Great video! I have the 10th anniversary Polar Express, and I was super curious as to what the new version of this engine would be like. Seems like they kept all the best parts and added some nice new features! Also, kudos to you for figuring out all the Cab 1 buttons. Thankfully, they use the same keys for almost every engine: 1 = increase volume. 2 = crew to dispatch / special crew talk if equipped. 3 = water fill / injectors (when moving) / random steam sound 1. 4 = volume down. 5 = shutdown / emergency stop dialog if equiped (when moving) 6 = blow down / random steam sound 2 / auxilary whistle if equipped (for example the TMCC PRR S1 has a horn). 7 = dispatch to crew / crew chatter. 8 = smoke off. 9 = smoke on. (This is just what I've learned from my TMCC and Legacy engines and should apply to most RailSounds 3, 4, 5, and RS Lite (modern legacy) equipped steam engines) Diesels are a little different, but in general, once you know one engine, you know them all. Again, awesome video, and thanks for sharing!
I ran mine for the first time tonight, and honestly thought there was something wrong with the tender speakers. That idle buzzing noise when the train is not in motion but fully powered, seems to be in all of the new ones that people have posted videos of. They are beautiful engines, great review BTW.
Magnificent catches of the model train Polar Express, i like it 5 stars. Thumbs up. Keep up the perfect work, my friend, I just liked and subscribed your channel, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
@ yeah sierra three was the whistle used it was in the directors other movie back to the future 3 so I guess it was a little Easter egg but all other sounds are strictly from PM 1225
@@pandamonium21inc No this engine doesn’t come with cars. There are 7 cars for separate purchase plus more from previous runs. There was a special edition set with a red Polar Express that did come with 3 cars though.
Can you just hit the Aux 1 plus bell to scroll through all 5 instead of hitting the soft key plus 25 every time? at least that's how it's done with the Cab2 Legacy remote 🤷♂️
To clarify, I have a TMCC cab and operate legacy engines with it, and wolf is correct, you don’t need to re address the engine every time. That would be a nuisance 😅
14+ is the age Lionel sets?( I guess so given it's a legacy engine). I was servicing H.O trains at twelve. Heck, my brother was rebuilding E-units at age 10.
I too think it’s a little high, but I have a feeling it is being directed at people who don’t know a lot about these legacy level trains, like how to safely run them and how fragile they are and so on. I also think 14 is probably around the age most Lionel customers would switch between the ready to run semi scale stuff to legacy.
@@kenmunozatmmrrailroad6853 I agree, I would like to get a Cab2 but they are just so expensive now, so I might just get a cab1L remote to use with it, that way I get the quillable whistle

Great video. I love mine. I didn’t know there were 7 cars, I have to see which ones I don’t order. I ordered 5 and thought I ordered them all.
@@Coreyt1976 yeah, there’s a baggage car, combine car, toy car, coach car, 20th anniversary coach car, diner car, and observation car.
4:41 the horn is most likely a Gjallarhorn (think of Vikings) or an brass instrument. Like a Baritone or a Euphonium
That cool that you can buy the polar express by itself now
I am extremely mad that lionel just skyrockets the price for these things
Like couldn't they just set the price to like $500 or $400?
Still extremely disappointed they didn’t go and record sierra 3 and put her whistle in here so you can have the whistle from the movie
@@thefuriousgamer2553 I didn’t even realize they used that train for the movie, you’re right though, that would have been cool to have in the model!

Exactly lionel are junk
i'm glad they released an o gauge polar express with a movie-accurate tender. for some reason the other one really bugged me-
Very nice!
It’s a cow catcher on the front of the locomotive, not a snow plow. Maybe on the Polar Express it would be called a Carabou Catcher.
