They said the grocery store is getting overwhelmed. BULLSHIT. There are two grocery stores in Homer. Save-U-More has products you had never thought you would see, and they have meat and stuff for the Russians. Its an incredible store.! There is no shortage of grocery's in Homer. These kids are the problem. Nothing she has said is true! Challenge me. No health care? Carbon monoxide problems in Homer? These kids are Antifa.

My sister is an Alaskan native . My mom lived in Homer for YEARS. She’d always mail me fur jackets amd moccasins and all my friends didn’t understand that. They’d laugh and call me an Indian girl :( I had a really pretty rabbit fur too :) I loved it. I love this video thisnis exactly how they lived . My mom always made jam too and mailed me homemade jam 3) my step dad was a carpenter amd fisherman . They lived pretty good. I enjoyed this video sooooooooo MUCH . I loved this
My best friend from growing up is Athabascan from Alaska💗 her mom always told us great stories of when she was a small girl growing up in Alaska. However, she did often mention how bored they could get 😆
I worked in Naknek ,Dutch Harbor and Kodiak in the early eighties and found the Alaskan natives to be so gentle, quiet and real compared to all the american fishermen who were so loud and crazy. We went out one night fishing on a small skiff with an Alaskan Native guy,,was a timeless experience,,very precious memory. So much respect for those beautiful families.
wish them luck...but that house...needs to say the least...alot of work. I live 200km north of the artic circle, winters are nice but you got to have a good place to live in.
This man has everything he could possibly want, MILES away from any city, or nightclub or anything like that. Enjoy your life in the woods Anthony, you did something I wish I could do. I just don't know if I could leave my family, I don't see them coming with me.
You only live once and it’s a short experience at that. You are born alone and you will die alone. If you want something in life it needs to be done for and by yourself. You family will be there with you in the afterlife, and luckily I’m this modern day and age you can video call and fly in a metal tube at 500 mph so you aren’t ever truly alone or without family. Imagine our hunter gatherer ancestors who traveled the planet in foot and probably lost contact with friends and family never to see or hear them again.
Peter I found your channel a day ago and I’m so happy that I did! You’re so respectful towards everyone whom you come I contact with and it’s refreshing to see that. I’m so elated to see the different places and people who are just living their best life because they have chosen to do so. We enjoy your videos and we wish you the very best and safe travels. God bless you.
I'm an 81 year-old and I love your channel, Peter !! Are you typically away from home for long periods of time, but then go home to do your editing from time-to-time ? Do you take your wife with you occasionally on your trips ?
This is an incredible channel. I watch / listen to a lot of youtube and have not come across anyone quite like you. You give people respect, learn from them, listen carefully, ask intelligently and inquisitively, and allow their experiences and knowledge speak and tell important stories. Really enjoying all of your videos - very well done and super important. Real life is happening before your eyes.
Once again you've introduced us to some special people who are living life on their terms. I'm totally obsessed with all things Alaska so I'm thrilled you are taking us into it and showing us different aspects of that beautiful state. Thank you as always for the amazing work you do.
I could not live like this, but I applaud people who can. There is always a trade off to live the way we want, but happiness is definitely a worthy cause.
Dang!! Rebecca & Peter nailed it about today's society... Peter said.. "I feel like today's society has gone back to 7th grade!". Then Rebecca said.."Which lunch table are you sitting at? And, there's only two!". They couldn't be more right!! That entire conversation was on point!! 25:08
I've rewatched most of your vids but there's something special about this one. I must have watched it half a dozen times now, at least. I find watching this one just, I dunno, healing - soothing. I can't find the words to accurately describe the feeling but it's beautiful.
Peter, I think it would be amazing if you would think about sharing the indigenous people of Hawaii (my people) and their plight. I watched your Crow segment and the cultural similarities are next level. Thank you for sharing these beautiful stories and life experiences of the people/places you visit❤️
Thanks for this Sammy Lee. Yes! My next big series will be about Hawaii. If you have any good story ideas please email me at: contact@petersantenello.com Thank you :)

As someone else best described what is going on on social media where people can’t express anything against clear wrongs like the grooming of children because of the “digital knife”that is constantly at their throats. Society is dumb and fucked and it will all implode at once. Best thing you can do is get away from it all.
