- ROCKY V (1990) | FIRST TIME WATCHING | MOVIE REACTION
Recently retired boxer Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) falls on hard times after his accountant mismanages his finances. He stages a comeback of sorts by mentoring fiery young boxer Tommy (Tommy Morrison), while also trying to mend his shaky relationship with his own son, Robert (Sage Stallone). These challenges prove to be at least as tough as any fight Rocky has faced in the ring. He wonders if he will be able to meet them and raise his arms in victory again.
Enjoy my reaction as I watch "ROCKY V (1990)" for the first time!

While this movie isn't great, the flashback scene with Mick is a hall of fame moment.🥊
❤️🥊
You know what? I’m tired of folks saying that about this movie…. This movie is top 4 in the franchise and arguably the most memorable #hottake
@@wiggywilSly doesn't even like this movie. He gave it 0 out of 10.
@@wiggywiluhhhhh, memorable how exactly? Aside from Mick flashback, the rest is forgettable. Even Stallone didn't like it.
It's very good .. but to be honest Stallone stole almost all of that speech Mickey gave . He got it from Mike Tyson 's first trainer . One example ua-cam.com/users/shortsbhXVxGEhLNI
Great reaction. Rocky 5 is not my favorite, but it’s a step to get to Rocky Balboa, which is wonderful. Can’t wait to see your reaction to that one.❤️
Coming soon! Thanks for watching ❤️
"Somebody explain to me"...
Willing suspension of disbelief😉
Keep in mind, in the fictional timeline of the franchise continuity, Rocky's son was born in November 1976. There is no specific year given as to when this movie is supposed to take place, other than the late '80s/1990. Nor does it make any attempt to make clear just how long a period of time this movie takes place over. So his son should be about 12-14 years old.
Also, it was *NOT* Paulie's fault. Losing the $$$ had absolutely *NOTHING* to do with Paulie's "jealousy". The accountant, whom Rocky and Adrian hired and trusted(and thereby Paulie himself would have no reason to suspect of potential wrongdoing) was the one at fault. Rocky & Adrian eventually understood this after their initial reaction of shock and misplaced blame.
John G. Avildsen also directed the first Rocky movie, and the original 3 Karate Kid movies.
The lying thief Accountant and Ivan drago took out rocky
💯
Mickey speech is indeed very touching, specially for being inspired from the real speech of Cus D'amato speaking about Mike Tyson.
In real life, Paulie could have been in trouble legally for enabling the accountant to wipe out the money. He would have been in trouble with me too.
You will cherish 6 so much ...
I have brain trauma from a bad fall with no sign of brain damage. I would be unable to do any contact sports where I would or could get a shot to the head until I was medically cleared. I had a second opinion, which Rocky should have gotten. The scan we are given doesn't look too good, but yeah a second opinion would have helped Rocky medically in the long run and even got some treatment options. It takes more than just avoidance of further injury. Vitamin B Complex to help improve cognitive function maybe?
Stallone almost died because Stallone wanted Dolph Lundgren to really hit him. He hit Stallone in the heart and popped the membrane that surrounds the heart.
😓
Was in traction as a kid watching this in the hospital looking for hope again and ROCKY V was good enough for me
Yes Stallone wrote this movie. He brought in the director of the first Rocky movie to try and bring back some of the grit of the original movie. The result in that area was mixed.
Rocky V got a bad rap because originally it was the series conclusion and it is terrible as a concluding installment. With Rocky Balboa as the series conclusion, this movie comes off better as it helps set up for what happens to Rocky in Rocky Balboa and then in the first two Creed movies.
Yes, Rocky Balboa ended up making Rocky V a much more tolerable re-watch👍
We’re with you Girl , more about the street life in that way,❤ all his movies
There isn’t an actual BTS. There are a bunch of interviews and clips that will give you the answers you seek.
This was my first Rocky movie I seen in theaters. I was 10 when it came out. Left the movie disappointed. They can’t end it there.
Thank God he did Rocky Balboa!!!
This was Stallone's real kid who has sadly since passed.
😥💔
Adrian in Rocky 4 looks so phenomenal in the movie❤❤❤❤ 3:30
The Rocky movie that is denied from existence. At least Balboa made up for it 😂
After your reaction to Rocky Balboa, can you give us your ranking of the movies from favorite to least favorite?
YES!!!! 🤗
@@cuethecommentary 👍🏼
40:50 -- This is how the media SHOULD have reacted to Lia "sandbagger" Thomas "winning the title"!
Take me back was performed by Sylvester Stallone brother Frank Stallone
The next movie "Rocky Balboa" is the perfect finish to the series...
