DanOfTheNorthEast Hey I was just wodnering because im in a band and im a vocalist and we have done a couple concerts and gigs at school and continue to practice together, how do you handle yourself worrying that being a muscician might not work out and that you might just be terrible in the end especially as a vocalist. I love how your setup has changed over the years. It shows how simplifying things has made it more refined. Honestly thinking about picking up my sticks again and getting back at it. Thanks, brother.
Watching this progression is really cool. Makes me realize how stagnant my learning/improvement has been on the drums for years. Kudos to you for continuing to improve.
You are a great speaker and I love that you took the time to share this journey. I’m a drummer that’s self taught and am just now (after 15 years of playing) starting to sit down for 2 hours a day and work on stick techniques and rudiments. Per your recommendation I’m adding recording myself drumming to the list of things I need to do. Again thank you and God bless.
New sub here! This is totally inspiring! To see the progress you've made in 13 year really speaks me! I'm a dad now and have been playing for 6 years but I've began to feel myself plateauing due to lack of time. But hearing your tips throughout this video have really got my thinking about ways to improve! It may sound like a no brainier to some but listening to myself and forcing myself to try to explain more of what I'm doing sound like great steps in the right direction. Thanks!
This inspired me so much, there are a lot of times where ill be practicing and feeling like im getting no where and to see your progress over 13 is really reassuring that as long as i keep at it and really understand what and why im doing certain things then the sky's the limit. Thanks Adam!
Nice technique, you're really fast. Also got good feel. up to 2014 you needed to practice more with a metronome, seems like you're putting 120% and can't keep up. From 2015 you seemed to jump by a couple of levels, went into PRO, finally you're keeping on beat, almost effortlessly. Thanks for the Vid, it was awesome to see your progression.
I've never watched any of your videos before, and don't know shit about drums, but it's really great to see someone steadily progress with something they love doing. May you keep getting better and understand yourself through your music!
Dude I’m really on your progress because I started watching you in like 2013 and you are an incredible teacher I haven’t practice like I want but you showed me tons of great licks that I have now appreciate it my man please keep it up for guys like me
Wow this makes me realize how much I need to improve, I've definitely come a long way since I started drumming 4 years ago, but damn you had the rudiments down in no time at all ,something I'm still struggling heavily with, videos like this give me a lot of motivation though, keep up the badassery my friend
I will say this.. all the early years of just going fast and crazy have given you an edge. Now that you learned to tame and control it your an incredibly fast and timely drummer. Impressive!
Thanks for having this video as an inspiration sir! I am just a 15 year old self-teached drummer and I am really really grateful that you have this kind of video teaching to me and the other people. I hope that I would be a professional drummer like you now. Thanks so much sir for this video!
I didn't know about your channel until this very video and i have to say 2 things. 1. As a musician and musicophile i feel i liked your playing just from the latest clips, but it's the lead story: you became a better drummer practicing 2. Man if i love how you set the whole story telling here.. it's an ongoing trend to post a video like ''10 years progress plying my instrument" and at first it was okay, i mean mainly you could find simple cronological performances. But you step it to the next level bringin in a commentary on what moved you into becoming a better musician by practicing and investing money in it. i love it mainly because the trend just led to a bunch of vloggers getting to know the world that they can learn how to play sounds from an instrument in only a week or even a day.. this video is the real shit indeed.
It's reassuring to know that the steps you took to culminating your success are very similar to the drumming phases that I've been working through. This video reinvigorates my inspiration for achieving greatness. Thanks man.
Your progress really shows beginning in February 2012, even the sound of your drums starts improving. I've been playing since 1993, but I really didn't start learning how to play until last January. I'm 43 now and have a long journey a head me. Keep up the content though, guys like you and @Mike Johnston really help us new to journey stay inspired. Thanks!
Year late here, but i’m a starting guitarist, and a piece of advice i’d give you is to start off slow, maybe slow beats in different music genres like rap or Lofi, i’ve made a lot of progress learning easy stuff like punk rock and grunge, blink-182s drummer is Travis Barker, and he’s like the Jummi Hendrix of drumming lol
Really inspiring to see your progress over the years man. Your videos give me stuff to practice when my idiot brain can’t think of what to work on. Bravo.
Such a great inspiration...thankyou so much ...Is there a period where u were struggling with the drum tuning and tone ...cause .I am still struggling with it...and really wanna get over it..
You could really see the difference that slowing down made. Your open hand technique, ghost notes and hi-hat techniques all sky rocketed. Well done sir, you've become quite impressive.
Great Video Adam! It was really awesome to see how you progressed over the years. I wish I'd done something like this. I am 52 and still drumming. I'm in the planning stages of moving to Florida from Pennsylvania. I will look you up once I arrive. Maybe we can have a Drum Hang! Blessings!
Yeah. You chilled out hard with your playing and found zen in maintaining a solid core beat. As a bassist. It’s like a way of being playing a rock solid line repeatedly to establish a song. I’m no pro but man. That foundation is everything
ZX6R I’m guessing you are not a drummer. A guitarist maybe? Anyways, that is absolutely not true. Lessons teach people technique and timing, subdivisions and groove, a multitude of things they can often not teach themselves on drums.
I've been dabbling in percussion since elementary school. I got to the point in High school where I was one of the best drummers in the school.. then I joined the Marine Corps. I haven't actually sat and played drums like I used to in about 6 years.. I've lost a lot that I learned in my younger years but I recently just bought a new kit and plan to get back into what I love doing! This was a great video and cool to see how you progressed throughout the years!

