This is the best video that I have seen on this issue, very well done and extremely helpful!
great video, I Don't have GSXR but this works the same almost for every motorcylce. thx this is helpful
Fiqrizein Thanks so much man
Centersnare32 3 years later just clutched one for me too!
Thank you for the video I was able to successfully repair this with your guidance.
Just ran into this problem today thanks dude ! Really helped me understand the problem and very detailed thanks a lot
I'll be doing this once the parts get ordered. The bike didn't start up after over an hour of continuous riding.
Ended up having to be towed home. A little research led me here.
Thanks for the video!
I hope you get it fixed! If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Did this ever fix the problem? I have the same issue. Bike starts fine when engine is cold, but after more than a half hour of riding, it won't start up again.
@@behmer1879 did you ever figure out what your issue is mine is having kind of the same problem my bike will start up and idle fine if I slowly give it throttle it's fine but if I snap the my wrist and give it a rev it'll die
Nice man
Thanks for the insight. I've got a Triumph Tiger 800 that is making some unusual sounds from the alternator/stator area. Another video I watched explained a similar problem and was due to the stator having one of the three mounting bolts loose. Makes a bit of vibes too.
Your video at least helps a guy get the confidence to start dismantling before going to the dealer for $ervice.
great video man, thanks alot. I'll be replacing mines this weekend.
Thanks bro. My bike died on me at a light last night and your video made this fix look like a breeze. Great tutorial.
Thats good i'm glad you were able to fix your bike let me know if you need more help
I'm glad it helped you!
like it died when you stop and hold the clutch ..couz my bike keep doing that ?
Thanks for the vid man. Gave me the confidence to change the stator myself!
Glad i was of help
Hey man did exactly what you told me and saved myself 260 bucks. Thank you.
Great video, man. I have a different bike but the info applies just the same.
Appreciate it.
Thanks a lot bro for making this vlog. It helped me so much to change my stator on my K7. #Awesome #1Down5AllTheWayUP👊🏽✊🏽💨💯
No problem man happy it helped!
just a point to note , my bikes R&R blew a while back, after research I changed the R&R but not the stator as I give it a voltage check and everything seemed at the right voltage, as I was going over to the picos in Spain a few weeks later on a lads trip I thought it best to have a few ride outs to just get the confidence back in the bike, all still seemed well. Day of my bike trip I rode 150 miles to Portsmouth and as boarding the ferry my bike started to play up, had to bump start it, this went on through out my trip which really spoilt it as didn’t want to ride the bike too much, unlucky for 1 of the group who had a head on smash turns out to be lucky for me, as his bike was a write off so he no longer needed his battery and yes, I took the opportunity to take it as back up( which I needed to get the bike home, Just!!), I guess I’m trying to say...... don’t cut corners, always check the stator if your R&R blows, also buy OEM parts as I think a cheap R&R may of blown with the voltage not being right.. all is good now, this video was a fantastic help as I’m not in anyway mechanical so thanks 👍🏻 oh by the way my mate was ok, a night in hospital and a cast on his leg top to bottom 😂
Great video. I like the idea to check before taking everything out !! Thanks
thankfully for this tip men,u saved me a lot of stress lol 👍🏽
After this video I now know what to do on my Zx10r 2008, thanks a lot.
Glad to help!
Thanks for the video! Gonna try this with my 02 sv650 should be pretty similar
Just replaced this on my 99' 600gsxr. Both stator and rectifier. I still had issues with staying on and draining battery. so i order a new starter. Hope that will fix all power issues. Knowing its an older bike and I haven't ridden it in almost 3yrs. Figure I replace all brand new. The sad part after seeing this video (awesome vid), I wish I didn't pay a bike mechanic to do it. But now we know.
Thanks bro
I’m knew to working on motorcycles
This video was very helpful
I appreciate the video bro. My 06 GSX-R600 also lost complete power. Didn't know what happened either cuz I replaced the batter and it still acts like it doesn't even have a battery with no juice whatsoever. I too will be replacing the stator and the rectifier with a rectifier relocation bracket
Yep some great info here.. Thank you.
it helped me alot thank you great video
Thank you, your video helped me a lot.
Hi, just replaced my stator. It's not necessary to drain the engine oil. I did mine without draining. I put it on rear paddock stand while doing the job. There was only residual oil. Just sharing.
THANK YOU!
