This is one of the best triplet instructional lessons I've encountered and I am a drummer of many years. I will certainly put these ideas to use. Some secrets have been revealed to those with ears to hear and eyes to see. Much appreciated.

I LOVE this stuff...I've been teaching for 50 years, and the rudiments that are soooo useful on the drum set..I've been permutating the Para-diddle-diddle and paradiddles, double paradiddles...When I studied in NYC with ED Shaughnessy,he had me doing some crazy stuff, and it took me a long time to reap the benefits...Nice video...do more!!!!

No worries... I thought I was going crazy lol. I guess it just boils down to I'm having trouble balancing out and counting everything. I can play both hands fine and I can play the right hand and right foot but layering the left hand over my right foot is where I'm struggling and it happens right at that first high hat that is missing in the transcription. Lol just my luck. Thank you for the response and I'm sure I'll nail it with a little more work!

When you mentioned that it was swung and then played the left hand ostinato I got really confused, but then you played with the other limbs and then I understood the mentioning of the swing. Then again, swing is somewhat implied when playing sextuplets. Great lesson though!

In my opinion, I think more of it has to deal with endurance and control. So I would play a measure of 16th notes and put an actual stopwatch (app) on and gauge your progress that way. Also make sure you do this with a metronome so that you are really focusing on control. Hope that helps!
