That's right! Strong, independent women don't need no man to teach them anything! They were already born with everything they need! All they have to do is believe hard enough and they'll be able to do anything! (Obvious Sarcasm)
only star wars media that exists now are the six films of the prequels and originals, the clone wars tv show, comics, star wars rebels tv show, rogue one, and the new Mandalorian and obi wan show. The sequels are the only ones that don't fit and are some fanfiction cooked up by a feminist
Pretty much. Rey is the Jedi. Rey inherits Anakin’s lightsaber. Rey inherits the Millennium Falcon. Rey inherits the Jedi Order. Rey bonds with Han. Rey bonds with Leia. Rey pulls Luke out of his depression. If Kylo Ren rejects the dark side, it’ll be because of Rey. All over the course of like...a week. At best. Probably not even that.
What is sexist is the everything given to white men. And if you can't take advantage of these unearned gifts, it means that you are a loser who wants to blame white women and people of color.
Ep IX came around and it sucked big time. All three were confusing 🫤. I couldn’t figure out what I was watching. I said: Kylo looks like a wannabe racer. Who’s he racing. Rey looks like flawless no error on anything, Luke a hobo, Leia a Mary Poppins, Han a dead beat dad(reluctant Ex Gen), Lando a hasbin pirate&gen. Yoda green alien version of Mr McGoo. Hux A drugged induced wannabe Nazi that thinks the first Oder ok.
Well, I agree, and I do think that Rey is ruining Star Wars, she didn’t really do enough Training and was not strong enough to to logically destroy Palpetine, a feat accomplished by a team of Luke and Darth Vader, (the chosen one) she did basically spend most of her life on Jakku parent-less and that must’ve thought her something
And looking up Wonder Woman's skirt makes her even stronger. And when ogled by a crowd of males she becomes what superman never could . . . invincible.
One of the longest standing criticisms of Superman actually is that he is too powerful. While there are things that can hurt him, yes, his absurd amount of power means that he rarely has to face significant adversity. The same applies to Rei.
Superman is vulnerable to magic, was killed by Doomsday (without kryptonite or magic, btw), has had knockdown, drag out fights with Darkseid and Mongul, among several other villains of similar power levels, not to mention dealings with Brainiac. People who say Superman has no one on his same power level and never has a significant threat don't read comics, or don't read them enough.
Mostly agree, except ep7, thought that was a shit show from the start and walking out the cinema made a decision not to pay to see another Disney wars movie, stuck to streaming the stuff to keep up with how badly they were fucking the ip over, gotta say they did a class job at fucking up probably the best franchise ever
Remember how Anakin, who was said to become the most powerful being ever, trained as a jedi for years but got his shit rocked by Count Dooku in his first real fight? Then that point carried over to the next movie where Anakin trained to become good enough to defeat him? And he wanted to kill him because he took his arm? It's called character development
Actually, in my opinion (what I think), Palpatine wanted Dooku to be killed by Anakin, because he cut his arm, like this, Anakin would have developed his rage, his thirst of power, and his desire for revenge, easier for Palpatine to play with his mind by saying things that would convince the young Jedi, and turn him to the dark side, he knew that having Anakin in his side will make him win the ULTIMATE POWER. And for Anakin, killing Dooku wasn’t what he wanted, because he wished to be a great and respected Jedi Master, and kills is not part of the Jedi way, like he said. But I really think the pression of Palpatine about killing his nemesis was so tough and influenced that he finished off the Sith. I’m clearly not saying that it’s exactly this, it’s just a theory I had in mind.
Exactly!! I just argue with someone that even if she was 4 times more powerful than Anakin, it shouldn’t matter! Like a person can be in peak physical condition but if they’ve never boxed and you put them in the ring, they would die every single time
Originally, Rey was only going to find Luke and bring him back to the Resistance. That was her whole purpose for going to the island in the first place!
I hate that so-called “feminists“ ruined female characters. If your character is strong or powerful just because they happen to be female you can’t write. If your character is strong because of training and development and happens to be female, you got it right.
Kathleen Kennedy and her feminist agenda couldn't give original Star Wars fans just ONE movie of the trilogy to have Mark Hamill and the original cast be the heroes... no... REY... just...REY...
I mean, take Ahsoka. She was hated by almost everyone when she first appeared in the Clone Wars movie: unlikable, Jar Jar like. She wasn't strong. But now she is one of the most loved Star Wars characters, both the final arc of season 5 and season 7 are amazing thanks to her, as she develops and becomes a better Jedi and a better person than even the Council. She also has a point in the overall story, proving Anakin's inability to let go that ultimately led him on the path to the Dark Side. And she's a woman, but that doesn't change anything for her character
Female empowering at the beginning just meant that women can accomplish the same as men. And we all like that, examples are Ashoka Tano or Princess Lea. I would actually love to see more feminine female characters. For examope a strong mother fighting for her children, or like lea was, she wasn't fighting phsyciacally, she was making a difference with politics and intelligence.
@Phelan Well, at least The Last Jedi was. It was Roundhead Johnson's deconstruction (badly done) of the SW mythos. Who's actually good in the SW universe? Who's actually bad? Apparently both teams buy their weapons from the ultra rich anyway. Who's a hero and who's a villain? Apparently neither, and both. Who was Luke? A good guy or a bad guy? Apparently he was somewhere in the shades of gray. There are smaller problems in the other movies as well. TFA basically had a female protagonist that could not possibly have an arc, because it would be insulting that she would actually been a novice as something, but.....gasp.....have to be taught something by a male? Perish the thought!! And Finn? Hmm, well the idea was to have diversity, so let's have a black guy be the 2nd lead? Oh wait he's basically comic relief, and all he can do is shout Reyyyyy because he fell for the first chick he ever met. That's kind of insulting. If I were a black person I'd be annoyed this is how the movie treats that character. Hell I'm annoyed now. He had so much potential to be great, as did Rey, but no no no!! we need a comic relief to play off Ms. Perfect.
@Phelan 100% I am reading into it. This is why we have intuition in the first place. It's a useful instinct that sometimes is wrong. Can I prove it? unless I could find a specific place where KK or RJ say that their goal is to destroy what SW was about, then I can't provide what you want. No one may ever know. But we can use intuition with a bit of logic and compare the zeitgeist and the source of it, and put 2 and 2 together?
Well you see the main difference between the two is that the prequels actually had some sort of plan or structure. They were far from perfect but they answered a lot of questions, there were some arcs, and for the most part, everything made sense. Most of the puzzle pieces fit together. I believe the main flaws of the prequels were the screenplay and execution. Meanwhile the sequels had no plan, and no vision of any kind. There’s so many writing errors and plot holes, barely any arcs (and the characters that did have arcs came off as disappointing), and it feels so sloppy. The puzzle pieces don’t fit together. And it doesn’t help that there was a lot of PC-influence. The sequels have lots of flaws, but I believe the biggest one is the writing.
With no training, no experience, and no familiarity with the force she beat a trained, skilled and experienced (essentially veteran with multiple kills) Jedi. What a joke.
I've had weapon training in martial arts class. You want to find out how clueless, clumsy, and ineffectual you (and everyone else) really are? Pick up a sword for the first time. It's quite embarrassing. I always thought of the Force as an extension of existing skills, i.e. you still need to know something, it just makes you faster and better than anyone with your level of training could possibly be. But if that were true, Luke would have beaten Rey even without using the Force, because you don't pick up a foil for the second time and defeat an Olympic fencer, full stop, end of discussion. Since that didn't happen, the only possible conclusion is Rey gets not only extra speed and precision from the Force, but the expertise itself. This means she's like a Matrix character, artificially implanted with impossible mastery of every skill in existence. The question then becomes, why can she do this but no one else? All I can come up with (besides MUH FEMINIZUM) is she somehow contains all the Force ghosts that have ever existed, absorbing all their power and experience. It's why everything is easy for her. It's why "a thousand generations live in you now." Mind you, I doubt it will be anything that interesting. There will be no explanation, she's just stronger than everyone because vagina.