This helped so much ,thank you !
hey man great video really helpful
This just happened to my 04 R6 was riding it home from work and the lights were dim when I started the bike then eventually shut off and I lost all power to the bike. Good video btw!
Great video, mine has just went out and was about to do it didn’t think I’ll I would need to drain the oil, thanks for the heads up it would have gotten messy.
Doing my 04 zx10r. Absolute nightmare. Tucked behind the starter, under the tank and the coolant housing in the way.
Thanks for the video, I have to replace mine now.
Eli Carrasquillo No problem!
Great video very helpful thanks
Thank you. you greetings from Turkey
buen video,un saludo de españa
Very helpful ,good video
well done m8. Really helpful .
GREAT VIDEO!!! I have a 07 Gsxr 600 and my bike died on me last night, and I plan on replacing my stator and my rectifier. I am not sure what the issue might be. I found out that the 30amp fuse blew, and as soon as it was replaced it blew again immediately. So if I do have a bad stator or rectifier, I will be using this video to replace them myself. thank you. you have a new sub. Salute.
Nice video will do this on Saturday 😀
thanks brother.
The dealership wanted 1200$ to fix this...im a newbie so i thought i couldnt do this... But you made it pretty simple..., im goung give it a go!
Hopefullyyou answer some comments as i prob will have a few but thx
Some dude said you don’t have to drain the oil , if you just put it in the back stand is that true?
Thanks for this video man You really explained everything perfectly And I did everything perfectly for my 2006 gsxr 750 thanks bro
No problem bro I am glad to help. I'm happy It worked out for you!
What a great video bro.. keep making more videos like this .. I’ll subscribe for sure.. !!
Thank you so much my friend!
Great video
Getting the cover back on is the hardest part lol I've fought them for half an hour before lol
Dope video thx for the info thx 👍🏼💯😏💯👍🏼
Bery good my friend thank you
nice video man
great video...cheers
+Joe GI Thank you bud!
Superb!
good tube sir!
@Centersnare32 where did you get your parts from? Are they reliable? Did you use your vin# going through Suzuki.
My mechanic says to use vin# going through Suzuki. Your thoughts and reply are greatly appreciated guy
Thank you very much, great help for me. / Freddie the Swede.
You're welcome I'm glad it worked!
Many thanks 👍💻
How did you loosen the screw under the filter, you make it seem so easy and accessible, any suggestions?
Thanks for the video. Was there anything tricky about installing the gear back in...?
Thanks In Advance
Thank you 👌
I love that exhaust. Wish I could find them.
do you need to put oil inside the stator cover? also, i saw you put oil somewhere, whats that for?
now would this apply to replacing any stator on any crotch rockets? or very similar?
Do the screws for the cover have to be torqued ? Im wating for my parts to arrive i alredy took it apart injust have to put it back together
Right on bro
would this technique work for a 2007 honda cbr 600rr too?
Thank you
That was a quality video! Great job - really helpful.
i have the same problem. Do you think its worthwhile changing the battery too?
Also, besides the Stator and Rectifier, do you recommend i purchase any other parts besides the Gasket?
+James Yee and just to confirm, the gaskets required are only these 2 parts right?
GASKET, CLUTCH COVER (11482-01H00)
GASKET (11483-01H00)
Thanks for your help :)
Hey on ur stator on 92 gsx600f do you have to Darin the old first be4 i take the stator off
have the same issue, got a racetech electirc stator ($45) and it died in about 3 months. Which stator brand did you get.
You should’ve sanded that gasket down, along with reapplying gasket sealer
I have a 2013 GSXR 750. My bike has sat in the garage for half of the year and I haven't started it in quite some time. I started it a couple weeks ago and the biked turned over but in idle sounded like it barely had power to continue running. Turned it off and tried to turn it back on and I just get a clicking noise. Although the lights and gauges all turn on. The Rectifier/Regulator is not located on the left side near the radiator. I looked for it under the gas tank and removed the air filter and still cannot find it. I still haven't checked my stator to see if that is the issue as to why the bike wont start but locating my rectifier/regulator seems to be half the battle if it needs to be replaced. Can you provide any insight as to where the rectifier/regulator is located on a 2013 GSXR 750? Also if the stator sounds to be the issue?
Should i replace the old gasket or will it work if i kept the old one ? In addition shou i replace the stator and the regulator replacing the stator would work ? Thank a lot man
was that a Chinese one you put in? or was it OEM? and how many miles you put on it? any problem?
What brand did you get? And how do you like it? Thanks in advance!
