Man!, This reminds me of my struggle, a struggle am still going through. I started as a drummer, I still remember the hours, sweat and frustration, but little by little I got better and it was a beautiful feeling making those small advancements. My true Love was and Is Guitar, so Last year, I took guitar seriously and because of the discipline I learned, I have seen advancement in 1year that it has taken others 2-4yrs to learn on guitar. This vid Is a beautiful reminder of how hard work and discipline really pays off! Thank you, keep doing your thing!!
This is actually really cool. Rarely do you get to see the progress of such good drummers. It really humanizes the whole process as we often think that musicians of this skill level as magically immune to common flaws.
Man your awesome. You showed me what I should've been by now had I not quit. I started playing in 93 and quit in 03. I just picked it back up a few months ago and I'm improving quicker then I ever thought I would. But, I should be way up the ladder right now had I not quit. Thanks for the videos, I learn more on yours then any others that I watch. Keep on grooving man!!
This is so inspiring. I can see the struggling me in every year leading up to 2012-2013, which is where I can safely say I've been stuck at for a while now. Time to watch more of your lessons!
I'd go so far as to say that every beat has been played. Though- that doesn't take away from the fact that you "made it up yourself." If you figured it out on your own, that still counts as a creative new beat for you.
It's really cool to see how "your" style stayed with you even through all those years. There were certain grooves and especially the blazing around the set that kept popping up! Awesome perspective man.
The old haircut was boss! I thought you were wearing a wig initially haha.. you've made some amazing progress over the years man! good stuff keep it up.. it's very inspiring to us fellow drummers, and sometimes it takes looking back to realise how much you've achieved
A major shift in your playing during the summer of 2007. New teacher that summer? You certainly have come a long way! You went from making playing look completely labor intensive to effortless over the years. Bravo! Thank you for sharing your journey!
Thanks for sharing this video. I enjoyed seeing your progress through the years. I'm about a year into my drumming journey and I'm making progress as well and it's exciting to see what possibilities are out there for me if I keep practicing. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for making this video!! It will inspire every drummer out there to keep practicing and wait for the results. Thanks a lot!!! Happy Drumming!!!
I think on top of seeing your own progress, the most important thing to notice here is that you're always "experimenting" and finding your weakness's. Slowly each of those weakness disappeared, and now you're a straight up solid drummer. I think you're chops were always there, but your control and ideas grew and gave your chops an outlet. Cool video!!!!
Hey Adam, great videos, it's nice and refreshing to see someone share their journey, like all of us it is an ongoing journey. I've been drumming on and off for over 20 years, and I've learnt a different way of looking at things from you. Nice work. and thanks for inspiring even the old folks ! cheers mate. Dave J
Holy shit! Brings back some awesome memories of junior and senior year at LPHS! But my friend the chops are always on point and kill it. Keep living the dream bro!
This was very cool to see. Huge jump in dynamics and control in 2012 then again in 2013 to mastering how to use it all by 2014. Excellent stuff! Definitely inspiring. Wish I was younger...lol For those of you young drummers watching this. You can see it isn't magic or something you are born with. If you want to be great, put in the time. If you practice correctly and put in the work, you can master the instrument.
Wish I had filmed my adventure(that i'm still in) as do I wish I could see the same montage of more drummers. This was a great idea. Made me tear up a little bit :)
I watched the entire video, and man this is soooo inspiring!!! Thank-you for sharing this. Some days it almost feels impossible to get to the level I want to be at. But it just takes time, and hard work! The rest will work itself out.
thanks for sharing, really interesting seeing a drummers journey over time. Things started to fall into place for you around 2010-11 by my reckoning. Takes time to build up the skills which reminds me to keep practicing!
Cool video, bro! Great to see your progress. I think the videos with bands really demonstrated the growth of your musicality over the years. The last few shots were a great example of the improvement in your technique, touch and control. Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing.
hello liked the video and saw the change completely in a matter to the hilt with the stick, firmness of the notes, cash position and other am Brazilian and I like to see these developments intend to do with my son who is starting the music now 2 years brand new kkkkkk age do not even know the world even more I will present the music to him as he watched his entire video this already shows that he has good taste.
