Some medium/heavy truck shops have spark plug sockets because you can get some medium duty trucks with gassers. Some of the old ones were also gas pots.

Those cleco pneumatic torque ratchets are from mainly the aircraft industry. The "tuning fork" job on 737s uses 3 of them, only settings I can think of are the 80ft/lb and 120ft/lb, can't remember the third torque value.
I love my Snapon ratchets, but the only ratchet I have that’s not a Snapon is a 3/8’s flex head matco ratchet 12” love it one of the best besides a Snapon.

I picked up the new brushless Snap-on impact a few weeks ago and I love it so far. Haven't had a chance to compare to Milwaukee, but there's nothing it won't do.
Adam Slack I have the Mac/dewalt brushless kit (1/2” HT and 3/8) and love them, the 3/8 is nice and stubby, great for brakes and tighter spots on cars, will take off wheels without thinking of it and the 1/2 is more powerful than our 3/4” gun. Two more guys in my shop got the Mac on deal and someone just got a Milwaukee so now we get to compare! The snap on that we have in the line out gets bailed out all the time by my gun even after being rebuilt, although that is an 18V gun from a few years ago.
Neat light-duty setup. Should do heavy duty OTR or heavy equipment one too. Big boy stuff when you get to the ridiculous wrench sizes, hydraulic tools, diesel powered toolboxes, etc...
I'm all for getting something done with best bang for the buck for the buck items. The thing I think some people are missing is that this guy is the owner of the business. I bet his accountant told him you need to speed x amount on tools every year or you'll have to pay a higher tax rate. I'm super cheap but if I was in that position I would have tons of the high dollar stuff too.
Tell this guy instead of his bent wrench for the spun cages nuts, stick the welder in there and tack the nut to the cage. It’ll never spin again, plus you get bonus heat to help loosen it up.
Only bad part of being a diesel mechanic is you have to spend much more on tools because you’ll use both standard and metric especially when working with semi trucks. First year in professionally and I’ve got over $10k invested and that’s not counting the boxes. Always did it on the side for others and myself whenever I owned my own truck and trailer but I Don’t regret it one bit.
yep im cringing, I reckon if that kid invested that money and bought more reasonable tools he'd probably retire when he's 40... Expensive medical bills doin diesel past 40 too..
Samuel Sholder my father is a retired diesel mechanic so I inherited a good bit of my tools (sockets and such). Most of my other tools were purchased off eBay and maybe 20% from the tool truck. Roll cart from matco ($1800) and a classic 78 from a pawnshop for $800. Trying not to go crazy lol

My brother passed and I need to sell his diesel tools and tool cart. 🛠 I'm going to send flyer to mechanic schools and truck repair shops. Can you give me any other areas I should try?
Sorry to hear and sending my condolences. I would get on some Snapon or tool buy/sell pages on FB. I know there are guys on there who buy whole sets. Outside of that maybe a local tech school that would know new guys getting into the trade.
Got a question, watched your video noticed the think you called help assist double jointed snap ring pliers been looking thru snap on catalog didn’t see them. Where can I get it at?

@@RustbeltMechanic nice. A lot of hate coming from guys who've seen techs screw themselves over, but I'm glad to see that this guy is bringing his money home instead of giving it to the tool guy.
