      Dirt O, what’s your thoughts on a brute force 750? I’d like on of these fancy Polaris or can am rigs but in my research I see a pot of problems with them. My buddy has a 12 brute that he’s swamped 9 times and it just keeps running with regular maintenance, a couple belts and just recently had all his seals replaced. With the power and reliability why does the brute not get more love?

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  3 роки тому +1

      @@jsnokhous The Brute is solid but it's too dated for a lot of folks.. It's blocky and doesn't handle as good as it's competition.. It's solid though, powerful and reliable.. Kawasaki would do well to give it a face lift and some factory accessories...

    Well, that SUCKS!!! I would be SO bummed... Stay positive, my friend! ALL big machines have problems. Once you get the bugs worked out, they are BEASTS, tho. From Can-Am, to Arctic Cat, to Polaris. That is one of the reason the "reliable" companies like Honda and Yamaha have not made anything over 700 class machines. Cheers from Alaska!

    Damn...well 1st...Happy 4th and I need some Kentucky Nectar! LOL! GREAT Video! You are 100% correct in saying how the XP 1000 size is the way to go. No one out there has the features that this ATV has. This is our first ATV, and I would be Pissed if it was out for repair within the 1st few months. I could see if we were abusing the thing, but like you said, We use ours for hunting and trails, then for a lil mud when it rains. My head light housing got water in them the other day when we were making our mud video....WTF...how does someone build an ATV that is made to get dirty and the light housing gets water in it. I took them off and tried to clean them from the inside as best as I could but some of the dirt had burned into the housing...lol! REALLY! Anyways! We all just want to spend our hard earned money on some Toys and have a great time, NOT sitting here posting a video trying to get a company to fix a major issue!!!!!!!! GREAT VIDEO! I do appliance service for a living, and do a LOT of warranty work for the major manufacturers. I will tell you this. Safety issues get recalls, functional issues get service bulletins. It's the same in every industry I know of including automobiles and powersports. It sucks, but that's what it is. If a design is bad enough it will get changed, and the customer can usually get covered for the repair, but no manufacturer is doing repairs in ANTICIPATION of a failure.

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  5 років тому

      Yeah, the fix on the heat issue is just sheet metal around the exhaust so you could easily rig something up... 65 hours and 600 miles tells me it was probably trail bike for the most part and not ridden terribly hard. I ride mine kinda hard and had closer to 900 miles at 65 hours in about 7 months... As long as it wasn't a deep mud bike I'd guess it's in pretty good shape.. I'm sure you can tell by the seller what kind of rider and owner he was.. 7k seems reasonably fair if it already had the warranty work and had some extras like a winch, tires/wheels, and maybe a bumper.. If it's stock 7k seems high. Polaris has improved this bike a lot in the last 4 yrs.. Arched A-Arms, Drive Modes, more HP, fixed the heat issue.. So if it doesn't have some aftermarket love already, I'd take a hard look at a newer 850 model because you can probably get a new 850 for about the same price (or at least ballpark)...

      Looks to be in pretty good shape and it's the premium package so that's good. It's probably a fair deal at 7 if it is in good shape. I'm not sure how familiar you are with ATVs or Sportsman in particular but I'd check things like 1. wheel bearings- make sure the wheels don't wiggle.. 2. Bushings.. Make sure there isn't play in any of the A-Arms3. The handle bars/steering stem for wiggle or play..4. The axle boots for tears and shafts for wiggle.. 5. Air box for debris and water (deal breaker) (The filters are paper so that's one of the first things to replace).6. Intakes for dirt and debris. 7. Oil for milkiness (deal breaker)8. See how hard or how easily it shifts when running (hard shifting is a tell for the clutch bearing issue). It'll shift fine when not running.. 9. Tires for plugs..General stuff like how does it run, idle (1250-1300rpm), does AWD work?Heck, if the guy will let you, squeeze some grease in the zerks and see if any water comes out.. I should make a video on this.. HAHA! Some of that stuff is a pretty easy DIY project but it can add up and make that 7k ATV cost easily over 8.. At over 8 I'd be considering a new one with the factory rebates and warranty personally. Because of the nature of how these machines are abused I'm way more comfortable buying a used motorcycle vs a used ATV..

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  5 років тому +1

      Man, all I have on that is personal experience... That Sportsman I got is an '18 and you saw the video so I can't call Polaris reliable.. Honda is gonna get that nod all day long.. But... Some guys have had no issues with there Sportsman.. Can-ams have a tendency to brake certain components as well and they are notoriously expensive to have worked on.. If it were me, and the choice was between your two options, and your more of a trail rider than a mud guy, I'd go Sportsman 850 and be sure to get an extended warranty... Polaris customer service is pretty good, I have no complaints about that.. I don't have experience with can-am customer service.. I'm assuming these are new machines your talking about too.. And maybe from the same dealership? If that's the case then just see what they could do in each machine... Either way, a new quad is fun and exciting as hell! Let me know what you end up going with!

