A little over 17 years ago, I used this song as motivation to get off hard drugs & get into rehab & back into life again.
Things like this is a blessing that music can provide to some people.I'm currently fighting social anxiety that got severely worse since the pandemic started, but want to get beyond it now, and this is the first song I came to on my way to doing that ❤
K-os is a wizard. He sings, people turn their lives back around. Thats Power!
Congrats! I doubt one comment really matters but that is something unsung heroes do. I'm a strong believer in purpose and its nice to know your alive and still with us. hard drugs are the worst.. kinda curious what you have done with that time.
thank you @@ISTOLZURCAT I appreciate your comment, & a comment like this, does indeed matter to me. Thanks again.
That's right back into the man you can be. Great message
This song is ICONIC! Canadian childhood 💝
Canada is a beautiful country, grew up here an never left once. But it has it’s downsides. Lots of drugs an alcohol abuse, homelessness and violence, all these things happen more than people think sadly, still tho it’s a beautiful place to be an I wouldn’t have chose anywhere else to grow up
👏🏿👋🏿
@Sound Money because its boring
Agree.❤️👍🏿💯
90s babies too right?
Man I miss MuchMusic back in the day
me too bro
The feels
Me too. Muchmusic used to be so cool. Now it's just crap. They barely play music videos anymore. Wish they would restore it to it's former glory.
I miss nam.. can't spell her name but if ya remember the old school vjs you know what I mean.
Hell yeah bro 💯
Greatest Toronto hip hop artist of all time
Heaps of huge hip hop talent from Canada... DL incognito is amazing too....
Agree.❤️👍🏿💯
he really is.
Facts
Don’t forget the Maestro! Nostalgia from the late 80s.
I was a kid at the time so I’m adding bias. But K-OS is better. Smoother. Less rap-py
K-Os is so underated....
not really.
+ifitscool lol ok
So why in all honesty are you on a page for his music, seriously you need to give credit where its due
+Bang Man (pretty sure the comment is directed at my statement)
You ever heard of a one hit wonder? ...come on, use that brain.
Not saying all is crap, hence why I'm on THIS page.
one hit wonder? why does it matter if he has a hit at all. it is art, it is music it, all has its place and purpose, it all has merit. Do you make music yourself? To negative man, so you don't like some of his stuff, fine, then the ones you don't like are not meant for you, thats fine, but show a little fucking respect to the artist for his work, he has gone through far more than you could possibly imagine in order to share it with the world. if you don't like it then don't listen and move a long to those that have more hits. I don't care if he has had one hit. I don't care if he sells a single song, its music it has meaning, maybe not you but then maybe things you considering better would be meaningless to others. I see your name is ifitscool, I guess that it is it for you then, its gotta be cool or at least considered cool, its art, its all cool. Its only music, why ruin it for others with your negativity? who are you that you feel that you may call him a one hit wonder. What are you? what have you done to benefit humanity?
This needs a remaster. Criminally underrated.
Dude was ahead of his time; this would blow up nowadays.
Would it tho? There are gatekeepers in US music industry. They pretend we have no talent in Canada!
I lived in Canada during that time. Today i feel like Kendrick Lamar listened to all the k-os Albums.
Peace from Germany.
peace from canada
@@jessed9811 Peace!
It's insane that K-os isn't seen as a modern legend. His album Joyful Rebellion which this song is off of is absolutely fantastic, full of great lyricism, melodies and instrumentals. I bought the album on itunes and on CD, I can only hope the money went to this incredibly talented fellow.
Too much crack cocaine from what people I know who have had to admire from afar. 🤷🏼♀
he's schizophrenic, people say they care about mental health until they don't @@msbettyrocker
Who’s here 2020 & forever 🤞🏿💯
Underrated and was a hater as teen but miss these days
I used to listen to this album repeatedly late at night. It's so relevant.
Man this song is speaking to my soul right now
duuuuude, his new no bucks is fiiiire.
Toronto styles!
I'm sorry you were so slept on in the music industry
10 years later I'm still coming back. I love this song.
This song man. Didn’t get it back in the day. Now it’s all too real.
Good man. Great message. All the best k-os.
Cant beat it
Whos listening in 2020? Love this song and artist !K-OS!
2024 caught up with us baby!
This is legit my favourite hip hop song ever. The beat is perfection, the lyrics just speak to me. Love this track
true i got it on repeat snce i found it 3 days ago
Probably the most underrated song I know. If it were Gnarls Barkley, or Outkast it would have been on charts all over the world.
Dat real Toronto music back in da days still bumps music ain't the same no more😒
They say Drake was the first to do the singing and rapping all in one thing. K-OS had it perfected way back.
Who the hell says that lol?
Umm...Lauren Hill?
Toronto represent!
literally nobody says that
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
That choreography at 2:03 too dope. K-os mad nice with it.