@@dmc3489 What's wrong with Captain Marvel? Or are you just a sheep jumping on the hate wagon? Captain Marvel had years and years of specialized training. Rey is just a random homeless kid with no training, but she just suddenly became god at everything.
Which is why it was weird how after the showdown in the throne room Rey didn't just punt Kylo out a window and seize control of the First Order with Commander McManchild bowing to her overwhelming power and assuming Kylo was dead. Think about it, she's basically Anakin Skywalker, an orphan from a desert hellscape that's too old for Jedi training, but does it anyway under the guidance of an incompetent mentor. Except, even Anakin lost fights, even if it wasn't many.
@@InfernosReaper But Anakin had an arch, and he had training, he was "too old" at like 8yo. She is fucking 20 - 30 something, 0 training, 0 anythingm and uses the force. Even though the jorney of Anakin was known and thus couldn;t provide many surprises it still existed and was 100X better than Rey's, then again, it is easy to be better than something that don't exist anyway
@@InfernosReaper during the 10 year jump between episode 1&2, Anakin had been training in the use of the force. He lost a couple of fights in that time. When he finally got good he was filled with arrogance about his improvement, leading to his loss with count Duku. He was humbled by that in episode 3, but his impatience and aggression had the Jedi Council concerned. So they withheld the rank of master from him in order to see what his path would be. This inadvertantly drove him to the dark side. His character flaws played out. Rey has nothing like this. Anakin was literally born from the force, and he still needed years of training before he had a grasp of the force. Rey just shows up out of know where with master level force skills, no personality, no character flaw, but totally isn't a Mary sue... Right. And I'm the queen of England.
@@abhabh6896 Meh, I am guessing that's what jar jar abrams want you to think with that shot of rey and the red sabers, so he can just "subvert your expectations" with his "mystery box", gosh what a wanker
Man I was rooting for Kylo cause he had a deeper backstory than Rey and he actually went through some psychological maturity throughout the movies. REY DID NOTHING
It would have been bad enough if they stopped there, but they didn’t.. It was less about “she’s a girl” and more about “she’s NOT a man”. They didn’t just make the girl OP, they made all the men neutered pathetic husks at the hands of women. Luke, Finn, Po..
The thing is that a woman lead would have been refreshing. Of course there would be some stupid people who would have critisised only because she's a woman but other than that, it doesn't matter what gender the character would be if it was written as real believable person. If it was a guy instead of Rey, people wouldn't have liked it more.
You remember when Luke was hanging upside in the cave on Hoth? Remember how much he struggled to pull his lightsaber as the Wampa approached? Not Rey... she pulls her lightsaber out of the dirt while Kylo is also attempting to pull the saber at the same time. She overpowered Kylo without any training and made it look like childs play. Remember when Luke struggled against Darth Vader because he didnt complete his training? Not Rey... she grabs a saber and fights Kylo Ren easily without any training AT ALL. Or what about Sidious and his force lightning? Yoda was blown back and sent across the Galactic Senate hall. Not Rey... she pushed back against Sidious and killed him. Or when she was teaching Han Solo about his own damn ship? Rey is the epitome of privilege. Kathleen Kennedy's hero that castrates the Skywalkers, and makes all Jedi look like weak fools. There is no heroes journey... just an overpowered feminist creation that can do everything better. Luke sitting there milking some alien donkeys tit while Rey saves the universe.
@@peripateticguy55 dark side users are empowered by pain, he even punches his wound to make it hurt more, and there's still differences between lightsabers and staffs like weight, the amount of force needed to cause damage, and where you can or can't put your hands.
Kathleen is exactly like Palpatine, hiding in the shadows for many years, getting higher and higher in ranks and finally when the time came she revealed herself as a true villain.
@4PiousMen: You are insulting Palpatine, there was sacrifice / determination / patience / method / guile / intelligence behind Palpatine's ultimate endgame which was to become the absolute leader of a galactic empire. Kathleen's legacy on the other hand was to mutate a cinematic masterpiece into a soulless, barely recognisable shell of what it once was in the shortest time possible. You can learn lessons from villains like Palpatine, the Joker, Vader; to compare Kathleen to them does them a disservice. She may be a petulant child in a position of influence, and the outcome has been disastrous; much like a child getting access to his dad's firearm. "Exactly like Palpatine", far from it.
MosesMarlboro you mean Discount Vader? HELL NO. Here’s the leak from makingstar wars A dark acolyte enters a first order soldier and the acolyte thinks it is palpatine. It then enters kylo ren who begs rey to kill him to save the galaxy. She does
True. A good villain has to be competent, possibly sympathetic (being sympathetic is usually great, but not necessary for every villain), have understandable motivations and above all, he must be intimidating and powerful. (unless it's comedy) Kylo Ren is pathetic, whiny boy that got beaten every time he showed up. The last movie should have stakes higher than ever, and how is it going to accomplish that when the main villain is a joke who got his ass kicked by an untrained Mary Sue in the first movie?
That edgy kid? Nah. Since anyone can use a light saber, I want to see Chewie in Episode 9 take Kylo's light saber and stab it in Kylo like he did his father. I'm rooting for Chewie.
She gets an orange lightsaber at the end which means she is a protector of the force, Luke-blows up Death Star Luke-survives an encounter with darth frikin Vader Luke-beats an almost unkillable alien with just a rock and a door Luke-resists dark side Luke-survives continuous sith lightning Like-revives frikin darth Vader Rey didn’t even destroy star killer base and is deemed perfect and the protector
One thing feminists fail to understand about their Mary Sue power fantasies is that ultimately, it's like beating a video game on the easiest difficulty. You may finish it feeling all-powerful, but victory is never satisfying.
No, typical male power fantasy is like beating the game on easy. This is beating the game on easy with "god mode" on, and considering it an accomplishment.
Theres also the fact that a power fantasy character can only appeal to certain crowd. Nothing wrong with that inheritantly, but Star Wars is meant to have universal appeal.
I hated her in TFA too, but in TLJ she actually kinda grew on me... there she came off as an actual human being, who makes mistakes and can be hurt, rather than an invincible overcompetent Mary Sue. Hated what they did to Luke though.
The best moments in this trilogy is the first 5 minutes of TFA when your first look at the new villain is a dark a menacing Kilo Ren that immobilized Poe and freezes a laser bolt in the air. After that... It all goes down the drain.
Dblaster02 I remember seeing episode 7 for the first time in theaters, the opening scene was hype as hell, and boiiii when soylo froze the bolt I was genuinely excited for Star Wars. Unfortunately the rest of the movie played... and the last Jedi happened... ;_;
Dblaster02 Don’t forget that scene where we see a stormtrooper stumbling around, panicking in battle, and showing actual thought and emotions. Very thought provoking and interesting, but again, they wasted it later on.
It would’ve so much more interesting if Luke defeated her and put her in her place. His experience would’ve been an immovable object for her petulance and would’ve grounded her character, forcing her to change her perspective and embrace the reality that she has much to learn. But no. She defeats him because “hurr you go girl.”
I just realized why the Force seemed so off in these movies: they removed any of the spiritual or philosophical elements from it. It’s just brute force power ups for Rey and Ren to bear up everyone around them.
Have you seen the force is female shirts. Made me want to put my head through a wall. Imagine if I made the force is male shirts, I’d be publicly executed
That is true. We never really fully understood the force, but we knew it help. Now it feels like a super street fighter movie trying to get a force combo.
