AK, you rock! Thanks for filming this. I’m visiting my daughter from out-of-state and figured out that the vacuum pump was defective. Will be headed to the local wreckyard this morning to pull a (hopefully functional) pump and valve. Nice to know what I’m in for! As an aside - if one happens to have variable steering assist on the power steering rack, the pump and the power steering module share the same fuse so if this bad boy goes, it will blow the fuse (as you mentioned) and it will take your steering assist with it leaving you with very stiff steering!
good video ! hard no ideal the brake peddle should be hard not sound like your stepping on mushy air peddle till i came across some videos ? so now i know it should make noise but my hasn't in 2 yrs when i bought the car used . whats the price range on these units?

@@AKJeeperyesterday i watched your video and followed your instruction, i replaced air filterbox, replaced metal bar under airfilter, but i cant find the pump, i think old owner canceled it :( i cant find connection wire. i dont know what to do ? break pedal is very soft and i have warnings on display SRS SERVICE URGENT
@@velvetman49O I always recommend switch replacement whenever I do these. The switches often fail closed, running the pump until it burns out. The process should be pretty similar to your S60R, as it is also a P2 chassis car like this 2002 XC70.
@@AKJeeper noted ! I just put the new pump in yesterday and im not hearing that terrible humming noise so i think im good. My other issue was a brake fluid leak, would this pump cause fluid to come out from somewhere ?

How do you test the unit itself? Can you put leads from a battery to test it?

I believe only the models with turbocharged engines have this vacuum pump.

This is close to the same process for a 2006 volvo s60r ?
And is it good practice to do the switch at the same time ?
