- Hey guys, I've been asked to model a bike, so I decided to make a 3d modeling series about that. In this video I show you how you can make a very hard tyre 3d model.
In the next video, i'll make the interior of the wheel.

do smart work rather than hard work
i am currently working for amazon 3d models and my mentor give me some tips i think you should follow
use modifiers effectively (you apply too much subdiv from the start, make model low poly as possible)
4:20 you can use inset offset for protective edge loop just fill inside face and then inset face ( I + O = o means offset)
for making tyre you just need a plane with pattern made on it and three modifiers 1 lattice 2 array 3 curve thats it and best part is its editable
25:48 use merge by distance with affect only selected

What's the difference between inset offset and extrude along normals? Or using extrude +alt+s during and flatten? Or in this case everything will do?

While extrude along normal is opposite of inset offset 👍🏻

Nice job of tying the boolean in! My 1st motorcycle tire I finished last night I didn't subdivide initially and built this complex tread pattern on a plane, mirrored it to the other side but built an all quad mesh with control loops and knife tool. The problem I had was the vertices didn't line up end to end when it came time to merge the array. So rather than start over I extruded over one line on each end and then lined up each of the vertices with s x y 0 and sx z and zero one by one.. Took a bit but I saved it.
Might try it your way next time. So far boolean's have been a disaster for me.
Yeah tire patterns are pretty hard to make! I already tried to strart with a flat plane but I didn't like it.

If I add extra edge on the boolean cutter i think I have to add same edge in the other side too right and if I add extra edge it will endup in deformation

It's great to stick with the default options in Blender for this series, avoiding any use of paid addons or plugins.
How do you open the thing to edit vertices and other things for cylinder??

the only thing which gone bouncer is you are adding shring wrap modifier but i dont know to what when you are amoothing vertices and adding shrink wrap i didnt understand that adding shrink wrap to what? though i am seeing there are two slenders in outliner the second one is a copy if you are using that copy slender to adding shrink wrap then please demonstrate how please i need to know otherwise the rest entire video i am enjoying very much

Hey man ! Thanks for the comment. My latest video explains it better! The timestamp is 8:00. You have to add the shrinkwrap modifier on the deformed mesh, and the target is the duplicated mesh that was the good curvature. Let me know if you don't understand 🙂
@@ThomasColin3D first thank you for respond but still didn't get even after watching the latest video of yours, i dont know when you applied shrinkwrap to dublicate cause that dublicate was hided and you never unhide it, its confusing for that reason also. i am sorry if i m not making any sense
what do you think about ImageModeler? Some people like it for extra precision when modeling cars or whatever but I think it is kinda harmful because you are relying way too much on locators and thus skipping development of observatory skills/guesstimation while modelling. I have never tried it in practice but I would imagine it could be handy when you dont have decent blueprints or none at all, like car interiors and front panels or smth?
I have never heard of ImageModeler, is it an addon ? or a software ?
@@ThomasColin3D It is very outdated plugin from Autodesk, works similarly as Fspy but is basically hundreds times more precise but also requires lots of preparatory work to match the perspective of given image. Basically you take few images of same object from different angles and on individual photos add so called locators to match the perspective perfectly from all angles/images. ua-cam.com/video/s7Qvdc0d58I/v-deo.html this video would be better to understand how it functions.
well difference between precise image modeling and normal image guessing modling is that imageModeler is a substitute for blueprint thats it and model based on guess look quite good but if you look side by side model looks odd in terms of size and proportion

Spending most of the time fixing the topo seems like not a productive way of modelling. Blender need to find better solution on topology-sensitive modelling. I love blender, just wishing i can be more productive in this fast moving era.