march 2018 the coolest
My dad has that exact Rogers kit, same colour and everything. And still plays it!
It’s from 1976 I believe.
Great playing too man!
hmmm..You started out as Travis Barker, and now you're Benny Greb. That is progress.
pedimatt60 hahahahaha
who this noname??
In another 20 years he will be Marco Minnemann
In 30 years, he'll be the next Zach Hill
In 40 years he will be like Lars Ulrich 😂(jk obvs)
i can recognize so many of these mid 00’s metal core/emo/post hardcore songs that i also always had stuck in my mind. the august burns red etc era...
Amazing progress, can't wait for the next in 2022!
Thanks for having this video as an inspiration sir! I am just a 15 year old self-teached drummer and I am really really grateful that you have this kind of video teaching to me and the other people. I hope that I would be a professional drummer like you now. Thanks so much sir for this video!
I've been playing for 14
Years.
What were you expecting a joke?
I was hoping youd say for 14 year olds 😂
I just thought you fucked up or something
You got sick sarcastic skill
dude u don't know how much motivation you've given me from this video, thanks so much.
I didn't know about your channel until this very video and i have to say 2 things.
1. As a musician and musicophile i feel i liked your playing just from the latest clips, but it's the lead story: you became a better drummer practicing
Awesome to see how you progressed. I believe all musicians have their own path and that's what helps make music amazing (especially drums...).
You looked sooo different when you were younger. :)
I wonder why...
Everyone did
It's reassuring to know that the steps you took to culminating your success are very similar to the drumming phases that I've been working through. This video reinvigorates my inspiration for achieving greatness. Thanks man.
Loved seeing you progress! Awesome video!
Thanks!
3:03 ''NO MOSHING'' .... and that's how you control an audience
B//TB big fax
Great to see all the progress in the past years. Big fan of your you tube channel!
I think you should have more subs cuz of how good your vids are
That was pretty rough for quite a few years. And now your playing is world class. This gives me hope because I'm somewhere in the middle
Shoulda been 13 years of hair progress.
Your hard work shows in your playing.
#yeathatbanddidntgoanywhere...... Ive been in a few of those lol. Great video
NICE ONE! Well Done from South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Being self taught by ear and listening to blink-182 is hard because the drummer plays really fast and when he plays a fill it’s even harder
If you count and hear what travis hits on what beat you can learn it
Just keep going
Matthew Bracamonte I play bass so I don’t even know what I’m talking about. But I thought it was amazing to be self taught listining to blink
Tracking your progress in prime number increments. How tasteful! Can't wait for year 17 to come along!
"I can't remember everything happening over the last 13 years..." queue up the 13 years of rehab progress video lol.
Great video bro dig it brought back all the memories of hard work and dedication thank you!!
You’ve been playing as long as I’ve been alive 🥁🤣
Great video! Nicely put together and very insightful to see the growth of a drummer
"Justify an update" edit: "justify a drum shell kit endorsement already"
Thank you for your honesty man.
very interesting progression -come to think of it I don't think anyone compiled themselves on playing within a timeline - nice singles dude
Really inspiring to see your progress over the years man. Your videos give me stuff to practice when my idiot brain can’t think of what to work on. Bravo.
1:19 St Anger snare
this made me appreciate my favorite drummers even more
Such a great inspiration...thankyou so much ...Is there a period where u were struggling with the drum tuning and tone ...cause .I am still struggling with it...and really wanna get over it..
Nakharengachespachoat practice and trying out stuff bro, more you do it the better you'll get!
Thanks for sharing , this you will see something from nothing to greatness. Determination is the key.
what's the song for the oct 2017 video? sounds sick
Marco Martinez Loop #4 in the Nick Depirro Loop Pack. Link in description 👊🏼😉
I just started playing drums like 8 weeks ago. This video motivates me even more. Awsome skills dude!
Have you developed any hearing problems over the years? Like tinnitus or hearing loss?
Stevo12 drums left me half deaf so keep in mind to protect your ears every time you play
The growth of such an amazing drummer. Congratulations!
dam dredds usually look the same on everyone but they look unique on you. thay 70s fro looked pimp tho dude
He looks gay af... better with a shortcut
Says the dude giving hair advice to strangers on UA-cam. lol.
Adam Tuminaro hahaaaa!good burn!
You could really see the difference that slowing down made. Your open hand technique, ghost notes and hi-hat techniques all sky rocketed. Well done sir, you've become quite impressive.
at 2:49 ive never seen someone play a Rickenbacker guitar for metal
I just noticed that!
Great Video Adam! It was really awesome to see how you progressed over the years. I wish I'd done something like this. I am 52 and still drumming. I'm in the planning stages of moving to Florida from Pennsylvania. I will look you up once I arrive. Maybe we can have a Drum Hang! Blessings!
The hair was the difference!
lol
Nice work! I really enjoyed your journey ! I'm now in spired, once again. Thank you....
Is there a video of 6:20 - “Ocean Floor” by The Crazy Colors? That's kind of a catchy tune.
zander and the crazy carls
DUDE YOUR FIRST JAZZ VIDEO IS BRASS MACHINE!!! I play drums and we're playing that now !!!
12:20 “Rodolfo Pizarro”
Yeah. You chilled out hard with your playing and found zen in maintaining a solid core beat. As a bassist. It’s like a way of being playing a rock solid line repeatedly to establish a song. I’m no pro but man. That foundation is everything
Did you ever take lessons? And if not, why?
4:23 I guess everyone goes through that "I became Asian" stage of drumming..?
Diax1324 luckily I’m already Asian😂😂
