It is 3am, I can’t sleep and there is nothing I want more from life than to make this hat
Edit: I made two!!!!!! Love it so much!
😄😆 Thanks for your comment Crystle (I hope you got some sleep!)
her: “so this part of your bucket hat should lay flat”
me looking at mine waving up a little: 👁👄👁
me... im on my second attempt now. new patterns always got me effed up. we will get it down though hahaha
It's ok if it waves a bit, it may be a tension issue? Yes, it should lay fairly flat though .. as flat as a crochet hat can lay, that is 😄
Colleen Hays mine come out perfect now. Ur awesome thank you!
@@val305346 so happy to hear! 🙌🙌😊
Lol if me

Going to follow this tutorial this week!!
Thank you for this beautiful pattern! I really love the hat
THANK YOU for this amazing pattern I searched all over for a simple and fast pattern that had the look I wanted and this was PERFECT! Its absolutely AMAZING in so many variations and the pattern van be varied to work with different sizes of yarn and hook without having to do a thing. Ive always been a knitter and only learnt the basics of crotchet by a book which had me doing so many things wrong but since getting back to making things after years busy in other creative activities I really wanted to crotchet and iys summer in Australia right now and I'm Autistic and wear a skater beanie literally 99% of the time... I always hate going without it in summer and end up still wearing it at times and melting. This patger gave me the perfect replacement that felt like my beanje but was a bucket hay like I wanted but just also wasn't feeling... and for once I'm going to be sun smart too! Thanks so much for sharing your work!! I've such better grasp on the basics (being that I can knit lace but barely make a crotet granny square haha) and am already making my second hat!!
Very soothing and relaxing tutorial I made two of them thank you

Hi
My yarn is too small I doubled it still the 80 st for the crown didn't measure 7inch still
So should I continue till I reach 7inch or I should stop cos if I continue it'll be 120st please reply
@@Visible21212 If the yarn is lighter, it would most likely increase your stitch count yes 😊
Great tutorial Tyfs
Thank you so much! =D
I like it
starting this now :-)
You're going to love it!
fire music colleen 🔥
Your patterns are nice and easy, Emily from South Africa. Please make ones with only one colour.
i started at 10:50pm lets see how long this takes me 😁
edit: ive finished 2 now and i love them
So, so cute. I have a question. I'm going to make one using cotton yarn, so I'll be using a smaller hook. Any adjustments/changes needed? Thank you! 😊

Hi, thank you for this instructional video and the pattern - very helpful. Am making hats in child size. I found the trickiest part to keep track of number of stitches each round.... lots of counting.
The yarn I'm using is a 60 cotton/40 acrylic mix, big stripe colours, 8ply, 4mm hook. Yarn is soft, doesn't split, easy to work with and doesn't stretch, so great! Turned out nice. Then I purchased another colour, 100% cotton, 8 ply. It feels soft, but it is stretching like crazy, so the rounds are quite loose. I persisted to the brim part, but when I tried to do the round FLO, each stitch stretched out of shape even more. What should I do? Use a smaller crochet hook? What size in mm should I be using to have a nice tight finish? Your advice would be appreciated. BTW. It's really fun.... I'm hooked!🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🪡😊
Thanks so much for this video! You are a great teacher. Do you have any recommendations for modifying this pattern for use with fingering yarn? Should I just rely more on measurements?
Hi Cevin! I'm so sorry I'm just getting back with you 😔 I think I would definitely rely on measurements more with a different weight.. If you give it a go, I would love to see your end result 😊
Thank you for your kind comment❤
I love this pattern I’m on my third one. But now I want to go down a size instead of doing 80 I want 70 so now I did the ridges and I went to 18 so now I stuck on the increasing fo I still follow your increase patten having 70 ? Thanks
what type of needle should i use for threading in the tails with my yarn being 5.5 mm?
Hey, I have a question, when you begin working on the body, what can I do so there’s no ridge between the top and the body? I’m doing this for my friend and she wants the hat to follow from the top to bottom and here there’s like a ridge line where you can tell the difference from the hat to top of the hat. Thank you so much for making this!
I figured it out! Instead of taking the left crochet, I took the right one and not the left!
@@raneemyounan2412 🙌🙌 Thanks for your feedback and the tip for others in your situation 😊
Hi! really appreciate the pattern. I find that when i make the hat according to the pattern, the part between the crown and the brim to be very large. it doesn’t seem to fit on most heads. if you have any tips or advice for me it would be greatly appreciated
Smaller hook or tighter tension (or both) should help.
Thank you so much! Mine has turned out perfect :) x
K lindo💜por favor de cuantos milimetros es el hilo y que #es el crochet??🦋
How much yarn do you need? Do I need more than 50g x
Hi colleen! If i end up with 90 stitches before the brim, what would my brim stitch increases be? Would it stay the same? Somehow i cant figure out the math. Ill have to unravel my brim /cries
I'm having that same issue! I've restarted so many time but I still keep getting 90 stitches as well!
From the written instructions it seems as though you’d continue to increase the same way as you did on the top. So if you have 90 stitches before the brim, the first increase on the brim would be to 100.
Do you ever use all cotton yarn?
To make it for a large man how many rounds would I need to do the crown for?
I would say you should be safe with only 1 more increase on the crown 😊
Awe thanks I will try that.
That is lovely. What is your website please?
You're so kind... Thank you ❤ www.yarnwars.com