Completely opposite to Luke Skywalker, Rey is exactly the same person at the beggining of the story than at the end of the trilogy. With Luke, it’s incredible that the Luke we meet in the first movie is the same character that we see in the last movie of his trilogy. He has immense character development and she has zero.
Rey was so cocky trying to convince Luke to join the fight with her. He should've leveled her ego right there and showed her how weak her powers were in comparison to his. But instead, SHE KNOCKS HIM TO THE GROUND.
Exaclty right fuck u, all those years of training under master elites, and endless experience in all sorts of battle, im a whaman so PUSSY FORCE DESTROY HIM!
@Revan I love Alita, she is so OP, but she is also so human and vulnerable. And even with her (nearly) invincible body she can be taken down by the suffering of those around her.
@Revan Ever read the manga? She nearly dies several times. Her panzerkunst and other abilities are formidable, but she isn't the best there is. She doesn't humble her opponents repeatedly. The best example of this is the motorball arc.
The fact that Darth Jar Jar wasn't revealed to be a secret Sith Lord working with Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith was the greatest missed opportunity in the prequel trilogy. It would've been perfect and explained so much about the progression of the story's various events and add some behind the scenes reinforcement to Anakin's fall to the dark side.
In Episode 9 Rey will be in front of Kylo, both with their sabers lit, when she pulls off her human mask and says in a high voice, "Mesa back!" Kylo kneels and says, "Master."
As much as I, very passionately, want to see Jar Jar get raped to death by a herd of tauntauns and at least two rancors, it would be the kind of twist that's 500% more creative and credible than anything that Disney Soy Wars has crapped out so far.
I want to like Rey... She was a perfectly decent character until she left Jakku. Then it just got worse and worse, to the point where I wanted her to be the villian of the story.
She would have been perfect as a Jedi Padawan that started off good-natured and kind, just to lose herself in the power of the dark side. You could start to like her, get slightly annoyed with her being a smug know-it-all, then watch as she starts to see her allies as below her because she's a Jedi and they aren't etc. It would make more sense than what they tried to do with Kylo. Ugh.
Same m8, some of my best memories, as a 2000s kid, were watching these movies with my Dad, talking about all the cool stuff in them with my friends, it hurts to see what they've become
Mark Smith I grew up loving the Prequels and didn’t understand the early and misused quote, “George Lucas raped my childhood.” They misspelled Kathleen Kennedy’s name🙄Amateurs
When I started watching this video I thought WTF his accent is much more watered down and a tad less interesting, and then I saw it's from four years ago. LOL he became more charismatic and funny with age (and alcoholism is a chronic progressive condition).
If we are really being honest... his character sucks too. It only 'seems' it may be more interesting to some die-hards since at least there is some actual conflict in the character. But lightly scratch beyond that and... big nada.
Kemp Kennedy seems to be conflict and by comparison to any other character that’s a lot lol These films have no tension or threat or development It basically all doesn’t matter at all and it’s impossible to be invested in them If Luke had lost his was and was bitter and angry and sad about kylo or whatever, why not have him threaten Rey with harm to make it be a more impactful journey for him to change mindset and train Rey then have him train her Have Rey have a battle that she gets injured in and someone saves her Why do these films make so much money Who the fuck is directing them and giving the final go Do they think these are good or do they just know they’ll make money, in strongly inclined towards the latter
@@durden2480 ummm....you have seen revenge of the sith right? Kylo is 1000x less whiny than Anakin. This was from Lucas and tbh, TFA is a way better movie than the shitty prequels by Lucas. The sad part is that it is a reflection of western society. F3males are being pampered and lifted into higher positions just because they are f3males (many times even if they cant perform) While men are being discriminated against and exploited to pick up the slack those empowered and useless f3males leave behind
She is what every Marey Sue is, a personal power fantasy, she could be nothing else because she was a feminist fantasy of being an all knowing, all competent, bad ass, to have her struggle with anything would be to admit a woman is less than perfect, which a feminist would never do
Thats the kind of feminism they are practicing in Hollywood today, and trying extremely hard to put across through social messages and the subliminal in the movies they put out. It is a message that a woman can be powerful, "strong!" Etc WITHOUT anyone, especially a man. Feminism today is not about "Equality", it is everything about SUPREMACY. Now think further into this, and if you have Feminism played off against Masculinity, the sexes set against eachother, you suppress both, which can (over time) lead to a genderless society. I know im straying too far off the issue here but i do think that is what they are slowly trying to achieve and why we're noticing this form of toxic feminism in many movies today.
@Thiago Amato "The scariest part though is that these idiots are the majority actively entitling themselves as Feminists... And if any men argues with them about it, they call the guy Misogynist or shout "MANSPLAINING!", if women do that they are called out for being mindless zombies victims of some tin-foil hat conspiracy pro-men" Which is exactly what i was talking about. They are trying very hard to play the sexes off against eachother. They seek to suppress women's "Femininity", by activiely pushing them to be and act more "masculine"; all this attitude of "You (woman) can do ANYTHING a man can do". And they aim to suppress men's "Masculinity", by punishing, putting down and bashing on any man who shows these natural traits. By suppressing both (masculinity and femininity) in men and women, they then slowly work in all this "Transgender" thing; Which they are already trying to teach little kids about LGBTQ in primary schools in certain parts of the UK, thats the start of it. And is how they will slowly build up a Genderless society. By slowly "conditioning" people to accept these things and suppress their natural god-given traits as human beings, through mass media, adverts, documentaries and especially Tv and movies, which are supposed to give us "escapism".
@Thiago Amato God given is what you're born with, i believe in God not a big white beared man in robes sitting in a chair looking down on us, ready to cast judgement. But i simply see God as a very real thing, responsible for all creation, i see God as more than even a "being", something that is still beyond our own narrow-minded perception to fully comprehend. Atleast until we can get past the whole issue of needing Religion to guide us in our world. I also think scientists tampered with the chromosomes in many women bk in the 40s or 50s, which has led to one generation being the first "transgender", then giving birth to the next, and then the confusion of people as to their gender. Add to that this later era and you have many who are growing up lost and confused, wanting to stand out in some way and subconsciously using the whole transgender thing as the latest trend, only with this they are tampering with their own bodies. As for "Feminist Ideology" that original was fighting for "equality", mainly for women to have same rights as men, only now its been infiltrated, as you said by those who "majority entitling themselves as 'Feminist'. And they are not so much "idiots", i think they know all too well what they are doing. The real idiots are the actual "Feminists" who were out there fighting for equality who have allowed this to happen in the "majority". There are women speaking out against this now, but simply not enough and so it all just feels as though it is too late, and we're all just divided. The result of all this? Women hating men, using them for what they need. Men in droves going their own way MGTOW. This has become a big part of our society today and it is quite sad. But where you simply had some young men and women who stayed away from all the politics of the world, and just kept themselves to themselves in their own world of "Fandom", sci fi and comic book culture. Now those things have been opened up and gone mainstream, so the nerds out there are now being attacked and in many cases even pushed out of their own beloved franchises. Because of the toxic Feminism being practiced today, and all this SJWs and PC. Look at Star Trek and Star Wars now. Soon to be possibly Dr Who and the MCU.
Hundred percent true watching Force awaken ,was like watching every feminist I ever met in my life telling how amazing they are and Superior they are two men. and if reality doesn't bend to their will then reality must be sexist 😆😆

