- Ryan Blaney had an ugly weekend at Las Vegas, crashing in practice and starting last on Sunday. During the race, the reigning Cup Series champion was involved in a Stage 2 crash that damaged his car and resulted in him finishing 32nd. But it's what the Team Penske driver said over his radio and to a reporter after the race that is a concern because of his painful history.
Kyle Busch had an average day on his home track and finished 13th. On Saturday, the two-time champion visited with the media and had a notable moment when he didn't answer a question because he said it would be inappropriate.
Christopher Bell had a dominant weekend in Sin City, winning the pole and leading a race-high 155 laps. Unfortunately, he didn't lead the most important lap and moments after crossing the finish line the JGR driver exploded in anger.

Why? He and all other drivers signed up for this. They reported to NASCAR about the injuries from day one in the new car, NASCAR said to get used to the injuries and the drivers said OK boss, will do. I don't feel sorry for the cowards, not a single one. Every week they get into the car shows that are just money hungry whores, no different than selling themselves on OnlyFans or walking the streets...
How about Austin Dillion gets out of the #3 car and get someone good. That way Busch will have a team mate to lean on more. RCR is basically a one car team in my opinion.

@@hutrod7721as someone that is currently dealing with post concussion syndrome after an extremely minor concussion (wasn’t even initially diagnosed) it is something to look at. I am 7 months out and still am having major issues. Minor concussions are often overlooked by any concussion protocol but their long term effects can be equally as bad as a major concussion.
@@hutrod7721I will add for context. I was involved in an accident where I was going about 25mph, guy ran a stop sign and I t-boned him. Airbag deployed although I didn’t smack it. Happened right in front of a fire station. I refused treatment saying I was fine, 30 minutes later the adrenaline dump was over and I was feeling the effects of whiplash and what turned out to be a mild concussion. Mild concussion symptoms were headache and dizziness. Went to the ER that night and they brushed me off, having a trauma alert, a stroke alert, and a STEMI (major heart attack) alert come in right as I got triaged. I fully understand those took priority but they kicked me to the curb with a script for an NSAID and a muscle relaxer, not a single test, neuro exam, or anything else done. Next day I went to a different ER and they at least did the neuro exam and said I may have a very mild concussion. A week later I went to third ER, and they said yes I did in fact have a minor concussion and that I am likely suffering from post concussion syndrome. I am 7 months out and am having major issues with short term memory, random dizzy spells (I have to immediately sit down or I will black out), debilitating headaches (I’ve called out of work because of them multiple times). So yes he could have passed the neuro exams, and given a clean bill of health, but him simply saying his head hurts, after the wreck and the next day, yeah that is truly something to look into. In all honesty it wouldn’t surprise me if we hear of it coming out this week or next that he is sitting out due to a concussion.

Yes I'm very worried about Blaney and his health. Those 2 Daytona hits and the Nashville crash were all very concerning. I pray that he is ok.

Blaney's wicked Nashville hit was on a section of concrete wall with NO Safer Barrier. Looking a lot like he should have been set out before now per the NASCAR Concussion Safety Protocol (They DO still have that protocol ?). Love his talent but he just seems like he'd be among the last to agree to set out a few races.

That's what put my favorite driver, Kurt Busch into retirement early. A concussion from his wreck at Pocono. I hope Ryan is going to be OK, because he is the driver I picked to follow after Kurt left. It would appear this new generation car is a bad design for some reason. Maybe that full sized skid plate under them now? I dunno, but something has got to change. Maybe build them as "Stock Cars", as they were in the beginning ? You know, race on Sunday, drive to work on Monday style, the way it was??

Same here. I was a Kurt Busch fan and it broke my damn heart when he unexpectedly had to retire. I've always like Blaney so I started pulling for him. He has had some really hard hits, especially the last 2 years. His practice crash Saturday didn't look too bad, but it hit flush on the drivers door...which is one of the worst ways to hit. They've improve these cars quite a bit since Kurt's injury, but these cars still need to crush more and absorb more of the impact!!

the Nascar "Championship" is a Joke! Has been since the start of the Chase era. It's just another gimmick that wouldn't be needed if the racing was any good. the Cars are Bad, the tracks are bad, The sanctioning body is terrible.

I always pick older guys, because I’m older. I watched nascar before there was cable tv. When it was on a couple times a year. Well right now I’m looking at Kyle Larson, Brad K. , Joey Logan. No Toyota drivers. I even like Kyle Busch who I couldn’t stand before. I’m all over the place.

The drivers should file a lawsuit against NAPCAR for the injuries this car has caused. They were completely focused on making this car look cool and didn’t think one bit about driver safety. The things don’t absorb energy at all they simply transfer it right into the drivers spinal columns.

