Great video. I was told by mechanic that I have an oil leak. They gave me estimate of over $900. I thought this is too much. I used to fix my own cars but haven't done so for more than 20 years. Now the cars have become very complex especially European cars. This video gave me courage to give a shot. It's a success. Costs me 37 bucks to order the kit and two hours of my time. I only have one thing to add. My battery box is larger than yours so that I could not remove the screw behind it. Instead of having to remove it, I drill a hole on the box, and after this, it becomes very easy. Another trick is, I put a shopping bag in the space right below the vacuum pump i was removing, so that I don't have to worry about things falling in. Thank you for the great video.
Anyone else think UA-cam is getting a little more willing to play back to back 15 second ads? Thanks for the tutorial, definitely going to be a huge help
Thanks for this great video. The dealer just quoted my $1600 for this job. What a joke how dealers gouge people for simple repairs or anything for that matter.
Had an oil leak on my 2013 xc60 and found the oil stains on the right side of the splash guard. Now I have an idea where to look. Thank you for this video. Is the fastener on the right side easy to get at or would it make sense to remove the battery? Also, any update on the torque specs since you have done the video?
I have 2012 C250, some oil leak come from vacuum pump, I replaced 2 different vacuum pump but still has slight oil comes from back seal of the pump, I bought aftermarket pump not OEM, any suggestions to solve this issue ?
I have same problem with 2015 t5 But couldn’t find repair kit anywhere They just have 3.0engine xc60, do they use different size of o-ring between 3.0 and t5 model?
What is the symptoms? My t6 has a high pitch noise near the vacuum pump. Cannot determine exactly the location. The noise only appears after engine gets warm up and at idle. It disappeared after I accelerate. Appreciate your comment!
That noise you’re hearing is most likely coming from the PCV valve that’s built into the valve cover. On this car the pump is leaking oil but at the pump also feels it will have a hard or stiff brake pedal.
@@HowtoAutomotive I initially suspect pcv. But feel the noise does not come from the pcv, but a bit front of engine bay. Is it normal? When open oil cap, only mild suction and the noise did not change. That is why I am not sure about pcv. So far no leak. Brake is OK. But quite dirty on the vacuum pump. Maybe just change both pcv and pump seal to see? The car has 150k miles already. Thank you for the comment!
my 2011 Volvo XC60 has been leaking oil from the turbo into the cat converter, the mechanic said i needed to replace the turbo and oil lines, as well as the cat. He said my best option was to sell since it was going to cost about $6,000-$8,000 to fix everything, (mechanic is the brother of a friend of mine) but after doing research I can’t find anything about a turbo leaking oil and needing full replacement. Not sure what to do at this point, i took it to my moms trusted mechanic and he only noticed that the cat converter needed replacement, and didn’t say anything about the turbo. Not sure what to do at this point since I thought I could trust both mechanics but they both came up with different diagnostics. Help anyone?

Good morning and thank you for sharing
This kit for sure fits the T5? When I check the link, it shows on FCPeuro that it only fits the 6 cylinder engine.
Very good video. Thanks.
Thank you!
Thanks. Very nicely explained. I just found my t6 xc60 has a significant oil leak somewhere. I know where to look next.
bed and breakfast fan this is a common leak.

Did you find the 2.0? I have same issue
You don't need to lubricate the O rings with fresh oil?
I need to see underneath the Volvo XC60 to determine where the leak is and how to fix it.
Doesn’t help much when the leak is coming from almost the middle of the engine. Gotta start at the top. Here

What transpired after these couple of years with your Volvo?
3,2l
Not a 2.5 . It's a 3.0
Volvo...not my cup of tea.
Nope, by the looks of the cars you work on you're generally in the sub $200 vehicle range.
@@topdeckdog And you're achieving what exactly by that comment?
It’s one of the simplest brake vacuum pump systems