And THAT is what Disney SW, Marvel Comics, CBS Star Trek, et. al. produce best: Resume entries.
As much as I hated the prequels, this is exactly why they rank well above the sequels. At least they tried to build a coherent story with the prequels.
Are you braindead. Cuz I can see 99% of everyone here has the biggest ego. Star Wars was always political. Yes it's for kids, but it references a lot of political and historic things. Like the whole Bush administration thing, or how the republic turned into the empire, kinda like how Germany turned from the Weimar Republic to Nazi Germany.
This is up there with the best of TLJ critiques I’ve seen. Nice job. 👍🏻 Star Wars is dead to me. I’m simply grateful we have the original films. They’re forever legendary.
Remember when we thought Luke was training Rey in the trailers? That feeling when we thought Rey would be amazingly powerful that she'll finally have an excuse to be strong and defeat Snoke? Turns out it was her just waving the lightsaber around like an idiot. Subverting brilliance! Cryin' Johnson is a genius
She literally had a 5 minutes seminar on a grey outlook of the Force and then waved her lightsaber around a bit and that seems to be enough to equal or overpower the FUCKING EMPEROR PERSONAL GUARDS (yes the guys in red who where protecting Snoke) I don't know how people can defend that with IT'S JUST THAT SHE'S STRONG IN THE FORCE
Luke was made to look like a weak, sniveling excuse of a man in TLJ. I'm not looking forward to TROS. And Kathleen Kennedy can take a bow for killing the Star Wars galaxy!
To act like a feminist, melenial, narcacist who likes the smell of there own farts. Woah, actually there’s a female director, and she, like, has brought back the franchise from the woman hating side of thing.
God, The clone wars show really does a good job with ALL of these points, unlike these new movies. Clone wars is a masterpiece, and it saves the prequels in my opinion.
@Grapthar's Hebrew Hammer well it gives the first 2 more of significance and character build, tho they still aren’t great. Honestly, those movies kinda suck as a whole. Alone, they’re good, but there just isn’t nearly enough info in between, Clone Wars (especially a specific select of episodes) gives that much needed filler to explain everything unexplained or not built upon in the prequels (mainly ROTS). For example, the clones are introduced in AOTC, they fights a talk a bit, then betray the Jedi. This has no significance and is mainly just confusing, until you watch Clone Wars and realize how it works, and how the clone troopers aren’t just boring robots who are actually working for Palpatine. It also makes Anakin a much better character, with a more believable turn to the dark side. Also, with the addition of new characters who end up being some of the best in Star Wars (Ahsoka, Rex, Maul, Hondo). Listen, I’ve always loved the prequels, but my dad always hated them. I had him watch like half of the storie sin clone wars and now he really like ROTS (he still doesn’t really like the first 2). Trust me, watching Clone Wars will change any prequel hater’s thoughts on the prequels, especially ROTS.
You merely adopted the Prequels. I was born with them. Moulded by them. I didn't see an... no, no wait, actually I left school the year before Episode 1 came out... and didn't actually get to see it until the video/DVD release the next year. They are actually my favourite trilogy though, despite growing up with the originals.
about me.. I never hated the prequels in the first place. Always liked, loved and enjoyed them, especially Darth Maul. Fking great music, great battle, well written and choreographed, just a perfect piece
The prequels may have their flaws but there’s a good story underneath that could’ve been saved with better writing and execution, The Sequels have really no redeeming quality, they’re not fun, badly written, make no sense, you don’t give a shit about any of the characters, and the whole trilogy both disrespects and rips off the OT at the same time
i blame narcissism on the writers and on those who think confidence is something you don't need to earn. it took me as a human many ass whopping's before i could learn how to take a punch and how to talk to people without pissing everyone off. now i know i could take a hit and know that I'm strong enough to let go of my pride and speak to people as if they was well people. humility is needed in this world
“Did you ever hear the tragedy of The Last Jedi? I thought not. It's not a story George would tell you. It's a Rian legend. The Last Jedi was a dark piece of political and cultural subversion, so powerful and so wise it thought it could use the Franchise to influence the fandom to create everlasting riches… It had such knowledge of the dark side that it could even make the iconic characters they so cared about easily die. The dark, subversive side of the Franchise is a pathway to many narratives some consider to be unnatural. "Good with a lightsaber" That's an awesome joke. The saber fights in this saga are so clunky and slow. Darth Maul would have a fuckin field day with these guys.
Solar Opposite the choreography is bad but I’m sure they intended for Rey to be good with a lightsaber or she would’ve lost to Kylo in TFA but nope she overpowered him pretty easily, now I have to admit when I first saw the movie I wanted kylo to lose because he killed Han Solo but ever since then I realize that it really makes no sense for Rey to win, Luke didn’t even use his lightsaber in his first movie and even after actually getting possibly 3 years of training he still loses to Vader and he loses pretty easily, vader was just playing around with him, I mean he fought with one hand throughout most of the fight
But being strong with the force I could accept. SWTOR and Forced Unleashed show people who were strong with the force and showed that power early on without much training. Her beating Kylo with a light saber was stupid, he had trained and fought wars for years, and all of a sudden she can beat him.
I’m still amazed that anyone rooted for Rey over Kylo in all this. The movie worked overtime to make Kylo a bad guy and he was still 1000 times more interesting than Ray. I dream of a future where someone spices together all the footage from all the films into one movie where Kylo is the main character and Rey is a side character and/or the narrator.
Absolutely spot on about Rey. The more perfect and flawless she is, the weaker her character becomes. A brutally accurate analysis and dissection of her character.
All my star wars fandom friends in south east asia have totally lost interst in star wars. Disney has literally transcended cultures and nations in destroying this franchise.
Rian Johnson could have saved the entire movie and even made it awesome if Rey had have joined Kylo Ren in the throne room scene. I was, at that point, cheering for her to do just that. It made so much sense for her character. Think about it, she was left out disappointed by everyone she had ever met except for Kylo. He was the closest thing she'd ever had to a family at that point. He was promising her the ability to change everything, to rule everything. She had no reason to have a moral compass to say no. I genuinely would have respected the "subversion of tropes" meme if she had have fallen. Episode 9 could then have been about the redemption of Kylo and the destruction of Rey, who was the supreme leader.
dragonhold4 it only amazes me that they managed to get it so spectacularly wrong. TFA isn’t a bad film but isn’t particularly good for the start of a trilogy as it doesn’t really establish the universe. Especially since the only thing we see of the new republic is them being one shot killed!! TLJ is just where the fuck do we go from here bad. I suppose it does mean the next film will be better 😂😂😂 Honestly I didn’t even think the core characters were that bad in TFA even if the story was weak..in TLJ they are completely lobotomised tho.
