    I have a problem with Edifier R1855DB Sub Out volume. It might be a common issue, since some people reported the same problem on reddit:
    / edifier_r1855db_t5_sub...
    www.reddit.com/r/BudgetAudiop...
    UPDATE:
    Since Edifier didn't confirm that this is a manufacturing issue, not a design flaw, I returned both R1855DB speakers and T5 subwoofer. It might be incidental but I didn't want to risk it.

    I have the 1850db. I had a setup with a creative labs X3 with dedicated sub out and everything was working smoothly. I switched to a Loxjie D30 DAC and had to use the sub out from the edifiers : same issue as yours! I guess I will use your routing trick. Thanks!

    I bit the bullet and bought it anyway. The sub out signal has still enough power for my small apartment room, but I would'nt believe it's powerful enough for a living room, let alone a home cinema. I've got my volume set at 12'o clock
    Once I switch the input it can get very loud, as like in the video

    This problem has been tormenting me for a very long time, I have almost the same bunch of R1850DB + T5 and I wanted to use my TV through SPDIF, but the sub out is absolutely useless, the subwoofer practically does not work, but if you send a signal to the subwoofer, and from it to the speakers, then everything is fine, I might have calmed down and left this connection option, but I want to use the digital output. Are there any ideas how this can be solved and is it possible at all

    Did you try adjusting bass knob to max from r1855db speaker itself while connected from sub out ?

    • @burnsnewman
      @burnsnewman  11 місяців тому +1

      As far as I remember that knob only changed bass volume on the speakers themselves, but not on external subwoofer. I've returned the speakers, so can't confirm it any more.

    After watching this video I was scared to purchase T5 SUB FOR MY EDIFIER 1855DB. However, after lots of research I finally purchased the T5. And honestly telling you what explosive sound outcome with EDIFIER T5 AND EDIFIER 1855DB with subout cable. The heart and mind will vibrate on the bass and the rhythm of music.

I wonder is the problem source come from the 3.5mm to rca cable that came with edifier speaker or you just lucky to get a perfectly fine sub out. If you dont mind, I wish you can help me try out your speaker with the cable came from the box so I can decide to purchase a new cable. Thanks man

    One last question, do you know if this problem only occurs when connecting the R1855DB with the T5!? connecting it optically. Or see if connecting it to the R2000DB works without problem

    • @burnsnewman
      @burnsnewman  7 місяців тому +1

      I only tried connecting T5 sub with R1855DB speakers. I didn't try optical connection, only RCA and bluetooth. Same problem with both connections, on 2 different computers (RCA) and a phone (bluetooth). I already returned both sub and speakers, so can't test it with anything else.

    Im using r1855db and t5 sub. Its worked. I think yours is broken, have you tried reaching edifier? But my only problem is when i turn off the r1855db my t5 sub making loud "boom" sound ( t5 conected to r1855db via sub out)

    • @ri4n_Gkz
      @ri4n_Gkz 6 місяців тому +2

      To avoid that boom sound, you need to turn off the T5 speaker first before the r1855db, otherwise in a long term it can damage your T5.
      That’s the basic principle just like you need to turn the speaker first before the mixer, otherwise all the speakers that connected to that mixer will have that boom sound.

    Did you tried to:
    a. Adjust the "Phase selection", on the subwoofer's back?
    b. Follow the instructions on the subwoofer's manual, to adjust volume?
    I think a. "Phase selection" is to blame here.

      @burnsnewman  10 місяців тому

      T5 is the recommended sub for these speakers (by Edifier). Maybe your unit will not be affected. I'd buy the subwoofer right away and if there's a problem - return it. I don't know where are you from and how did you buy it, but here in EU you can return stuff bought over internet in 2 weeks, without providing a reason. I actually returned mine after few months and they still accepted the return. If you do that, let me know the outcome. Maybe you'll be lucky and it will work fine right away.