Hitting the wall that hard with the driver's side will likely result in a concussion in all the cars that have ever raced under the nascar banner or any banner for that matter. The cars we drive in the road have the same issue. It's physics that even the best side impact protection and airbags can't completely mitigate.
Also, I don't think it's clear that this car causes any more concussions than previous cars. The drivers report concussion symptoms more willingly now, but many retired drivers talk now about having concussion symptoms all the time
There is more safety in the cars than there ever was before. This is a sport where people get injured or worse. Afraid? stay home.

Hocevar reminds me of a young Ross Chastain. I think he's going to do quite well. As with Ross, there will be some refinement lessons. But the kid is good. He can read the car and give good feedback. I like Ross, and I like Carson. Both can wheel a car.

Pretty simple. The team set the weight too close for comfort. It might have had some weight fall off with his curb jump or any other bumping & banging, which set it well under minimum. NASCAR gives them 0.5% / 17 lbs. The car was MORE than 17 lbs light, even AFTER they added fuel, water, oil, etc. resulting in DQ for weight violation. Happens every weekend at local tracks & drag racing. EVERY winner is REQUIRED to go immediately from the track to the scale. IF your light, DQ'd immediately, NO adding fuel, oil, water, or any other weight to get "legal". Every type of "class" racing has minimum weight rules, even sprint cars. The only cars that I can think of without minimum weight rules is Bracket Racing in drag racing where the only rule is get to the finish line first without going quicker than your bracket or dial-in index. WOO & NHRA Pro Stock even have minimum weight rule on some engine componenets, like the connecting rods(450 grams), pistons(450 grams) & wrist pins(90 grams) to eliminate materials that are "exotic" alloys & extremely expensive. BTW, you should really learn a better command of the English language, as the word "scarified" has zero relavence to your attempted comment.

Dale Jr needs to have a sit down with his friend Ryan. IMO, I really hate fuel mileage races. Racing is meant to be all out acceleration & speed, not half-throttle high mpg Sunday driving. I’d rather spend my time doing something else, catch the highlights on YT. One further note, I guess there was no need of a late race caution, that seemingly plagued every other race this season, as NASCAR already had their race drama with Joey in the lead.

I know Blaney is trying to make it to the end with only 3 races left, but definitely don’t mess around with concussions. Like Kurt Busch, I think Jr definitely retired early. Definitely don’t want to see Blaney go through the same. We haven’t gotten to see his greatness yet, his full potential yet.

No "thinking" about it. Jr. "retired early" because he had serious brain injuries. Jr.'s wearing glasses are the result of multiple concussions. The NFL sees the exact same injuries. Concussions are cumulative & EVERY hit results in MORE damage, until one finally ends up like Mohammed Ali.
I would love to see Rowdy competitive again! I like that Carson is aggressive. Look at how good Chastain was when he was aggressive until they threatened it out of him! You wouldn't have been able to do that to Dale Earnhardt. Thanks for the video 🏁😎👍

They didn't catch Bowman's concussion in 2022. It took 2 additional days of headache and blurry vision before he got checked out again and was finally diagnosed. It was the same for my concussion, it was 2 days before a definitive diagnosis. That's because symptoms aren't always obvious and immediate.
It’s not always something that presents itself immediately. It can take time.
NO, the infield care center would not necessarily have found it! Infield Care Centers are more of an emergency room / trauma center who find obvious injuries. ALL serious injuries are immediately transported to a hospital equipped to handle the trauma. Concussions have symptoms but the actual damage can only be verified with a CAT SCAN. Bottom line is, EVERY heavy bump on the head causes some degree of concussion. IF one gets knocked out or is even slightly dazed for just a few seconds, there's a concussion & some brain injury. This is the reason college football players are forced to sit out at least one play if their helmet is knocked off.
I was shocked that Blaney was in the race after Saturday. It was obvious that crash could have resulted in a concussion.
Nascar may need to go the independent dr evaluation route the nfl has adopted to protect these drivers from themselves.
I would at least like to see them pulled from the car early in the race for a replacement driver so they can protect their points position while still protecting their health.

@zzz7zzz9 Sure, they wear helmets and Hans devices and are strapped into the car tightly,but when you stop suddenly, your brain wants to keep going forward inside your head. Several drivers have had concussions from crashes, and some drivers have retired from racing because of it.

There's sensors in there helmets and mouth pieces if they wreck they look at the data and if Blaney suffered one you would of all ready herd about it

Thanks! I have no sympathy for whiners. Lagano was amazing, but I do want to see the fastest car win. Hamlin is too mixed up in the business & not doing his best driving. Reckless drivers, pay-back is coming. Bell was impressive. How? Such a perfect car? Younger drivers with better concentration are beginning to dominate the speed. I love the racing in this new gen Cup car.

