Linda has such a powerful but soul-touching voice. What a truly top-shelf talent and person. Thanks, CR, for the Linda Ronstadt music. No autotune, no backing track, dancers, or twerking. Just singing and musicians.
I have only a few regrets in my life; one of them is that I only got to see Miss Linda live in concert once. Truly a great singer if there ever was one! 💔
It's hard to explain how much of an impact Linda Ronstadt had on the music industry in the 70's. Not only was she massively talented, but extremely popular in every musical genre. She was the first woman artist to fill stadiums and every song she covered became her own. It's easy to see why!
You definitely found the right version. Like I always say, this is the most beautiful voice on the planet. She’s simply stunning. The perfect blend of sweetness and power. She can sing anything and make it better than it was. It’s very sad that she is no longer able to do what she loves to do and what we all delight in. Fortunately we have audio and video to enjoy what she shared with us. A magnificent talent. The “Blue Bayou” video is another wonderful live performance from the same concert. It is not dubbed and, obviously, she was never autotuned. Great reaction. 🌺✌️
Ronstadt had the best voice of her generation. She’s part Latina, and did an album of mariachi standards called Canciones de mi Padre. I was totally unfamiliar with this kind of music till Linda Ronstadt opened me up to it. Ronstadt’s voice is the perfect vehicle, tender as a kiss and powerful as a thunderclap.
The first time I saw Linda Ronstadt, was at a small venue in L.A. She was performing as a trio with the Stone Poneys (probably mid 1960's) and she came out on stage barefoot and in a dress, looking like a little country girl. She is an outstanding singer and I was never disappointed at any of her shows. Sadly, she now has Parkinson's disease and is no longer able to sing. I love this song and when I was younger, too many a soon to be ex-boyfriend told me I should really listen to this song and take it to heart.
Probably the greatest voice of the 20th century. She sang every genre during her career, from opera to rock. She wasn't with Eagles, they were with her.
The live version of 'La Charreada' is an absolute must listen! Every big Linda fan loves that one. Also her live version of The Stones 'Tumbling Dice' is next level.
Great review. I always loved this song. Her version was my favorite by far. Since it was the first version I ever heard, it was the original to me. I always loved Linda Ronstadt since I was 9 years old in 1975. Always loved Crystal Gayle too. I'd like to see you react to "When I Dream" if you haven't already. How about "I Never Gave Up On You", Or "The Woman In Me". However, there are great highly underrated vocalists that you might not be so familiar with that I am desperately trying to get allot more people to listen and react too. Holly Dunn, My Beloved Lari White. Kelly Willis, Mandy Barnett, Shelby Lynne, her sister Allison Moorer among others. These are some of the finest voices of the past 40 years in Country Music or any genre. I personally think that Lari White and Mandy Barnett could hang with Linda Ronstadt, Patsy Cline or anybody else vocally. You would be hard pressed to find two better or more versatile voices. To get you curious, here is footage of Mandy Barnett in 1994 still a Teenager at the time. She had just won "the national New Miss Patsy Cline" contest. Mandy comes out on the Stage of the Grand Ole Opry as Patsy singing "Blue Moon Of Kentucky". It's just incredible as she looks and sounds almost exactly like Patsy did. Mandy was just inducted into the Opry as an official member a couple 3 years ago. Certainly, well deserved. ua-cam.com/video/IqUiCL7N8gw/v-deo.html
I got to see her live 56 times from 1976 to 2009 when she couldn’t sing anymore we couldn’t wait for her to sing desperado that voice was 1000 times stronger and better than the recordings and she sang every hit better than what was on the radio they recorded it and wrote it and their record studio didn’t know what to do with it and they said to Linda like what can you do with it and then she turned it into a massive hit
Another great memory from the 70's. So many things going on in music then. Styles branching off Rock and Roll. At a party you might hear Smoke on the Water followed by a Linda Ronstadt song. Then some Blondie or Willy Nelson. Wouldn't want to have grown up at any other time. Love watching these reactions!
Here is another side of Linda Ronstadt singing in spanish in concert." Linda Ronstadt - La Cigarra, Conciones De Mi Padre Concert with Mariachi Vargas " ua-cam.com/video/rn3SeUTuyEY/v-deo.html. Her father offered to pay her brother if he would learn these songs in spanish , he didn't do it but Linda did instead.
The first time I saw Linda it was free. I was in 5th grade in Tombstone AZ, her high school choir was touring the state doing concerts at schools. I think it was Catalina High from Tucson. She was the reason they were touring, she sang 3 or 4 solos, she was amazing back in her school days. I saw 2 of her concerts in later years.
Man your looking and listening to perfection with this one. How beautiful a voice and she's not hard to look at either. Iv'e always loved that woman !!!!!
The combination of Linda Ronstadt’s heritage: the passion and heartfelt Latina Mexican with her German strength and earthy grit and grace makes her voice a phenomenal force of nature beyond our human plain. I’ve taken my wife to see her a few times because Linda is soo special.
I too prefer an artist that writes their own songs. However, there are certain musicians that know what lane to drive their car in. Linda is an interpreter of song. And that worked very well for her. Her voice re-wrote the songs she sang.
Linda's voice and a piano are all you need for a transcendental experience. Her vocals are just so pure and satisfying. The Eagle's version was on the album and just loved their version too. I noticed that there are many reactors who react to Eagles' live performances without getting blocked! (Probably not able to block like the recorded version!) There are many live Eagles reactions on UA-cam, one of favorite live song of theirs is the live performance of "Take It To The Limit" the 1977 version with the late Randy Meisner on lead vocals.
I'll have to check and see their uploaded dates. Seems like some of the things I try to react to that get blocked, others have been able to upload, But those upload dates are sometimes 1-2 years ago
@@ShawnSalvadori I thought that could be possible that they haven't gotten to recent uploads. However, I Googled this: "youtube take it to the limit reaction video" and see several one from Aug 2022. Two other reactor, HarriBest and NZ Boy, have Eagle songs up perhaps these particular recordings are safe? Or its random how they enforce and don't want you to get a strike so proceed with caution.
Glen Frey & Don Henley were members of her backup band before they decided to form The Eagles. Linda did everything she could to help them get started. This was their song but their version was very different. As you read, Don Henley said, truthfully, that it wasn't a hit until Linda sang it.
Fantastic! A deep cut "White Rhythm and Blues" from her Living in the USA album is really special. Just FYI - it is Glenn Frey (pronounced FRY). Love the channel!
This is a couple of years before I met Linda at a political event for her boyfriend at the time, California Governor Jerry Brown. A truly gracious and charming person, she is even nicer than her reputation, and her talent, which is spectacular. She is special in so many ways.
@@evanhughes1510Linda said in her book her voice was at its best between the ages of 40-50, which is well into her 1990's work. Take some time to listen to it.

Yes she was appreciative of her accolades. No ego,no attitude, that’s why I can’t stomach the mediocre female singers of today . Could TS do this-don’t think so.

Actually, that’s Don Grolnick. He toured with Linda and her band for several years. 💐

Yes to both!!!
I co-sign on La Charreada. You gotta.
Full body shivers and goosebumps.....every....single.....time. So moving. This is the best version of this song ever.
It 's amazing to me how little the younger generation knows about musicians and singers who were some of the greatest in history
There’s a great live recording of her singing it and they’re backing her up. It’s amazing.

Blue Bayou is a must from that video. she sings to the rafters.
Love this. Check out her Trio albums with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton. The beautifulest singing ever.
You should listen to "La Cigarra" live by Linda Ronstadt...it is very amazing and sung in Spanish as a tribute to her father!!