Watching from the UK and absolutely chuffed to bits to have discovered your channel Peter. Loved this episode as Alaska is on my bucket list. I’m marvelling at the fortitude some people will endure to be surrounded by stunning nature and living off grid - I couldn’t do it but enjoying the armchair travelling all the same. Thank you for this 👏🏻😊🇬🇧
My husband was born and raised in Alaska, and his family has lived in Alaska for generations. His family remembers when Alaska wasn't even a state. Most of his family live super remote, you can only get to by plane or air boat, and live off the land. It is the most rural place I have ever seen. Great video!
Peter, spending a large chunk of my adult life in East New York, Brooklyn blocks from Pink Houses where you visited. Being first generation immigrant, been an activist and mentor for over a decade. I’ve seen and experienced many different types of people, enclaves, cultures, countries, religions, etc. and for some reason this Alaska series is in my top 3 places you’ve traveled. I’ve always been intrigued by Alaska and the people but the variation in the way of lifestyle in Alaska is such a dream of mine to experience. What brought everyone there, the communal feeling Alaska has that many other states lack is all so enjoyable to watch and hopefully 1 day I’ll get to experience.
I'm pretty sure that as a felon you can still take the Ferry, you just can't enter Canada at the ports. I've known a few folks that moved up that way after being turned away at the border on the road system.
@@justintempus7406 You can, I just looked into it! That’s awesome. Thank you, I was always under the assumption they still stopped at the border. But makes sense if they’re in open waters. Adding a cross country road trip including Alaska to the family bucket list for sure!
Great way to spend my morning before football games start. As always, I appreciate and value you, Peter. You're doing amazing work and opening my horizons and changing biases that I've had. Sending love from Northwest Arkansas.
20+ years ago I was at a bar in New Orleans. Was sitting next to an Alaskan homesteader that worked on an oil rig for a scientific project. I asked him his biggest piece of advice: during winter to bring the toilet seat back inside after using it. 😅
As a suburban dweller, it's refreshing to see the wide open spaces. I hear it brings you peace to a level you can't understand unless you're doing it. Thanks to the family for sharing their life.
He showed if in a bad environment, you can take control and create the life you want. Not what I would be happy with, but it seems to be exactly what they need and has given them purpose, which is the key to a beautiful life. His mom is a strong woman.
Im a city born, and raised, self proclaimed "City Boy". and after watching this, im so intrigued. not only as a new experience but as a challenge. and before anyone says anything i've already gone thru two alaskan winters. this looks like just a better life all around.
I love your channel, Pete. I have a real deep interest in the human story and what makes us tick, what separates us, what brings us together and mostly how people went from where they were to where they are. This video really hits on that last point and going from one extreme, Kensington to the complete other - off-grid, wilderness living in Alaska. Keep up the good work, Pete!
I don't know for some reason, I keep watching your videos, and waiting for the new one. It is an unbiased representation of the people. Keep up the good work.
Unbiased, no politics, no agenda and neutral positive journalism 👏 👍 I love your outlook and your message Peter and I wish the rest of humanity had your message of 'uplift not destroy' and even if you highlight a issue, it's not the actual message but more like 'humanity I've showed you this, spread the news and I bring it you" rather than shove it down people's throats. I cannot wait to see where you go next (or in my case where you've been, got to catch up from beginning to end with you brother 🙏🏿)
Well said. I feel the same as you Mohammad. Constant exposure to a divisive narrative is making people sick because it goes against the pure energy we were created with and that we all seek. The good news is everthing happens for a reason. To know joy we must know sorrow, light is only appreciated by having known darkness, etc.. to know what we want, we have to clearly know what we do not want. Contrast provides clarity. Much love and happiness
No politics?! Guys wife clearly mentioned Trump and how he’s not racist blah blah blah. If a person believes he’s not racist thats because that person my friend is an undercover racist. You can disagree with me but the videos of trumps shenanigans speak for themselves. I myself am not a fan of division, racism, hate, and other things but I also am not perfect, but that OK as all I want to fo is live MY life trying not to affect others in a negative way, and as we all know, that’s not easy.