      Polaris succeeded. Biggest powersports manufacturer in the world worth over 3 Billion.. The problem is they got too big. All decisions come from board rooms and any cuts that can improve the bottom line will be implemented.. It made quality control, quality parts, and improvement a thing of the past.. It's sad because Polaris was formed by a small group of enthusiasts who split from Textron to avoid exactly the type of business they became..

      I was planning on a Scrambler but the Sportsman was way more comfortable plus it has The RK arms throttle modes better racks some storage.... Polaris fixed the clutch issue in 2019.... Depends [ on your riding style but personally, I'd go with the Sportsman 1k premium... More feature, less money, all the power you could want...

    I'm probably gonna buy an 2018 sportsman 850 sp from my local dealer. They have it on sale for almost $2,000 less since the 2020's will be rolling in soon. We bought a 2019 Grizzly 700 from them last year and I think they'll take care of me if something goes wrong, but hopefully it wont. But my choices are another 2019 Grizzly EPS for $9,199 or this 2018 Polaris Sportsman 850 sp Matte gray for $8,599 and I think since I'm a returning customer I can talk them down even more or at least get a couple of good helmets thrown in on the deal. They are advertising it pretty hard so they are wanting rid of it. I've always been a honda guy. I've got 3 honda 4 wheelers and a pioneer 500, great machines for my farm and even trail riding, but they arent near as fun as the yamaha grizzly. So the wife and I are going to get another machine and we're probably going with the 850 since its on sale. If it don't work out, I'll just trade it back in for a grizzly. As for your stuff, I agree, the way you have been treated you is unacceptable and your dealer and Polaris should be ashamed of the way they done you. In fact, if they can't fix the problem in a timely manner they should just take it back and give you a new one instead of all the bull they've put your through. Before I purchase mine, I'll have a long talk with my salesman and see if he is willing to put in writing that they'll replace mine if I encounter such an unfixable problem. If they can't commit to that I'll tell them I'm taking my business elsewhere. That should get their attention since they already know I could be a long term returning customer if they're willing to take care of me. I hope you get your wheeler lined out and it doesn't give you anymore problems.

      Polaris actually went out of their way to work with the dealership and get this machine back to me pretty quick.. This issue was over a year ago.. I've got 110 hours on the new clutch and no issues.. Great machine, it will need just a little more attention than the Grizzly, but it's got some serious advantages going for it too!

    • @jtarman70
      @jtarman70 5 років тому +1

      @@DirtObseXXion Well, we went ahead and bought the 2018 polaris 850 SP EPS today. $8599 was just too good a deal to pass up and after riding it, man o man is that thing a monster. The wife and I absolutely love it. Got it home and put and hour or two of riding time on it. The wife and I used to argue over who was gonna drive the Grizzly, now we are arguing over the Polaris....I suppose thats a good problem to have.
      I talked with the mechanic and the salesman about the reliability issues. They both said while they agreed that Polaris is not as reliable as Yamaha, its still a top end machine. The mechanic said he could not ever remember getting a 850 SP they had sold back in with any major problems. The salesman said in fact he couldn't remember ever getting one back with problems. The mechanic said that most of the problems they see in the shop is with the side by side machines and that they hardly ever get a 4-wheeler in with problems unless someone has been mistreating it. I asked them both specifically about the one way bearing and clutch problems and they both said they've never seen one come in with that problem. The mechanic said he did change a clutch out recently on a polaris a guy brought in that had over 14,000 miles on it. This is the second machine I've bought from this dealership in the past year. Got the yamaha 700 Grizzly on July 7th 2018 and got the Polaris today. At this point I have no reason to doubt their word. They have been pretty straight up and honest with me about everything over the past year. Also, my salesman said that I still have the option available for 6 months to extend the warranty. So my plan is to run it pretty hard the first 6 months and if I see a problem or feel like the machine is presenting with a potential problem I'll go ahead and get a warranty extension on it. I'm with you on driving my machine, its a beast and a blast to drive. I can't imagine how powerful yours must be, mine is about all I can do to hang on to it LOL.
      A tip the mechanic gave me today to save wear on the belt was to always run it in low range if your just going slow or putting around the yard, lots of stop and go riding where you aren't getting very fast or maintaining a constant higher speed. He also said to ALWAYS use low range when climbing hills or rocks and such. He said it will absolutely save your belt and the machine will perform a whole lot better on the steep or graded terrain your riding on.

