Thank you for the educational video, very helpful. I asked a local Volvo dealership and they mentioned that the vacuum pump booster screws are to be tightened to 17 Nm (12.54 ft-lb) after the reseal kit is installed.
Thank you for making this video, very helpful. Question, is this pump supposed to be making scratching noise when it runs? Mine does, it's pretty loud. Guessing, it originates from the plastic rotor piece that rubs against the enclosure?
I know this is an older video, but our 14xc90 awd has an audible knock sound when the engine is running. Today i did the old screwdriver to the ear test and it is clearly coming from the vacuum pump. Any idea what that could be? Otherwise there isnt a rough idle and the engine seems to run fine otherwise. Thanks in advance!
Should be oil inside the pump after rebuilt? If not, the parts will not have friction? I have rebuilt mine, and cleaned the inside (no oil).. Just wanted to re confirm before I put back and start the car..
Unfortunately the oil is leaking from the metal seal which is between the pump and engine.. What could be the reason? Not so tight screws as my bottom one was striped or the seal itself? If the latter, can I use a sealant instead?
Man the XC60/XC90 looks like way more of a fight vs my XC70. The XC70 T6 or 3.2L engine barely have to undo anything and barely anything in the way apart from just intake tube, once that’s moved it’s full access no fussing with losing up any other parts like you had to or fighting with the wiring or what not. Makes me wonder how much ford involvement their was on the XC60/XC90 on my 2011 XC70 maybe many FoMoCo parts but it feels like I’m working on a Volvo very few things fighting me, when I work on my GF’s 2012 XC60 it feels like I’m working on a cross breed between a ford and a Volvo and lot of things fighting me. Same could be said about when we had a 2009 V50 T5 AWD as well, 6 months of ownership trying to fix up a beaten car and while we did it much of the stuff we just paid someone to do for us because was a lot of fighting with shit.
Thank you for posting this video. I did my booster rebuild yesterday with your assistance. Watching this made it an easy job.
paul anthony glad the video helped and you got your car going again. Thank you for watching!

The engine will pump oil in it.

Why does oil leak from the vacuum pump into the brake booster?
Because this vacuum pump is driven by the cam on the engine and the oil leaks through the engine side into the vacuum pump..
Hey! I have a 2008 xc70. But it still has the 3.2 engine. Should this work with mine?
Yes
What's the part number of the bracket? mine is missing.
Sunil Yadav I don't have a part number for the bracket you will need to contact your local dealer for that.
