    Bob and Brad discuss the best treatment for spondylolisthesis.
    Some of our astute followers have noticed me slurring my words. I am not drunk but working with Brad it would be justifiable. I had 6 infected cysts removed from my mouth (noncancerous) and I have residual scar tissue and numbness. I will try to do better. Thanks Bob

    I was diagnosed with spondy 5 years ago when I was 61. The Dr. recommended surgery. I said nope…found your channel several years ago and started these exercises plus walking every day. I’m now 66 and have taken up jogging and I have my first 5k coming up next Sunday. In my case these exercises have worked and I’m about 97% pain free. Added benefit of losing 16 pounds and my BP is back to normal with no medication.
    Thank you Bob and Brad for your time and effort to put these videos out.

    Another mattress that helps relieve the pain from spondi is the purple mattress. Your videos saved me from electing to get surgery. I know there are times when you must have surgery. Physical therapy took many months but it works. I thank God every day that I didn’t rush to make a decision and that I made the choice to do PT first.

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Could you make a “real time” video that we can workout along with you? I find it far to boring to just lay down and do repetitions, so I end up just not doing them at all. I find it much easier to follow along with someone for the entire workout. PLEASE think about it. I think it would help a lot of people. You have my (and many others) sincere gratitude for all that you do. I’m a nurse and I recommend your channel to all of my patients. Keep up the good work!

      I was dx about 5 years ago and was really depressed for about a year due to my activities coming to almost a hault. I did a 3 month 3 days a week PT which helped a bit but what really helped was Naprosyn (anti- inflammatory) I took 2 a day for 3 months to get inflammation down . Which in turn allows me to walk & do exercises without pain. PT also gave me what I call Ninja Turtle brace (metal plate in back area) which has draw strings that cinch up like a corset which stabilizes if my back goes out. Another thing I discovered was laying on my back & lifting my small grandkids up on my feet over my mid body. It seems to put my back bones back in place (idk)
      Don't lift weight while bending forward- it really messes me up. Good luck 😊

    I had surgery done to correct a 35degree Scolliosis. I was also diagnosed with Spondylolisthesis and had a dagnosis of Worn Disk Disease in my neck and low back. So with my Scollliosis surgery I also had a cage put into my neck and low back. I had been diagnosed with Bone Degenerative Disease from the Encephalitis I went through in 1988 (the doctors told my husband of 2 years to get ready for my death.) I'm still here and go to physical therapy from time to time when my body desides to lock up in my pelvis or my right short leg gets a mind of its own. The human body can really teach us a thing or two. Thank you for your videos.

    Thank you so much for the demonstrations, Brad and Bob. A big thing, I think, is getting over the fear of thinking you’re doing something wrong (in exercising) and scared you’re making your condition worse.
    I have one question for you, Brad, re Spondylolisthesis. I find my legs occasionally feel like they are “vibrating” or ‘trembling’ deep inside. It isn’t painful but the legs feel sort of numb but definitely trembling internally. Is that due to nerve compression? I also find I’ve lost flexibility. I used to be able to stretch the hamstrings fairly well - considering my age - but since “Spondy” arrived, I no longer can stretch well.

    • @vallee3140
      @vallee3140 2 роки тому +2

      I also get those vibratory sensations deep in my leg. I have grade 1 spondy, but i didnt know it until after I herniated a disk in T7 that caused horrible symptoms which led to an MRI. I'm not sure which one is causing those sensations down the leg now; I assumed it was the T7 herniation since I never had symptoms of spondy before, but now I dont know since youre having similar vibratory sensations :( So i'm also curious if thats indicative of spondy compressing the nerve

    • @elaineculbert8594
      @elaineculbert8594 2 роки тому

      @@vanillaface9225 - Well, even though I’d never wish back troubles on anyone, I’m glad someone else knows of this weird “vibration” in the legs! Re your T7 problem, I wouldn’t think anything wrong in the Thoracic area would result in that sensation in the legs but then again, I’m not a physiotherapist or physician! Have you had a recent MRI of both the Thoracic and Lumbar areas? I truly wish you better years ahead!

      I started at 10 to 15 reps and did them Monday, Wednsday, Fraday. I did other exercise other days that did not irritate my back , for instance I am an advid swimmer and biking is good for less than 45 minutes. Only once per day. The ball is for begginners but some people are intemidated by it for good reason. But if you take your time with it, after a few weeks it will become comfortable. Everyone is a little different on exercise details. Because the ball is wabbley it forces your back and core muscles to work without thinking about it. It is my primary core exercise tool. Great for balance as well. I wish you well. Brad

    My spondylolisthesis got so bad I had to have L4 pulled back into alignment with L5. I now have a plate with 4 screws in my back. The worse part was that my spinal cord was being pinched by the shift of these two vertebrae. I lost feeling from my waist down. I also have a severe S curve to my lower spine. The upper part is straight down to L4. My balance is affect by all this. Since the fusion I have not been able to get any of my back adjusted by a Chiropractor. Most of my life I have depended on adjustments to help me be able to walk. Now since the surgery I have had to use a walker to help me keep my balance and still be able to walk. The whole point of this post is to thank you and all of the Chiropractors over the years that had helped me to be relatively pain free and walk independently for most of my adult life. I wish there would have been a better solution to my situation but there was no choice at the time to keep me from being a paraplegic.

    As an avid weightlifter with decent muscle. Can I get back to weightlifting and CrossFit after being diagnosed with spondylolisthesis grade 1? Can it be made worse with weightlifting?

    hi you two, I am sitting here in absolute agony, once again been up most of the night. could you please tell me something.
    I was getting out of a 4x4 when my legs gave way ,and I landed on both knees.
    Since then have had the most excrutiating pain, starting with the worst form of sciatica , which I was told was Piriformis, Doc finally agreed to do a Pelvis X-Ray, of which I am waiting for results.
    But this pain gets worse and worse, and I have noticed my whole spine hurts, do you think its worth me going to a Neurologist.
    Be very very grateful if you could advise me, as it would mean going private and we aint rich.
    I have been doing your exercises, for lower back pain and sciatica, bu nothings working.

      We are very sorry to hear this. We would have to suggest you consult your physician and if he/she requests a neurologist, then you should see one, yes.

    I just ordered the workout bands to do this treatment for my spondy. How do I know what strength band to use? I pulled the muscles on my right side using a red band I got from pt a few years ago, I sure dont want to do that again, that was so painful. The band tore as well so getting one with handles and the door anchor.

    Hello guys, I have a question regarding a strange pain I feel when I stretch my left leg...everytime I touch with my hand near the illiotibial band / hamstrings tendon more specifically biceps femoris tendon (just on the knee joint) while I'm stretching for instance “hamstring 90/90“ I feel like my tendon is BURNING, that doesn't happen on my right leg, and just happens when my hand is making contact. Could you guys please help up with some information? Thanks you in advance. :)

    one of the big take-aways I get from Bob and Brad is their weight-Ive neen diagnosed with a variety of back issues AS and osteoarthritis disk issues stenosis tranverse myeltis(spelling?)-as Ive lost weight and eat less my pains have certainly decreased-the less I eat the better I feel-gotta "stay hungry" has new meaning for me-a person can use all of Bob and Brad's teachings but if they are too overweight the teachings wont matter much IMO
