Hi hi. Just found your page. Looks interesting. While watching I had thought. We miss a golden opportunity (I think) because we forget many rural areas are off- grid. I am from KZN and grew up in a township. Now some of my friends have returned to traditional or tribal areas. The chief allotted land to them and are now part of the communities. They are living off grid. Perhaps part of our journey is making contact with communities who are established and finding ways to connect to their knowledge systems and sharing what we know. Thank you for sharing. It feels so refreshing to watch.
Hi! Thanks for that! I think we are thinking similarly! We have a lot of friends who live in township around Cape Town; most of them have land in the rural parts of South Africa but don’t live there because they can’t sustain themselves. Alot of people move towards the cities looking for work but end up living in a different kind of poverty.. we want to learn how to build a self reliant lifestyle and help others to do the same ❤️🔥
The buzz word is sustainability and now regenerative farming etc. And you so correct if there is no access to water in a rural area (and people can’t afford to have boreholes dug) it is unfortunate. So doing what you do is encouraging and showing what opportunities exist where others see mayhem. ❤️
@@ProudAfricanalways we appreciate that!! Right now we are looking into ways to collect rain water and even mist out here that low cost and efficient. The local community has a few government boreholes that have not been maintained and broken down. We want to find ways to collect water and even plant things like trees that will bring the rains 🌧
If you can try and create water catchment areas so you do not deplete the ground water. This way you can regenerate the land and soil naturally. It will raise water tables and it'll all start moving in accordance with nature.
Great idea!! We dug parts of our garden that way to catch some water! We definitely don’t want to deplete the ground water! Soon we will start catching rain water and get some nicer filters to reuse our gray water from our washing better 💦‼️
We think so too! We are going to rebuild our sport for development programs on a foundation of food gardens (with a regenerative permaculture approach!)
That is why we are trying something different! We think going off-grid is a good way to ensure that more people have enough (to eat, and know that they are enough!) Hopefully by sharing our story we can help more people find their value in this world! Where are you from!?

@@unisonproductions123 it is Charne here from OGS. I was a police reservist officer for 6 years, based in Cape Town. Out of my own experience the rural eastern cape feels a lot safer. Riebeeck East where we are situated is so safe that the residents told us they hardly have vehicle break-ins, however, I am sure there are areas that is more dangerous, just like in the western cape. Being a Capetonian, it is lovely not having to hide behind tall walls and lock everything all the time. I am born and raised in Cape Town and have not lived in the eastern cape for long. I do however think there is a big misconception that the Eastern Cape is very dangerous where in fact we experience it as very tranquillising and refreshing. The people are so friendly, grateful and appreciative. I know Hermanus have higher crime stats now due to the poaching which brings along a long list of secondary crimes and characters. I think irrespective of the province in South Africa or any other country for that matter, where there is inequality...crime follows, the more unequal, the higher the crime numbers. Thus, its our mission to lift and pull people up with us, so that we can all stand shoulder to shoulder, on the same level.
More people can have more
The truth lies somewhere in the middle
I love your messaging
I love what you are doing over there I wish more and more people could open their eyes to OFF Grid living and realise how great that can be.
Thank you! That’s the idea! We want to show people what we are doing, how and why so more people can do it and meet their basic needs ❤️🔥

Going off grid in South Africa would be a dream. A permaculture project in South Africa could be a game changer.