These people are amazing. Living testaments to the resistance of what modern society is attempting to offer us. These people value freedom, they understand the importance of leading by example. God bless y’all from south.. stand your ground 🙏
So interesting to see their perspectives. The conversation around the dinner table was captivating. The Thrifters high totally get that! The satisfaction of reusing something for another purpose is awesome.
I lived in Kenai Alaska during the pandemic, and it was one of the most beautiful places ive lived. it was -25 with 40 mph winds the day that we arrived, and it was a hard year for covid and I headed back to Washington state after i went through a breakup, but I really want to go back because of the unadulterated beauty and pristine air quality. I've been all over this country, and Alaska and Montana are two of the last two places that still feel truly free.
Montana native here...will never leave. Lived in Seattle for 20 yrs when I was younger and when Seattle was nice. I moved back to Bozeman Mt. to take care of my folks and stayed. Met my husband in Bozeman. We moved out because to many weird people moving in. Now we're about 90 miles from Yellowstone and love it. The only thing I don't like is 8 months of winter. We had a beautiful Indian summer...that's what it is called here...then over 1 foot of snow in 1day. Take care.
@dagtyu Idaho is okay, but not as vast or free as Montana and Alaska. I've lived in Idaho as well. Also Idaho people tend to be up in your business more lol
Thanks for your uploads, I know it's hard work. But you never know how you touch your viewers lives just by showing how other people live theirs especially in locations and situations a regular person couldn't even fathom. True core of humanity shines through your videos. Thanks once again, Pete.
I loved these people,& how they have carved out a piece of heaven, in such a harsh environment. They appear to be very happy, productive, healthy,& skilled. I couldn’t do it myself, but totally admire their ability to do so. I really enjoyed this segment of the Alaska series Peter. Looking forward to the next adventure.💯❤️👍🏾😀🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
I just google earthed Kensington PA from the street, near the park and the number of young people on the street to see was heartbreaking. It is truly amazing to see this family break-away from that area and start a new life. I wish them every strength and happiness, what a lovely life they have carved out.
Man, I couldn’t agree more with this couple. I grew up in the punk/metal group. Literally 98% of my friends, ex-band mates are completely lost in everything they’ve been fed. These were some of the most interesting and intelligent people I knew. These days they seem so lost and incapable of independent thinking. Love these videos bud. I really appreciate them.
Sounds like you (and the peoople in this vid) chose the wrong friends. There is still so much good metal/punk out there. It's just harder to find and not mainstream. Give it long enough and the losers will leave, and the true metalheads will remain. Don't give up on the cause! \m/
Next time you should visit some Homer off grid folks that live here year round. Funny hearing them talk about ' well i guess we could haul water'.. lol that's what many of us do during winter! Kinda weird seeing you interview some snow birds but I could tell you were a bit disappointed when you found out too. If you haven't lived a winter up here you don't know what Alaska is. I grimaced when she said she didn't like the cold. There is a native word for someone who hasn't spent a winter up here.. Cheechako.. but otherwise thank you for visiting. Come visit with my family in our yurt sometime!
We left the city and spent 12 years off-grid in the rainforest. This is all very familiar. Interesting neighbors (from scientists to tweakers), fresh food (our kids used to eat directly from our plants; not even picking with their hands), no decent grocery store for miles, free thinkers who can agree to disagree, thriftin' at the dump, weird crime (someone down the road from us had their HOUSE stolen); all of it. 😂 We're in a town now, for various reasons, but I definitely miss a lot about this way of life, and we still talk about eventually going back to off-grid living.