The Empire 2.0 in 7 was the stupidest thing. It states that the legacy characters were completely inept and how formulaic the new movies planned to be. Episode 8 could have shown Luke in the role of Hagrid protecting and whisking away families to a completely isolated planet. Creating a secret planetary mecca of learning and safety would have been a fulfilled arc for the young Luke and Anakin who wanted to leave Tatooine, the crappy planet. Star Wars today is infected by too many narcissistic parasites. It is going to implode under their weight. They all want their smudgy fingerprints all over the greatest franchise to have ever existed so they nuked all lore and replaced it with their own "genius". Because of their pride and incompetence, every successive movie is a relay race for course corrections. For the 9th, it's too late to build the non-existent lore enough where the actions of the characters seem interesting and impactful. The narcissists are haphazardly trying to close the arc ... implosion is imminent.
You are so right --- Ever see those motorcycle races across country side - They fly so fast & they are only going about 2 hundred miles an hour & they are a blur... How can she jump over a Tie Fighter flying with no aerodynamics? It's beyond belief..
@@wexusdotcom The better question that few people seem to be asking is why would the whiny, tantrum prone man-child fly the TIE at ground level to run her down like he's playing a game of Carmageddon when he could nuke her with the blasters from orbit? Also, it's essentially a suicide mission. If he hits her, I don't think that little ship would hold up very well. It would be like hitting a deer at highway speeds in a Smart Car.
Your review was extremely refreshing mate. I immediately turned off the movie when Rey beat Kylo in the initial fight. I'd hope Kylo would be much like Vader perhaps better to continue the power and threat of the dark side. But they had to screw it up by allowing Rey to win and reduce Kylo to Bit-h status. I never bothered to watch it again beyond that particular scene. Your review was spot on. Appreciate mate.
Goerge Lucas who is out of the making of Star Wars hates the new Star Wars movies and even said ray just started strong without development just like you said
Disney has their SJWs hard at Work...and with Kathleen Kennedy pushing her female agenda!!! has ruined the Star Wars franchise and at this point it may be beyond saving? I don't see how anyway? even George Lucas has lost his vision of what Star Wars is or was shall I say. his Prequals started the downward spiral and selling it to Disney was the final nail in the Coffin.
Even Captain Marvel at least had an arc and explanation of her immense powers. She still has to struggle and learn things about her past that were taken from her. I don’t think she was a Mary Sue, Rey is a Mary Sue.
I can completly agree with you here. I even play a strong female character in a pen & paper game. But it would not be fun if she had no problems so she is not good with magic and riddels. Everyone needs a flaw to be a good character. So I would love to see that with Rey. She could have been a good fighter from start but the potential got wasted by knowing everything also she is just a scrap collertor at the start.
The only way to save Star Wars now is to have Rey flip to the dark side and lead the First Order and have Kylo be brought to the light by the ghost of Skywalker who then trains him on how to beat Rey. At least it would subvert our expectations!
I only hope they don’t make Rey win even as a villain because she’s a girl, Kylo has been humiliated too much now. He needs redemption, I mean he gets beaten by a girl who thought Luke Skywalker and the Jedi were a damn myth, that’s like being a skilled fighting game player and losing to someone who has never even played video games
If they do that, then by the end of the movie Rey would have to give up her life for a worthy cause, which will be the basis of granting her redemption on a silver platter. In this matriarchal pandering world, women can't be shown to be wrong, nor can they be shown to pay the ultimate price for being wrong. Darth Vader may have done the right thing which at the end brought balance to the force, but the audience is constantly reminded that the character was a soulless tyrant who would kill or maim to achieve an objective.
@Enzo 1965 That would require doing squats and more, which these modern women don't care about 'cause they're "perfect". However, she"s beautiful and somewhat talented.
After Terminator just failed, this "blaming fans" rhetoric is getting old. The original fans of these are the ones who helped fuel and fund the franchise. So when you only appeal to the politically correct, thats all who will support it. Then attack the fans who dont watch or support the film.
Seriously, the second terminator was completely amazing because Linda Hamilton worked out like 8 hours a day and made us believe that she was truly scared for the future of humankind. Terminator... uh.. 5? 6? didn't work because they decided to shove an agenda down our throats instead of something awesome and original.
I can confirm that my future children won't like Disney Star Wars (unless the new world order indoctrinates everyone upon birth to follow extreme views)
I wish they focused on Finn more. They could have done so much with a ex-military, turned good, force sensitive, black( people care about that for some reason) and so much more.
A force sensitive stormtrooper who can make improbable shots is a golden idea for turning the old joke on it's head. So of course they do nothing with it.
I think Rey should fall to the dark side, and Kylo should be proven to be a 'secret agent' of sorts. Make him have gone to Snoke to destroy him, like in some of the books with Luke.. Make him a true Jedi, and Rey be a misguided power-hungry monster under the facade of a pretty face ...
@Funk Enstein, it would be easy to retcon the story so that Han turned the saber on as Kylo said thank you.. And turning Rey to the dark side is imho the only way to "save" Star Wars, as it would fit her character quite well.. and Kylo has the story arc to be a potentially decent protagonist.
@Alex The Awsome she didn't write her own character mate. Target your hate at people like Rian and Cathleen. Hating on the actors and their characters won't do anything.
One counterargument I've heard about Rey being accepted into the Resistance without a check into her background and skillset, is that Luke was allowed into the Rebel Alliance as a pilot despite only having just met them. Big difference here: the Rebels had their backs to the wall and needed to launch an attack on the Death Star, with limited amounts of manpower. Luke had demonstrated heroism and fighting ability by helping to rescue Leia and delivering R2-D2 to the Rebels; his ability to pilot a skyhopper (developed by Incom, which designed the X-wing) was sufficient enough to land him a spot on Red Squadron, which lacked replacement fighters. And Luke was not sent in first to perform the trench run until there were only a handful of pilots left. Rey was captured and had to be rescued, with nobody to inform the Resistance about her skills (Finn was in a coma, Han was dead, Rey barely interacted with Chewbacca and was stuck in the back with injuries), yet she's selected on a _solo mission_ to track down and find a Jedi Master (someone the First Order would have sent an entire fleet after) without any backup except Chewbacca, even though nobody knew her. The former is believable. The latter is _bullshit._
@@fredaf3700 In another deleted scene (which was never added) where Biggs explains how he's joining the Rebel Alliance, Luke tells Biggs about how he smashed up his skyhopper doing daredevil stunts, so it's clear he's good enough that he actually pulls stunts off to begin with. In the novelization, Red Leader even mentions he knew Luke's father, so he trusted Luke to have some natural talent.
People looked at me like I was crazy when I said I didn’t like it. Uninteresting character development is an understatement... the creators of the new movies lack very fundamental talent.
Yeah, the force awakens was an ok movie and there was high expectations and good potential for the new trilogy. But the 8 was absolute garbage, destroying the legacy of the 7 (and also the original trilogy) and rendering the whole trilogy unsalvagable by the 9, despite the brave efforts. What a waste.