Nice tools n boxes young nan. My advice for young or entering the mechanic trade. Buy tools that will make you money, as if you're going to start out with service oil changes. You don't need all those shiny wrench sets. Get enough to get the job done n stay off the candy land trucks. Being a diesel mechanic later into your trade, you'll need most of the tools that this young man is showing. But buy what you need Not to see who has the most tools. Air guns n battery guns saves time, as will a good assortment of pullers, seal drivers ect. Being a field mechanic calls for far more tools vs inside a shop. If you work in a truck shop with drivers coming n going get a tool box set up with a remote lock actuators. Sticky fingers will cost you 20-30% of tools repurchased. Most shops make their floor off limits to non essential persons. Now that I've been retired at 48, my back is a total failure as are my knees n shoulders, wrists n hands. Automotive trade tool costs will be subsequently less vs a diesel mechanic. Field mechanic you better be a above average mechanic n a good fab/welder n super good on electrical n electronics. I have $75k in tools n boxes, n now wish I had the cash as you'll be lucky to get .50-60% on the dollar if you were to sell them. NEVER work for any shop that throws you under the bus to please a customer. We All mess up, n if you don't you don't do much mechanic work. I have a zillion certifications at the master n journeyman level n I still occasionally mess up on little things. Don't sweat the small stuff, you'll learn something new everyday if you're honest. Learn from your n others mistakes.

The truck was a15 speed diesel and the stake body was over stacked with hay bales. Barely made it out of the field without taking the telephone wires out and dumping the truck. So many awesome farm memories. I went to many years of school for a PhD in chemical engineering and I just opened a vintage chopper and metric cruiser shop with fabrication and tuning. Go Figure.
Some medium/heavy truck shops have spark plug sockets because you can get some medium duty trucks with gassers. Some of the old ones were also gas pots.
Thats an awesome tool box/cart . Maybe one day ill have something like that for my shop . Great video thanks for sharing #smallenginenation #keepwrenchin
Those cleco pneumatic torque ratchets are from mainly the aircraft industry. The "tuning fork" job on 737s uses 3 of them, only settings I can think of are the 80ft/lb and 120ft/lb, can't remember the third torque value.
I believe Flir makes Snap Ons thermal imagers?
Nice set up though, have to make a tool box video of my own now, lol.
please tell me the purpose i need a god damn flir camera wtf just some bs snap crap trying to sell
I love my Snapon ratchets, but the only ratchet I have that’s not a Snapon is a 3/8’s flex head matco ratchet 12” love it one of the best besides a Snapon.
Same here the locking flex matco design is better my opinion
Should see a heavy diesel toolbox.
;)
Loose the top of the torque wrench boxes.
I use mine enough that they don't have a box anymore. They have their own drawer Shared with
Many truck mechanics do service calls, always want to keep the torque wrenches safe
This is a very helpful video, gonna have to take good notes for when I start buying tools.
I picked up the new brushless Snap-on impact a few weeks ago and I love it so far. Haven't had a chance to compare to Milwaukee, but there's nothing it won't do.
let me do one of the comparison for you.
milwaukee 280
Snap on +1000
just for laughs. hehe
Miguel Garcia
Yea it’s tool only price.
Not a Diesel pro..... No prolink or laptop....... Kiddy time here with this.
Neat light-duty setup. Should do heavy duty OTR or heavy equipment one too. Big boy stuff when you get to the ridiculous wrench sizes, hydraulic tools, diesel powered toolboxes, etc...
I’m thinking about reaching out and finding other professions to do just that for some more perspectives on toolbox tours.
Yeah, this wasn't really my idea of a "diesel tech" either. I work on diesel pickups and wouldn't say Im a diesel tech for that reason.
2nd year diesel tech student here. Thanks a bunch!
Quick! Find a different career before you're too deep!
sneak dissed him right in his face "im not a big matco fan but" Lmao good vid
I agree have all Milwaukee tools except the ratchet got to have my snap on 14.4 3/8 ratchet love that thing
I see the green harbor freight punches. Idc what people say them punches are bad ass
Milwaukee, makita, Bosch, de Walt , have always been carpenters tools😎
I'm all for getting something done with best bang for the buck for the buck items. The thing I think some people are missing is that this guy is the owner of the business. I bet his accountant told him you need to speed x amount on tools every year or you'll have to pay a higher tax rate. I'm super cheap but if I was in that position I would have tons of the high dollar stuff too.
