    Very nice. How comfortable are those little chairs?

    • @MichaelMiddletonTBH
      @MichaelMiddletonTBH  4 роки тому

      More comfortable than rocks or logs. Casey brought one on an early trip while the rest of us sat on hard ground or wet kayak seats. We all purchased the little chairs after that!

    Hey Michael. Going to do this stretch of the Guadalupe over spring break. Thanks for the clips they are awesome.
    Do you ever take out at Waring?

    • @MichaelMiddletonTBH
      @MichaelMiddletonTBH  3 роки тому +1

      We haven’t ever taken out there, but I’ve seen others do it. Looking at Google Earth, it looks like there’s parking not too far. Have you checked water level and flow?

      @@MichaelMiddletonTBH water is showing 125 Cfs at I-10. I recall you saying anything over 100 was ok.
      Hoping for some rain. We may end up doing the Sisterdale take out. First time doing this River.

    Awesome quick trip! Thanks for sharing! Hey could you do a video of how you do a field repair and then how you would do a more permanent repair when you get home? Would appreciate that.

      Jason Black I did a quick repair video a couple of months ago. I’ll see if I can put together a couple of different repair options. Thanks!

    Awesome video Michael... looked like some real fun. However i tried once to fit my keister in a Kayak with it just sitting in the shop and capsized on to the concrete...so i know i am not captain material. Do more of these... i could watch them all day long...happy motoring !

    I'm coming down to Houston on a road trip to visit a couple of buddies, and was planing on bringing my kayak. Would you recommend to take a short camp trip? If so, where would you recommend going? Also I love the videos, been bingeing them for a lot of today haha. Keep it up!

    • @MichaelMiddletonTBH
      @MichaelMiddletonTBH  3 роки тому +1

      Definitely! The problem with the Hill Country rivers right now is water levels are really low. I might look for some flat water (lakes, bays, etc.) to paddle or even camp. Thanks for watching!

    Did you camp after Waring or before for day 1? We’re last minute planning and trying to gauge the River.

    Great video.... thanks for bringing us along....My wife and I want to start doing day trips and work up to camping now that our youngest started college. I have one question...I’m looking at paddles and trying to figure out length...I’m 5’11 and was thinking 240cm based on charts at Bending branch...but it says 230-240 for our 30” boats....any thoughts, based on your experience?

    • @MichaelMiddletonTBH
      @MichaelMiddletonTBH  4 роки тому +1

      A lot will depend on your seat height. Many kayak seats are adjustable, and that will change your paddling angle, as will width of the yak, etc. There are several good videos on YT about choosing the right paddle. If you have a higher chair, I'd probably opt for the upper end of the suggested range.

    Are there plenty of places to camp towards the end of your trip? I want to just do like 2ish miles on the last day.

    Great video Michael! I’ve been wanting to get down to do some of the rivers down there, in terms of kayaking and camping. What outfitters do you recommend for the upper Guadalupe? Really enjoy your videos, paddle safe out there and have a great summer!

    • @KayakCliff

      By way of outfitters, I mean who do you recommend that can provide secure parking of vehicles, reliable shuttle service etc.

    • @MichaelMiddletonTBH
      @MichaelMiddletonTBH  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Cliff. We haven't ever used an outfitter when paddling. With our larger groups, we always have a couple of vehicles to park at launch and take out and are able to shuttle back and forth. We've never had any issues with anybody messing with our vehicles...so far.

    These trips look like a blast, would love to to start doing the same. Where do you leave your car/truck? Parked at the bridge?

    • @MichaelMiddletonTBH
      @MichaelMiddletonTBH  3 роки тому +1

      Mike Levine yes. We typically park one vehicle at the take out crossing and leave another where we put in.

    Ok hopefully it rains between now and August 19 I’ll be heading to this spot on the (20th of this month . I went to tpwd.texas.gov site fires are banned. Do you purchase a annual or day pass? Is that necessary?

    • @MichaelMiddletonTBH
      @MichaelMiddletonTBH  4 роки тому

      You'll definitely need to pay attention to county restrictions on fire bans. This is where something like a JetBoil comes in handy if you need to cook food. There is no annual or day pass required (unless you load or take out at a state park or private launch.)

    Can’t believe I missed this one at upload! Another great trip with a fun crew. Wonderful camera work on this one! Exploring a new stretch can be tricky, glad it worked out. I also noticed some schill brothers outdoors music in there, nice!

      Thanks Gatewood! I tried to do some additional color grading but rendered with the wrong settings, and then after YT compression some of the images just fell apart. I did an "instant premiere" so I wasn't able to fix it and reupload. I'm not familiar with Schill Bros (I'll check them out!) but all the music is from Epidemic Sound. Thanks for the feedback!

    Kayaks ain't cheap. Check into plastic welding. Someone who knows what they are doing can fix it. Heck check youtube, there are video to show you how to do it yourself if you want to try it. After your done fill it up with water to check for leaks. Stay safe.