In many ways... my favorite Rocky movie!!!!
I’m excited to watch 🤗
9:00 -- How would Paulie (of all people) even legally been able to do such a thing? And Rocky couldn't have done commercials, autograph signings and whatnot to get some money?
Stallone initially wasn't going to do a fifth film and he felt IV was going to be the ending for the franchise. In the original script, Rocky was supposed to die during that street brawl against Tommy. 56:10
😮
The promoter did the best Don King impression lol. Killed it.
And Pauly is such a burden. How is he so jealous of his SISTER's man?! It's not like your ex-wife's new man. At 17:24 Pauly has no business teaching the young man how to not fall for a scam. You gotta be kidding.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Next one is WAAAY better. Stallone wrote this, who wrote the character of Rocky to die in that street fight but the studio wasn't having that
Rocky V isn't everyone's cup of tea. I feel like the right word for it is DISAPOINTING, because it had the potential to be a good movie if it was done a bit differently. I think after Part IV, The only way to give Rocky a tougher appointment is to essentially clone Rocky. I think that's what they were trying to go for here, someone that has trained to fight exactly the way Rocky does, so he thinks the same way, moves the same way, knows what Rocky is going to do before he does it. I think a different approach could of made this story great.
I like how you caught on how different Rocky 5 is tonally as the movie goes. The crazy part is, it’s directed by John G. Avildsen. The same director for the first Rocky movie. I don’t know what happened here. For a movie that harkens back to the vibe of the first few movies, it somehow feels the most different in the franchise to date. I even had to see if Stallone really wrote this one. And sure enough he did. I’m not trying to hate Rocky 5. But you know something feels off. It’s just interesting how this one isn’t particularly as immersive or as memorable as the rest. You pretty much praised the best/decent parts of the movie. Lol
I don’t know why I thought Sylvester directed the first one.
@@cuethecommentary Yeah one would assume. But interestingly not the first one. He directed the rest of the movies. Excluding 1&5. He always had a strong working involvement with this franchise though.
Apparently after the fight rocky and Adrian were held captive stuck in Russia for 5 years by Soviet Union for embarrassing their champ drago
Rocky V was hated for original ending where he actually dies to Tommy Gunn in the streets.
Along with seeing rocky getting robbed by his accountant and nobody wanted to offer financial assistance to rocky at all except getting his face beaten up and wrongfully use him
Sylvester Stallone Directed Rock 2,3,4. John G. Avildsen directed Rocky 1 and Rocky 5 but to be clear Stallone was also a Writer for Rocky Series but Rocky 5 had a lot of Writers and it lost the direction of what Rocky was really about 🤷🏾♂️
You also need to check out the movie 8 seconds.
This isn't my favorite, however, it needed to be done in order to get to ROCKY BALBOA. Then CREED...which I absolutely loved!!
Sylvester Stallone’s real son is in this one
*Sylvester Stallone movies
Yes, absolutely Rambo
*Arnold Schwarzenegger movies
Kick it off with Terminator
*Jean Claude Van Dame Movies
Kick it off with Kickboxer
Noted 🤗❤
I would also personally suggest these Stallone movies:
Over The Top
Cobra
Demolition Man
watch your hate speech this movie is fire same with you Adam no hate speech
The last 20 minutes of the film was directed by a different director.
Admittedly, this is the weakest film but ROCKY BALBOA is a near masterpiece as are the CREED films which Stallone is in the first two.
Rocky Balboa is a much better movie. Sylvester Stallone wrote this, John Avildsen was the filmmaker who directed the first movie. This movie is slow and disappointing; the next one is much more satisfying!
I think this one is slower because Rocky ain’t doing a lot of the fighting
Well this is the least favorite of the franchise but it still has some of that Rocky heart but not the magic that made the other one great. Thank God for Rocky Balboa because the fifth movie would have been the death of the franchise for real. The sixth movie to me definitely redeemed the series
Excited to watch! 🤗
Uh what? What's Paulie being jealous of Rocky got to do with him being slicked into signing power of attorney to the accountant? I don't like Paulie either but this is just a case of him being foolish in getting the nest by a crooked lawyer. 🤔
Após Rocky 6 assista também a CREED
Yea he wasn’t in Russia that long they just fast fwd the Kids age which makes no sense
No they were not in Russia that long
😩🤣
Maybe dont do a reaction when you're that tired. I was about one more yawn or "I'm tired" whine from clicking out.. I'ma unsubscribe and let you go get some sleep. 🤨😑
Awful, awful film.