They confused "strong" with "invincible". Even Superman can be hurt. Oh, but he's a man.
Rey does have a weakness or kryptonite...a good script.
Superman also has ties to friends and family that can be used against him. Ray is a loner with no ties

Rey Skywalker didn't need any of that. Hi Five!
Anakin didn’t kill Dooku because he took his hand. It was because palpatine said dew it
@@cheeseisjar3058 he later got a job writing slogans for Pepsi. His most well known hit was Dew the Dew.
@@Zarbon000 exactly rey dont have characters development,6 day of almost no training and boom the strongest jedi in that era
Anakin was the chosen one and he stilled had to be trained.
This here
In the canon you have to be trained to use the force, that’s how it works.

And she's a woman, but that doesn't change anything for her character
leia was great in the original, she was witty, a leader, a badass, and most importantly she was strong and independent without being a mary sur
Me to prequels after watching sequels: "Perhaps I treated you too harshly."
@Phelan Prequels were terrible due to Lucas incompetence. Disney sequels were purposely constructed attacks to destroy the mythos.
But we can use intuition with a bit of logic and compare the zeitgeist and the source of it, and put 2 and 2 together?
thank you 😊
Well you see the main difference between the two is that the prequels actually had some sort of plan or structure.
It's why "a thousand generations live in you now."
Mind you, I doubt it will be anything that interesting. There will be no explanation, she's just stronger than everyone because vagina.
After watching this video, it became frighteningly clear how similar Rey's and Captain Marvel's characters truly are...