Being 25 mins from Kensington this hits. We moved just *barely* outside of Philly to get away from the bulk of it. Still not far enough. There are zombies at every Philly intersection. At the on/off ramps to the bridges. It's like driving through a set on the Walking Dead. Happy for these guys. Always wanted to do something like this
We need updates on this family, they would definitely be successful on their own channel, platform. The lady tattoo artist is on another level of awsome, so is the family, awsome vid!!
24:35 - 25:00 was so amazing to watch. The father explains his reasoning as his son showed him rolling in the wild and picks a berry to eat as the father explains without the full knowledge of kid doing it behind him. So amazing.
Omg, this man is a legend. Escaping a drug&crime filled city to go remote with his family and builiding a suistainable life for them. Much respect & blessings to Tony and his family!
Well he escaped a drug and crime filled city to go to a drug and crime filled remote town 🙂 Trust me you don't worry about moose here, you worry about people.
your videos are blessing. United States is unfortunately very divided at this moment but your videos in my opinion could help to unite the country again. You are doing a great job Peter
To be honest, I have no idea, why UA-cam recommended this to me, but man, it is really interesting and caught me instantly. As I am from Austria, in the middle of Europe, i never had thoughts about Alaska... but your series is really awesome 👍🏻 keep it up, can't wait until the next video!
Wow. No matter what your main goal is in exploring these lifestyles, you're so smart in letting people derail you with their personal stories. You even encourage it with your questions. So refreshing to see this style of journalism.
As a now bohemian artist from the punk scene in 80s now 56 yr old Bay Area business owner and dweller. I SO RELATE to what this wise young lady is expressing. Since Covid I feel the world has changed. Fall in line or your the enemy. Thinking for yourself means your conservative/ left right paradigms forced further by mainstream media. I’m so happy for your family. I lost my brother to addiction as well. Bless this family and their brave move Lots of love ps - I’m also a Tattooer haha.
Thank you for your video, always love them! I love how you just go into each interview as an empty slate and let the people just talk or answer your questions. This family just seems so darn cool and down to earth! It would be fun just sitting and chilling with these people!
I love seeing people do better and move to a better place. I currently live in Philly. See the drugs everyday. One day I pray to get out like this. But the way the world is now its so hard. I'm a mom of 5 in a small apartment. But we make do until we can make better. This is just awesome. Thankyou for your videos
I absolutely love living in Alaska!! They remind me of my family and I when we first got here. Nine years later and I’m loving evry minute. Im just starting to document my journey and this video gave me some inspiration! Thanks!
❤ I just discovered your channel - freakin addicted to watching your videos. This just proves that quality content over an expensive studio set up is what's important . Literally walking around with a GoPro and making the most entertaining stuff this is what UA-cam is about . I'm literally feeling compassion for so many people in your videos and it's made my faith in us as humans grow. Not some spun media that's dividing us all - I see people in the hood and they have more passion than anyone I know. We are all truly brothers and sisters in Christ - I see my future family all over the world in these videos and looking to meeting them one day. So many great people out there.
I know some folks complain about the ads on UA-cam, but content like this is why I went with the premium. I can watch the way the creator wanted us to view without interruption. Heck, I don’t even watch tv anymore except for Formula 1. Blessings to you my brother.
What a fantastic video with wonderful people. Agreed so much with what the woman was saying, very thought provoking chat. I’m from New Zealand but have travelled to Alaska and loved it. Such a fascinating lifestyle.
I'm from Delaware and used to take the train to Kensington when I was in my addiction. And he or anybody can't describe in words how insane it is up there. It's literally like a war zone and a third world country it's insane! I am so excited for you and your family that you got out of there and get to look at such beautiful scenery everyday and be with each other everyday that's a far life from Kensington life and so proud and happy for you and yours! Congratulations and I wish and pray for nothing but wonderful things for you all!!!!