Wow ! How majorly difference the sound that came out from that DW compared to the previous drums you had in this video. Plus, the drum microphones does play a huge role I assumed.
Adam..from 2009 to 2011 you're into some kind of metal meets fusion, from 2012 onwards there's a huge progress in your drumming, i knew that you worked your ass off and pushed yourself,....... 2012 might be a big year for you, entered drum off and all that...and i think you chose single over double pedals is the best decision in my opinion as well as yours too, from 2013 onwards i self proclaimed you as a professional drummer, i've watched all your videos and learned a lot from you.......keep on posting, wish you all the best,..thank you.
Very cool. Sometimes we do not realize the evolution of our studies, this video shows us how important it is practice, no matter how long it takes you but one day you get there.
the idea had to be created in 2007 ...and since 2011 you worked very hard ;) awesome job man! keep on :) This film has strengthened my belief that no matter when you start. thanks ;)
I've followed your videos pretty much from the start. I liked the way you teach. If described in 3 words, clear, progressive, inspiring. It gets better when you share you progress. I'm at the verge of giving up on my teaching career and personally as a drummer. Most of the time we look at 'the best side' of people and tend to forget how they've managed to get this far. Thanks for all the effort to compile your progress and to show life. Indeed is a true reminder for all drummers :)
Just a guess but between '09-11 you got in the gospel chops style / discovered Mike Johnston and started a regular practice routine? It seems that during that time you gained a lot of finesse and control in your playing and learned how to control the speed you gained up until then. You must have had an absolutely crazy practice routine between 2010 and now! couple of hours a day? In my playing personally now you, mike johnston and matt garstka are some of my biggest inspirations. Keep it up Adam
Awesome - looks like 2012 is when you started playing the drums for real - finally get the grove and sound, and your technique goes exponential from that time on, is that when you started practicing exercises? That's very interesting to me because in the past 2 years you progressed much more than during the 7 first years. Needless to say that you are a killer drummer now. So very well done you!
I guess its true what they say about good haircuts. :p The thing that stood out to me was your left hand loosening/opening up sorta speak....not digging in so hard on 2 and 4. Thanks for sharing brother...
I think a big thing to take from this is how your drum tuning also evolved. I swear I had a snare that sounded exactly the same in some of those live gig videos you had early on hahaa. Also - when my kids grow up they're learning how to tune a frigging guitar, drummer or no.
i am a high school percussionist who is wanting to play set in my church, what cymbals would advise for a smaller church? we play anywhere from contemporary christian music, to older country styled gospel. im looking at the Sonor Safari 4 piece. i like the style you play, it seems kind of like pop with elements from all other styles. could you also do a how to on like Dailey and vincent styled gospel music. ?
this gives me hope
More like drumming and fashion progress. Haha Good on you for the improvements in both regards!
This is awesome & inspiring, but perhaps the MOST fantastic thing is the 9 years of hair progress!! :-) Adam Tuminaro
This is really honest and beautiful and takes bravery. Thanks for putting it up, you sound great dude.
Man!, This reminds me of my struggle, a struggle am still going through. It was amazing to watch how more subtle and nuanced your drumming has become. Thank you for the video!
When you see a drummer play a pattern/beat VERY similar to one you thought you "made up" yourself... 0_0
almost everthing has already been played😂
I'd go so far as to say that every beat has been played. Though- that doesn't take away from the fact that you "made it up yourself." If you figured it out on your own, that still counts as a creative new beat for you.
Pretty unlikely statistically.
Consider that a well shuffled pack of cards will be in a never before seen combination.
It's really cool to see how "your" style stayed with you even through all those years. There were certain grooves and especially the blazing around the set that kept popping up! Awesome perspective man.
Really great video Adam. Cool to see a glimpse of you growing into the drummer you are now. Hopefully drums continue to treat you well.
The old haircut was boss! I thought you were wearing a wig initially haha.. you've made some amazing progress over the years man! good stuff keep it up.. it's very inspiring to us fellow drummers, and sometimes it takes looking back to realise how much you've achieved
bro i love this video, it shows people to not give up that in the end youll get where you want to be. thanks a lot for sharing this with us! blessings
A major shift in your playing during the summer of 2007.
New teacher that summer?
You certainly have come a long way!
