    Thanks for this one, it's saved me a whole heap of trouble with my current S3 restoration as a previous owner had obviously had trouble getting the plastic strip retaining screws to stay in place because the heads were in such a bad state that they'd recessed them further and then put body filler over the top. So what with that and several layers of paint it was at first sight a complete mystery as to how the hubs could be removed.

      Crikey! That sounds like a mess to deal with. Glad to be of help!

    The felt seal in the kit. Where does that go in the assembly?

    • @restosaga
      @restosaga  2 роки тому +1

      The felt seal isn’t needed for the later (24 spline) front hubs but is for the early (10 spline) hubs, behind the castellated nut from memory

      @@restosaga I have the 10 spline unit. The seal was easy to install. Thank you.

    Great video - thanks for your help. Any alternative to the slotted nut socket?!

    • @restosaga
      @restosaga  3 роки тому +1

      Glad you found it useful! I actually jammed two allen keys into the slots opposite each other and used those to turn the nut!

      @@restosaga Brilliant - will do the same. Won't give me an accurate torque tightness I guess, but maybe "blinking tight" is enough?

    • @restosaga
      @restosaga  3 роки тому +1

      They don’t need to be all that tight from memory?

    Hi thanks for the video , I have those fairey hubs but both grub screws are stripped so can’t get them off yet as they are not working although the actual hubs are in good condition. Could you give the company web site details for the refurb pack .many thanks
    Matt

    watched video still dont see how it comes apart after you take the set screw out to get at the nylon ring to separate the 2 pieces Anyone?

    • @restosaga
      @restosaga  3 роки тому

      Once you take the screw out you should be looking at the ring on the end of the nylon strip. Pry that up out of the hole and pull it, the strip slides out and then the outer ‘cup’ of the FWH will come off easily. Hope that helps.

      Sorry, my accent! It’s called Rocol. It does come up for sale on eBay in small portions. Searching ‘fairey rocol’ is what got me to it. Any problems let me know!