I agree the war is in your mind. I battled mine over thirty years ago and drugs mean nothing to me anymore. Moving away is simply pulling a geographic. As they I moved but I brought the ass hole addict with me. It’s not the location it’s us. We need to make the change. I hope your doing well and you are taking good care of yourself. Drugs have destroyed many of my childhood lives and they passed way to young. Sometimes it makes me sad they could not find the “ street car called straight” it was not in their plans. Take care
why do you people say things like "when i was in my addiction?" dude you were a drug addict by choice...addiction has nothing to do with it...why isnt EVERYONE addicted to drugs? because they choose not to take them and if you claim its not a choice then explain HOW YOU WERE ABLE TO STOP TAKING THE DRUGS?
I love seeing all the different people and places Peter travels to. I am a person who respects all ways of life. This is a great family who embraces a natural way of life! Great video! 👍

Tony is cool, laid-back, very family-orientated, hard worker... his mother is super loving, caring, & loyal u can tell.. & his wife is cool af, intelligent, tattoo artist, & the fam is against all bullshit...

However, she did often mention how bored they could get 😆
Notice the mom here, she was talking dudes ear off, and you could tell she hadn't spoke to a real person in a while 😂
Reading this warmed my heart, stay strong buddy
ive learned to embrace my Alaskan Native heritage. I love my fur on my parka my dad used to wear when he went dog sledding.
I just don't know if I could leave my family, I don't see them coming with me.
wow
saaaame😶
Actually, the bars in Homer are fun as fuck. Kharacter's stays open till 5am. I've played many a concert in Homer.
You got to do you, you're life is yours. If you wanna do it, just do it.
Same, I love it so much I subscribed. 💖 I'm in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦.
There are countless others who started up here like these guys.
He hits the nail on the head, you want freedom, do it yourself. It's up to you.
Once again you've introduced us to some special people who are living life on their terms. I'm totally obsessed with all things Alaska so I'm thrilled you are taking us into it and showing us different aspects of that beautiful state. Thank you as always for the amazing work you do.
"Living life on their terms" - true way to live a life
I'd love for you to check out the channel if you like funny skits and Alaska Adventuring!
I could not live like this, but I applaud people who can. There is always a trade off to live the way we want, but happiness is definitely a worthy cause.
This is why I wanna move to Alaska. This dude is very genuine and you can tell he cares about others.
🤣🤣🤣
We are missing the sense of community; so many here just don’t care about anyone but themselves. This is what a lot of us crave……..for sure.
I moved here in 2008 the first time (from very close to Kensington, actually heh). I'm biased, but I highly recommend it.

i feel the same
Peter, I think it would be amazing if you would think about sharing the indigenous people of Hawaii (my people) and their plight.
Ooooh I'd definitely watch it! The island culture fascinates me
Boy did THIS POST age well. Before the USorGlobalists sell off all the land... it might really be a good idea now!
It would be cool to see you come back in the winter and see how things are in contrast to the summer.
indeed- this is amazing- but the winter would be a nightmare
The family isn't there in winter
best way of living, being in the highest quality nature and eating the highest quality food you can imagine while not getting ripped apart from tech but also not letting it rule your life, it's just wonderful what you guys have accomplished
I love how clearly this couple is aware of the social engineering that is happening to the minds of many people now days.
Yep its wack. gotta think for urself in this shit show
As someone else best described what is going on on social media where people can’t express anything against clear wrongs like the grooming of children because of the “digital knife”that is constantly at their throats. Society is dumb and fucked and it will all implode at once. Best thing you can do is get away from it all.
Yeah and they finish each other's sentences. 😆
Yes, pure social engineering.
Oh yeah she is she subscribes to it totally fell in the trap,From the propaganda
Amazing video. Not only very professionally filmed, but also made with heart and soul
Thank you for this 👏🏻😊🇬🇧
Watching from Wales. This channel is my bedtime material.
Really loving this Alaskan series
Alaskan bargaining time !
Me too! I’ve lived here all my life and I find it SOOO fascinating!!
It's beautiful that city people can spend the summer at their cottage.
Haha! Exactly

Haha same here killing some time before football
You are a really special person. Thank you for showing us the world as it is.