Kathleen is exactly like Palpatine, hiding in the shadows for many years, getting higher and higher in ranks and finally when the time came she revealed herself as a true villain.
And her voice sounds.....
Lucas ex-wife said the same thing about her.
Dang that sounds like how Stalin rose to power.

Sorry, but he doesn't have a snowman chance in hell in beating Rey!! He couldn't beat her when she was untrained. This next movie will be a joke!!
(unless it's comedy)
Kylo Ren is pathetic, whiny boy that got beaten every time he showed up.
Why shouldn't you root for Kylo Ren? The trilogy is more about him than it is about Rey.

Technically two if one is being generous; one if being honest.
I think there’s a simple reason Rey’s character doesn’t have to struggle to achieve anything: Her writers never did.
The result of years of 🚁 parenting and "Participation" medals and trophies...
One thing feminists fail to understand about their Mary Sue power fantasies is that ultimately, it's like beating a video game on the easiest difficulty. You may finish it feeling all-powerful, but victory is never satisfying.
That pretty much nails the entire issue right there.
they cheated not only the game, but themselves
No, typical male power fantasy is like beating the game on easy. This is beating the game on easy with "god mode" on, and considering it an accomplishment.
Theres also the fact that a power fantasy character can only appeal to certain crowd. Nothing wrong with that inheritantly, but Star Wars is meant to have universal appeal.
You give them far too much credit. Anyone who can deluded themselves to that level has yet to develop any degree of self awareness.
I have always hated Rey's character. Bland, uninteresting and self righteous.
TRUTH!
You just described 99% of women.
I hated her in TFA too, but in TLJ she actually kinda grew on me... there she came off as an actual human being, who makes mistakes and can be hurt, rather than an invincible overcompetent Mary Sue.
Hated what they did to Luke though.
@@JohnSmith-fe1oq Uh no Rey was still a virtuous Mary Sue in TLJ, her character didn't evolve. Luke Skywalker in TLJ however isn't Luke Skywalker.
What do mean? She makes a perplexed face then an angry face and then runs. She's the Meryl Streep of the 21st century.
The best moments in this trilogy is the first 5 minutes of TFA when your first look at the new villain is a dark a menacing Kilo Ren that immobilized Poe and freezes a laser bolt in the air. After that... It all goes down the drain.
Dblaster02 I remember seeing episode 7 for the first time in theaters, the opening scene was hype as hell, and boiiii when soylo froze the bolt I was genuinely excited for Star Wars. Unfortunately the rest of the movie played... and the last Jedi happened... ;_;
Dblaster02 Don’t forget that scene where we see a stormtrooper stumbling around, panicking in battle, and showing actual thought and emotions. Very thought provoking and interesting, but again, they wasted it later on.
Rey scavenging was also an incredible, beautifully shot sequence. But yea... the sequel trilogy blows.
Dblaster02 and also when R2D2 shows up
@ThePeoplesChamp when she’s sliding down the sand dune, and Rey’s theme is playing. That did something for me. 🤔
Ruin is such a hack. I can't wait for his Star Wars trilogy.
@jordanpickthall16 one day, an AI "filmmaker" will drop by and read this, and the resulting video will be an epic catharsis.

@@MariOmor1 Because it is a bad thing.
Let's face it, Star Wars Sequel Trilogy is trash.
Rey Skywalker!
I'm the Skywalker and you gotta deal with it!
Rey was so cocky trying to convince Luke to join the fight with her. He should've leveled her ego right there and showed her how weak her powers were in comparison to his.
But instead, SHE KNOCKS HIM TO THE GROUND.
It was Jake Skywalker Loke's twin.
David Chung - instead she beats Luke (the master) in a sword fight 😂😂😂
@Revan Ever read the manga? She nearly dies several times. Her panzerkunst and other abilities are formidable, but she isn't the best there is. She doesn't humble her opponents repeatedly. The best example of this is the motorball arc.
Rey is the most ridiculous character in Star Wars. They should just go ahead and give Jar Jar a lightsaber already.
It happened. And it was much cooler
Technically Jar Jar would be awesome as a Jedi.
@@edrosa3485 He would be a more awesome Sith!
He disguised himself as a jedi in Clone Wars
The fact that Darth Jar Jar wasn't revealed to be a secret Sith Lord working with Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith was the greatest missed opportunity in the prequel trilogy.
It would've been perfect and explained so much about the progression of the story's various events and add some behind the scenes reinforcement to Anakin's fall to the dark side.
In Episode 9 Rey will be in front of Kylo, both with their sabers lit, when she pulls off her human mask and says in a high voice, "Mesa back!"
Kylo kneels and says, "Master."
Nah. That's better than the actual storyline that they will go with.
What a twist!
Oh my GOD, YES!!! x’D
As much as I, very passionately, want to see Jar Jar get raped to death by a herd of tauntauns and at least two rancors, it would be the kind of twist that's 500% more creative and credible than anything that Disney Soy Wars has crapped out so far.
And the whole mentally challenged shtick was all an act so nobody would suspect a thing!
I want to like Rey... She was a perfectly decent character until she left Jakku. Then it just got worse and worse, to the point where I wanted her to be the villian of the story.
Rey Skywalker!
Ugh.
This trilogy has taken a massive shit on one of the biggest parts of my childhood. It’s honestly heartbreaking.
Same m8, some of my best memories, as a 2000s kid, were watching these movies with my Dad, talking about all the cool stuff in them with my friends, it hurts to see what they've become

And if any men argues with them about it, they call the guy Misogynist or shout "MANSPLAINING!", if women do that they are called out for being mindless zombies victims of some tin-foil hat conspiracy pro-men"
Which is exactly what i was talking about.
Hundred percent true watching Force awaken ,was like watching every feminist I ever met in my life telling how amazing they are and Superior they are two men. and if reality doesn't bend to their will

alakbar
But being strong with the force I could accept. SWTOR and Forced Unleashed show people who were strong with the force and showed that power early on without much training. Her beating Kylo with a light saber was stupid, he had trained and fought wars for years, and all of a sudden she can beat him.