      @@jtarman70 Awesome! I know you're going to love it.. I don't doubt the dealership either, the clutch issue is fairly common but like I said, new one has been good and a lot of guys had no issue... I did get the extended warranty and it has covered a few minor things like diff seals, ball joints, and a faulty guage cluster.. It's basically easy stuff that goes on the Sportsman and mainly due to how hard you can ride it.. You already know it's much more capable than the Grizzly in a lot of situations..

      I can't get more expert, but I can give you honest... We have the Can Am Outlander 1000r and a couple Sportsman XP1000's on the channel now.. I had no issues after the clutch was replaced for about 80hrs.. Just blew the front diff at Hatfield McCoy a couple days ago.. Outlander blew the front brakes.. Both covered under warranty.. I owned a grizzly 700 before this machine, night and day difference in terms of capability! If your truly torn between the Sportsman and CanAM, watch our comparison... Then, I strongly encourage you to go sit on both! They feel completely different, and that might be a difference maker for you... In terms of reliability, I'd say neck and neck, a japanese quad might be better, but only because they have half the HP. The 2019 is the best of both models, I wouldn't try to save by getting a last year left over.. Hope that helps...

    No man you should've bought a fckn arctic cat. They're all american. They started the 1000 class and I own one blows the doors off any polaris, way more reliable more rugged, way better suspension and ground clearance than polaris. I have towed 3 different pilaris' home as they're so heavy nothing short of another popo sportsman, arctic cats can tow a popo through the woods and mud.
    Can am is cool they're a good company who aggressively gos at what's popular. For awhile arctic cat and can am we're the top 2 big dogs best machines. can ams never hold up like arctic cat simple truth from someone who really does like both with at least 50 machines within our big family and friends.
    Unfortunately arctic cat is no longer the smallest company that could. Bought out by textron. Yeah now they kept the engineers and all that and they have huge cash power now but it was so cool that arctic cat was this tiny company fighting huge massive corporation's and legit rewrote the book for atvs and side by sides. 1000 was arctic cat I own it, mud ready machines arctic cat started it, wild cat was the bet for a long time and still is best off the floor. They built for raw torque rather higher horsepower low reliability as can am did, tho the rotax has always been great motor. But in the harshest, most insane terrain the arctic cats were always the best leaving the others behind or in the dust broke down lol

    We don’t know the true story on how it broke and how you take care of your machine. It’s easy to break anything and if you ride hard change out the clutch and do an upgrade since they had it off . I had three four wheelers and if you a professional and mentioned “QUAD KING “ instead of King Quad you don’t know shit about four wheelers Mr Reseach. I had a King quad Arctic Cat 700 and Polaris 850 . I upgraded my clutch in the Kingquad since I put larger tires wheels on it . All three where great bikes and had there issues especially since the type of riding I did . The clutches aren’t the problem it’s the rider and I’ve seen how people shift all bikes and I’ve seen people engage them with rpms way up jamming into drive jamming into reverse grinding back and forth then when they break they cry to the dealer . Maybe you should take up boating oar better yet brush from the shoreline. Japanese aren’t in no hurry to put a 1000 cc for what straight line racing ? No , you don’t need to go 80 in the woods . The slowest riders I’ve been behind are the ones that have 1000s . Don’t get me wrong I’m all in on 1000 but I gaurantee there’s guys out there that ride Brutte forces king quads that would go through shit you could never get through with your bike . Oh and recall let me educate recall is safety issues only not because it broke . They are replacing it at no cost be happy because that’s a warranty item not a recall. Man you need educated on ATVs bro. Japanese has big bores and 750s are big bore utility . You are lost bro take another drink

      Dirt ObseXXion that's good to hear! I have a 2013 800 sportsman and have been waiting for the right time to buy the 1000. Hopefully they'll come up with a permanent fix to the bearing issue to resolve future problems.

      Yeah, I know its kind of hit or miss. There are a lot of guys who haven't had an issue but plenty who have. So far the new clutch has no issues. I did go with the extended warranty just in case. If I had to go back and do it over again I'd still get the Sportsman 1k.. For whatever that's worth...

      You won't regret it! I got some pretty good ride clips in some of our other videos. Now that I've learned the bike a bit better I'm really starting to realize what its capable of.

      @@kingkracker1998 Bro that 700xx is pretty badass.. A sport quad with IRS which means halfway decent ground clearance.. Plus it's pretty easy to ride bc it's super torquey.. Btw the last Warrior 350 was 04 so it's either a Raptor 350 or they're lying..

      @@kingkracker1998 I should mention, the tire/wheel size is weird on the 700xx so if the tires are worn, expect a bigger expense than normal to get new tires or new wheels and tires

      thousand who dont have issue out weight your one or few who do, and i would wager that there is a reason it is broken, probably user error. Did you sink it in a water hole and get the clutch wet? That would be one way it can break the one way bearing.
