  • These are the main steps in preparing the site for an above-ground pool, along with how the pool comes together in time-lapse. The majority of the work is in the site prep. Having a laser level is important with a large pool like this one. If it’s anything more than 1-2” off, you will need to rent a skid steer or other equipment for moving the excess dirt. Actual site prep work was several times more than I anticipated.
Most importantly the footings for the legs should be level with each other. If the middle of the pool has some variation it doesn’t matter as much. Also, the footings should be at the level of the ground, not sitting 1.5” above the ground as it shows in my video.
The laser level is best seen in the evening, so plan on using some evenings to help check the site. Thank You Guys For Watching Like and Subscribe ✌️

Does having your 2x12” at level ground causing the supports to be 1.5” higher than the base of the pool cause any issues ?

Someone told me that we don't need to remove the grass on our very level sight. Here in Iowa there's no stones to worry about they said just put sand down. Also we have a ground liner do you put that on the ground or and put sand on top of it or put sand down then the liner then the pool?

That was the same thought I had they wasted a lot of time doing all this digging up instead they should have brought about twenty yards of rock dust and sand and built it up instead of tearing it down because now where their pool is placed it is sitting in a hole where a ton of water is going to accumulate instead of flowing away from it.

Is it ok to just set your foundation blocks at the same level or did you have to dig out until they were level??

They are anti fatigue mats from Harbor freight it gives extra protection and makes walking in the pool smoother.

@@thevalenzone8705 how many pads did u need... just got the same size pool.

@@jamesdhesi3097 According to harbor freight, each pad is about 25" x 25", so about 2 feet square. If pool is 16 x 32, then we need 8 pads wide, by 16 pads length. That makes 128 pads. They come in packs of 4 pads. The pads do make a difference in how it feels when you walk on the pool bottom. The tarp placed on the ground is OK, but the outer edges over time degrade in the sun's UV rays and breaks apart. Did you get your pool set up yet? Its a really big one, good size for swimming laps

@@thevalenzone8705How are the mats holding up? I’m getting ready to refill mine, but have to take a few rocks from underneath first and want extra protection.

the 16 x 32 is around $2500. At the time of the pandemic summer of 2020, they were all sold out and ebay and Amazon had sellers trying to get $3000-4000. Hopefully you can get it at the regular retail price.