If that were the plot, maybe Finn would have something useful to do.
Moral of the Story: Don't give your life's work to a quota-inducted woman.
dragonhold4 the moral is give it to someone with talent to develop a cohesive vision of a story arc
...and being Star Wars, it requires that much more talent and vision.
dragonhold4 it only amazes me that they managed to get it so spectacularly wrong.
TFA isn’t a bad film but isn’t particularly good for the start of a trilogy as it doesn’t really establish the universe. Especially since the only thing we see of the new republic is them being one shot killed!!
TLJ is just where the fuck do we go from here bad. I suppose it does mean the next film will be better 😂😂😂
Honestly I didn’t even think the core characters were that bad in TFA even if the story was weak..in TLJ they are completely lobotomised tho.
Don't give your life's work to anyone else, period!
Rey runs to HR department, "Luke tried to feel my force"
i just laughed so hard my stomach is fucking aching
You forgot about the part where she waits till years after hes dead to say anything and he loses his new job as a light side force ghost😖
Eiiiish..... 👍👍👍
Dude, you are flippen funny
I'd like to feel HER force!
And nope! They gonna double down instead: Rey can jump over Tie Fighters traveling faster than sound now!
Eh,whatever, shit like that has been around in the books too. There are (and I'm sure will be) a lot better things to call her out on.
Tell me when she is shooting lightning out of her butthole, then I might go and watch that movie.
@@tunnar79 But "The franchise has officially jumped the TIE" is such a good line though :P
You are so right --- Ever see those motorcycle races across country side - They fly so fast & they are only going about 2 hundred miles an hour & they are a blur... How can she jump over a Tie Fighter flying with no aerodynamics? It's beyond belief..
@@wexusdotcom
The better question that few people seem to be asking is why would the whiny, tantrum prone man-child fly the TIE at ground level to run her down like he's playing a game of Carmageddon when he could nuke her with the blasters from orbit?
Goerge Lucas who is out of the making of Star Wars hates the new Star Wars movies and even said ray just started strong without development just like you said
george luca sell to disney his baby its a monster
Agreed. Similar issue has happened to Captain Marvel. Disney is creating Mary Sue’s all over the place.
I already know that all that but I'm still entitled to my opinion. don't get Butt hurt over what I said geezzzz
@@6548ww Where was he butt hurt in that explanation soy boy?
Even Captain Marvel at least had an arc and explanation of her immense powers. She still has to struggle and learn things about her past that were taken from her. I don’t think she was a Mary Sue, Rey is a Mary Sue.
Disney is used to making any woman is safe and awesome, it worked in my childhood now its fucked up
I want this movie to fail so badly that Disney is forced to sell the rights to Star Wars.
it’s not because people like you will still go to see it
I wont watch it. I have not watch any star wars sense force awakens. I even turned down free tickets for one of the movies.
Oh if only that could become reality, but it won't so R.I.P. Star Wars, see you later bye bye then.
The last of the series toys are on sale already
ROS is likely going to end with rogue one numbers...which is a failure by star wars standard
Masters of Jedi Order failed to kill or even scratch Palpatine beyond what he allowed them to, yet Rey killed him in seconds.
Mace Windu manage to deform Palpatine with his own force lightning.
Rey is such a bad character that I would send a DnD player back to the drawing board if I was the DM at the start of a campaign.

I'd watch that
I only hope they don’t make Rey win even as a villain because she’s a girl, Kylo has been humiliated too much now.
Nice, I like where you are going with this.
That would be amazing an i think it would save the trilogy but we know it wont happen cause Kathleen Kennedy is a cunt
I love your disclaimer in the beginning here and how far you’ve come now in 2022. You are fearless now without conditions.
Fascinating how Rey has perfect teeth, eyebrows, etc. despite having lived her entire life on a godforsaken planet with almost no water.
Or how she can swim like an Olympic athlete, despite being in a desert with no bodies of water.
Rey's teeth can eat other people's teeth. Because girl power.
@Enzo 1965
That would require doing squats and more, which these modern women don't care about 'cause they're "perfect".

I wish they focused on Finn more. They could have done so much with a ex-military, turned good, force sensitive, black( people care about that for some reason) and so much more.
It was the most interesting idea at the beginning of TFA, but it was so wasted :(
A force sensitive stormtrooper who can make improbable shots is a golden idea for turning the old joke on it's head.
So of course they do nothing with it.
Whew, I’m glad someone finally said “Rey is destroying Star Wars!” What a relief!!!
Let it RIP. This submarine has been torpedoed and is lying at the bottom of the ocean. It has more glory there than trying to raise it.
@Funk Enstein Make Han have turned the lightsaber on. Easy fix. Stories already complicated as all get out, why not throw that in there too?
@Funk Enstein, it would be easy to retcon the story so that Han turned the saber on as Kylo said thank you.. And turning Rey to the dark side is imho the only way to "save" Star Wars, as it would fit her character quite well.. and Kylo has the story arc to be a potentially decent protagonist.
@Alex The Awsome she didn't write her own character mate. Target your hate at people like Rian and Cathleen. Hating on the actors and their characters won't do anything.
No, that would actually take real creativity and story writing.
Also there's a deleted scene where Luke's best friend from home, Biggs Darklighter, vouches for Luke as a person, and as a pilot.
@@fredaf3700 One of the few good things that the Special Editions added in
@@fredaf3700 In another deleted scene (which was never added) where Biggs explains how he's joining the Rebel Alliance, Luke tells Biggs about how he smashed up his skyhopper doing daredevil stunts, so it's clear he's good enough that he actually pulls stunts off to begin with. In the novelization, Red Leader even mentions he knew Luke's father, so he trusted Luke to have some natural talent.

Don't compare real legendary Star Wars to that shit
Feminism is not destroying hollywood. Incompetent people trying to push the woke agenda in order to hook a larger audience and thus make more money are ruining hollywood because they think that they can get away with not actually having a story in their movie, only cool effects and fabricated tension.

Ray is a character made for viewers that are afraid of adversity in their own lives (by "creatives" that also don't like it much). That's why she faces no real adversity herself. Which actually makes her _weak_ not strong.
As far as I'm concerned about episodes 7-9 they have nothing to do with the original trilogy and the prequels.
