    Nice video! I bought a Roamerdrive earlier this year to replace the Fairey unit I had fitted, so far I am very impressed. I went on a long trip last weekend to collect a capstan winch and cruised quietly round the motorways at 65mph.... leaving not a drop of oil on the drive when I arrived home. The old Fairey unit would have been dripping after that! I find it always requires a careful double clutch into overdrive for the first time, then after that once warmed up it pops in and out very easily. I recently visited my local Land Rover specialist (They deal with them all, from Series ones to the latest models) and they told me of several Defender owners that had been to them recently with blown up Roamerdrives. I've never heard of a failure on a Series vehicle though and neither had they. Keep us posted on how it goes, but 6k in, mine is just getting good.

      Hi Steamwally. Thanks for your advice, I have never had an overdrive unit on my Land Rovers so this is a brave new experience. That is interesting about the Defenders and the overdrive, sounds like insufficient lubrication?
      I will be sure to do a review once I have completed my trip and let you know how it measures up. Thanks again and I hope your Landy is running sweet.

      @@seriouslyseriesaustralia I'm not sure, I wouldn't wonder if it's down to the extra power but who knows - they may have been unusual cases and I have otherwise only heard good things. It would be good to hear how the trip goes, happy Rovering!

    Great video. Here’s an old timer tip. For holding gasket in place I tie them in place with Teflon tape .

    HI Geoff - I'm considering buying one of these roamer drive units for my series 2a 109. It has a fairey unit now that leaks like a sieve. I await you test results!!! Thank you for thereat videos! :)

    Thanks so much for this video! I just ordered a Roamerdrive for my Series 1. I have quite possibly the slowest rover in existence as I'm running the original 2.0 liter diesel. Hoping this roamerdrive gets me from 30 mph top speed to a brisk 35 mph =).

    I'd be tempted to disconnect the propshaft and run it up without any load for the first time. That way oil will slosh around in all the right places before any power goes through it.

    Hello from Sweden. I have just bought a LR 109 -72. But it's not been on the road since 97. So I will make it road worthy first. But I hade a hydraulic pump at the same place that the overdrive will sit... but I will not use it maybe. But I want one more gear.
    One tip is to use some oil too the niddle bearings before you put it together. Be safe on the roads.

      Hi, MattiasSweden 76. Great to hear that you have bought a 109inch. I will be sure to make a follow-up video to let you and others how the Roamerdrive performs and thank you for the tip about the bearings.

    Hello Geoff I love your video. My roamerdrive has been on for 2 years now and it’s great. I would like to ask about your door air vents. Did you install them? Looks to be a brilliant idea. Thanks for the videos, keeps me inspired during this time of isolation. Thanks Nate

      Hi Nmce 1205. The vents came with the vehicle as it has spent many years out in the desert, they work very well in warmer whether. i believe they are off a caravan. Glad to here these video are helping you to get inspired in this funny world we live in at the moment. best of luck

    Hi Geoff, Thanks for all your vids i enjoy all of them here in the UK okies question for you i have just received my roamerdrive but i have a problem. how do i get the studs out to bolt on the roamerdrive i noticed you took yours out prior before fitting it . very many thanks keep up the great work .

    • @seriouslyseriesaustralia
      @seriouslyseriesaustralia  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Brian. No worries, what you need to do is screw two nuts onto the stud, then use two spanners and tightened the nuts together (you will have to keep the tension on the nut) Then keeping the tension on the nuts start turning the spanners to the left, by doing this the studs will start to undo.

    Hi Geoff, perfect video for helping me decide on Roamerdrive Vs. Fairey overdrive units. The Roamerdrive seems to be a bit more modern and can still buy new units. One question though, did you import the unit or have you found a local (Australian) distributor? The Roamerdrive website shows a marine supplies company as the local distributor but their website is pretty silent on the item.

      Hi Geoffrey i understand the overdive addition. But isnt air lockers getting away from the traditions of the landrover. This is why we love the show. The basics without the bling?