I’m sure there’s definitely a point of tax spending in there. Much rather spend the money on tools than give it to Uncle Sam
Do a tool box tour a on heavy equipment mechanic and you'll find old pawn shop tools and craftsmen tools
thats the real truth none of this glitzy barbie bullsh*t
I agree more full size drawers for technicians
That is why you get a Snap-on box. They just make more sense
Cornwell new platinum series box has good sized drawers.
No super glue? What does he do when he gets cut?
cordless grease gun is a muuuuust
Tell this guy instead of his bent wrench for the spun cages nuts, stick the welder in there and tack the nut to the cage. It’ll never spin again, plus you get bonus heat to help loosen it up.
I have a set of wobble plus have to be careful you can twist off the ends. I have done that twice but I still love them to give them 2 thumbs up
If you can't flag more than 40 hrs a week it's a waste of money
Wow 👌 👏 👍 👌 👏👍 👌 👏
Good Evening Rustbelt Mechanic take care and have a great day 👍
❤ it
From Nick Ayivor from London England UK 🇬🇧
The new Milwaukee fuel ratchet actually has more torque than the snap on one. Just by a little
Only bad part of being a diesel mechanic is you have to spend much more on tools because you’ll use both standard and metric especially when working with semi trucks.
@@6.4DieselDoctor Smart man. Just remember even putting like 20 a week away you can get huge payoffs. Check a roth IRA calculator... On the other hand dumbasses don't save and pay double on everything cause interest.
A lotta high end Taiwan stuff is real good and affordable. Also just find the OEM for who makes tools. Put the money you save away.
@@samuelsholder2789 he has a business crazy how ppl have no clue how write offs work…. He’s gonna be just fine
If you're going to get a thermal imager you should just go straight to Flir
I love that sliding tool cart!!!
That's quite the tool set up.
“TELL US WERE YOU PICKED THIS BOX UP” lol probably from a Matco dealer
Some beautiful tool boxes !!!
Great video very interesting had watch to the end perfect
That CLECO air tool goes for about $6,000 new. SnapOn has a new competitor in town for charging an arm and a leg...
Ok not a huge difference between that kind of a “diesel” mechanic a real diesel mechanic works on heavy equipment
ua-cam.com/video/CtZM-nzHhoM/v-deo.html
Thé kid is young why the hate
Peyton Boe this baby diesel. Not heavy diesel. But why why so many scanners and $$$$$tools box
Wilton makes the best hammers hands down. Nice vid
Nice setup!
Definitely my dream job right there i love working on diesels
I do heavy equipment all day. Cat and john deere. Etc
Where can you get those drill bits for 200 . They are over 600 on my truck
Poor dude probably $30k+ in debt
Kawasaki Rider based on his tools and tools used he definitely would have that paid off in less than a year if he is a skilled tech
@@TidalSnow1 yes agree 💯 anyone that’s knowledgeable as he was speaking bout his tools he knows and has paid them off surely especially living in a truck/semi/ diesel 🌎
You can tell that OP has never had a job where he could afford to buy nice things lol
Nice tools, I have a orange snapon roll cart, I order all my tools in orange handle to match my box..
I'm a professional diesel mechanic for republic services. These videos helped me set up my box. If you guys want to see my set up, let me know and I can send it to you
Garbage life!!!! I'm a mechanic at waste pro. Much love passed to u my brother stay safe
crawford right on bro. What rigs do you have. We primarily have heils and mcneilus powered by mack, but we also have a couple of autocars and peterbilt rigs
@@cerneysmallengines we have mcneilus rear load, heil for the corrotto can front loads, and now we run new way for our commercial front loads and I have to say I work on them alot less because they dont break as much, atleast for my location
@@cerneysmallengines and we run primarily mack, which is actually a Volvo engine with different valve covers, I'll post a picture to show u bro
@@jimcrawford3259 we run the mp7 engine. I'm not familiar with Volvo engines, so I dont know. We really dont have any rear loaders anymore, we've been phasing to automated side loaders, particularly the zero rev. Up here in Minnesota, the conditions are so harsh, that it doesn't matter what they are, they all break. Our biggest problem is wiring by far because of that
I work for Cummins. The only engines I know and want to know. I work on everything from the 2.8 liter to the 120 liter. And all the Onan generators. I don't have a nice tool box though. They gave me a nice Dodge Ram 5500. Nice set up though.
they gave you a truck?...
