Working in The Metaverse - Horizon Workrooms VR Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 сер 2022
- We've spent some time exploring VR and are just now dipping our toes in the Metaverse in search of a better alternative to Zoom calls. That's where we landed on Horizon Workrooms, Meta's bespoke alternative to Zoom calls. While Workrooms is still in Beta, it still offers a fantastic experience that truly brings digital interactions into the 3rd dimension. Horizon Workrooms is currently free and works across both Windows and Mac.

I don't even use it for meetings, I just draw with my friends and it's really fun
10 billion dollar graphics btw
Nintendo already gave us the conclusion that graphics don’t matter
I can't take my vendors or others seriously when they look like cartoons.
Love it!
How did you record this and especially the pip?
Can I connect a bot that makes it look like I'm nodding my head and talking about pie charts, so I can work at like 3,000 different jobs at once?
The hand tracking for the real hands in the passthrough mode is interesting. Wonder how well it actually works.
So amazing
"If I could get my hand tracking to work here" never had that problem with sending an email tbh
What does any of this have to do with "working" though? I don't care if the outside of the vr window is a city or a beach, is it conducive to getting work done, or is meta trying to "improve" the most droll aspect of working in a business, that is, completely pointless meetings that no one wants to go to that actually wastes their time that they could actually be getting work done?
definetly big potential. looks cool and interesting
I don't know. It has potential but clicking a button on zoom requires way less set up.
in software this room was made , blender ?
Have you tried using any 3 d models in these workrooms? So can you drag in any 3 d models and interact with them?❤❤
After trying this out a bit I only have 4 things/complaints,
1. There is a slight flickering that I experience which is kind of annoying when I aknowledge it
2. The headset can get uncomfortable
(Both problems above probably can and have been fixed by the Quest Pro)
3. I wish you could control presentations while standing up at the white board
4. I wish you could put images up and potentailly draw on them as advertised (Maybe you can I just havent discovered how)
seems a bit depressing
So are regular Zoom and Teams calls tbf lol
A bit? It's honestly the dumbest idea since google Stadia. This dude is a shill.
Is the headset heavy after wearing for a few hours?
Using the stock head strap, my head tends to get pretty tired after an hour or so of use. I recently got a replacement strap that offsets the weight somewhat and highly recommend one
It's a marvelous start. In 1-2 years, I am sure it will be used daily by millions of people.
Thanks for the info
Kaise join krien sir
Lol Which golf game?
Are you getting better and do you like it
The need to mix this into horzion worlds l
Whats the website for the nonvr meeting?
Meta Horizon Workplace - different to workrooms
Definitely the future. U remember like 30% more in these type of vr calls compared to regular calls on average. That's a huge productivity gain for work related meetings. But tbh I just love talking to my friends like this too. I do live abroad tho so the only way we can talk is calls or videocalls or VR. VR is definitely the most fun and realistic way to be with each other. Even if its just an avatar
If I can't get high with my homies you wont find me in the metaverse cuh
@@theflowpowa42oshow u can get high in the metaverse bud
This is sponsored content isnt it. this is an ad not a review.
We always disclose if content is sponsored in the video, so rest assured it is not! We know it's an unpopular take, but trust us, we were sceptical before we ever tried it. From the perspective of using it in place of Zoom and Teams calls however, it's a much better alternative.
@@getconnectednow How long were these meetings? How many meetings per week did you sit in? Sure, as a toy during brief pretend meetings the novelty might be appealing. But like, how much did you really sit with this thing on your face for weeks and months on end?
It sounds like you discount the ability to disengage during endless boring pointless meetings. That is the great advantage of Zoom/Teams over in person meetings. Most meetings are pointless, and most people really want to be involved as little as possible.
@@5kribbles Bro, why do y’all people gotta show hate..
@@TheRipper0101 facebook/meta present a horrifying dystopian vision of the future and we should be honest about that and push back against them.
Talking about the reality of being forced to wear this for hours on end for your job isn't balenced out by how neat it is that you can change the scenery outside the window and that fake fog will sometimes pass by.
This comes from a place of love for genuine human interaction with each other and the world around us, rather than one mediated and influenced by algorithms driven by corperate incentives.
@@5kribbles What do you mean? “We should be honest about that” Not everyone has the same thought’s. Some, may thing it’s awesome. Other’s, may not.
Does it give you a headache after half an hour?
Nope, I can wear it for over an hour without any issues! Face sweat is the main problem lmao
Some of these meetings can last from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Do you really want to wear this for 2 hours straight?
Maybe try adding RTX realistic texture packs
This is the first UA-cam video that I stumble upon that works Fullscreen on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (aspect ratio 4:3).
Oh nice! We'd love to see how it looks. Send us a pic @getconnectednow everywhere!
Lol, I came to comments to say the something similar after watching it on my fold😂
How do you guys like your folds? Thinking about getting one next
@@Tribuneoftheplebs I like it, but keep in mind for UA-cam and most modern media the aspect ratio results in extra black bars.
If you like multitasking (2+) apps simultaneous it's good. It's good for web browsing and good for emulation and older video content (4:3) ratio. It's good for reading (kindle, etc). It's nice for looking at pictures you've taken.
However, you will use the phone closed more often than you probably realize (I'm typing this with it closed). Technically speaking, screen quality is below the top non folding flagship Samsung phones.