I love these people, their mindset and their story they’re real people and inspire me to live a life like theirs it’s so cool
Thanks HipKat! I feel the same as you here.
I love how the cat 🐈 is sitting at the table with them when they are eating dinner
They have to eat too
So people do eat with their animals on the table wow that’s so different
I don't know for some reason, I keep watching your videos, and waiting for the new one. It is an unbiased representation of the people. Keep up the good work.
👍
Unbiased, no politics, no agenda and neutral positive journalism 👏 👍 I love your outlook and your message Peter and I wish the rest of humanity had your message of 'uplift not destroy' and even if you highlight a issue, it's not the actual message but more like 'humanity I've showed you this, spread the news and I bring it you" rather than shove it down people's throats. I cannot wait to see where you go next (or in my case where you've been, got to catch up from beginning to end with you brother 🙏🏿)
Thanks Mohammad! That's what I always aim for so I'm glad it's coming through.
You watched anything after the 24 minute mark? Unbiased, no politics lol...
Take care.
Yes but party of Wyoming are still free. Alaska and Wyoming are amazing places. we ultimately chose Wyoming to live.
How about Idaho?
@dagtyu Idaho is okay, but not as vast or free as Montana and Alaska. I've lived in Idaho as well.
Also Idaho people tend to be up in your business more lol
Thanks for your uploads, I know it's hard work. But you never know how you touch your viewers lives just by showing how other people live theirs especially in locations and situations a regular person couldn't even fathom. True core of humanity shines through your videos. Thanks once again, Pete.
Man I would love to connect with this guy, he’s so down to earth and reminds me of some dear friends I’ve lost.
Definitely an awesome family, great way to live out your Life!😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
I just google earthed Kensington PA from the street, near the park and the number of young people on the street to see was heartbreaking. It is truly amazing to see this family break-away from that area and start a new life. I wish them every strength and happiness, what a lovely life they have carved out.
Yep, it's a pretty bad scenario there.
This is pretty much the entire punk/goth/metal scene in Tampa. Everything Rebecca said from 25:50 onwards is 100% spot-on

We're in a town now, for various reasons, but I definitely miss a lot about this way of life, and we still talk about eventually going back to off-grid living.
You got me hooked with your tour of Whittier, Alaska. Pete, you have a skill for editing that draws a viewer on-and-on. This one, too, is brilliant. 😃
Always wanted to do something like this
Wow!!
My family lives out in bucks county and it’s creeping out there
21:20 - Colin & fam rolling in with a beautiful AK variant. Alaska rocks.
We need updates on this family, they would definitely be successful on their own channel, platform. The lady tattoo artist is on another level of awsome, so is the family, awsome vid!!
Tony just made me more humble. I wish nothing but amazing future and lots of love to his family.🙏
Thank you everyone for sharing.
Would love to see more of this off the grid kinda of content, and stories from places less traveled with this amazing beauty.
24:35 - 25:00 was so amazing to watch. The father explains his reasoning as his son showed him rolling in the wild and picks a berry to eat as the father explains without the full knowledge of kid doing it behind him. So amazing.
I live in upstate NY and my kids play like this. Just move to the country. Life is better.
Thank you. This brought back fond memories of the years that I spent off-grid in Alaska.
Omg, this man is a legend. Escaping a drug&crime filled city to go remote with his family and builiding a suistainable life for them. Much respect & blessings to Tony and his family!
That's the real American dream. There is still freedom to be found.
Well he escaped a drug and crime filled city to go to a drug and crime filled remote town 🙂 Trust me you don't worry about moose here, you worry about people.

The war zone is in your mind and the battle is for your soul
I'm glad you made it. This really shows that you can be from any family in the no matter how wonderful and fall into that.. his sister and cousin 🙏
Take care
why do you people say things like "when i was in my addiction?"
dude you were a drug addict by choice...addiction has nothing to do with it...why isnt EVERYONE addicted to drugs?
because they choose not to take them and if you claim its not a choice then explain HOW YOU WERE ABLE TO STOP TAKING THE DRUGS?