Glitch in the Matrix 🙂
The choreography is by Victor Quijada
So ridiculously underrated.
This is one of the greatest tracks of all time
Man that dance routine with the dude in the suite and the bum. Don't see that kind of stuff often enough.
damn K-os is so lyrical one of the most underrated mc's ever. He's in my top ten
I shadowbox to this , first round fist
I’m fighting through my tears, fifty five years, Thank you mr. K OS,
There’s still beauty in my fears
how come theres so many french comment
k-os makes me proud of being canadian
It's because of Québec, cher voisin!
This song should have at least millions of views, one of the best hip hop song that came that year
pascal CLOUATRE A lot of French people live in Canada fam.
a rapper who actually thought out his rap name. #KnowledgeOfSelf
J.M True , however he’s from Toronto an English speaking city, and performed in English.
I live in Quebec and as a kid this song would play on the radio like, everytime. Just 'cause we speak french doesn't mean we only enjoy french things!!!! We love K-os anyway, we're canadian too ya know loL!
Who else knew that this music video was entirely shot and filmed in Toronto Ontario Canada 💯 #wethenorth
This video was filmed at the Hotel Waverly in Toronto. The Waverly is a proper shit hole. I lived there for 2 months. I couldn't sleep while I was there because the mice made so much noise as they scurried all around my room. Good Times. Go to school kids so you never have to live in a dump like the Waverly.
I worked near that place for a while, you see hookers bringing guys in there. Pure classy place. lol I hear back in the day it used to be decent. Probably 100 years ago.
David Beecraft Comfortzone :)
The Comfortzone is a fucked up place.
David Beecraft lol yup seen hella crackheads go through there
Is it near the old el momocamba
I miss these art music videos.
And "they" make Drake take the glory like a snake, when real rappers be helping all our mind states, can't catch a break cause we decide to not be fake, instead gotta plan our great escape. K-OS inspired me to rap outta Toronto, Drake, discouraged us new comers.
I am from Toronto and DRAKE the Dracula is GARBAGE
Its from a time when music still had soul in it.... The music has feeling...
Exactly😞👌🏼
Yes
This aged so well sadly
Anyone 2024?…
You better still be here!
Damn right! *Sigh* Better days...
June 23, 2024 ❤🙏🇨🇦
Ya sirrr!!!
💯
This is still iconic, all of the albums. You won't hear anything this good now.
We all have a version of our selves we wish we could have preserved.
Wow...K-os had so much potential...I feel sad that he was not as big as he could have been.
+Bobby Parv last album is very decent, this song is unreal if you ask me. I respect the guy!
+Bobby Parv problem is music like this doesn't hit the mainstream anymore, just what the people demand
+Bobby Parv At a music conference they used him as an example. In the height of his hype they wanted to put his song in an Apple commercial but he declined because of 'artistic integrity' (aka: not selling out). After arguments about earning $ (a necessary evil), the music industry essentially dropped him since he wouldn't play ball. His USA distribution and promo, record label, etc all ditched him.
I just saw his new single, out for 1 month now - only has 5k hits. Ouch.
+marpole8 Habs fan here
+Bobby Parv I think he did... If he got big i don't think it would be from making good music, that never happens anymore.
Such an underrated song. k-os needs more recognition!
Kevin you rock it! You’re my go to music when I’m struggling with depression. Sending you positive vibes from Guelph 🇨🇦
wow what a disappointing amount of views ... sad for such an amazing song
about a thousand of them are mine :(
Dude i know
forgive them they no not what they do
just opened the song in youtube to write the exact same comment
Elementary school vibes , K-OS deserved way more recognition 💯 #legend
Facts
Some of the best and memorable lyricsim I've heard from hip hip in years of listening criminally underrated such low views for what it is
Met K-os. Super down to earth guy. Love his music!
K.O.S. All day. this takes me back. Kevins Orignal Sound. Toronto rap at its finest.
Such a Great song. Wish there was more of this kind of Canadian Music out there. A true Artist indeed.
Those checkered floors though...
Back in or around 2004 or 5, I saw k-os performing as the DJ for an intimate private party, hosted by a radio station, I believe. He looked like his soul had been taken from him.
My man k-os, I hope you are back to the man you used to be. Your lyrics said it all...
Joyful Rebellion was one of the only CDs i actually owned and bought. I miss good music.
Growth is not achieved without resistance ...
Gratitude for the lessons that I've been blessed ...
Forever the best Canadian artist 🔥
2021 & this song lives on ✊🏾
Please people don't let this be forgotten, truly this song reminds me of a moment of pure bliss.
Such powerful visuals. This is a production team who respect their work.
Pretty sure this is one of my favorite music videos of all time. Very well done for its time and still holds strong.
Timeless song. K-os a legend
I like the small nudges at the themes here and there throughout the video.
