Good, but you're right it's more habit than necessity. Unlike other plumbing situations, the refrigerant seal is maintained by the O-Rings and not the threads. I just figure it'll be easier to get off when I eventually replace it again in 15 years :)
So what is that part with the green tape on and can it be repaired or must it be replaced, I believe I have a leak on there, o could see it when I spray soapy water on it.
I realized that my evaporator housing was missing the insulator foam, so I ordered a new one off Ebay. I'll make another video of the full reinstallation of the evaporator and housing.
Gotta take it to an AC shop. Just a straight evacuation should be under $100. Then you're free to run wild doing whatever you need to do on the AC system.
Appreciate the quick, straight forward video
This video assumes you have already evacuated the refrigerant from the AC system.
You're the first that I've seen to use Teflon tape on the evaporator fittings. How is that holding up so far?

Part with the green tape is the evaporator. If it has a leak you'll need to get a new one.
Umm i need to replace mine as well.. you in nova area? Is yours r12?
I have a system designed for R12 but fittings converted to 134a. I'm a few hours south of NOVA

How did you evaculate?

Taking off the evaporator affect it bring charged??
Yes you need to empty the system first
Try that on a 2019 mini van 😂🥴
Yea everything in the past decade is like a big computer on wheels. Probably impossible.