im getting confused on the ten half double crochet into the magic circle
I wanna try
My mind .... you should try
Me...but I haven't colour ful yarn like hers
Why are you using a bigger hook? I need to crochet for a 20.5” will this work?
Hi Collen, do you think it's fine if i am gonna used a 6 mm hook? Thanks a lot:)
Hi Rosalia! Yes, that is the hook size I use for this pattern 😊
What!? I thought you were using 4mm for some reason... No wonder its taken me so many more stitches to make an adult sized hat 😅
5:31 start
I have a question, how do you fix the tension issue? I’ve tried making the hats 3 times now and all the time they’re like ^ please help 😔💔
What should be the diameter of the flat circle for 22-25 years ?
There are 24 rounds 25 optional just in case you’re wondering
Row 11 through 18 are you chaining 2 before starting next row?
Yes, you will ch 2 before starting each new round throughout 😊
how much yarn did you use for this?
Does that chain at the beginning of the rows count as a stitch?
No it does not 😊
Mine isn’t going straight down? The body is flowing out and it looks like those French hats. How do I fix that?
Hi Raneem, if you send me a picture, you can email me at yarnwars@gmail.com. I can get a better idea of what you mean. Mine was flatter, but as you see in the picture, a couple of little waves. Nothing a little steam from the iron won't quick fix if it's not crazy wavy.
so I was doing the second part, but mine isn't going down like a hat. it is now just a big circle. How can I fix it? anybody who can help me? :) is
The only thing I can think is possibly your tension Iva... what are you using for hook / yarn. You may have to go down a hook size?
Round 4 i finished with 1 half double in the last two stitches but still ended up with 40 😂😂 how did i do that omg ..
i just started crochet self taught and man this is HARD
Wish I could make that but as a complete newbie (+someone who speaks english only as a second language) I have a really hard time unterstanding what's going on🥺...
Update: after rewatching I think I'm getting the hang of it-
Hey, can i ask you something? So in the middle of the process my yarn ran out what should i doo😥😥😥
32 . Rebekah Grace V hey, if you search ‘crochet magic knot’ on youtube, there are loads of videos on how to join one ball of yarn to another! hope this helps ☺️
Where can I find the pattern for this bucket hat ?
yarnwars.com/crochet-bucket-hat-pattern-back-to-the-sixties-we-go/ this took me so long to figure out, I really like written patterns better but I only watch videos if I'm confused with the term :)
for me to know where i am in the video:
46:30
"so you should end with 2 hdc stitches"
*me on my 10th attempt ends with one hdc* I just kept going because I'm beyond frustrated I constantly lose track LMAO
I'm so sorry Bella! 😔

I'm currently working on a bucket hat, and I used a 5mm 🥺😭. Fail.
Same here. I thinking its time for an upgrade. My whole circle wobbles and waves
My hat is standing up stiff and the brim flipped up so it looks more like a top hat :( idk what I did wrong. I need help *cries*
Probably crocheting too tight, loosen up your stitches slightly
Accidentally ended up with 90 stitches right before starting the brim, trying to figure out where I added extra stitches 😭😂
Gosh I keep miss counting and having to go back rows, so annoying! Must concentrate more! ❤
This is sooooooooo long, great tutorial, but its almost an hour just watching the vídeo omg
her "you should have 80 stitches"
me who has almost 90 😬
Happened to me too! And now I’m trying to figure out where I added the extra ones 😭
Thought she said Jhope instead of j hook
🤷🏼♀️😁 Sorry... I can't even blame that one on the mask 😳
