To say Linda was a huge star is an understatement. She was the first female singer to sell out arenas! She could rock, she sang R&B (I saw a video of her and Smoky Robinson doing a few of his songs), she sang jazz, as noted below, opera. And her albums of American classics with the Nelson Riddle Band are iconic. Mick Jagger rewrote the lyrics of Tumbling Dice for her to cover. Any song she covered, instantly became hers. Check out: You're No Good, When Will I Be Loved, Tracks of My Tears, It's So Easy, Just One Look, I can go on and on. She's one of the finest.

I knew you would groove on this legendary singer....she was the most versatile (even doing opera!) and highest paid woman at the time...She has earned 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, and an ALMA Award...she has amazing range and control with a soulful earthy sound..one of the best....peace

Linda Ronstadt is an incredible singer. I saw her at Jones Beach Amphitheater. I was sitting right up front and loved her to pieces. She has so many great songs it’s beyond beautiful to hear her.

"Blue Bayou" was a HUGE HIT in the 1970's, and landed Linda Ronstadt on the cover of TIME Magazine. Plus she is a beautiful woman, with a matching personality. I had the opportunity to meet Ms. Ronstadt in 1980 when she was campaigning with her boyfriend at the time, California Governor Jerry Brown. She was even nicer than her reputation, which is excellent. Unfortunately, she can no longer perform because she has developed Parkinson's Disease, but we still love her. Her voice is magical.

She's legendary. ❤ She did classic jass standards and then got into her heritage and performed classics in the Mexican music genre. Roy Orbison is another legend: Pretty Woman.

I love Ronstadt's delivery and how she can convey the yearning and axiid in her third chorus: I'm going back someday, come what may to Blue Bayou...totally magical stuff. bro. And You're so right sometimes you can just identify a hit song and not even know the song by just how well written and how well composed the song is. You have come far in your musical journey. I have enjoyed the journey as well. Here's another song by Linda Ronstadt and this is a live performance, if interested. "Linda Ronstadt - You're No Good - Live 1976 (Reelin' In The Years Archives)" good quality

Linda Ronstadt's version of the classic 'SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME' is a masterpiece/master class in singing. You get
mesmerized by the sound of her voice and how she can sing anything. Classics, Country, Rock, Marachi, Blues, Jazz - Linda was
    a one-of-a-kind talent.

She's a Tucson native who started out in the folk-rock trio The Stone Poneys in the late '60s. It didn't take long for people to notice her. Back then, singers could go on late-night shows like The Midnight Special and gain a following overnight. When she did go solo, she put together a backing band which included future members of The Eagles.

Glad you finally got to hear this hit and artist. Linda's vocals are crystal clear and so beautiful. The steel guitar gives it a country feel. As Willie Nelson said "There are two kinds of men in this world, those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her." Now you have :-) She has a huge repertoire and I'd recommend her cover of the Eagle's "Desperado" and another one called "Long, Long Time" and her first hit with the Stone Ponies "Different Drum".

One of the most heart wrenching songs ever is Linda's "I Never Will Marry". Not only is Linda's voice angelic, this song includes Dolly Parton singing harmonies for her. It is absolutely amazing. Other brilliant songs under the radar are Linda's cover of Warren Zevon's "Carmelita" and JD Souther's "Simple Man, Simple Dreams". Everything she touches is gold. Sad what she has had to endure with her health. Mad love and prayers to her.

In 2013, after years of struggling with her vocals, Ronstadt was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. However, she later learned that she actually had a Parkinson's-like disorder called progressive supranuclear palsy. Her band in the early days, were members of the Eagles. She advised them to go on their own and that's how the Eagles was formed. She can sing any genre. She even sang a fantastic Spanish speaking song.

Linda Ronstadt had the most beautiful voice on the planet until it was stolen from her by a neurological disorder. Fortunately, we have 40 plus years of the most diverse catalogue you will find. She could sing anything. I recommend checking out her live performances as they are legendary and quite often better than the studio cuts. She is well worth a deep dive. Her early work with the Eagles before they were the Eagles is the best but pretty much everything she did was gold. She covered a lot of great songwriters like Jackson Browne, Lowell George and knew exactly what song she needed to do.
    Her only flaw?
Hanging around with Jerry Moonbeam Brown. That never made sense to me.

You're No Good should be up next, then a deep dive is called for. She sounds just as good live, if not better. Sadly, she can no longer sing due to a neuromuscular disease. If you get a chance, watch The Sound Of My Voice, a documentary about her life and career. Fun fact, her early back up band went on to become The Eagles. I think she and Glenn Frey were a couple for a while, and she had a long term relationship with Governor Jerry Brown of California.
