Bonafide SS127 Fishing Kayak - Still Worth Buying in 2021?

- I was able to borrow and paddle the Bonafide SS127 Fishing Kayak to test and review. This is serious contender as I look to upgrade to a new kayak! I will also be testing other boats, including the Jackson Coosa HD, Wilderness Systems Radar 115, Brooklyn and Diablo kayaks.

Nice review, Michael. I built a milk crate rod holder with a lid on it this spring for my Wilderness Systems Radar 115. That makes all the difference in the world for carrying rods and gear.
Look forward to more reviews of other brands.
I have a simple milk crate that I’ve used for testing, with some PVC rod holders. I’ll definitely use a crate and make some mods to the yak that I end up with that I wasn’t able to make on the borrowed boats!

I wish you could review every paddle only fishing kayak out there. Best kayak review I have seen on UA-cam. I am torn between this boat and the Nucanoe Pursuit. This review was very helpful.
Thanks Rocky, that's high praise. I appreciate the comment. I'll ask around and see if I can get access to the Pursuit to review. The Bonafide will be hard to beat in the paddle only category.
My two cents. I acquired an SS127 second-hand in October of 2020. My first forays with this boat were in FL and on inshore waters like the Mosquito Lagoon. Here it performed wonderfully and I was happy with the comfort provided by a kayak this size that enables you to stay on the water 6 hours or more if you are so inclined. I was less happy with it while bass fishing rivers in NC and found its size to be a bit of a liability and also found it to be a bit too slow for my liking in these rivers and especially when going against wind and current. Consequently I recently bought another used kayak, this time an older Jackson Kilroy, for this kind of fishing. So which one would I keep if I could only have one? That depends on what kind of fishing I would be doing the most of in that situation. For inshore/flats, the Bonafide. For inland rivers, the Jackson. If you're looking at a Bonafide do be aware, and as this video says, it's not a small boat and you'll need to be ready to deal with larger boat issues.

i loved the one i had but sold it cause the tournaments we fish here do not allow us to use motors sadly
