    It has nothing to do with electronic throttle mine works awesome it's your clutch kit. I did a heavier spring in the secondary and left the primary alone and it Works awesome.

    Great information, I have a 2019 Sportsman xp1000 premium and I agree that the cable throttle is better. For me the #1 dislike would be how sensitive the power steering is at low and high speeds. Reducing the sensitivity of the power steering would be a great video

      I believe the 2022 now have a 3 selectable e-power steering modes to dial it up or down, go figure.

    Considering a ‘23 xp1000. Do you know if the new machines have the electronic throttle that you mentioned?

      The more expensive model do. But its not that big of a deal most of the time you wont notice it once moving.

      Another question - what wheels are those on the 1000?

    Hey John,
    My 2021 Polaris Sportsman 1000 XP trail doesn't have that much play in the throttle. Maybe it's changed or just hasn't wore in as much.
    Also I would seriously go back to stock clutching. I have found EPI aims for super heavy tires like assassinators with beadlocks on thier clutch kits. Polaris runs pro armor factory beadlock 27in tires from factory as an option on stock clutching no problem. 28 isn't much different. I would so with a superatv bada$$ belt on it. I put a 28in epi clutch kit on my 2021 xp 1000 and a super atv belt on 29in sunf power tires and it's perfect.. My older 2012 Polaris Sportsman 500HO Orange Madness edition is on 30in monster mayhems and the 30in epi clutch kit was making in barely move @2800rpm and drove me nuts. Put a 28inch epi clutch kit and worked flawlessly no slipping even wheelies. So that lead me to believe EPI goes super aggressive just for worst case scenario ridiculously heavy tire/rim combo.
    Still interested in your snorkel kit just wondering what mods you change and final thoughts before I buy one from you.

      Newer throttles could have improved spring pressure or less take up. But mine is starting to get really annoying for very slow speed maneuvers. It feels unpredictable. I may go back to stock clutching and go down a size on my Blackwaters evos to 27".

    I bought a 2023 850, i started researching this high RPM engagement issue thinking something is broken because mine is Brand new. Now i realize its the electronic throttle. Bummer

    • @JohnFrancoNH
      @JohnFrancoNH  5 місяців тому

      yes clutch kits on these electronic throttles do not work well. I went back to stock clutching and my engagement went from 2900-3000 back to stock 1800rpm. Love it. hated the way the clutch kit made my throttle feel at lower speeds and taking off from a rest

  • @apsfst69

    My local dealer told me it’s in the computer. They don’t want you to have full throttle instantly. Liability reasons.

      I am aware that street bikes have the e-throttles detuned in the ECM for that same reason so people dont grab a handful and wipe the F out. But yet the 1000 highlifter models can have a cable throttle? I think im going to convert mine, getting real sick of it.

  • @Rescuetech16

    I think it’s you clutch kit . You are engaging 1,000 rpms higher .
    People typically get clutch kits for lower engagement rpms

    • @JohnFrancoNH
      @JohnFrancoNH  Рік тому

      i think you have it backwards. Clutch kits increase engagement rpms according to install instructions.

    • @Rescuetech16
      @Rescuetech16 Рік тому

      @@JohnFrancoNH I don’t have it backwards , you can adjust your clutching to do whatever you want . Higher or lower . Most people don’t want higher rpm engagement bc it causes more throttling to get the clutch to engage. The less rpms , the quicker the engagement and snappier your throttle is.
      Just like you can adjust for bigger tires , lower rpms while cruising at higher speeds . Whatever your application is . You got it back ward and got the wrong clutching apparently.

    • @JohnFrancoNH
      @JohnFrancoNH  Рік тому

      @OlyFF yes you can adjust it but EPI springs supplied with kit do nothing but increase engagement rpm so how do i have it backwards. If you want lower engagement, stay stock clutch springs and weights and stock tire size. Big tire kits require engine to rev more to get the power and torque to turn bigger heavier wheels not the other way around..lol

    • @Rescuetech16
      @Rescuetech16 Рік тому

      @@JohnFrancoNH big tire kits have a higher rpm when you pin the throttle and they also hold that rpm longer before back shifting . You are confused on “clutch engagement” rpms. You can add weights to cause quicker engagement when taking off . Stock tires , big tires , it don’t matter !!
      Stock clutching has revving of the engine when feathering the throttle with a delayed clutch engagement . You want a kit that doesn’t cause revving. You want to touch the throttle and go !
      I have clutch kits on all my four wheelers and I run 30s … you are either confused on terms or you need to go educate yourself. If you are plowing you need to send the torque sooner . I don’t have the same ATV but mine engages at 1650 and I can rip the shit out of 30 inch tires . What you said about big tire kits is completely wrong.
      Your attention needs to go to the primary.

      Thats quite sketchy. id prefer a more professional fix. But i may figure out what i need and just convert it over to cable throttle just like the Highlifter model. Soo much better throttle response