Great video. Thank you!
did you use an oem stator or after market?
Great video! A guy is selling his GSXR for $600 less than its worth because he tells it needs a stator replacement. I want to purchase it and do this fix, but is there a possibility of there being bigger problems? What would you suggest I do or ask?
he left out the most critical part - how to remove the stator from the housing.
After unclipping the stator connection to the regulator/rectifier there are 3 (unknown size, but allen key) bolting the stator in the housing. Hope this helps. Ask more, I'm glad to help anyway possible.
Good riding!
He says in the video to take the 4 allen bolts out 7:45
Great informative video, one question; do you need to drain the oil to complete this job? (replacing the startor & RR), thanks in advance
Yes you need to drain the oil first. Or you can lean the bike on its left side and work on it
Is it normal that I have around 14.4v idling, but that when I play with the throttle the voltage can sometimes increase to slightly over 15v or drop down to 10v for a bit? Trying to figure out what is wrong. Couldn't start anymore after a long ride, so I had to jumpstart.
Thank you.
No problem
Quick question, did you put a sealant around the stator wire? Where the rubber portion is on the stator cover? Because mine is leaking and i dont know if you can put anything on that rubber portion..?
Adrian Rodriguez Yes! Put high temperature sealant on and around it. This is a common issue
Highly recommend using gloves when you do this. Also watch Revzillas video on how to do an oil change for some good info on changing oil. Otherwise great video. Thanks.
I'm having this same issue on my GSXR 1100, but I'm also blowing the ignition fuse. My question is, can the stator/rectifier issue also cause my ignition fuse to blow? Thanks. Great vid BTW.
Hello!
I recently bought a 2007 modell Suzuki gsxr 600 voltage rectifier regulator from ricks. On the Box I got With it, it says that I should check the AC output of the stator, what voltage am I supost to get?I changed it and it was working for 2-3 weeks before it stopped, again...
I have question. I have K8 gsxr 750 and notice problem on high rpm where i get choke when bike is hot ( its cut power ) and my headlight kinda flash a bit, its hardy noticed. Can a choke at high rpm be simbols of rectifier or i need to surch for problem somewhere else?
i bought a rectifier and stator from amazon... i am selling the bike after the fix because im ready to step up. but alot of people have said the chinese ones were just as good as the oem ones
How often do you change your oil I see your using 10w40 300v and I see people talking how’s it’s for track use mostly and you have to change it frequently can you give me some info
Thanks
Does the stator known issue goes all the way up to 2015 year model? I thought is was only those gsxr 2006-2009. Thanks
How many miles were on the bike when you had to swap out the stator? The battery didn't need to be replaced?
It was probably 15k or so miles
Thank´s.
Why did u drain the oil? My 07 zx10r I did not drain the oil. There was oil residue inside the cover but it wasn't filled with oil. Wierd if the Suzuki is filled with oil.
y u need to give it a jump everytime u started it? so battery is still low from the messed up stator ? so the problem was it ur stator or regulator?
i have a suzuki bandit 650n, and the charge generating stator burned! do you know how many turns i should make on each coil?
Hey the video was great man. What kind of oil do you put in the stator. Thnks
You put regular oil in it you choose the viscosity
Thanks for the video centersnare32. I'm doing this project soon. Just wanted to know where did you order your stator and rectifier from?
I would highly , recommend buying OEM parts. I have many friends who bought after market stators and regulators. Their life is short for the price.
Thanks man I actually got it from ebay. It was a Chinese product
I have friends who say to put gasket sealer around the gasket. It looks like its not necessary?......Did you use any gasket sealer?
great video!
I hear you are supposed to put silicon where the 2 parts of the engine case meet to prevent oil leaks. You said you ran it a few hundred miles of obviously you didn't leak, but would you still recommend using silicon???
THANKS
Yes
Silicon is optional typically for high temperature components
Tyvm
Hello, did the regulator and the stator fail at the same time?
can you do this without draining the oil? seems like the parts are higher than the oil pan.
Such a simple fix but goddamn annoying how common it is on 06-07 models, the stator will always need to be replaced way more common than other bikes
hello I have a question a week ago they put the alternator on my 2006 gsxr 600 and today it suddenly turned off and did not start, because it is again the alternator that broke
Would it be the same procedure on a 98 gsxr 600 forgive me im new im literally starting riding in 10 days
Hi, maybe do you know my gsxr 600 k4 charge until 12.9 volts, whats the problems?