It tells the story of how sometimes you can’t escape the image certain societies perceive you as. So don’t try to be something you’re not: you’ll lose everything and wish you were just real with yourself the first time.
sudden craving for this song :D
yep
Happens every year or so.
I was so excited to finally see K-Os last year. He's amazing such an amazing performer, lyrical poet.
His music is EVERYTHING, this song is classic. Incredible music~
The nostalgia this song gives me is crazy, simpler times man

I had 10 CDs when I was young. One was his. Awesome 🤟

WOW. Love you K-Os. Timeless. Soulful.
I grew up to this song and others. I can't believe I'm only coming across these videos now. Crabbuckit was the only one I saw on T.V and a few others I heard on the radio. We need to spread this like fire especially for what's happening in Canada right now...
He's a legend in my eyes
Hes doinn some concerts in eastern and central canada this summer!
ma oasis for real music. timeless music. word to brotha KOS.
I absolutely love this song. It's been so long, but I still come back to listen to it pretty often.
the fact that k-os is a graduate from my high school makes me so proud to go to my school, like if someone ever tries to diss us, we can just be like 'yeah but did k-os go to your school or nahh'
Anderson?
Deadmau5 went to my school so i win.
Niko Bellic my brother is friends with deadmau5. Checkmate!
Anthony Gilbert yeah right... thats sick LOL
Jill Weber what high school ?
This deserves atleast 100 million views
I think this is my favorite song of yours K-OS.
The really thick cymbals/high hats, deep snare, and the lyrics with the tones of the song. It's such a well done track.
This song not only has an amazing beat, but a universal message and outstanding lyrics. Masterpiece, his best song.
one of my childhood tunes, thank you vincent :)
+Coit nostalgia, this does take me back as well, i wish my memories didn't seem so distant :'(
Being an adult now this song brings me back to when I was a child hearing this on the radio and possibly commercials.Miss the early 2000s.
It Used To Be The Early 2000s on Much Music And Now All They Show Is Reruns of The Simpsons And South Park And The Same Shit Over And Over Again.
@@kevinheatcoat2190 Yeah think it was the top 100s that would be on every morning at summer and around the afternoon on weekends. Those were great.
@@popo0129 It's Really Sad That They Don't Play Music Videos on Much Music Anymore.
Honestly, no words are needed to describe this song other than beautiful.
K-Os is the Canadian hip hop poet....been listening to his music since the early 1990s....if you can't feel his lyrics, then you're not feeling Canadian hip hop at its truest....the same.e works out for any othe Canadian music genre
classics 2019 anyone?
He's got this very "face of Rhymesayers" / "Andre 3000+Micheal Jackson" vibe to him.
When I clicked this in my suggested videos I was on the crawl for something very different but I'm glad I heard him.
I'm interested to hear what else he's capable of as an artist.
D0PAMiiNE Knowledge Of Self
My soul burns
Since 2006 to 2020! real music bro!
Listening to the album joyful rebellion in 2020. Damn how underrated. Thank you K-OS for the music.
Who rediscovered this gem? It’s been too long.
Because of The Waverley site having a fire. Sad the musical venues get demolished for more glass condos.
merci tampax merci sodebo merci canard wc merci peugeot et bmw vous nous avez fait découvrir de super musique
K-os is a young mans lyrical mentor about life with his music, thank you
Why was this artist so under rated? So much talent
holy shit this is one good song, forever in my top 15
big tune
Some of the most profound and relatable lyrics i know. Thank you k os
Still a great song by a visionary artist! What a dynamic guy!
If this song doesn't make you want to be a better human....you're hopeless
CLASSiC DOPE K-OS

He was ahead of his time
honored to be one of the 19 commenters on this jesus song
This song to me sums up my relationship with myself and weed.Smoking it makes reality feel like a dream, and ive felt like this for over a year now. When I quit i am fine, time to move on. (I Just wanna get back to me,back into the man I used to be)
deep comment and I feel u 100%
hectic.. been a decade over here.. deep comment for real
I hate weed lol
this song will be timeless. always.
Just saw him perform this tonight in Kamloops. Nostalgia overload.
I tried to be CANADIAN, but CANADA wouldn't let me, all CANADA saw was a Native, so this is me getting back to me.
The resonates hard, I just want to get to the person I was. I didn't care bout relationships, about anything really. I just wanted to workout, meditate and progress in every way I could. Now though I got myself all caught up in this "normal" life, stuck on this girl from a relationship I fucked up. I just wanna get back to me, to the man I was before, it was so peaceful.
k-os wooed me some ten years ago when he performed at the Juno's! Luved, luved, luved him. TALENT...
Classic song! He lives in Vancouver now and is always hanging around the local bars and stuff haha.
J'ai connu grâce à la pub BMW, superbe musique très heureux.
