

Is this new feature, ADS-B out, part of the Remote ID that is being implemented in all aircraft in the coming year or two?

I guess with all the NEXGEN equipment/procedures the FAA is implementing, having questions on ADS-B is probably good to have.

Of course leave it on all the time. How else will they know where you are and what you are doing....

Welcome to government control. ADS-B is about control and tracking for the government.

Hey John maybe you can answer this.
I’ve asked a lot of people and nobody can give me a straight answer. If you’re going to operate within the mode c veil of a B and your plane is not equipped with a mode c but you have the new ADSB in and out in your plane are you legal to be with in the mode c vail ?

I would say yes. Adsb has not changed the requirements for a mode c transponder

As he said in the video, ADSB transmits more than position and velocity. Per 91.227 it also transmits barometric pressure as well as the Mode C code. So yes. If you have ADSB Out you are legal everywhere below 18,000’ where Mode C is required. Above 18,000’ 1090ES is required.

Something like a tailbeacon has no way to transmit a 4096 code. Mode C xpndr is still required under 91.215

Still need a mode C transponder

@@fly8ma.comflighttraining199 I am not aware of any transponders with ADSB Out that don’t also transmit Mode C. I don’t think it’s even technically possible to make one that doesn’t. You can buy UAT devices that work with your current transponder to provide ADSB Out but they all require a Mode C transponder to work. So if you have certified ADSB Out, you will have Mode C.

It's called the "FAA knowledge test" not the written.