In regards to KB's comment. I've been following nascar since the 70's. I've always said that nascar writes the rules in pencil so they can change them weekly.
Two loganos and Blaneys championship are flawed. Byron wins 6 races and gets beat on a ridiculous one off/
The championship has always been decided on consistancy & performance. The playoffs & the "winner take all" final race FINALLY put some excitement in the championship. This REQUIRES everybody to race EVERY race with NO sandbagging!!! Who the f*ck wants to see a "championship" decided before the final race? BORING!!! The drivers wanted the points / championship format they now race under & it's a hell of a lot more exciting than the championship being decided, sometimes several races before the final race. The championship format is now inline with ALL other sports' championships formats. Even the college bowl series for the national championship has increased the number of teams & games involved.

Blaney is the only good thing about Nascar. Most the other drivers always take out Blaney. Usually done by really low percentage moves. Dumb. Blaney not only has been negatively effected about all the other drivers low quality decisions, but would you think Blaney would ever retaliate and make one wrong move, block, dangerous... anything? No. He never does. That is why Blaney is a champ, and Nascar should do something to protect their champ. After that finish a few days ago in Miami, where I saw something that is just impossible, I would say Nascar is getting worse not better. In my opinion its's getting to be where it is not really a competition. More like wrestling from the 1960s . A big predetermined show in my opinion.
Daniel (31) did lift just that he had a huge run and was committed when the 3 car came down. if you watch the in car you see the 3 go up as the 31 has a huge run then just as he gets thare he dives low and the 3 dose to at the same time. He lits but he just had to much speed. Just a racing deal. I guess he could have jamed the brakes and spun him self out but other than that.

I grew up in a racing family & have been watching NASCAR since there were only 3 OTA channels & Wide World of Sports was showing the Daytona 500 in July, in black & white. The racing has NEVER been better than it is now. 17 DIFFERENT winners this year, several races decided by mere thousandths of a second between several cars, record numbers of lead changes, etc. Maybe y'all ought to go back to the days when everybody knew the winner would be 1 or 2 guys or Ned Jarret winning by 25 laps!! Y'all don't want good racing, ya just want to be basement dwelling keyboard "experts" acting like your bullsh!t "opinion" matters!

Austin can't learn how to run the company and drive a car at the same time . Besides he has won 5 races, one being the DAYTONA 500, many famous drivers don't have 5 wins much less a DAYTONA 500.

He's no Harvick or Kyle Busch. But he did make a mark. The taking out 2 cars to win the race was the best old school move I've seen since Ross Chastains riding the rail.
That's old school and exactly what we old timers remember. That's how it was back in the day and that's why I've only watched 2 races all year. We need a New Series. A real Stock Car Series. Nascar has taken the fun , the rules and the I cant miss a race out of many fans. That stinks !

My problem with A.D. being eliminated from the playoffs with his actions is that the 2 guys he took out have been guilty of the same bullsh!t & not punished. They claim that hitting Hamlin was intentional. I don't see it that way. Logano was intentional, Hamlin was collateral damage. The problem was caused by Dillon's spotter & then Dillon's comments. NEVER admit to doing something intentionally, especially over the radio with EVERYBODY listening. Same thing in the Homestead truck race. ALWAYS say, "Dammit! I really didn't mean to hit him. I hit the brakes & had zero pedal!" LOL

Very little neck muscle strain in today's setup combining the seat's head encapsulation area, the Hans Device, carbon fiber helmets & the improved padding in the seat & helmet. A concussion isn't "muscle strain". It's a brain bruise whose damage is cumulative!
You can thank stage racing and these cars being so similar theres no getting away from the field and once you do, NOPE line'em all up and do it again, and at the end of a stage, lets go all out an wreck everyone for stage points, instead of racing that hard once at the end of a race.
Its nascar fault and the fans for thinking they have to see 10 wrecks every week otherwise its not exciting enough.

The championship has been kind of a farce since the playoffs started and even a bit during the Chase. But, this Logano situation has the potential to be the biggest asterisk we’ve seen yet. The #22 hasn’t been the best car at any race this year. I know the fastest car doesn’t always win and strategy is important, but one fuel mileage win in a race with dozens of overtime laps followed by surviving elimination by another’s dq, and then another fuel mileage win, it all just cheapens the idea of a season champion. You literally don’t have to have a good year, or even a good playoffs. If things just go your way in a few lucky moments, you can be champion. No other sport has that. Even in baseball and basketball you have to win more than you lose in a series. NFL you can’t lose in the playoffs at all. Logano is around a 15th place car. His average finish is 17.5. I don’t hate Joey, but he could be a 3 time champion without ever having been the best car for a single season. And it’s becoming an annual thing. There’s the “champion” and then there’s the team that should have been champion. There are tons of social media posts where the comment sections are filled with people complaining about the illegitimacy of the format. You can say “people need to stop complaining about it.” But, that’s the problem. It’s been ten years of this, and it gets talked about all the time. The NFL altered their playoff format a couple years ago and nobody complains because people find it legitimate. It’s a huge problem when all the commentators talk about is the championship all year, but nobody really believes it means what it should mean. Imagine telling someone new to the sport how the 15th best team is the champion.