You went from making playing look completely labor intensive to effortless over the years.
Bravo!
Thank you for sharing your journey!
Very entertaining and insightful. You had the ideas early on, and now have the chops and solid time to pull it off. Thanks for sharing.
AH! A Rogers kit! My first kit, which I still have, is a '76 Rogers USA my father left me when he past. Same color as well wrap as well.
Inspiration levels are through the roof! This video is awesome.
Thanks for sharing this video. I enjoyed seeing your progress through the years. I'm about a year into my drumming journey and I'm making progress as well and it's exciting to see what possibilities are out there for me if I keep practicing. Thanks again.

Amazing man. Keep doing what you do... you'll be a legend one day
Love to watch the progress of your drumming and the evolution of your hair-dos LOL
This was very encouraging and helpful. Thanks for being vulnerable and posting this montage!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!...BIG EVOLUTION...VERY GOOD!!!
I think on top of seeing your own progress, the most important thing to notice here is that you're always "experimenting" and finding your weakness's. Boyhood meets whiplash
Genius comment!
HAHAH!
Thanks for sharing, Adam!
Glad to see you learned some dynamics lol you're awesome man, love your videos.
Love this Adam! What a journey
Love the hairstyle back in the day too!
Great drumming as usual Adam, nice to see the progression through the years. That kit from Feb 2012 tho! Whatever it was sounds absolutely fantastic.
Hey Adam, great videos, it's nice and refreshing to see someone share their journey, like all of us it is an ongoing journey. Dude, you're awesome (:
You are great ☺
this was really cool . proof of perseverance
I had the same Rogers kit as my first drum set!
I've followed your videos pretty much from the start.
I liked the way you teach.
If described in 3 words,
clear, progressive, inspiring.
It gets better when you share you progress. I'm at the verge of giving up on my teaching career and personally as a drummer.

September 2007 I used to play that saosin song all the time around the same exact time.
Just a guess but between '09-11 you got in the gospel chops style / discovered Mike Johnston and started a regular practice routine? Eres todo un grande Adaam!!
Èl es una baterista bueno :)
I have been playing since couple of years and I am still in late 90s 😯
Now this is what progress looks like.
This about the speed I'm going on I've been playing for 11 months and already learned a lot and it's one of the only things I'm good at
Woah, dude this is awesome!
Awesome montage.
I dig your fills bro
It was really interesting!
Wow great retrospective. It's interesting to see how your playing matured and calmed down. When are you bringing back the early years Fro?
Very wreck less in the beginning then transformed with focus and control now...great progression!
young Adam had hands for daysss!!!
Awesome - looks like 2012 is when you started playing the drums for real - finally get the grove and sound, and your technique goes exponential from that time on, is that when you started practicing exercises? This video seems to prove to me speed isnt everything. Love the transformation.
I think a big thing to take from this is how your drum tuning also evolved. I swear I had a snare that sounded exactly the same in some of those live gig videos you had early on hahaa.
Also - when my kids grow up they're learning how to tune a frigging guitar, drummer or no.
Fall 2011 is the first clip that I see the drummer I know as Adam Tuminaro
I can tell you like the songo! Me too!
@07:18 - Whats the snare?? Looks like SJC or OCDP?? Also, love the refinished Superstar. I hate myself for selling mine so cheap when I did.
2012 you started letting your chops breath. Awesome to see the progress. Wish I had such videos to remind myself of my progress.
you were obsessed for how fast you cold go.. weren't you? lol nice video man!
I'm happy your hair isn't like it was in 2005 anymore
great montage
can you breakdown that really fast cool sweeping fill you did in the summer of 2009? @ around 5:53
i am a high school percussionist who is wanting to play set in my church, what cymbals would advise for a smaller church? we play anywhere from contemporary christian music, to older country styled gospel. im looking at the Sonor Safari 4 piece. i like the style you play, it seems kind of like pop with elements from all other styles. could you also do a how to on like Dailey and vincent styled gospel music. ?
There is hope for all of us! :p
i like how you tune your drums
That improvement from 2008 summer to 2009 summer tho...would love to see clips between that period if that even exists haha
First years... man you were totally average! Very motivating to see how you evolved! Present time you are simply a beast!