There was a guy at Peterbilt where I worked (30 yrs) had a box like this, he was a tool collector/parts changer. Do you wax your box kid? or do you get dirty? You're a peacock.
I used to disagree with statements like this. Not anymore, theres no wear on a lot of this. I spent a lot and I care for my investment but stuff gets wear on it.
Was really hoping to like this guy, let the box owner talk, and get your SnapOn and Milwaukee impact differences figured out.
Nice tool collections! I am happy with my DeWalt, Tekton, Gearwrench, and my "cheap" Chinese made Harbor Freight tools at less than 1/25 of the costs of Snap and Mac/Matco.
You will love the stepped matco drill bits Kyle you should pick them up
Looks like another guy that’s working towards the Tool truck drivers retirement more than their own
Agree 100%
jhitt79 what’s wrong with buying American made tools and tool boxes ? Or buying expensive exotic cars or ocean front homes? Owning quads, jet skis, boats, toys.? Buying $400 redwing boots. ...it’s his money, he should buy what He wants..what makes Him happy. What makes you happy is obviously different and that’s fine.
Joe Framer did I say anything was wrong with it?
And $400 for redwings? I don’t think so. I wear redwings.
eh i feel you, but tools make you money
Matt M debt doesn’t make you money.
Yeah the difference between the Matco and snap on pick is huge!!!! Lol
That Cleco is actually called a nut runner.
No super glue?? Have you never cut yourself before???
very nice and well organized
MY SELF I BELIEVE THAT'S COMPANY TOOLS AS PER SPECIALTY PULLERS N INSTALLERS SPECIFIC TO ONE ENG.. COMPANY BUY'S IT FOR ME & THE SHOP. THEN IF I BELIEVE I CANT LIVE WITHOUT ER, THEN I PURCHASE ONE NEW FOR MY BOX... BEAUTIFUL BOX BROTHER!!!
Matco is king when it comes to a top box.
Great video, guys. I'm a HD diesel tech, just started out my channel.
He needs get ahead the game and get the programming for Paccar motors if he’s going to get deeper in semi trucks
Crows feet wrenches are such a pain in the A#% to use but when you need a crows foot that’s just about the only one that will work
He doesn't say how much his tool debt is. I see a lot of young guys going into crazy debt paying crazy prices for these big name tool boxes the first week at work. Then spend years working for the tool guy.
I totally understand what you are saying. However I know for a fact he has Zero tool debt. He pays cash for everything he has.
@@RustbeltMechanic nice. A lot of hate coming from guys who've seen techs screw themselves over, but I'm glad to see that this guy is bringing his money home instead of giving it to the tool guy.
Good video guys 👍
Learn from your n others mistakes.
f"n if everyone would read and comprehend this the big brand barbie glam bam companies wouldnt be charging what they are charging for absolute crap and 10x overpriced but the big nam and glitz and fam attract the F bois so they buy
Great post and words of wisdom
You've had shop mechanics both automotive And diesel. What about the fitters and heavy duty guys do we not get a feature.
If I get the opportunity I will definitely take it!!
I wanna know more about that wheel lock remover kit in that bottom left drawer
The last privately owned and operated tool company in the U.S.
I think it is great this guy would use very pricey tools to fix some SOB's diesel truck., shows a real commitment to the industry. I wish I could be that way but when it comes time to leave my stuff and go home I would have some real anxiety over it. Thanks for the great tour, I actually like that blue box next to his it really pops.
27:02 In this drawer, on a right there is something like brush. Is that tool for honing the liners?
