I remember when the mimics came out expressing disappointment that they only copied items and not player characters, and then boom they drop these guys! My only note is I wish they actually kept your inventory when you’re killed by one. Imagine how uniquely difficult and fun it would be to 1v1 yourself with the weapons and armor you had on when you died

damn, I played that new update for like last 2 hours and I didn't know new content was added. Before I started to play I checked the klei forum post, got the skins, but thought it was just a "yeah, we turned halloween nights event for everyone, nothing new" just like it usually is. For the past 2 hours I didn't have plans on going to the caves and apparently... bunnymen were updated? I had no idea

Honestly I really like how the recent shorts have been giving Charlie more characterization, it’s starting to seem like she’s much more sympathetic than most people thought, obviously she has a sympathetic backstory but ever since she fused completely with her darker half she’s been portrayed as pretty unambiguously bad until recently
I'm assuming that whoever the shadowy figure is, either Metheus or Cyclum or some new shadow entirely, they're working for the shadows, not against them, and are trying to use Charlie for their objective, and don't want anybody to know they're involved considering they immediately fled when Chester interrupted them. I also imagine that the "Pall" the Masques mention may actually be Dark Tatters, and that the Masques and the Ink Blights come from the same realm and were granted power and safety by Dark Tatters. Wortox calls them "bits of tattered reality", so its possible they have some interdimensional power to them like the shadow eye does. it would also explain why they look so much more "complete" then other shadow monsters, they're not traditional Constant shadows at all, instead being creatures given power by the blessing of the night.
Well if Charle is talking to what we can assume is Cyclum it would make sense it might explain how she got the torch. Either that or she asking about the torch and how it has other uses ( example: using it to see Alter’s eye). It also I just thought; it makes sense that the torch would use lunar magic/ energy to create light since Cyclum did use it to fight off the shadows. It is proven that in the archives that the ancients did worship (or have had something to do with) the moon/ Alter
Maybe methods possessed Charlie from the start of if the story . If I remember correctly shadows resemble someone else in someone’s body and we already know that Charlie had two sides that eventually merged so ….ya (it also kinda connects why the mask thing is happening ya know we get a update and the lore relates to it in some way)
Metheus and Cyclum and Charlie and ol Maxwell have so many parallels and the more we learn the more new ones show up. Also, "Tenebrau" seems sensible as Their name. Also also, the stage play is sooooo interesting. The fact They might see themselves as a benevolent saviour destroing evil gods is really cool. Perhaps They came to the constant specifically to screw with Alter? Or are They lying and actually just an evil conquerer, in search of worlds to consume?
I have a different theory, that ghe shadows might be the "good" guys all along. "We come from different universes with their own accursed gods" sounds like much like us with alter, and the gorge with thw gnaw, there are many different realms with gods that corrupt stuff and are a treat to gheir inhabitants, and maybe the shadows give them a better alternative, shed their skin , release their physical forms, becoming shadows and joining their multidimensional hive mind. Is not ideal but is probably best for most of them
I've always assumed the eye was named Torpor. The shadows are highly associated with nightmares, performance, and endlessness constancy, and the heart of the depths as seen through the Ancient Gateway seems very drowsy in the animation it appeared in. Maybe it's dreaming. But Tenebrau is a very interesting name as well.

I wasn't sure before what was the big difference between lunar and and shadow sides, but now i think we have a "Slay the Princess" situation on our hands with Alter representing change, and Tenebrae - the long quiet. In other words, the outcome is bad no matter which you choose, although personally i am heavily inclined to choose change over bein stuck as a mere echo of yourself for all eternity.

Since the structure Tenebrau seems to reside in is called an "Ancient Gateway", I think it's safe to assume that it was used by the Ancients to bring Tenebrau and his shadows from another world and trap it with the gateway. What I'm curious of is if this means that of the two ancients (with the cane and torch) maybe one is affiliated with Alter, and the other to Tenebrau?
It seems like the possibility of a good guy doing seemingly bad things with a greater goal of greater good. Charlie is re-building the portal to send the shadows back to their own world. Metheus being the seeker of light would likely want them to be banished and either return the balance of Light and Darkness, or make Altar the deity that controls the Constant. Maybe she told Charlie that the portal could return the survivors, too, with her help of course. On the other side of the story, I think Wagstaff who a lot of people seem to associate with Altar might later be seeking the powers of the darkness to harvest for his creations. Ever since his reveal in Hamlet Wagstaff was fascinated by the power of nightmare fuel. And it seems he already harvested... something from the Celestial Champion. And I think he will find out that whatever that power is the shadow side of things can provide greater results. But either way, I really appreciate Klei still doing cool stuff like this! Long live Klei.
Lumin is a pretty large plot maguffin in Griftlands, which Klei also made. The lost glove, binoculars and snail scale trinkets are more direct references.

Since the fuelweaver grabbed charlie and pulled her into the constant and she seems to have no power over him i think the same can be said for cyclum (if charlie had control of him why wait for us to defeat him to repair the gate?) also fuelweaver surely must have known that cyclum wasnt gone right?

I was under the impression cyclum was the name of the torch bearer, and metheus was the king with the cane, no? Genuinely curious as I thought the names of the two characters were inferred from the names of their respective puzzles, the puzzle that gives you the torch skin being called the cyclum puzzle and the cane puzzle being called the metheus puzzle. Please correct me if I am mistaken, I am only commenting out of curiosity and if you see this comment Bams, I absolutely love your vids!
No you're good! I honestly thought the same too, but after speaking with my discord, I came to an important conclusion: The cane bearer was the one that raised the fuelweaver, and was able to somehow possess it after his death in an act of defiance against the shadows, which is why he wishes to destroy the gateway, and mentions doing it for Metheus. As well as that, has lines mentioning their world, their city in tatters, as if he owned it. ofc, nothing is 100% confirmed, but I belive that theory heavily now. (I was working on an ancients lore video, and mentioned the exact reasons you stated!)
