    The VOR is tuned to Jamestown VOR, and the aircraft is positioned over Cooperstown Airport . Which VOR indication is correct?

    Great stuff... If I go for my PPL I will be using your courses.... I couldnt help but notice the airplane picture at the end of this module has a srcrew/rivet loose on the right wing, and it seems the skin is lifting off a bit. I hope someone fixed that a long time ago..... Thanks again for the free videos, so I can study and get ahead of the curve before I am financially ready to fly.

  • @Jeffhowardmeade

    How does one select the VOR radial that one wishes to use as a nav marker? There must be another piece of equipment involved that nobody ever mentions.

    • @Yotanido
      @Yotanido 7 років тому

      If you want to fly on a certain radial, you just dial it in with the OBS knob.
      Unless you mean selecting the actual VOR. You do that with the nav radio.

    • @Jeffhowardmeade
      @Jeffhowardmeade 7 років тому

      Yndostrui The nav radio. That's the missing piece. Every time I ask about the VOR my flight instructor says not to worry about it now, and all the VOR videos start with the VOR already programmed in.

  • @BrianAnim
    @BrianAnim 5 років тому +2

    2:35 why are you reading at "about 45 degrees" ? Never explained why you pick that heading specifically, it's not where the needle is pointing.

    • @tifk8864
      @tifk8864 5 років тому

      He says about 315 degrees because that is the approximate heading that the aircraft would need to fly in order to track towards the station. Keep in mind the needle is not pointing at a specific heading but simply deflecting to the left or right to show where the 'dialed' radial is relative to your aircraft.

    Good method for answering questions but I don’t think this really delves into the “how” of how a VOR/ OBS/ CDI actually works. Sure you can answer the question but you won’t truly understand it. If you want to fly direct to a VOR, tune your OBS until it’s dead straight, then fly that heading until the cone of confusion then tune and fly your outbound course..
