Welcome to the homestead community! I am so pleased I came across your channel. Don't give up! Your hard work and sacrifice will pay off. We started our homestead 7 years ago. With limited resources we are no where near where we would like but would not change a thing. The peace and blessings of hard work and learning are priceless. By documenting with your videos you can look back year after year and see how far you have come. It will help to keep you inspired on difficult days. I left the corporate world to be a stay at home mom on the homestead. It has been the hardest but most rewarding job of my life. Skill building is the most important thing you can invest in. Start studying small machine repair / mechanics. Get a broken mower or bush cutter and take it apart. See how it works and study how to fix it. Work your way up to larger machines. It will save you a ton of money. But also invest in manual tools. You never know when fuel , oil and parts will no longer be obtainable. I'm so proud of you guys! Love and blessings from Quebec, Canada. I look forward to following on your journey of growth. Ps. Would goats or pigs help with your bush control; problem? I'm going to look at your other videos :)

Thank you for this beautiful message full of encouragement. We would be lying if we said we are not scared. We are terrified to try this. We are often unsure of what we are doing. LOL, many times we want to give up (we have developed new curse words LOL). But knowing that you have been on the journey for 7 years and still feel like you have a lot to do, really does make us feel like we need to give ourselves a break. So thank you for sharing that. Buying broken equipment is such a good idea, we usually go to auctions,so we will be looking for some tools next time to learn to fix. We are so looking forward to your advice and guidance all the way across the oceans. PS: We are going to be buying 3 goats before the end of the year, we don't have chickens yet 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@millennialhomesteader Fear is the enemy! We lay our burdens in God's hands and that is how we have made it thus far. It gives us peace and a centered balanced perspective. I don't know if you are people of faith but you are young and strong and as far as I can tell full of love and good humor. Keep those qualities in the toughest of times and you will make it. We are by no means the know all, be all and still make our fair share of mistakes but we can share what has worked for us. If you would like to search me out on Facebook I am under my name with a thumbnail of our chickshaw with chickens with a field of dark pink flowers and pine trees in the background. My husband Stephane is mechanic, plumber, electrician, butcher, carpenter, law and taxes and I also have some of those skills along with gardens, cooking, baking, preserving, accounting, inventory management. We are pretty much Jacks of all trades, masters at none Lol. Between the two of us we have raised 9 children. We only have one at home now. Cyr-Leon he is 7 and the biggest handful of love. I look forward to following your journey of learning. -Kathryn in Quebec

Hi you 2. I am a new subscriber. I am gonna watch all the previous videos. There's a No Knead Bread recipe on YT. Try it. It is so easy and quick. Only white bread flour, luke warm water, salt, sugar, instant dry heast and a wooden spoon to stir all the ingredients. Leave it to double in volume and put it in the oven or outside on an open fire with hot colesnon top and bake it for an hour. I use white plastic milk bottles and yougurt tubs to label my veggies. Lots of ❤ and all the best with your homestead. Granny Western Cape.

Thanks so much for watching 😂. Even more thankful you went to watch some of the older stuff. We plan to get atleast 3 goats, the issue: fencing. They say don’t get goats if your fence lets out water and so far ours would leak an ocean. Next month we will fix the fence and Jan we will get goats to control the area below. Stay tuned 😊

With a bit of luck your channel will grow enough so you can make some money off that.
I admire you. I live in a JHB suburb, have chickens and grow quite a bit of food, but I'm far from self-sufficient. My neighbours think I am weird.
I am planning to move to a small Free State town and do more.
I subscribed to your channel as I really like your energy.

Thanks so much. If we can afford chicken feed off the channel that will be enough 😂😂, those buggers sure do eat. Nothing weird about you. You just have a vision no one around you understands. It is unfortunate that it takes a massive global change like a pandemic, food shortage, grid failure etc for people to understand. If you can find a community of like minded people then do it. We are praying for your vision ❤️.

To solve our lack of address make friends with a local shop many will accept deliveries for you We use a local pharmacy. Also order only when you are over the free delivery limit. We sold our car and bought a bakkie saved a fortune on delivery costs Keep going will be worth it in the end Try goats to keep the bush under control One way to sell you produce is to use your work Selling from the car boot n the lunch break once a week put a note on the office notice board That soon takes off

Good idea. We have decided to have the goats at the lowest part of the homestead. We won’t have any trees of importance and have lots of grass that needs to be controlled. That way our fruit trees will be safe ❤️. Thanks for the advice.
