    I'm glad you're not a Snap On Only guy. I have Snap On, Craftsman, Husky, Gearwrench and Icon. For me the best bang for the buck is Icon.

      I might have a nice snap on box if I won the lottery, but these days yeah you can’t beat harbor freight for a lot of tools. The quality really has gotten so much better.

      Doyle and Icon are tool truck quality at 1/4 the price 👍

    If you are doing your own Oil Changes, the Filter Wrench that is inside the Pliers is a must have. You don’t use it with the Pliers, it takes a 3/8” Drive. There are Two Sizes on Amazon. Tip, before you use it, bend the end of the Spring Ends, a bit more so you don’t end up launching the springs.

      Yeah I bought mine from the Cornwell truck about 20 years ago, but you can get the exact same tool from Amazon or the auto parts store. I’ve probably used that thing about 10,000 times. I had the bigger one too but I lost it. The smaller one is much more commonly used. And yeah the spring will shoot off if you don’t bend it haha.

    SK/Western Forge made Craftsman Professional - exactly the same wrench you have there, so they're not better than all Craftsman. Craftsman did change to Danaher, which actually had a stronger open end.

      Lynyrd yeah I should have been more specific. I do like the craftsman wrenches, I keep a set in my car. I just really like the SK set I got more. The raised panel craftsman wrenches can be a little thick in tight spots but I’ve never had a problem with them spreading on me. I was referring more to really cheap brands when I said that.

      In the Quad-Cities area, back in the 70’s there was a Large Singer Plant. I said something about wondering if I could buy a Blemished Seconds Sewing Machine, from there. They only made Craftsman Tools there. Also there was a Plant in the area, that made Craftsman Tool Boxes. I think they were called “Pressed Steel Works.”

    Nice tools. I’ve been a tech for a little over a year now and I can’t believe the amount of people I see that have been in it about the same time as me and are 10s of thousands of dollars in debt with the tool trucks. I’ll be honest I’ve bought stuff from them and I owe a little bit but nothing compared to them. I like how you agree not everything has to be fancy. The only thing I will say is I gotta have fancy ratchets lol. Cheap ratchets are my enemy busted a few knuckles with them haha. Same with screwdrivers I’ve screwed up more than a few screws haha but I always tell people get what works for them. I have a US General full size top, bottom and side box and a full bank cart that they released not too long ago. Great quality for a box don’t need a fancy box the box isn’t what makes you money. I can’t imagine doing anything else as a career I love cars and tools lol.

      It was the same 15 years ago. It was always the new techs that seemed particularly bad at wrenching that got the huge tool truck debt.. I always felt bad for them. Back then we also had Sears, which was sort of like harbor freight now (harbor freight back then was honestly too poor of quality to really use, it’s gotten much much better) I think if I bought a new toolbox I would get the us general.

      @@sethallison5682 I miss Sears. That’s my favorite place lol. Ours closed in 2019 I bought the whole tool department at the end practically lol. I got several fill in sockets and things even snagged a few old USA made ones. I remember holding up the line cause the old stock USA ones weren’t in the system so they had to go find the slot for each one and get another one and scan it haha. I also remember going in there with my dad as a kid and seeing the tools and the beds and everything cause they were right next to each other lol. For awhile my brother in law worked there too. I sure do miss that place. I travelled some last summer to visit some and man they were disappointing. I am not too familiar with HF of that generation. I was small lol I’m only 20 right now but I have fond memories mostly of Sears. Kids today will never know what Sears is I missed the golden times of it I know but at least I was around for the end and know what it is lol. I have tons of Craftsman in my box some of it I bought or got replaced but most is from the pawn shop. It works fine. Especially for sockets I don’t see a point in fancy sockets. Heck half the new techs at my work expect to borrow stuff cause they have no tools or minimal tools. They are the really low guys. I can imagine the industry probably has changed a lot since you were in at least as far as technology but probably not with tool fools lol.

    4:30.. I've got quite a bit of Genius Tools..they're good certainly underrated ☝️
    10:15.. and...you can put a wrench on it for leverage. .19mm box end I believe
    13:10... that's actually NOT TRUE ..dozens of youtube videos prove they're actually really good and more accurate than much more expensive torque wrenches

    • @sethallison5682
      @sethallison5682  2 місяці тому

      @@boosted2.4_sky I had 1/4” and 3/8” Pittsburgh torque wrenches. The 3/8” I used on some cam caps during reassembly for a head gasket on my Honda. Set it to the spec but it just kept tightening and tightening and tightening… caught it in time but this wrench frankly didn’t “click” at any setting. Obviously I had a particularly bad experience but my defective torque wrench was enough to turn me off of them.

      I kind of reached a plateau with it. I realized what I had to do to reach the top as a technician, but also realized that I realistically didn’t want to keep working in the field because I was losing interest.