I don't regret getting it. I'm happy with it and when I play games on it and read on it I am even happier with it. However, I am more hesitant to recommend it now than before. I think it is ideal for a pretty percentage of smartphone users.
These comments make me realize just how much further VR has to go from a social stigma point of view. So many people are very fast to assume that not only is this pointless for (insert random reason here) but also is a net negative on the experience vs non-VR remote communication... not to mention those who think its the new impending downfall of society (like the internet in the late 90's). This truly is one of the most polarizing pieces of tech out there, and the funniest part about it is that the polarity can be widely divided between those who have tried it tend to like the idea, and those who haven't tend to hate the idea. The magic is in the experience, not the product or the workflow... and I suspect that is what makes it so hard to explain to others in a way they will understand unless they just try it themselves.
i mean yes people are very divided but it will not take much effort to change the publics opinion. Once everyone tries it most people will like it or at least not hate it just like with phones/pcs back then. I was born in 2000 it is crazy to think how much the technology changed in 20 years.
I and many others don't have a problem with the Product, but with the company behind it. I think it is understandable to not want Facebook even more involved in our lifes
I was going to buy a new headset but every time I’ve looked at the VR worlds there is nowhere near enough offerings compared to the marketing hype, or for that matter $10billion investment that has been made. Poor marketing and poor development productivity IMO.
Waiting for some new videos...
We've got a new one on all of this coming out next week!
to me its just not practical. i really want to be excited about this but i just cant get behind it. Meta wants this to takeoff so they can get a fee for all virtual transactions but the lack of public interest is a real problem. many users dont return after the first month, why invest in a platform if the future is so uncertain. with that beign said the only potential is the possibility of having a huge virtual monitor
No mate, meetings in vr are 100% the future. Even normal calls will be replaced if they are longer than x minutes. Research has shown that u remember 30% more in vr meetings compared to normal calls or video calls. Thats a huge productivity gain and why it will slowly get there. There is tons of other ways to use it work related tho. Vr doesn't have a lack of interest. If u look at the numbers u see it growing extremely rapidly. Every other couple weeks or so I hear a friend or an acquaintance saying they bought a headset. Its really catching on. Why hating on meta with "they want this to take off so they can take fees?" Meta has no monopoly or patent on these things? Every other company can do it too. If they charge too much people will go to another company.
I think this app definitely has potential. Just tried it my self. It has some room for improvements. I just wish we had this like it is now when the pandemic was a large and my team tried VR for meetings. The way this is now could have worked great for us.
Would have been cool if we could create our own offices and meeting rooms in unity or something.
Meta did not create the oculus headsets for one. And number two “meta verses” already exists since every company has control of its economy and product since it’s always been that way. Community already have a meta verse for games they are apart of.
Wait…I go into VR….so I can look at my monitor?
Since the last update you can now look at 3 massive monitors, even if you're only working from a laptop
@@getconnectednow why look at 3 monitors in a shitty vr room when I can look at any app on my computer with 3 Full hd Monitors in my real desktop for the same price of a headset? the focus meta has for vr is utterly stupid
Yes this has a purpose, and future. It will help detach bias, and rudeness. It purifies communications on many levels and, with that helps join those whom have self aware issues. Can help in training, and personal improvement therapy as well. Medical community will also join in as well as to the full potential of education, edification and many other communication systems can now reach autistic, and special needs children and adults.
I prefer a regular phone call. But to each their own.
Fair!
I would love to try this. It will make meetings more interesting for me.
Absolutely!
Can I smoke weed in the metaverse ?
Just played with Horizon Workrooms tonight. It's pretty awesome. 😎 Love the ability to change the logo and posters.
It's especially impressive when you get other people in there for a meeting! 100x better than Zoom or Teams
Ah yes, changing the logos and posters in a little cartoon world - the integral aspect of a serious business meeting…
It actually looks pretty cool tool-wise but the cartoon avatars are not good. I don’t wanna be seeing Nintendo characters lol looks like a child’s game
i think people should create FAT avatars if they are fat on real life. Otherwise it is missleading and you may not be able to judge others :-)
and as we know judging other people is part of socializing
Needs a lot of work.
Playstation home was so much better and it was 14 years ago!
I was a huge fan of Playstation Home! However I spent way too much on virtual clothes from the Diesel Store
@@getconnectednow I spent a lot of time doing side quest! I loved it so much. Doing games with others that they gave a demo for!
Wii graphics are better
They need to allow people that was forced to sell the quest devices because of the abuse from the toxic community. I own a pico now 😂
That’s a great opinion “Democrats are Nazis”, thanks for sharing.
This seems terrible
How.
It's honestly not
@@espaciovirtual6699 the graphics aren’t terrible
What? Everyone is laughing about it including about miniverse horizon. And you think it's great? Are you hired by facebook?
Have you tried it? It's actually pretty awesome.
@@AaronKolm I have a decent pc. I like quality aaa games over social media things. Come on who is using this on the workfloor wearing a brick around your neck for 8 hours bahahaha ? Some vr freaks, because they can?
@@michelverheijen6643 I don’t think you realize the implications this software has
@@raaaaaaaaaam496 zoom vr bahahaha yes it's a miracle. You can do the same in vrchat.
@@michelverheijen6643 nope
i absolutely hate it when people make avatars that dont look anything like them.
fix your avatar bub

Wtf is this??? This is sick I MISS THE 90s!!!!!!!!
So this is why meta stock is falling
